Welcome one and all to our 6th thread

There are lots of regulars who are well on their weigh (get it! ) Grin and others who have just joined us - we're a mixed bag, all shapes and sizes and all with different goals to achieve but we're all striving for the same thing. We're all here to will one another on with advice, support and lots of cheering! :)

So far we have lost an amazing 147 lbs since jan 2011 Shock

We're quite fast moving at times so just dive in - pour yourself a Wine or Brew and make yourself at home :)

Bad luck Piffle - perhaps it is not all genuine weight gain but some fluid retention.

Malteser - yep, I take sushi on picnics and also olives (especially the deli ones with the red chilli in each) - am a proper ponce. Cooked chicken drumsticks (without the skin) are also good, plus a pot of houmous and crudites plus the usual fruit...

malteserbunny · 22/04/2011 17:05

thanks hmc i hadn't thought about drumsticks

NoWayNoHow · 22/04/2011 18:35

piffle sorry for gain [busad] I'm sure it's just a blip and you'll lose it all and then some next week

malteser definitely crudites with reduced fat dips, and if you can be bothered, this and this (both premade and packed up cold) make great easy-to-pack picnic foods.

androbbob · 22/04/2011 21:17

Evening - seems to be a McDonalds theme today - we ended up there too! And also malteserbunny I too had chicken salad for tea!

No WI this week - cycled to work on the day would normally WI and gym closed today. Did Week 6 run 2 today - was realtively easy and I managed to do a total of 4.15km in the 30 minutes - so I am getting closer to the 5k target! Sunday will be the 25 min run and I am planning to do it outside!!

Busy week this week and a busy weekend - but finally got the tracker out today and I have 1PP left today!

Dug out old summer clothes and sorted into piles - to wear now, too big and too small. I have plenty to wear now and a good selection to slim into - I am aiming to lose this stone I have been struggling with by the end of June and the next one by the mid to end August. Really going to knuckle down and get to it for the rest of the year as I will get to goal!! Still doing it on line and I am doing a council weight management course through work in May for 6 weeks, so after that if I am still struggling I will go back to class. Would rather not pay WW more money though!

CareyFakes · 23/04/2011 11:53

I really need to build up to jogging, I walk and walk but it's not praticle in the long run (see what I did there) due to time constraints. It's fine atm as I'm a student and walk on days off whilst DD is at nursery.

Might try building up during the summer as I have 5 months off with 3 days a week child free from 9-5. Should get a decent sports bra I guess.

I wore my first Maxi Dress today, in public Shock. I haven't worn a dress since about 1987 so it was a huge step for me. I'm a comfortable size 18, and will soon be into 16 which will be fab for me Grin

Summer is so much better, and this time next year, I will be at goal so can wear even more dresses Grin

malteserbunny · 23/04/2011 14:57

androbbob thats a good distance in the time, you must run faster than me,lol. I have been told not to run for a few weeks by the doctor, until my chest clears, i am gutted, i was getting into it and could see the end in sight IYKWIM and now when i start again i'll probably have to drop back a week

This warm weather is actually doing me a few favours, i am not wanting to pick in the evenings, probably because i'm not having as many brews.

I have actually got my legs out today, in a mini skirt (am only in the garden mind) but DH says my legs look ok and he would tell me if i didn't. The last time i wore this skirt was when i lived in cyprus, pre kids, 6 years ago, and it is looser on me know than it was then Smile it's a nice feeling

Piffle · 23/04/2011 16:40

Uh oh big BBQ tomorrow. Going to stick to meat and salad but Pimms and lager...
Plus DH on Hols...

ShouldersBackAndNoBiscuits · 23/04/2011 20:58

Hi all, posting on phone, so sorry for no name checks! Thanks for the update on blondes smokin, glad to hear she has lots of rl support.

Am trying to stave off the nibbles this evening, have so far managed to stick to a few grapes and a pear. Might go to bed soon, that'll stop me snacking!

I have a picnic lunch to get through tomorrow, everyone is bringing different things so difficult to plan ahead for, I am taking fruit and a 'sweet treat' so I have made museli bars with raisins in as I will therefore not eat them! I have a tip for any of you who like baking - add an ingredient you don't like then give away! You get the fun of making but no points! Also, have a basin of hot soapy water ready and put any tempting spoons/bowls straight in so you don't lick them.

