threestepsforward · 12/06/2011 20:18

notyummy Grin - I'm trying to picture that and mind is boggling! (Mind is also boggling at doing a double Shred with 5kg Shock)

forgive me Shredders for I have sinned. After vowing I would do 2 days back to back, I've not found the time today. In my defence, I've been washing down / sanding / painting between 11 am and 6 pm so think I've got my exercise worth in there for the day. God I hate decorating!!! It's not even the painting ... it's the preparation, it goes on, and on, and on lol

Bit miffed I couldn't fit in a Shred though, will definitely do so tomorrow.

Thanks knotty re the recipes Smile

I WILL be posting tomorrow to say I have Shredded!!!

chocolateshoes · 12/06/2011 20:35

well I always used to feel a bit smug during those dumbell cleans cos I could do them and presumed from Jilian telling me not to give up, that everyone else found it really hard. And now I find out that everyone finds them easy. Grrrr.

Interesting Skimummy. Maybe I should get Ripped in 30 then...

VenetiaLanyon · 13/06/2011 09:46

Happy Monday, all. Day 28 today, 2 days to go; am not convinced that the Anita - stylee sit-ups on Shred L3 are any easier than the Natalie ones - anyone else? My 3 year old was trying valiantly if inexpertly to put her socks on this morning, and I nearly told her not to 'phone it in....what is Jillian doing to me...? Grin

Jacksterbear · 13/06/2011 09:47

threesteps if it helps, MFP lists "cleaning, vigorous effort" (it doesn't have a specific "decorating" activity in the list but cleaning seems about equivalent!) as burning 182 cals per hour! Grin

NMTZ x4 circuits yesterday. WFH today so should be able to fit in a good exercise session. Interestingly, did the DVD on my PC for the 1st time yest, usually do it on my wide-screen TV, and suddenly noticed how thin they all are, when you're not watching them in wide-screen!! Shock

Jacksterbear · 13/06/2011 09:50

Venetia well done for nearly reaching the end! I agree re the leg position on the sit ups, but it is easier if you throw your arms forward a la Anita because the momentum helps lift you up, but if you keep your arms back a la Nat, your tummy muscles have to work harder to lift you, I find.

threestepsforward · 13/06/2011 20:07

182 cals an hour Jacksterbear Shock I'd say I did at least 5 hours of very vigoruous decorating yesterday, woop woop!

Today I put in another 4 hours hard decorating slog, and managed to squeeze in a L1 Shred too, at the cost of work though - t'will be a late night tonight!

I was pleased that level 1 felt like I'd properly worked out. Particularly the squat raise things after the push ups, really had to push myself to stick with them and not phone it in!

Send positive thoughts to my lovely dog for tomorrow if you have a mo. He's 12 years old and is having a general tomorrow so they can x-ray his shoulder, which has been bad for a while. He's a 12 year old trapped in a 2 year old's body, but at this age a general is always a bit of a risk, so feeling a bit worried tonight Sad

fearnelinen · 13/06/2011 21:25

L1D-I've lost count! Today and it DIDN'T HURT Grin Not one bit. The ankle that went pop on D3 finally stopped hurting today and I didn't even feel puffed out!

Ready for L2 then....aaargh!

fearnelinen · 13/06/2011 21:27

Oooh, positive vibes coming your way 3steps.

threestepsforward · 13/06/2011 22:39

Thanks fearne Smile - just realised I meant to say 2 year old trapped in a 12 year body and not vice versa - doh!

Bloody well done on getting to the end of L1! I still find it hard when I come back to it, I think that's what's so good about Shred. Sounds like you're ready and set for L2 Grin

Jacksterbear · 14/06/2011 08:08

All the best today threesteps.

notyummy · 14/06/2011 08:11

Hope your dogs op goes ok today threesteps. Our family pet dog whilst growing up lived to the grand old age of 18, so they can live for years yet!

knottyhair · 14/06/2011 10:02

Threesteps, hope the op goes OK for your dog today.
Just done a L1 6W6P. Still find the spider planks followed by mountain climbers really hard, especially on the second go round! Does anyone else find the side crunches easy? I'm not sure if I'm doing them right.

VenetiaLanyon · 14/06/2011 11:30

Good luck with the op, Threesteps - lots of good recovery vibes coming your dog's way.

Good news on lack of pain, Fearnelinen Smile

threestepsforward · 14/06/2011 12:50

Hello you lovely people!

Aw, thank you so much for your positive vibes - they did the trick Grin - vet just called to say he's come through the general fine and can be picked up later. Now we just have to hope the x-rays show what the problem is as the 'no walks' policy is driving him mad!

Hoping to Shred or 6W6P later but will see how I feel as I have somehow managed to pick up a cold and it's sitting right on my chest, feels like fire when I cough.

Hope everyone is having a fab day Smile

TooTiredToArgue · 14/06/2011 14:30

Hello all

Haven't posted for a while but been lurking in the background.

