Sue - I know it can be hard to use up your daily points when you have a lot of them. I started off on 40 I think but am now down to 35. For long term, sustained weight loss you need to be feeding your body. 21 points would be too few for someone who was allocated 29 and it's definitely too few for you.

You need to trust the pro points system and eat what you're allowed. I know it feels like a lot. I didn't believe that I could possibly eat all my points and still lose weight, but I have - nealrly 3 and a half stone since October.

You are in this for the long haul, like me. You need to make sure that your diet is varied, interesting and satisfying. Short term, you might lose weight on that low number of points, but it's just not sustainable.

How long do you think it will take you to lose your weight? I think that mine will take me 2 years. Can you honestly imagine eating only 21 points a day for the next 2 years?

Sorry for the lecture. I hope you understand that it is a supportive lecture. Grin

wizzler · 01/05/2011 19:55

Littlefish.. glad it all went well, and congrats on getting to the next stone bracket.
Sue.. what Littlefish and Herding said.

SomethingSuper · 01/05/2011 19:57

3 and half stone is fantatsic Littlefish! I hope I do so well.

How did you get on with your points and your walk CareyFakes?

androbbob · 01/05/2011 21:23

littlefish - glad the concert was a sucess - do hope to hear a snippet of it in the near future! I am on FB if it ends up on there!

Read an interesting article today in a healthy eating magazine and it suggested that you should be eating between 70 and 120 different foods a week - well that got me thinking about how we all can tend to eat the same things day in day out - perhaps worth having a look at your recent trackers and see how many you have had over a week - I guess different flavour yoghurts doesnt count! A healthy and varied diet is the key to long term losses and sustaining it - I definately believe that is true! The same article also suggested that you should have a week off the diet every 3 months or so, kind of re-setting your body and also makes you appreciate how much better you feel with healthier food choices than stodge, sugar and fat!

I have generally eaten well today apart from a meringue dessert for tea - did have fresh strawberries with it though! Worked out at 9PP so not too bad with the rest of today's eating,

Planning food choices for the next few days now - I really need some different lunches for work - getting a bit samey with soup or salad!

SueSylvesterforPM · 01/05/2011 22:28

thankyou for advice had a big tea definetly had my points today :)

HeyH0 · 01/05/2011 22:45

Sue, is what you're eating satisfying you, or are you finding yourself hungry between meals? It's worth remembering that someone at goal and on maintenance has a daily allocation of 35PP... Significantly less than your allowance, yet a lot more (pointwise) than what you'd eaten when you last posted.

I freely admit, if I'm not hungry I won't eat purely for the sake of hitting my daily points quota (I'm on 33, started on 38 or thereabouts), but make a concious effort to ensure my three main meals are nutritionally balanced and come in at between 22-27PP per day; that leaves a little wriggle room should I want seconds/a treat/pointy snack/glass of wine. Because I'm vegetarian and eat a lot of zero point veg it's often a struggle to hit my 33PP, so I aim for a minimum of 28-29PP. If I'm hungry though, I don't deprive myself; I've had pizza and ice-cream today, yet I'm still one point under.

If you feel up to it, post a typical days worth of food; you never know, you might be under-pointing the odd meal or there may be a way of bumping up your calorie consumption without resorting to eating junk.

HeyH0 · 01/05/2011 22:46

Gah, cross post.

CareyFakes · 02/05/2011 08:25

I managed to earn 15 Acitivity points SomethingSuper with a 10 miler, thankfully, that means I'm back into 'positive' figures after my spectacular tumble from the wagon on Wedding Day lol

We're off for a picnic and long walk again today, just weighed myself naked insert wolf whistle and have hit the next stone bracket, which means I'm 3 and half stone lighter thI was last year! Just need to lose 4.5lbs to be 3 stone loss IN CLOTHES.

I should get dressed really.

LoopyLa · 02/05/2011 09:38

Oooh, ouchy, that hurt - no-one kicks butt like Blondes does Wink

So I'm back on tracking...I've had two ridiculous days food wise but have tracked them (84 points Saturday, WOWSERS Blush ) but I have also spent my time heavy gardening, a 5 mile walk and 3 hours window shopping too - why is gardening listed on activity points but not shopping or cleaning???

