welcome carey, thats a good loss so far, good luck for WI

dontdillydally · 20/04/2011 10:14

I NEED SOME ADVICE/HELP URGENTLY - WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?

I AM sticking to plan, hardly touching my extra's and am walking daily and doing some exercise once a week. I am not cheating but still my eight loss is very slow. I have in total prob 1.5 stone to loose. Please have a read and tell me what you think:

Week 1 = lost 4 pounds

Week 2 = stayed the same (didnt do anything differently)

Week 3 = lost 3 pounds

Week 4 = lost 1.5 pounds

Week 5 = put on a pound (again onyl had one "bad day" but I could of counted and used my extras to cover this

Week 6 = tomorrow but haved weighed on my scales and they are saying I have stayed the same

CareyFakes · 20/04/2011 12:03

The less you have to lose the slower the weight loss is I gather. You have lost 7.5lbs in 6 weeks, that's bloody great.

I have 6 and half stone to lose in total, my weight loss will slow up (it's starting to now) because your body adjusts. Do you track your activity points? I have a pedometer and earn around 30 activity points from walking a week but touch neither those or my propoints.

Slow and steady wins the race. A girl at my meeting, who only had to lose 1.5 stone, did so in 3 months

dontdillydally · 20/04/2011 12:12

thats Carey - its just so frustrating. I do track but dont really touch my extra weeklys as if I did I dont think I would lose anything. Thsi week I must admit Ive been extra good ie.

breakfast = fresh fruit salad ... banana, apple, straws 0 points or porridge 3 points
mid morning - apple 0
lunch = homemade soup, rivitas, cottage cheese, salad. Fruit again for pud = prob 7 points
afternoon - 1 biscuit and straws, or apple - 2 points
dinner - tuna, feta, olives, salad, dressing with crackers or cous cours, or salmon with veg, pots - 12 points
curly wurly - 3 points

some left over that I count for my milk in my tea, so use my daily but no extras

Piffle · 20/04/2011 12:41

I think only fruit for breakfast is a mistake
Though it is zero pointed it is heavily fruit sugar
You need a cereal or egg I think for carb or protein

dontdillydally · 20/04/2011 12:48

sometimes have porridge

ShouldersBackAndNoBiscuits · 20/04/2011 14:10

Hi everyone, I lost another lb this week, so now in total I have lost 40.5 lbs. Hoping to get my 6th silver 7 next week... this is my motivation for avoiding Easter eggs!

mistlethrush · 20/04/2011 14:33

Have bitten the bullet and signed up today. The monthly membership makes it easier than it used to be by the look of it! Long haul ahead....

loubloutwinmum · 20/04/2011 14:36

Well done to those that have lost wizzler, benbon, slovenly - probably forgotten someone.

Sorry you gained littlefriend and littlefish - stay positive and hopefully be a good loss next week.

malteserbunny hope your chest infection gets better soon.

Welcome forixora - I have done propoint online since the end of November and lost 3 stone and got to goal on Monday. I have found it brilliant and with the support I got on this forum, it was enough for me to keep going.

I had a blow up meal last night to celebrate getting to goal - however, I got full very quickly and didn't manage pudding! Back on track today though and intend to be good until my holiday! I ordered a new swimsuit - that is motivation enough!

Loving the sunshine except I have no clothes!!!! Have a good week and bank holiday weekend everyone.

Piffle · 20/04/2011 15:32

Gah just got my dang AF... Cannot believe it has been 4 weeks already GRRRR
Which means I can whistle for a loss this week then :(
Anyway I've defrosted chicken breast so dinner will be point friendly...
This heat is making it hard to resist quick easy things to eat...

MrsKwazii · 20/04/2011 18:11

Hello all, had my first WI this morning and have lost .... 6lbs! .... am v chuffed. Great motiviation to keep on going. Am finding the revamped website really helpful to point food and keep track of my points too. Good luck everyone else who has a WI this week.

Shoulders that's an amazing loss! How long have you been on the programme? Really great to hear someone who's doing so well. Any good tips you can pass on to me and other newbies?

CareyFakes · 20/04/2011 19:37

Wow great losses!

I have managed to lose on my AF days, even last week when it was due the day I had my WI! I lost 3lbs. I just drank a hell of a lot of water (the website does give some advice on AF and WI's).

I lost 1.5lbs in WI, just another 6 before the midway point for me and I get my hair cut Shock.

herdingcats · 20/04/2011 20:40

Hi all, everyone is doing really well.
I'm just back from WI and thats another 1.5lbs gone. I still can't quite believe it is going. 11.5lbs in 5 weeks Grin

wizzler · 20/04/2011 21:16

Well done Mrsk, Herding,Shoulders and Carey.

Dontdilly, If Blondes was here she would be telling you not to weigh yourself at home all the time. I suggest you eat some carbs for breakfast, which will help you spread your points through the day.

