Hi all, I've been following the thread, sounds like you're all doing great. I have a question, does anyone else find that if they are hungry (real hunger that has built up gradually) but don't eat within 20 mins or so,the hunger goes off? This has happened to me a few times when I've had to wait to eat and it's a bit frustrating.

Also does anyone else find that they are burping more? Hopefully it's not just me...

Ohterwise it's going well, Ive lost just over half a stone in three weeks which I'm very pleased with

mummyosaurus · 14/03/2011 21:36

I wish my hunger did Anyfule.

My wind is better though.

Congratulations on the half a stone - way to go!

ppeatfruit · 15/03/2011 09:05

Welcome anyfule I always drink a long glass of water and after about 5 mins i will feel hungry again (if i'm really hungry) with the 'chew 20 times' thing it takes a lot longer to feel hungry which is great!!

ppeatfruit · 15/03/2011 09:07

Anyone know if Deafworm is okay? has she been on this thread?

WillYouDoTheDangFanjo · 15/03/2011 10:03

Everyone is doing really well, I'm picking up some good tips.

I am finally using the app, which has been sitting on my phone unloved for a while. It came in handy on Sunday night; I was drifting around the kitchen finding things for packed lunches at about 10pm, and had the urge to cram a Penguin for no good reason other than it was in my line of vision.

The app has a "panic" button, that gives 3 quick fixes - a 1 minute, 3 minute, or 7 minute option. I plumped for the 3 minute one, which took me through a series of questions about what was really on my mind.

Up popped some anxiety about this surgery I'm recovering from - I was worried that my body was weak, and cramming a quick Penguin was a warped attempt to put some fuel in the tank. With a bit of perspective, I could see that a Penguin at 10pm is not top of the list for good tissue repair. So I had a glass of water. 45 minutes later before bed I was properly hungry, so I had a banana and a herbal tea.

JuicyOlive · 15/03/2011 12:50

I didn't know there was an app. Off to google.

JuicyOlive · 15/03/2011 12:55

OK back from itunes store. App is £5.99 which is quite a lot. Any chance of letting me know what is does....

franch · 15/03/2011 15:06

That's great, AnyFule!

I'd be interested to know more about the app too ...

WillYouDoTheDangFanjo · 15/03/2011 18:56

I have lost track of my original book so the app seemed sensible. Contents:

  • Overview of 4 golden rules
  • Trance audio
  • Couple of inspirational videos & tips from Mr Mc
  • 90 day journal, with a thought or exercise for each day & a tick list of things you did e.g. Listened to trance, ate consciously etc.
  • Panic button to hit when having a wobble with 3 different things you can do

Probably some more as well that I haven't found yet.

Yes it is the most expensive app I've got, but cheaper and more convenient than another copy of the book.

whomovedmychocolate · 15/03/2011 21:31

I like the panic button idea, but I want an app which mutes my children for five minutes so I can eat without having to debate the merits of Iggle Piggle over Upsy Daisy Hmm Grin

AAAAWW sweet WMMC you'll miss em when they've left home believe me!!

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 16/03/2011 09:34

Was ill yesterday :( The kids had kindly sharedtheir D&V bug! Thankfully Im fine now, all of us were better within about 12 hours actually, so a very quick bug. 80 kids at their school had it too - and its a small school!

I was worried that fasting for a day would cause me to binge/overeat today (thats whatusually happens when I feel well again) but Ive been fine. All day yesterday I kept thinking about crisps, so I have bought a bag for when I am hungry later.

Hope everyone has a good day :D Almost time for a newthread! I think the next title shoudl definitely reflect the "no-diet" aspect of Pauling :)

Leverkusen · 16/03/2011 09:52

Why do only join the end of every thread? Anyway, onto day 3, and I'm not sure what I am doing.
I can't tell when I am hungry or not or when I am full, I'm trying to fit myself onto the scale every hour so I can get used to it- does that sound right?