Went to pizza express on Thursday evening, the leggera pizzas are so nice! It was a reward for sitting through peppa pig live. Dd1 loved it, I would gladly have given my ticket away!

Had a cathartic clear out on Tuesday, gave away 3 bags of clothes that are now too big. Disappointingly I can't find my thin jeans that I have been aiming to get into. No idea where they can be, but I'm sure they haven't been thrown out. Have to buy some new ones I suppose as I have now slimmed my way through all the other jeans in my wardrobe Grin need some size 12 ones for the first time in about 7 years.

Oh, and sue diet coke is no points!

hmc · 23/04/2011 22:43

Finding it tricky atm - far too many social events and gatherings during these barmy sunny easter holidays. Keep neglecting to track (because it is so difficult when constantly eating out / at friends). Need it all to get back into normal routine soon!

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 24/04/2011 00:06

Oooops, finally found the Malteser bunnies and have eaten two, a tube of mini eggs and a wispa plus bacon sarnies. Am currently -25 weekly points. Finding it very hard as loads been going on and peopie round a lot or out and all gone a bit pear shaped. Will turn over new Leaf in morning and will not eat the DC's Easter eggs.

Willabywallaby · 24/04/2011 08:00

I have to agree that my social life gets in the way of WW!

We're off to the beach today for a picnic and I'm hoping I don't eat too much houmous with my crudites. I've not tracked properly for ages what with being away and intermittent wifi/phone signal.

I'm hoping for not too much of a gain on Wednesday. Will try and track from tomorrow and definitely from Wednesday.

Thanks to Smokin for the Blondes update, still thinking........x

malteserbunny · 24/04/2011 08:08

thanks noway for those picnic ideas, the pumpkin salad sounds delish.
hmc have you got the phone on your app you could use to teack with when you are out and about?

well done on the clearout shoulders. Talking of clearouts, i have some bootcut jeans in a size 14 (tesco) if anyone is interested. They have only been worn about 4 times and are too big. They are normal leg length so about 31".
If anyone wants them just let me know

SueSylvesterforPM · 24/04/2011 09:07

Happy Easter all!! how good are we gonna be today :)

my mum got me jewellry instead bless her heart and her egg for DS melted and deflated lol, didnt bother him.

I had a bad day on friday. im really worried i've put on all 4lbs.
had my happy meal that I worked out. then.....had ice cream cake, no cream though , my dp got me a bueno ...I should have had some will power then 2 slices of Pizza failry big slices, oh I hate myself.

wizzler · 24/04/2011 10:16

Happy Easter everyone [busmile].
So far resisting the urge to indulge in all the eggs the DC have been given. Have arranged with DH that he will look after them this afternoon so I can play tennis for a couple of hours, this will hopefully negate the impact of the takeaway curry I had last night, (plus the malteser bunny chaser!)

My birthday tomorrow, so we are off to Chatsworth.. saving up my points for an icecream.

What with birthdays and easter, am not too hopeful of a loss this week.

Blondes, if you are reading this, hope you are doing ok.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 24/04/2011 10:26

Happy Easter everyone and Happy Birthday Wizzler Can very much relate to the no loss thing after yesterday, am minus 37 points currently! Going cold turkey on chocolate today for a bit.

Sue don't beat yourself up, you won't have put it all back on, might show a pound or two if you had a sneaky peak now but it will come off again. A lot of people would have put off starting until after Easter but you got stuck in and went for it. There will always be days/ weeks when it goes pear shaped , just get back on the wagon and start tracking again. It's good practice for learning how to maintain when you get to goal I always think.

Have a lovely day at the beach Willaby, lovely weather for it.

Malteserbunny how lovely for size 14s not to fit , am looking forward to that day !

SueSylvesterforPM · 24/04/2011 13:51

Thanks Wynken had a big salad for dinner couldn't finish it

oatabix for brekkie

and just 2 small pieces of choc egg

ShouldersBackAndNoBiscuits · 24/04/2011 17:12

Back from picnic it was delish. Had a small BNS and goats cheese quiche, some wafer thin ham and an oatcake and two sliver of a spanish tortilla. Then had a ginger biscuit and a wafer type biscuit. Stuck to fruit and dizzy eater after that. Was thinking about counting it as 20 pp altogether? Does that sound ok? Managed to avoid the Easter eggs and cakes though!

