Welcome one and all to our 3rd thread Grin

If you're just starting out or you've been following WW for a while and you're looking for support you've come to the right place!

There are lots of regulars who are well on their weigh (get it! Wink) and others who have just joined us - we're a mixed bag, all shapes and sizes and all with different goals to achieve but we're all striving for the same thing. We're all here to will one another on with advice, support and lots of cheering!

Androbbob is our resident stat checker and keeps us motivated by totting up the total weight loss each week. So far this week we have already lost over 37lbs collectively! I believe in total there has been over a 9 stone loss since the thread started!

We're quite fast moving at times so just dive in and make yourself at home Grin

Well done Sweetheart on the 1lb

HHY - I have a theory on that (which is probably a load of bolleaux but here goes)

Before I was on a diet and I didn't feel good about my 'physical' self, if I caught a man looking at me I assumed he was thinking "My God, who let that out without a leash"...whereas now almost 2 stone lighter and growing in confidence I interpreted the looks I received last week on holiday (and I got a few to my suprise)as positive appraisal / appreciation.

However, who is to say whether some of the looks I received pre diet weren't appreciative? My point - very clumsily expressed...is that you tend to more positively interpret someone looking at you when you feel better about your body image as admiration rather than disdain....So it's all about you and your growing self esteem.

Also, perhaps unwittingly, you hold yourself better, appear more confident - all of which are attractive qualities?

HighHeidYin · 09/02/2011 23:02

Grin at the leash comment Grin

That's interesting re how your interpretation might differ depending on how you feel about yourself.

And do you feel more able and more comfortable about receiving positive appraisal now than you did before?

HighHeidYin · 09/02/2011 23:03

to receive, not about receiving Hmm

So badly worded, sorry. On my third vodka and my brain is turning to mush.

hmc · 09/02/2011 23:04

Incidentally - you lots are going to think I am the biggest bullshi**er, having gone on about how I will have gained weight due to Florida...well, tonight at official weigh in I had apparently lost 2lb since my weigh in a fortnight ago Confused Shock Grin

I honestly don't know how! - I drank at least 2 cans of Bud Light every evening, ate lots of fries and whilst I didn't go the sweet tooth route with danish pastries, funnel cakes and ice cream my pp tally must nevertheless have been considerable. Perhaps it was all the walking (apparently many Disney attendees cover 10 miles per day) or maybe the weight gain is delayed and its going to bite my arse at next weeks weigh in...but for now I am shocked and delighted!

hmc · 09/02/2011 23:05

HHY - I can handle appreciative looks okay, but I wouldn't have enjoyed the very overt attention you were getting in ASDA tbh!

HighHeidYin · 09/02/2011 23:06

Grin That's fantastic well done! You should be delighted!

Would do the splits and another backflip in celebration but I'm getting old and don't want to overdo it.

hmc · 09/02/2011 23:07

Thanks HHY Grin - betcha not as old and gnarly as me!

HighHeidYin · 09/02/2011 23:09

Grin Oh I bet I am!

That bloke in Asda obviously should have gone to Specsavers Grin

hmc · 09/02/2011 23:10
Grin
HighHeidYin · 09/02/2011 23:12

I am old, old, old. dd1 has just got home from being out with her bloke (who she is 'getting to know' not 'going out with' Hmm).

Had a big, sheepish grin on her face when she came in, which has resulted from saying goodnight in the car...

I still remember those days...

wizzler · 09/02/2011 23:12

Okie.. here is the recipie, shamelessly cut and paste from the internet!. Dont bother peeling the BNS.. just chop the ends of and deseed!

1 small butternut squash, deseeded and chopped
1 onion chopped
1 vegetable stock cube, dissolved in 600ml(1 pint) hot water
Half a teaspoon ground cumin
Half a tablespoon ground coriander
Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Method

1.Seed the butternut squash and cut into chunks.