So have a social event on Tuesday but will have my 45 min walks every day & will try to squeeze one in today as well and on my lunch breaks...I have to lose next Saturday!!!

Andro that does sound interesting - I'm also getting very bored with lunches so trying to mix them up but don't have much time in the evenings to prepare them; 70-120 diff foods sounds like A LOT though?

androbbob · 02/05/2011 10:51

loopy - at least you tried to track the bad days - makes you think was it feally worth it! If it was then ok, move on, if not, it may make you think next time and you could end up eating a lot less points!

SueSylvesterforPM · 02/05/2011 12:34

afternoon all

my first weigh in since easter arrgh hold my hand

Littlefish · 02/05/2011 12:47

Good luck Sue. Let us know how you get on.

SueSylvesterforPM · 02/05/2011 12:53

thankyou :)

herdingcats · 02/05/2011 15:42

Good luck Sue Smile
A Dessert recipe today. 2PP per portion , and my family all love it.
Eton Mess or mini pavlova.
170g pot Total 0% Greek yoghurt
1TSP sugar
300g strawberries roughly chopped
Mix all together ,leave in fridge for at least an hour.
To serve either crumble in 3 meringue nests, or pile into 3 meringue nests.
Voila, super easy ,but delicious. Enjoy

ShouldersBackAndNoBiscuits · 02/05/2011 15:53

Good luck sue!

Herdingcats I have a variation on that nearly every night, tend not to bother with the sugar if the strawberries are sweet enough! Try substituting pineapple and blueberries yum. Oh, and m&s meringue nests are the best ones by far, often on 2 packs for 2 quid as well.

Have been getting lots of nice compliments on my weight loss this week. Do you find that every so often you just suddenly look thinner and everyone notices? I've had this a couple of times on the way down! It's very nice!

herdingcats · 02/05/2011 16:03

Shoulders ,the pineapple version sounds good, and I have one ripening on the window sill atm( 89p from Aldi just now). i think I would like the blueberries ,but not DD so may make that as a secret treat.
I buy co-op meringues ,also 2 packs for £2, they are alomst like homemade.
Well done on the complements, only 1 person has said anything to me, and that was my neck looked thinGrin , didn't think I could lose a stone off my neck Wink. It must have been bloody fat before!

LolaLadybird · 02/05/2011 16:46

Interesting article Androbob. I think it's easy to stick to the same thing on WW, once you've worked out which foods will fill you up without going over the points allowance - I definitely eat a less varied diet when trying to lose weight. Hopefully, things like this thread will help us wander out of our comfort zones every now and then. Also, true about having a week off and appreciating the healthy eating. After 2 renegade weeks over Easter, I was really ready to get back to it - I missed that thinner feeling that comes from eating healthily whether you've lost weight or not, ifyswim.

Keep teetering into minus points this weekend and using exercise to bring me back into the black! WI tomorrow though and hopefully on track to lose the 3.5 lbs I'd put on in the previous 2 weeks. (Wish I hadn't had the renegade weeks as I'd now be about 6lbs ahead of where I currently am, but then maybe I wouldn't have so much enthusiasm without the break Confused - heyho).

SueSylvesterforPM · 02/05/2011 16:58

its fast approaching, best get changed, I can hear the Jaws theme [csad]

wizzler · 02/05/2011 16:58

Good luck Sue.
Although I have loved the bank holdiays, I know that I am more structured about my food in a "normal" week.. so am dreading WI tomorrow.

HeyH0 · 02/05/2011 17:17

Good luck, Sue. The result of your WI probably won't be as bad as you expect & at least you're facing the scales. :) (I had a mooch around the WW boards earlier & there were loads of people skipping, or threatening to skip, WI this week. )

TaudrieTattoo · 02/05/2011 17:22

Can anyone help me with potatoes? The points value for a raw potato is 2, but an average baked spud is 8! Am really struggling to know what carbs are best to have. I've managed to work out that I can have 100g of new potatoes, but don't really fancy them with sausages!

TIA

HeyH0 · 02/05/2011 17:39

Tawdry, I go with 1PP per 50g of raw potato & weigh them before cooking.

TaudrieTattoo · 02/05/2011 17:46

Thanks, HeyH0!

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/05/2011 18:34

good luck sue
