Evening.

1 lb off for me, which is as per usual ( 13.5lbs off in 11 weeks I think). I only ate 7 weeklies Blondes. Have saved enough points today for a guiness (which I will justify to self as "good for the blood")

Finally got round to making the thai chicken soup from the booklet this week, very tasty ( good job as I have enough to feed the whole of kent!)

Wynken, 3.5 stone is amazing, and hmc, going from a size 20 to a size 14 is really good going.

Androbob, hope the back clears up, sounds horrid. Hope you enjoyed the maltesers.

Noway , Loublou, and Littlefriend well done on your losses.

Jimble, welcome !

Immortal, I recommend the WW lemon and ginger cookies.... as good as full fat biccies

Benbon. Welcome, if you carry on at an average of 3lbs per week you will be one of our star performers!

NoWayNoHow · 22/03/2011 20:38

Congrats wizzler - and another Kentish WWer I see!

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/03/2011 20:51

benbon welcome and Congrats on fab loss so far Envy

abgirl well done on loss

wizzler well done on lb. You only had a few of your 49. If you ate another 40pp do you think you would have gained?

OP posts:
benbon · 22/03/2011 21:18

well that loss was including the slimmingworld loss but seems to be going ok... didnt want to get on the scales today after i consumed nearly my body weight in vk kick on sat but somehow managed to lose 2.5lbs!

wizzler · 22/03/2011 21:36

Noway.. I am from Sheffield Grin

Blondes. I think I would have popped!

ShouldersBackAndNoBiscuits · 22/03/2011 21:43

Hi all,

I'm very far from Kent, in fact I don't think I've ever even been there. Will you still talk to me? Grin

WI tomorrow morning for me, (blondes have eaten no weeklies for your spreadsheet)

Actually, I wonder if it also depends on the kind of things you use your points on? I've been eating a lot of wafer thin ham/turkey, prawns, fish, ryvita, couscous, soup, eggs, crumpets and philadelphia light and eating a lot LESS bread, pasta, potatoes. I've lost an average of 3lb a week so far. However, I haven't eaten any weeklies ever really, and I am also supposed to have an extra 14 points for BF and I don't eat those either. I feel like I am eating plenty, I'm not hungry and I would eat about the amount I'm eating if I was doing it myself at home so I think I wouldn't lose weight if I have the equivalent of an extra Pizza Express Leggera pizza a day! Does that make sense?

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/03/2011 21:48

shoulders you can be an honorary member as well :) how the hell can you not eat weekies every week Shock

i would die of hunger :(

but yes if you did eat them and bf pp then sure you wouldnt lose 3lbs a week

benbon congrats on weight loss

OP posts:
wizzler · 22/03/2011 21:57

Blondes.. perhaps as Shoulders is BF, she is not drinking as much alcohol, so she can spend more of her points on food and not feel the need for weeklies...... ( not wishing to cause offence)

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/03/2011 22:02

haha, so subtle wizzler i rarely drink booze as just cant justify the pp :(

the only time i may drink is if out at weekend and from my weekies

all my dailies (29) are on food

OP posts:
Piffle · 22/03/2011 22:08

First time ever have dailies left but ate plenty today...
Am amazed at some of the incredible commitment from some of you and the losses totals are fab!

wizzler · 22/03/2011 22:12

Actually, I agree with you completely re Weeklies Blondes, and come the revolution when you stand proud in the midst of devastation with your "you can't eat your weeklies and lose weight" banner, I shall be right behind you , hoping that the banner waving counts as an activity point!

Littlefish · 22/03/2011 22:14

I'm delighted to say that I've lost another pound Grin

That's 2 stone 12 and a half altogether. I'm edging closer and closer to my 3 stone mini target. Just 5 stone to go after that, but I feel really positive about having nearly got to a 3 stone loss. I'm happy to chip away at this extra weight for as long as it takes. I keep telling myself that the longer it takes, the longer I have to re-educate myself for life-long changes.

debs39 · 22/03/2011 22:16

NWNH...5yrs ago, I was a WW leader and all we discussed at mthly meetings was 'sales'............the 'emotional' thinking approach wasn't exactly studied in great... ahem ...any depth... Will I be barred from mumsnet for revealing this????

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/03/2011 22:40

littlefish well done. You are over a 1/3rd of your way :)

wizzler stand proud with me waving hammer

debs doesn't surprise me. As I said I don't go to meetings but leaders don't seem to know what to say to those who eat 49 and don't cheat/forget stuff and don't lose :(

It's all over the ww boards and yes divided people. Those who eat 49 and lose are thrilled

Those who sts or gain get told they are not weighing/counting food etc

OP posts:
debs39 · 22/03/2011 22:59

blondes at the end of the day that is why nutritionists study at degree level and above...all we got was a wkend training course in giving presentations....!!

Often diff people just have diff metabolisms...weightloss not an exact science and WW shldn't pretend it is!!

Have been doing some reading and found out that WW devised points and then propoints cos people like working with small numbers rather than ie 1500/ 1400 cals etc....interesting then that working out points etc requires special calculator, books and buying prepointed foods for convenience...all branded under WW the big company...........they have our best interests at heart of course.....

