A valentines picnic! What a lovely idea. Where are you going for it? I might have to steal your idea......Grin

knottyhair · 11/02/2011 10:34

Thanks again Smile. Ooh, I agree, a family picnic sounds lovely. DP and I are off for pizza and then to see The Fighter Sat night, but we've only just realised it's Valentines weekend. We're so romantic (not).

thinbridewaitingtogetout · 11/02/2011 10:53

Well shax we are going some where very very exotic, its called "Our Living room" and its very exclusive! LOL

Thought the kids would enjoy it and they can help make the cupcakes, scones and coffe and orange chocolate creams. nom nom cant wait, will have to go into shredding overdrive in order not to be disapointed next week!

dinkystinky · 11/02/2011 10:56

Morning all - gosh you've been chatty this morning.

Well done to the losers (a loss is still a loss!) and the sts-ers (again, better than a gain - keep the faith and you'll have a loss next week). Well done Thinbride and Knotty on your losses over the time you've been focusing too - great stuff. FWIW I find the closer you are to goal (I'm within a gnat's whisker of mine) the harder it is to lose so may be why weight loss is tailing off for some.

I've lost a grand total of 0.5lbs this week Grin - though I have my period and have had lots of PMB (premenstrual biffage) so just pleased its not a gain. Off out for cocktails and dinner tonight and its DS2's birthday party on Sunday so will need to focus and remain in the zone where I can..

knottyhair · 11/02/2011 11:05

Oooh cocktails..... I don't drink much anymore, but I do love a martini when I get the chance. Well done on your loss Dinky, enjoy your evening!

iluvcake · 11/02/2011 12:04

Morning all!

dinky, am the same as you. Have lost 0.5lb but know I could have lost more-down to pmb too!!

Everyone has done really well-no gains-brilliant!

Keep going thinbride-you are doing really well. Have you looked at any more dresses? I totally forgot about Valentines tooBlush.

Dogwalker-am stunned and amazed you have lost all your baby weight already. Impressive!

Guitargirl-sat afternoons (and evenings-in fact all weekend!) are also a problem for me. Perhaps we need to change our mindset. I'm always relieved that the weigh in is done and ease off the "zoning" a bit-not good!

knotty-7lbs in 3 weeks is brilliant!

Shaxx, where are you off to on holiday??

justaminute · 11/02/2011 13:00

Well done everyone.

I?m (sort of) pleased? I?ve lost one measly pound from last week?s biffage gain, clearly it was fat and not water retention! So, iluvcake, the race to lose the ski hol biffage is still on.

I failed to exercise last night ? damn work and housework got in the way. Intending to shred and run tonight.

I?m 3 pound up on my weight at the start of the year ? I?m not exactly an advert for a weight loss thread. I?m doing my best to repair the damage this month. I?m hoping dh?s birthday next week and family celebrations this weekend don?t throw me off course.

dinkystinky · 11/02/2011 13:03

justaminute - a loss is a loss so well done!

thedogwalker · 11/02/2011 13:21

Wow what a great week it has been for all of us. I agree with Dinky, a loss is a loss, no matter how small. Its a long road we are travelling on and so every ounce counts Grin. Plus Knotty you have lost a lot of 3 weeks and I firmly believe the body sometimes sticks abit, needs time to adjust before being able to lose more. Perfectly healthy and nothing to worry about.

Thinbride the picnic sounds lovely and your romantice meal sounds yum too. Just because its red meat doesn't mean it is bad for you. Just make sure it is a lean cut and eat slowly. Red meat fills you up quicker and for longer than any other meat, so you shouldn't want to biff out after.

I had thought I was pretty slow in losing my baby weight but then I was comparing myself to all the celebs off TV, who are slim within 5 days. I have no idea what weight I went up to, but 2 months after having DS I weighed 12 and a half stone, which is when i decided it was time to slim down again.

Hope everyone has a wonderful valentine weekend, take care xx

Oh Justaminute, don't lose the faith Hun, a loss is always something to be celebrated. We're here for you and we all know that you can do it. Stay positive Grin

Shaxx · 11/02/2011 14:50

Well done iluvcake and justaminute!

thinbride Grin excellent venue for a picnic!

I'm off to Tenerife on holiday Grin
Just me amd my sister and our kids. We just booked some cheap flights with Ryanair (fingers crossed that they don't whack us with extra charges for rubbishy things) and some self catering accomodation in North Tenerife (which is meant to be really nice and a bit away from the all-day-breakfast and nightclubby type of place)
I am so looking forward to it!

justaminute · 11/02/2011 16:48

Right, I'm back home now and able to catch up properly with all today's goings on.

Thinbride - really well done - you have nearly lost a stone since Jan 4th. AMAZING!

TDW - double AMAZING. To lose over 2 stone in under 4 months is fantastic - especially with a newborn in tow.

Hearing your tales is like reading the before and after stories in slimming mags - I love those articles.I think you two are my insipiration for this month.

Dinky - enjoy those cocktails - hope it doesn't end up as a messy night out Wink. I can't do blue coloured drinks since my hen do many moons ago.

