Morning all.

kt that sounds so painful - I really hope that the physio works.

arfur interesting observation. I still think I'm having a few too many mouthfuls. Often I don't feel full until about half an hour after I've eaten. Maybe I need to slow down more. I've been trying to match DH who is Mr Picky Eater unless it's a takeaway or cheese Confused.

Who's been enjoying foods they wouldn't normally have on a diet? I'm turning into queen of the deli foods.... olives (of course), aubergine pate, houmous, parma ham, dressed crab. Usually accompanied by lovely salady things - avocado, tomatoes, crispy red peppers. Went out for tapas with DH the other night as the kids are at my parents - that's normally a minefield as I feel the need to "get my share" of each dish. I actually left some patatas bravas (although scoffed my share of calamares).

I have some gravad lax in the fridge for lunch -yum. And I must buy some nice mozzarella for the weekend - and none of that low fat rubbery muck. I am so happy to be able to eat these things!

i think im getting it, went round the shops this morning and got food i really wanted and really like, as well as stuff for the kids DH etc, got myself cucumber, carrots, pita bread and humous, had myself some carrot and humous pita bread sandwich kinds thing, was delicious, and i felt full pretty much at the end. fell really good after having that, in so many ways, and was really tasty!

solo · 24/02/2011 12:17

I weighed myself yesterday and was really unhappy about the result...
I've been listening to some of the discs and apart from stuffing my food down last night, I'd been really good following the steps...but I hadn't looked at the journal until this morning and I weighed myself...Grin

solo · 24/02/2011 12:18

4 1/2lbs down! but I must resist weighing too often.

solo · 24/02/2011 12:19

KT, humous sounds good :) where were you sitting on Saturday?

whomovedmychocolate · 24/02/2011 15:47

I have just realised there is no point in me weighing myself as I didn't know what I was to start with! Grin

But I do know I was 12st 4lb a year ago.

Anyway, men looked at me in a way they haven't for a while today when I was getting petrol. Grin Was quite chuffed, you tend to feel a bit invisible when you have two small children in tow. But not today!

thanks for the advice.
yes, i do need to eat a good breakfast on the days I ride or I 'bonk' and wind up eating lucozade tablets to resuscitate me.
i think it'll be different this year as I'm interested to see if the hunger thing ALL day really was a problem or whether i was bingeing because i thought i deserved it.
i actually was hungry at about 10.30 this morning, so made a start on my lunch. managed half of my sandwich before feeling full so put it away til lunch and ate the rest then. i also pocketed some fruit from a buffet (on a training course) as i would normally have eaten that too and didn't want to miss out.
actually i haven't felt hungry since so it's still in my bag.
the system is feeling much easier. Day 6 now.

whomovedmychocolate · 24/02/2011 17:58

I need to flick back to the other thread to see how long I've been doing this.....but I think it's a few weeks now (possibly 3) and I can't imagine eating any other way.

kt - That sounds really sore, i'm glad that it is possible for you to overcome it.

bloomingnora - thankyou! Smile

arfur - approve of the clotted cream rice pud, gorgeous Smile It's interesting what you say about the feeling full thing, will have to take more notice.

WMMC - get you getting admiring glances Wink

nevergoogle - thankyou for reminding me we are on day 6, nearly a whole week and still going strong Confused Sounds like you have got the exercise sorted.

JuicyOlive - I am definately noticing my tastes changing and enjoying a more varied diet. The food you've been having sounds gorgeous.

solo - great loss, well done!

Well i'm still doing ok i think. Am going out to zumba shortly and i can't remember the last time i did this much exercise!

It all just feels weird and i'm starting to panic it won't last. I've usually crashed and burned by now on a diet, i know it's not a diet but my inner self sabotaging voice is starting to creep in.