Blimey...expect to be struck down by lightning v shortly...arghhhhhhhhhhhhh

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/03/2011 23:27

Course ww is a marketing ploy

For years ww were cals and sat fat

Then all change Hmm

Why change/fix what ain't broke?

As I said debs take the calories and divide by 40 and you will get the PP of stuff

Just round to nearest PP

No need for carbs/protein etc

Works every time :)

OP posts:
NoWayNoHow · 23/03/2011 07:34

Wow, that's some interesting, if not entirely surprising stuff, debs. I guess as long as they have any system that works for the majority, then they're onto a winning thing.

littlefish and benbon congrats on your losses, good stuff!

wizzler and blondes pmsl at furious post-apocalyptic banner waving to earn activity PP!

Never thought it possible to feel worse today than I did yesterday, but it seems I've trumped myself! Thank goodness Mum is coming over after lunch as NoWayNoHow (geddit?) I would make it alone with D'S at home today!

hmc · 23/03/2011 09:47

Well done Benbon, abgirl, wizzler and littlefish on your losses Wine.

Wonder if WW knows that the ferment of revolution is growing throughout the land? Grin

Interesting tip from Jillian, she of the famous 30 day Shred fame. She gave a trainer's tip on the Biggest Loser USA last night. Basically she said for best weight loss, "diet strictly for 3 days, more moderately for 2 and 'kick back' a little at the weekends" - she said that this way you will send mixed messages to your body and stop the primitive survival mechanism (in reaction to famine) kicking in....

Sort of makes intuitive sense.

Off into the gym now to undo some more of my excesses over the past few days......

NoWayNoHow · 23/03/2011 09:50

So, hmc for us WW ladies, that would be sticking to our dailies for 3 days, maybe adding a couple of weeklies to our dailies for another two days, and then polishing off the weeklies on the weekend?

I like it! I like it so much, I'm going to try it!

I would like to add that I'm sorry if I'm on here every waking second of the day, but I genuinely have nothing else to do except mope and MN.

You're going to be sick of me by the end of the week... Grin

ClaireDeLoon · 23/03/2011 09:54

Congrats abgirl littlefish and benbon*!

I have lost 2lbs hurrah. Ate all my weeklies but none of my exercise points. Before I get put on the list for slaughter come the revolution I have to say I think for me the exercise I am doing is what is making the difference. I try to walk at least 3 miles a day but often its more like 4 and I have shredded 6 times in last week plus pilates. I certainly feel a lot trimmer especially around the hips/waist. I have another 1lb to go to have lost my first stone.

Willabywallaby · 23/03/2011 09:55

Can I join in and mope for the fact I had a wonderful cleaner and now she has a job in an accountancy firm I can't seem to replace her. Had 2 coming this morning. One phoned me at 7.50am to say her son had been sick all night. The other emailed me at 8.30am to say she thinks it's too far. Sad

NoWayNoHow · 23/03/2011 10:00

claire congrats on loss - I think you're right, the exercise makes a massive difference. When I was doing more, I had my online tracker set to take excess points out of my daily activity PP before it touched my weeklies, which is possibly why I hardly used to eat weeklies. Nice to hear that you're feeling different in your clothes too, after all that's real goal, isn't it?

willaby I will join you in a non-cleaner related mope. I wish I had a cleaner - our house after 3 days of me being to ill to tidy up looks like *blondes"'s post-apocalyptic world.

ClaireDeLoon · 23/03/2011 10:10

willaby :( I would offer to help but I hate cleaning and I too have a job in accountancy firm.

hmc I watched that last night and was struck by just that tip from Jillian. I use my weeklies all in the weekend and pretty much stick to my dailies the rest of the time.

NoWay can't you persuade DS to do some dusting? I'm sure he wouldn't break anything important.....

NoWayNoHow · 23/03/2011 10:39

claire DS is three and LIVES to break important things Grin

mrskbpw · 23/03/2011 11:24

hmc - that tip is really interesting. I know a lot of people live by the 80/20 rule of eating and last year, when I lost 3st with WW I was very strict during the week, then loosened up at weekends. I always noticed when I (shhh) weighed myself during the week that nothing would come off until Saturday when I'd lose lots. Then I'd weigh in on a Monday.

Claire - you're definitely right about exercise. I just can't fit it into my day! I used to go to the gym next door to my office every lunchtime. I LOVED it. I loved the exercise, but also the 'time off' from work and being mummy. But now I have two boys, I have an enormous childcare bill to pay and I can't afford the £70 a month membership (that's with the corporate discount! It's Virgin Active, in Mayfair, so probably about as expensive as it gets). I've never been this unfit before. I literally can't run for my train without wheezing and I've run the marathon before. I can't see any way round it though. When do you all exercise?

Re the money-making aspect of WW. It's never bothered me before as I always felt like I was benefitting too. But now I've got the scales (which were very expensive by the way) and loads of recipe books that are all now out of date and I do feel a bit resentful. I could really do with a calculator as I keep getting caught out by eating something then working out the PPs on the computer, but I don't really want to spend any more money! Feel like a trusted friend has cheated on me. Bah.