Yesterday I ate half a pear, 6 spoonfuls of vegetable risotto and 3 handfuls of nuts.

That's not enough in one day is it?
Well it must have been because I wasn't hungry.

Today I don't feel hungy but I must be ebcause my hands are shaking. It's terrible I don't even know what hunger feels like!

Leverkusen · 16/03/2011 09:53

Instead of 'does that sound right', I meant to ask 'does it get easier' Grin

BsshBossh · 16/03/2011 10:04

Leverkusen, when my hunger builds my stomach starts grumbling and I start feeling lighter/emptier. Then I know I am hungry.

If your hands are shaking then perhaps it's a sign for you, but having said that - it's day 3 for you and perhaps you're genuinely not feeling hungry because you've overfed your body in the week(s) before you started this new PMK way of eating. Perhaps you need to go with how your body feels - pretty soon it will let you know it's hungry. For now, if you're not feeling hungry then don't eat.

If you are feeling dizzy, light-headed, faint, lacking in energy then do eat even if you are not hungry - but just eat enough to tide you over.

Eventually your body will let you know when it needs fuel.

Leverkusen · 16/03/2011 10:07

Yes I thought that BsshBossh, maybe my body is running just fine on the crap I have been eating before!
I just ate half a banana and some mango quark, 3 spoonfuls and now I feel satisfied so I suppose I just don't need much food at the moment.
It's so strange adjusting to this new way of eating, although it is only day 3 so I hope it gets easier!

BsshBossh · 16/03/2011 10:31

I think it will simply become a normal way of eating for you, Lever. This weekend we had a big family celebration and though I didn't stuff myself and eat beyond fullness, I did eat to fullness each time and didn't always wait until I was truly hungry. However, on Monday and Tuesday, once everyone had left, I simply wasn't as hungry and so I ate less without thinking about it. It all balances out in the end.

In time your body will send you its unique signs to tell you it needs fuel. Until then (and I truly believe it won't be long) just eat when you are genuinely hungry even if it's not a lot.

It's all about listening to your body and not your mind Smile.

Leverkusen · 16/03/2011 11:15

It's good to know it gets easier and more natural Bssh! It's just a bit bizarre at the moment.
Also just did 3rd day of shred, feel like I am dying! Grin

BsshBossh · 16/03/2011 11:22

Is any other PMK'er doing The Shred? I want to start it but am a little hesitant as I want to lose more weight first - I've heard that doing weights-based exercises increase your weight or cause a stall intitially as muscles bulk up and weigh more. I know in the long term muscle burns more calories so you will lose, but for now I need the psychological motivation of seeing the scales move down first.

Leverkusen · 16/03/2011 12:02

I see what you mean, I started it because I read the shredding thread, some of those ladies aren't doing any diet at all (neither are we but you know what I mean) but their weight losses are amazing!
I don't own any scales though so I will never know if I am losing weight or not, but I am looking forward to seeing my body change.

BsshBossh · 16/03/2011 12:07
ppeatfruit · 16/03/2011 12:22

A lot of people actually SHOULDN'T do that shredding it's too much for their metabolism if you don't enjoy it then don't do it, as P.M. says no pain no pain!! be kind to yrself

whomovedmychocolate · 16/03/2011 13:58

I personally like putting my body under a lot of pressure with exercise, but I'm probably in the minority. I wouldn't recommend high energy exercise to anyone who is not used to it - work up to it. Yes you'll lose a lot of weight but probably injure yourself too and sitting around with your feet up does make you fat if you do it in proximity to biscuits. Wink

I have tested myself on one of my "trigger foods" and discovered that I am still not able to have bombay mix in the house.

Chocolate/cake - can take it or leave it, but there is something about bombay mix that does it for me Blush.

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 16/03/2011 16:35

I did day one of Shred a while ago and hated it, just not my thing. So I am staying true to my Pauling and just using walking as my exercise Grin