Decided to give 6W6P a go again yesterday (only the 2nd time since I got it). I was all over the place and wondered how long is was before all you experts got into the swing of it. Did you use weights straight away, and if so, how heavy? I've been sticking with Shred Level 3 with 2kg weights, and I work up a nice sweat doing that. Has anyone had better results with 6w6p (than Shred, for example)? I feel a lot fitter than I did, but think my muscles are still hiding under a nice layer of fat, so should I stick with more cardio until I've burnt some of that off? I'm going on holiday 3rd week in August, so am determined to look ok(ish) in a bikini.

Knotty I thought the same thing after the side lunges. I can't be doing them right.

notyummy · 15/06/2011 09:03

Did L1 6W6P last night - I have only done it once before because then I went straight to L2 all the time to torture myself. In general it is definitely easier than L2, HOWEVER....those side planks up on straight arms with bottom leg coming through are HORRIBLE. Interesting DH rang me last night to say that he had done both levels back to back and it had nearky killed him (quelle surprise...) and that he had nearly collapsed!

Out for a run this morning as working from home. Sports day this PM at DDs school Not sure if there is a parents race and whether I should participate or not!

notyummy · 15/06/2011 09:04

Tootired - I think if you can shred at the 'harder' level then you should def be using weights for 6W6P. I do agree though that it is more complex to learn. Stick with it and 3/4 times in you will be an old hand. I use 3 kg.

VenetiaLanyon · 15/06/2011 09:59

I have finished the Shred! 30 days on the trot from doing bugger all Grin Grin

Now I need to start it all over again, following Natalie this time, and possibly upping the weights Shock, but possibly not.

Am definitely more toned and have fewer aches and pains, but seem to have plateaued a bit on weight loss, and have a stone to shift still....

notyummy · 15/06/2011 10:05

Wow that is fantastic Venetia! It does sound like you may need to up the weights (sorry!) or alternate with another DVD? 6W6P or NMTZ? I find being really careful with my processed carbs and cutting out all booze also has a good effect on weight loss, although you may be doing this already.

knottyhair · 15/06/2011 10:14

Shock at your DP doing both levels back to back notyummy! I've just done 4 circuits of NMTZ, interspersed with 3 x 2 min cardio circuits - I really like doing it that way. Still really struggle with those pesky windshield wipers though. Think I need to get some 3kg weights for the deadlifts and concentration curls. And well done Venetia!

threestepsforward · 15/06/2011 11:00

chortling at all the bizarre exercise names in dvds/levels I haven't done (windscreen wipers!)

Venetia congratulations Grin. I think we've all hit a plateau at some point (whether physical or mental or both!). I reckon starting again and following Nadalie, with higher weights like notyummy said, will kick start you back into action. Maybe look at different Killian dvds so you don't get bored? Well done for doing 30 days straight through, that is fantastic!

Tootired I really feel the effects of 6W6P, L2 particularly. I know I haven't mastered the form for all of it, but boy various body parts remind me I've done it the next day! It's definitely more complicated than Shred but after a couple of goes, I'm starting to remember what's coming up...

My boy has bounced back amazingly today Smile. Sadly the x-rays show his leg is riddled with arthritis, so ball games / games with dogs are a thing of the past now Sad. He's on anti-inflammatories to manage it, but it is a question of managing it, as it can't be mended. He's a staffie fgs - how do you stop a staffie from playing with balls!!

Managed Shred L2 last night, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, but couldn't do both sets of the V-raises with 2 kg weights [wimp] - would have thought I should be able to by now!

Have a good day all

TooTiredToArgue · 15/06/2011 13:06

Thanks ladies. My thighs really ache today, oddly, as do my shoulders (but reverted back to my faithful old Shred yesterday). Was sweating bucket loads by the time I'd finished. Managed just about all Nadalee style jumping lunges (with zero style and much wobbling). Hurrah! Smile

Not brave enough to attempt 6W6P level 2 yet. Need to up my game and try to master level 1 first, I reckon.

Notyummy not sure the other parents will know what's hit them in the Parents' race if you chose to partake!

TooTiredToArgue · 15/06/2011 13:08

Oh, and threesteps sorry to hear about your dog. On the plus side, anti inflammatories worked wonders on my mum's cat, and she was knocking on a bit......

notyummy · 15/06/2011 15:48

Threesteps - those v raises are HARD so dont beat yourself up!

Did a 7 mile run this AM as was working from home, and then was bantered into doing the mums race. There were 20 of us, so a good turnout. I was really trying hard not to look like scary competitive mum (which I am bit really...) so had gone in flip flops....which was a mistake as everyone else was is trainers!! Ran in barefeet, had a rubbish start as a result and came 2nd out of 20. Not bad at all - especially when I discovered the winner was 12 years younger than me!

knottyhair · 15/06/2011 16:41

Well done notyummy!