I've not eaten any crisps or desserts since the seminar and only had one kitkat. I'm avoiding it because i wouldn't choose to eat that type of thing for hunger it's always been for pleasure before. I need to get my head around that really.

whomovedmychocolate · 24/02/2011 19:20

Amplebosom - you need to do more of the mirror exercise if you are self-sabotaging, or the tapping. It's normal to feel a bit nervous, if you had a phobia and you lost it totally you would probably get a bit twitchy when you had to face the phobic thing again in case well what if it comes back - you need a while for your mind to grow in confidence.

I have absolutely not doubt that this will work so long as you stick to the four golden rules. In fact it is IMPOSSIBLE for it NOT to work if you ONLY EAT WHEN YOU ARE HUNGRY, EAT WHAT YOU REALLY WANT, EAT CONSCIOUSLY and STOP when you are getting full

And you will get to this realisation in time. Just keep on keeping on, great start but this is a lifelong thing, stop thinking it's just for now, this is for good (in both senses of the word). :)

AmpleBosom · 24/02/2011 19:30

WMMC you're right, i've not done the mirror thing at all. Maybe i'm avoiding it because it felt to emotional at the seminar.

I'll do it.....soon Grin

whomovedmychocolate · 24/02/2011 20:34

Do it today Wink

Just back from run - and felt really good - better than usual so wonder if its PM or because I normally go during the morning - will monitor. Keep thinking of things to ask you all so hope you dont mind - wondered if any of you are still doing the finger to thumb thing? Am using when I have a craving to check if im hungry, and if I still feel I am after conjuring up the barbers floor hair, spitoon contents and off milk I know I definitely am! Sounds like everyones doing well. I find myself struggling a bit to convince myself Im not on a diet because the amount of food Im eating is so small compared to normal so have to keep reminding myself that Im eating what I want etc. Am hoping like wmmc says it will soon become second nature. Keep up the good work everybody xxx

whomovedmychocolate · 24/02/2011 21:19

Good for you arfur - yes I do the finger and thumb thing. I just got the tapping book from Amazon this morning and will be reading it once I've finished the two others I'm already on.

I'm not on a diet. I just don't eat more than I need to.

You will get there. It's mad to think of this as a temporary thing - why would you give up feeling this good? :)

OP posts:
nevergoogle · 24/02/2011 21:38

the will to exercise is not my problem at all.
finding time however...

franch · 24/02/2011 21:47

Hello all, can I join? Book just arrived; have started reading it and have watched the intro DVD. Feeling cautiously optimistic. Am off to listen to the CD now.

When do you all listen to yours?

blinder · 24/02/2011 21:49

Arfur - re. the full signal. I can wait and wait for it and still carry on eating Blush but if I ask myself 'am I still getting the hungry signal?' that really helps.

I can tell when the hungry signal gets switched off IYSWIM. And then I STOP eating (McKenna voice).

Sorry to post and run - I am reading all your posts and doing ok. Mostly folowing the rules but avoiding the mirror exercise Hmm.

Congratulations to all those losing weight Smile. I'm not weighing at all. Terrified to take the first reading!!

blinder · 24/02/2011 21:50

Welcome Franch. I losten at night but find that I seem to get more benefit if i listen during the day when baby sleeps. Not sure why...

whomovedmychocolate · 24/02/2011 21:51

Welcome franch - of course you can join in. It is traditional to start with the end in mind (i.e. figure out what you are trying to achieve), if you haven't done that already. Some of us are sharing our goals here (well on part 1 of this thread). I am aiming to get down to 125 pounds. But I don't know what I weigh now, but I reckon I have about two stone to go.

I listen on my ipod last thing at night. Good luck with your first day tomorrow :)

OP posts:
blinder · 24/02/2011 21:51

listen at night (McKenna hasn't cured my dodgy typing evidently - where is I Can Make You Clever?)

whomovedmychocolate · 24/02/2011 21:57

Why are you all so intimidated by the mirror exercise - you look the same whether or not there is a mirror in front of you. Grin

This is to make you feel better about yourself - so why hold back from that? Confused