ShouldersBackAndNoBiscuits · 24/04/2011 17:12

Fizzy water, not dizzy eater!

TaudrieTattoo · 25/04/2011 09:36

Can I join?

Had a family barbecue yesterday and my dsis put some photos on facebook. Let's just say I was caught off guard, and my oh my...I joined WW online at 2 this morning!

I could do with some support/ideas. I really have to do it this time, I've been far too big for about a year - it's been a really stressful year, so I kind of know why, but it has to stop now.

wizzler · 25/04/2011 10:05

Hi Tawdry.. welcome. There is lots of support on here

People do WW in lots of different ways. You will need to work out what works best for you, but my twopenneth is that I definitely need to go to the meetings. Makes me focus.

Also, set yourself small goals to start with. Not sure how much you want to lose, but IMO its better to say "I need to lose half a stone in 5 weeks" then to say " I want to lose 3 stone by Xmas.

Anyway, well done for taking the first step. You will feel so much better when the first few pounds come off !

HeyH0 · 25/04/2011 10:50

Welcome tawdry, if you've got any questions I'm sure you'll find help here.

Another 1.5kg off for me yesterday, so I'm up to 13kg. I've bitten the bullet and booked a fitness assessment with a personal trainer, I know it's going to be demoralising, but I want to get to the point where I'm reasonably comfortable exercising in public again. Baby steps 'n' all that...

Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday weekend & happy birthday, Wizzler.

froot · 25/04/2011 14:42

Back after 3 weeks busy-ness and bad behaviour . Have sat in sun for 2 hours reading all the posts since last looked - had about 30 pages to catch up on ! In complete shock about Blondes devastating news Sad Sad Sad I'm glad she has friends supporting her .

Sorry no namechecking am on phone and 600 posts too many to comment on but hello newbies and hello again oldies.

Am half a stone heavier than a month ago due to weeks skiing then birthday then Easter . To top it off sil gave me a real granny hamper for my bday - am I a complete bitch for thinking what a crap present ? I usually give her Origins stuff or jewellery ! Will give most of it away as all chocolate and cheesy biscuits . Think she is trying to sabotage me and am doing good enough job of that without her help !

Anyhow was at goal a month ago so know I can get back there . Have kept up the exercise and dd doing shred with me which is great . Am still off the wagon today but will be clambering back on tomorrow . Off to a conference in 3 weeks 2 days ( not that I'm counting!) and want to lose 4 lb to get to 9.12 by then. Mr Dukan said 9.8 for my true weight and would be great to get there for July . Not going to follow his crackpot diet tho pp much better !

TaudrieTattoo · 25/04/2011 14:43

Thanks for the welcome. Just been shopping with my iphone app and it seems fairly easy - do struggle a bit with working out serving sizes, etc, but hope it will become second nature.

I work full time so won't be doing meetings, unless I really struggle. Don't fancy giving up an evening to do slimming class.

I want to lose a stone, to start with.

herdingcats · 25/04/2011 16:01

Welcome tawdry.
I'm dreading WI this eek we have been away for Easter and it was much harder to keep up with my PP.
Hopefully all the walking we did which I have now logged (36pp) will help offset anything I have overlooked when I tracked.
WI on Wednesday so some excercise before then may help.
Good luck this week everyone.

NoWayNoHow · 25/04/2011 17:44

Hey all

Sorry, I've missed so much so can't name check, but just a quick welcome to tawdry and happy birthdya to wizzler.

Have had an okay weekend food wise, I bit over PP but tbh now that I'm only a couple of lbs from goal, I didn't really track and kind of winged it by totting up in my head.

I've found that I've not been religious about tracking on the weekends recently - have just enjoyed myself - but when weeks start I don't go over my 29 a day, and it seems to be working. I guess this is the kind of mindset you need to adopt when you are trying to maintain, as I don't see how you can track food for the rest of your life. I think after a while it becomes instinctive when you're doing it right/wrong.

Only time will tell on Friday whether I'm kidding myself! Grin