A lot of people have a good loss inn week 1, then sts in week 2. Healthy weight loss is about 1.5lbs per week, thought its hard when everyone else seems to be losing so much more. Keep at it! You are still half a stone lighter then when you started.. be positive!!

hmc · 20/04/2011 22:40

Well done MrsKwazii and Herdingcats

Hope you feel better soon malteser - its rubbish having a chest infection in hot weather - it seems so incongruous!

I didn't go to my WI tonight (will go next week) as dh wasn't home in time and i couldn't muster the enthusiasm to take dc along, but I weighted myself at home and appear to have lost 1lb; which is pretty good given a weekend away and eating out throughout.

Dontdillydally - 7.5lb lost in 6 weeks is a fair result, but if you want a higher mean loss you'll have to pick up your activity levels (imo). You mention that you walk - but how far? and is it at a leisurely pace or a power walk?

malteserbunny · 21/04/2011 09:13

morning all,

well done on the losses mrsk shoulders carey herding and hmc

I had a surprise loss of 3.5lb this morning Smile so i am back within my goal weight range.

dontdillydally are you drinking enough water (2 litres a day)? I would suggest upping your protein and to be honest cutting down on the fruit, although it is 0pp it is not free IYSWIM. WW have been suggesting no more than 5 portions a day due to the sugars but some people find they have to eat less fruit and more veg to get a loss. HTH

hmc Docs have put me on strong antibiotics, steroids and stronger dose of inhaled steroids so hopefully i should be feeling better soon. I think they don't want to risk me developing pneumonia again

Have a nice day everyone

IHeartIona · 21/04/2011 09:40

well done malteserbunny! hope you feel better soon

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 21/04/2011 09:52

On phone so can't catch up but can see there have been some great losses which I think is amazing for school holidays.

Didn't go to WI this morning but weighed on Wii and have stayed the same as is TOTM so pleased with that.

ClaireDeLoon · 21/04/2011 10:11

WI for me this morning and lost 2.5lbs, another 1.5lbs to go and I'll have got my 10%.

Congrats to all the losers (special mention to lou for getting to goal, massive congratulations) and commiserations to any gainers.

Thinking of blondes, miss her on here.

sparkle101 · 21/04/2011 10:24

Hi everyone,

Have been absent for a while, having a tough time with life and trying to get ready to go back to work after maternity leave, feeling shite and so WW gone out the window at the moment but just wanted to pop on to wish blondes all my thoughts and condolences. Am not very good at stuff like this but am thinking about you.

hmc · 21/04/2011 10:51

Well done malteser and CDL for losses and Wynken for staying the same. Blondes does leave quite a gap on here doesn't she CDL, she always brought a bit of humour to the proceedings and is definitely missed.

mistlethrush · 21/04/2011 12:08

My thoughts are with Blondes and her family.

However, need some advice please, having not done WW for years and getting to grips with the new points etc. Have so far pointed breakfast (even weighed it) and what I'm going to have for lunch - and it comes to 11 points. How on earth am I going to get to 29???? (and still have any hope in losing weight)

ClaireDeLoon · 21/04/2011 12:27

What have you had mistle? Will you have a bigger meal tonight? Adding things like dairy which you do need for health will always up your points used, muller light = 2 pp for example. You really do need to use all your 29 PPs. Realistically is what you're having for breakfast and lunch enough to keep you full to dinner? If not then add a healthy side order to your lunch (a pitta bread, some low fat hummus and slices of vegetables etc.).

It will take you a week or two to work through how the plan will work best for you.

NoWayNoHow · 21/04/2011 12:54

Hey all

Loads to catch up on!

CareyFakes welcome and congrats on loss!

Malteser glad the doc is sorting you out - sounds like a plethora of meds! Well done on the loss too.

dontdillydally 7.5lb is really respectable for 6 weeks when you've not got as much to lose and are getting closer to your goal. Don't give yourself a hard time - the longer it takes to come off, the more likely it is that it'll stay off.

Well done kwazii (WOW!), shoulders, herdingcats, hmc and ClaireDeLoon for your losses. Some great figures in there!

wynken glad that you managed a sts during TOTM - I put on 1.5lbs in one day with AF!! Shock

sparkle sorry to hear things are tough for you at the moment. Don't worry about WW, sometimes we just have to focus on life and the important things.

Thinking about blondes a lot right now too.

mistelthrush, i agree with Claire's ideas for using up your 29PP (and you really need to use them up. Also try meal plans for you dinner - then you know at the start of the day how many PP you're eating that night, and can eat breakfast and lunch PP accordingly.

Got to run to fetch the boy from nursery. Good luck for any more WI's!

hmc · 21/04/2011 13:11

mistlethrush - are you sure it came to just 11 pps? If you haven't done WW for years could you be counting 'em up wrong? (easily done! - I counted 2 slices of weightwatchers malted bloomer bread as 2 pps for ages because it is supposed to be 1pp per slice, however due to rounding up, 2 slices is actually 3...) - what did you have?