  1. Peel and chop onion.
  1. Put the butternut squash and onion into a large saucepan and add the stock and the spices
  1. Bring to the boil, cover, then reduce the heat and simmer for about 20 minutes until the butternut squash is tender.
  1. Transfer the soup to a liquidiser or food processor and blend until smooth.
  1. Return to the saucepan and reheat gently. Season to taste,

Freezing recommended.

hmc · 09/02/2011 23:16

Ah - your lucky dd. Those first few heady days of being in lurve

HighHeidYin · 09/02/2011 23:17

I know. Wasn't it lovely? Like all good things it doesn't last.

hmc · 09/02/2011 23:21

Alas, ain't that the truth [says the seasoned campaigner)

Thanks for the recipe Wizzler - has reminded me I used my last portion of frozen soup today. Must get the blender out again

Willabywallaby · 09/02/2011 23:22

1lb off for me tonight

HighHeidYin · 09/02/2011 23:23

Yaaay willaby!!!!!!

hmc · 09/02/2011 23:25

Very well done willaby...and on that note, good night all until the morrow

LeeWT · 09/02/2011 23:32

Was full of sadness popping in to tell you I put ON a lb!

Fecking raging! I have had the crappest week with ds sick again!! And up all bloody night every night.. I have taken to walking an hour a day and stayed within my points but have put on weight.. I could have cried on the scales..

Anyway I was sad writing that but in the background they showed footage of that granny attacking jewellry robbers with her handbag.. What a legend and little does she know that she brightened my terrible day with her bravery and hilarity!

Well done to the losers this week!

I have reviewed my tracker and decided (again) to spend less points on crap, to portion control better and to make some 0p soup..

Good luck to everyone else for WI!

Lorelai · 10/02/2011 07:20

Hi guys. Sorry I haven't been around for a while but I was doing really badly and didn't feel I could face checking in. In retrospect I should have done, for a kick up the bum, but didn't want one!

Anyway, as it turns out I had a better week than I thought and have lost 3.5lbs.

Disclaimer: such a big loss on the week I have had may mean my thyroid has gone overactive again but I won't find out for sure for a few more weeks, when I am due a blood test. So may not all be down to WW :)

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 10/02/2011 09:51

Morning, have to run off for ultrasound (am not pregnant!) . 35 weeklies eaten and 8 exercise points uneaten gave md 2.5lb loss and my 3 stone award.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 10/02/2011 09:54

I think for me the key factor is sticking to daily only with limited carbs on Mon, Tues and Wednesday, but who knows ?!

sparkle101 · 10/02/2011 10:18

Good morning ladies

Thank you susan for pointing my recipe for me - am going to go and get the stuff so I can have something different to pasta!

abgirl I don't blame you getting M & S dinner, their food is amazing and 2 for £10 is such a good deal.

blondes hope you enjoyed your Indian last night am not Envy at all, honest!

Well done on losses sweetheart hmc (amazing with holiday - well done you, lots of walking perhaps?) willaby lorelai (a loss is a loss!)

wynken bloomin hell well done you - 3 st is amazing. Congratulations. If you don't mind me asking, how long did it take you?

Just to add to the "weeklies or no weeklies" debate, I have eaten all my weeklies every week and lost each week. Can't remember who said it earlier in the thread but their leader said dailies + weeklies = calorie deficiency so sticking to that thought!

leewt give that woman a medal it was so funny, keep on track and it will come off, you're just having a hard time at the moment. I was thinking about the times my DD has been in hospital/ been ill at home and I go straight for the rubbish food (lived on biscuits in hospital) you are so strong and it will go!

wizzler someone on here said malteasers bunny is 4 and pointed what I could (no fibre on pack) and it came out at 4 too.

HHY appreciate the attention, feel good about it you have worked so hard!

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 10/02/2011 12:40

Thank you Blondes, appears I have a fibroid. Wonder how much it weighs?!

Sparkle I joined SW 15th July 2010 and stuck to that before changing to PP at end of November. I think my average works out 1.5lb a week. Still have about 4 stone to go, but will keep plugging away at it.

vnmum · 10/02/2011 12:59

Hi all,

I am now a GOLD MEMBER Woo Hoo GrinGrin
Lost 1.5lb today to get my goal weight. Thats 3st 7lb of fat i'm not going to see again.

I am so pleased. I am meant to be cleaning this afternoon but i just feel like dancing around the room all day. It's such a high.

I had to stand up infront of group and talk about it and i've also got to do a success story to send in to WW with before and after photos. I am going to have to find something nice to wear thats not in a packing box for the after photo.

So girls, It can be done. I have had my share of ups and downs. I joined WW end of july 2009 and lost 1st 7lb then moved house and never went back to meetings. I tried to do it alone but just lost and gained the same 7lbs, even on SW. So i joined back to WW and here I am today a gold member.

It wasn't a quick journey to goal but my tastes and habits have changed along the way which has only got to be a good thing for maintaining this weight.

I will still be on this thread though, you can't get rid of me that easily, lol