Off to deal with dcs now. ds has been up since 5am and MIL has worn him out further today by taking him to the park, garden centre, music group and let him scoot to and from school to collect dd. I have one grouchy boy on my hands right now. I'm actually looking forward to getting out for a run once dh is home. He'd just better be in before I have to deal with bedtime too. Such fun!

knottyhair · 12/02/2011 09:57

Morning! Shaxx, your holiday sounds lovely! Justaminute, hope you got to go for your run, and that you didn't have such an early start this morning.

I've just done Davina 30 min Pump. Just fancied a change this morning, will be back shredding tomorrow. Haven't done Davina since I started the Shred, and it's definitely not as intense, but nice to do something different - I do get bored easily and don't want to use it as an excuse to stop. Variety is the spice of life they say! Have a good day everyone x

Shaxx · 12/02/2011 10:58

Morning everyone.
I've done no exercise today. Will have to get to it later.
I know what you mean by mixing it up Knotty. I have Davina and Tae-bo which I like. I may need to dig them both out!

I'm having a strict day today.
Porridge for breakfast
Chicken noodle soup
Chick peas and cous cous
fruit and 1 low fat yoghurt for snacks

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

knottyhair · 12/02/2011 11:21

Just had a quick look at Tae-bo - is it the Billy Blanks one you've got? Is it very very very hard??

Also, does anyone here use a heart rate monitor when exercising? I was just wondering how reliable they are. If anyone does, any recommendations? Thanks!

thinbridewaitingtogetout · 12/02/2011 12:03

Shaxx do you make your own chicken noodle? If so may i pinch a recipe? Sounds delish x

Shaxx · 12/02/2011 12:07

Yes Knotty it is that one. Its a 30min one too with lots of punches and kicks.
Its no way as hard as Shred but its lots of fun. I def recommend it.
No heart moniter here.

Btw chicken noodle soup is really tasty. Have just finished making it and had a bit of a taster.

Shaxx · 12/02/2011 12:08

Lol Thinbride. I read your mind Grin

Shaxx · 12/02/2011 12:11

Oh and I doubled that recipe and added some chilli flakes for me and dh for a bit of a kick.

knottyhair · 12/02/2011 12:23

It is a lovely recipe - I have to add chilli as well!

thedogwalker · 12/02/2011 13:01

Hi all

I have a gramin heart rate monitor, which I use when I go running, but not used when I do dvds. Not thought of using it for that, may give it a go. When out and about I love my Garmin, really reliable.

Chicken noodle soup looks good may have to try that next week.

My DH has come back after beign away for the week and wnted to know what we are doing for valentine Day. I have been prety blase, saying that I didn't book a restaurant for tonight as at first he was going to be away for another 5 weeks, andnow too late to get a babysitter, so suggested just getting a romcom dvd and cuddle up on the sofa.

He has no idea that I have bought him lots of little gifts, nothing too extravagant, well except the good champagne (but that is for both of us Wink), and I have bought a small notepad which has lots of hearts etc on it. When he gets home from work on Monday, he will walk through the door to find the notes posted all over the house, like a treasure hunt, culminating in a fillet steak dinner (his fave), by candlelight and the champers of course.

Just a bugger now having to pretend that I'mnot too fussed, he's defo confused.

Hope everyone has a wonderful valentine weekend. Take care xx

knottyhair · 12/02/2011 13:08

Aaaaah, TDW, that's lovely! You're obviously far more romantic than me. Mind you, I did put a pair of chocolate lips in DP's packed lunch on Friday. I think he liked it, but was a bit embarrassed when his workmate saw it (he's a builder so you can imagine). TBH I only did it because DS has put an "I love you" note in the day before and DP thought it was from me, and was all disappointed when it wasn't! I was mildly insulted that he thought a 6 year old's handwriting was like mine Grin. Thanks for the HRM suggestion, I'll have a look.

dinkystinky · 12/02/2011 13:21

Hi all - I have a Polar heartrate monitor (anniversary present from my lovely DH last year) which I use when working out (cardio and weights) and it is very reliable on the calorie burn. Does keep telling me I'm about to die when my rate goes up v high but I have to sort out my zones (as they're still based on the average heartrate zones rather than tailored to me).

Ahh, so romantic TDW Smile

Exhausted today - got in at 11.30, DS2 was awake from 1.30 until 4.30 (on me!) and has been v high maintenance today so no exercising for me today I think.

knottyhair · 12/02/2011 13:30

Thanks Dinky. You must be knackered, you poor thing. Hope you had a good evening out anyway, and that you get some rest today, or at least an early night!

thinbridewaitingtogetout · 13/02/2011 18:00

TDW that sounds soooo romantic.
Shaxx thanks for the link, will try this soup this week.

Im on here as in the queue waiting for a bath (dp in there now then he will bath the dc leaving me last!) and i feel like a bloated pig after our picnic! And yesterday i had that bloody steak and choc pud and urgh! I feel so sluggish, will need to be uber uber good so i cant at least hope for a STS and not a gain this week!

Also DP got me some roses and chocs for valentines day, when we were not doing gifts! So i had so hastily grab something in morrisons today (so classy).

Hope you all have a lovely valentines tomorrow and enjoy whats left of the weekend.
