Let's start afresh!

OP posts:
CointreauVersial · 03/05/2011 17:55

I don't know about the cold, but a metallic taste is a fairly common side effect.

olismum23 · 03/05/2011 18:27

Thanks its a pretty bad cold at the moment so i am having and early night fx for tomorrow my weigh in, hope all the other ladies who are sweet enough are doing well today.
:)

FreeButtonBee · 03/05/2011 21:15

Oops. Mid afternoon munchies struck and i succumbed to a bag of prawn cocktail crisps and some haribo. Damn.

Back on the wagon for dinner - the chicken i mentioned above, with rocket, asparagus and roasted red pepper salad. V nice. Need to drink about 5 pints of water and then go to bed!

Sarraburd · 04/05/2011 06:45

Welcome olismum! Yes i don't do Atkins, more just avoid obvious high carb sources and eating loads of green veg and lean protein to fill up. Ignore your rellies; it's great you're losing and if you eat loads of veg chicken etc how can that possibly be unhealthy? Eating cholesterol doesn't give you high cholesterol anyway so eggs are fine.

Fridge a bit bare so yesterday:

  • yog with almonds and flaxseed
  • lunch leftover campsite veggieburger with leftover ratatouille
  • dinner random fridge jumble (thanks poodle!) of courgette, feta, pinenuts, tapenade and last of the ham and melon

Cf hope you're feeling better. Flat Coke works wonders - had dysentery and ecoli in separate developing countries and both times the doctors prescribed flat coke to rehydrate

ConstanceFelicity · 04/05/2011 08:43

Hello all
Think it may be a bit more than food poisining. Fainted with the pain three times last night, I honestly thought I must be in labour (am not pg!) Bad runs, hot flushes, fainting- all in the middle of the night (which may be because it's then that I'm digesting my food.) Doc appt now, am afraid he's going to say it's a virus and there's nothing he can do... It really is v painful...

FreeButtonBee · 04/05/2011 10:51

Shit CF, that sounds awful! Fingers crossed that the doctor works out what it is. Fainting is not good.

Lost another 3/4 lb today so back to 10 5 ish, which is good. Holiday doesn't seem to have done too much damage. If I can get back to 10 3 by Sunday, that would be great. Then concentrate on getting under bastarding 10 st. Aiming to have no booze until Saturday. We shall see.

Had youghurt and blueberries for breakfast, not sure what lunch will be then rump of lamb in a salad of some sort. Maybe with courgettes and mint and feta (if I can be bothered to go to the supermarket).

ConstanceFelicity · 04/05/2011 11:09

Doc was nice. I have a kidney infection that may or may not be the cause, my pee has been sent off now. I've been given painkillers and antibiotics. Doc did a few pee stick tests there and then and said that I was not eating enough- Apparently next to no sugar in my pee- But didn't seem concerned. He said I should have toast and jam if I was hungry, but I am a bit scaredof having anything if the digestion is going to be so painful :( Might stick to water today, we'll see how I go.

Timbachick · 04/05/2011 13:59

Oh CF, that's horrible. Sad My DSis has had two kidney infections...one had her hallucinating and the other put her in hospital! The pain, as far as I know, if horrendous. I hope the painkillers and anti-bio' kick in soon. Keep up the water intake. Hope you feel tons better soon. Tx

ConstanceFelicity · 04/05/2011 15:21

Thanks Timba. I have had kidney infections before, and this feels completely different. But I am having a day off food today to cleanse my system a bit, drinking loads of water, and hopefully tomorrow will bring with it good health!

olismum23 · 04/05/2011 15:26

Oh cf that sounds awful i hope you get better soon.
Well after week one i have went from 17st 6 1/2 to 16st 8! just over 12lbs in a week! I am very chuffed :) I am not on strict aktins either i had nuts but i im more finding my way but using the plan as a guide to what to do. I am hoping for 3lb next week i know it will be less as the first lot is a bit of water weight too.

ConstanceFelicity · 04/05/2011 16:19

Shock olismum that is amazing!!!! 12lbs in one week! Well done you!
I eat nuts too, and seeds. I always roast them and stick them in a salad.

Timbachick · 04/05/2011 17:58

WOW Shock - that is fab. Well done. Grin

BecauseImWorthIt · 04/05/2011 18:43

Well done!

CointreauVersial · 05/05/2011 00:03

Well done, Olismum!

Sorry to hear your woes, CF; look after yourself, eat lots of soothing things, and I hope you will feel better soon.

I've been good so far this week - so much easier to stick to it during the working week.

Yesterday:
Breakfast - blueberries, greek yog & almonds
Lunch - huge pile of raw veggies with tzatziki dip
Dinner - bacon and eggs (was in a hurry and felt like a protein-fest)

Today:
Breakfast - as above
Lunch - spinach leaf salad with salami and chunks of brie
Dinner - Mexican chicken*, a family fave

*Brown some chicken pieces, add a little chopped tomato, chili powder/flakes, balsamic vinegar, tomato puree, cook through. Serve with grated cheese, shredded lettuce, chopped pepper and sour cream. The DCs roll theirs into soft tortillas, but DH and I used iceberg lettuce leaves. Yum!

CointreauVersial · 05/05/2011 00:04

Oh yes, haven't had any wine since the weekend, either.

Timbachick · 05/05/2011 07:25

You are good CV - your halo should be shining brightly Grin

Mine is also shining out...mainly because I have had a gastro-flare up and have been in agony whenever I eat Sad so have had the bare minimum to get by. Think it is on the way out now so am hopeful to be able to view food as the friend and not the enemy Smile.

And yes, CV, why IS it easier on to keep to any king of plan during the working week and then it all goes to poo on the weekend? Grin I tend to have to keep to plan (because of food intolerances) but find it much easier during the week. When the weekend comes ... good grief, those cravings kick in Grin

Hope everyone is having a good week?

FreeButtonBee · 05/05/2011 10:33

OM - well done! That's an amazing start. Keep up the water intake. I find it makes a big difference to my weight loss and also my hunger levels.

another lb down today. Excellent. My holiday overeating is receding into the background quite quickly. I think no booze for the past few days has also helped. I am v tired though so trying to go to bed early and not faff on the internet til midnight.

I had an excellent dinner last night.

Lamb rump steaks griddled on cast iron pan very quickly so that they were scorched on the outside and still pink in the middle. I chopped the pieces into fairly chunky pieces.

Then made a rocket, tomato and red onion salad with a few slices of mature goatrs cheese (ie hard goats cheese, not the soft stuff) with some olive oil and balsamic glaze. Top with the still hot lamb. It was really really good.

I find I am bad on Friday night, good during the day on Sat, then bad Sat night and all day sunday. It's much harder at the weekend, definitely.

CF - how's the patient today?

Poodlehorse · 05/05/2011 11:19

OMG 12lb in a week I have managed 1.25lb in a week. Pathetic isn't it? but at least it is down not up and booze had a fair part to play. Plus I made fajitas last night and was only going to eat the chicken mix but in the end had two tortillas. I hang my head in shame. Wednesdays are a downfall day as I have a busy afternoon/evening and if I get that hungry by the time I see food I just think, sod it. Off to the dentist and then going to stock up on some essentials as I fancy cake and have found a recipe for lemon and poppy seed cake but I need spelt flour. Right better run and face the telling off from the hygienist. Are they all like daughters of Hitler?

ConstanceFelicity · 05/05/2011 14:05

Mmmm lemon and poppyseed cake

I am far better thanks beebuttonbee. Went about 40 hours just on water to try and cleanse my system a bit, and then had piece of toast with jam that the doc said I should. (I won't tell you how lovely it was!) No pain last night, but tonight will be the test as I have stuff to digest. I also slept 11 hours straight last night, so hopefully that will have done its magic!

My hands look thin today! Shame about my gut... :o

Sarraburd · 05/05/2011 15:14

Glad to hear you're feeling a bit better cf and good luck for tonight.

And well done Oli's mum!!! Wow!

The scales are telling me I've lost two and three quarter pounds since yesterday morning, which I don't quite believe. Let's see what they say tomorrow.

But cf's thin hands reminds me that regardless of what they are saying, I keep getting people telling me I've lost loads of weight, even though actually I haven't really (scales today 9.9, and started at almost ten) so only not quite five pounds (and probably actually only three as I don't believe the scales) - it's the carb bloat that's gone though and my face arms bingo wings stomach etc are all much less flabby.

Yesterday
Breakfast eggs cottage cheese and mushroom
Lunch courgette feta and mint frigate with salad
Supper salmon and French beans

Fbb loving the sound of your lamb mmmm!

And Bwiw lol at the cheese mcmuffin - reminds me there is an egg and sausage muffin recipe in one of my lc books, will seek it out...

Sarraburd · 05/05/2011 15:15

Fritata not frigate, damn autocorrect

CointreauVersial · 05/05/2011 16:34

Spooky, Sarra, I had frittata for lunch (no, not a small ship) - it was reduced for quick sale in Waitrose Blush

Not sure I was supposed to eat the whole thing, but it was rather tasty.

Sarraburd · 05/05/2011 17:34

Ah it would help if I spelt it right perhaps... Wink

Totally agree that it is so much easier to stick to lc mid-week. It's always the weekends I go off the rails probably because of all the alcohol

Today breakfast yog flax almonds
Lunch sushi (no rice, but a few glass noodles in with the tofu seaweed miso soup I had first).

And just had a slightly weird but bear with me snack: semi-soft boiled egg with a bit of mushroom pate on top. Was actually vg

No idea what I'm going to have for supper.

olismum23 · 05/05/2011 18:05

Thanks for all the congratulations ladies i am chuffed but i am sure a lot would have been water weight. Hoping for 3lb this week.

Tea tonight: steak and broccoli with cheese sauce yum!

ConstanceFelicity · 05/05/2011 18:36

After yesterday's fasting, I have eaten a lot today.

2 slices of toast and jam, as recommended by the doctor (and appreciated by my taste buds... It's been about 10 weeks since I had bread!) Shock
Ham salad lunch
Banana
Ham, avocado and cashew nut salad. Then I looked at the label on the cashews. The fat in those bloody things! Shock
Expect a hike in weight in tomorrow morning's weigh-in.
