Evening all,

Just wanted to pop in to share that I had a homemade prawn chow mein tonight, tasted just as good as a chinese takeaway, had an absolutly mahoosive portion and it only came to a grand total of 8pp
3pp - sharwoods dried medium noodles
4 pp - 150g king prawns
1pp - chow meain sauce

yum scrum!

bandgeek · 14/01/2011 23:15

Sweetheart that sounds really yum, I might try that!

I was going to use my weekly points tomorrow to have a take-away but am so confused by what to have and how to work out the points in them. If I was to have a chicken kebab I would have to work out the chicken, pitta and obviously no points for the veg, but how do I work out the sauce? Confused

Sweetheart and NormasKnockers - I gave in an had a Mars Bars, and my God it was the best Mars Bars I have ever tasted Grin

vnmum · 14/01/2011 23:16

evening all,

Tarty well done on that loss, it is fab.

androbbob I haven't been to happ hippos yet. I normally try and go to these places as they open to avoid the crowds too. The party tomorrow is at Spaceworld and starts at 10 so just after they open. I think there will be at least 25 at the party so DS will be running lots of energy while i chat with the mums over a cup of tea (staying away from lattes as they are too many points)

LeeWT · 14/01/2011 23:54

blondes the essentials pack is eating out guide, shopping guide and a 12 week diary.. I just found the eating out guide kind of lazy.. Not half the things there normally is.. And the shopping guide is halfassed, like they've forgotten to put tescos points in for the bacon section etc.. I'm sure it'll all iron out in the next year & I'll plonk down good money for newer versions!

Well done tarty on 4lbs.. I lost the same this week but seemed too good to be true! I dreamt very vividly last night that I lost 5.5lbs and hit the stone mark (like as if when I'm doing no exercise) and when I woke up I was gutted it hadn't happened!

Our ww is doing a deal that if you pay for ten weeks in advance you get 2 weeks free and the electronic calculator for free. I'm already paid up to end of Jan but thought it would be a good idea to do that as there's no wriggling out of it then!

Re allocating points throughout the day- I'm with Norma I try to have either a low brekkie or lunch each day. I like the maple syrup oatsosimple which if made with water are only 3pp. Another handy thing is to use a ww meal for lunch as they are hot and filling.. But then I get 36pp which leaves me plenty to snack on so maybe not as hard..

Had a glass of wine tonight after taking my baby (3months) and dd and her friend(3years) to an indoor play centre today. Just as the baby filled his nappy with noxious material, both 3 year olds needed the toilet and both did terrible deeds leaving me wiping, redressing, washing hands all with baby on my hip. Then we got stuck in traffic where for TWENTY minutes, the baby cried and the other two argued loudly on who did the best poo. I turned the radio on, tried to ignore all three of them and muttered "I love Ernest and Julio" over and ovEr again!

Sorry slightly random and irrelevant but needed a rant ;-)

LeeWT · 14/01/2011 23:58

Oh and for any other coffee addicts.. Dh bought me a dolce gusto coffee machine for Xmas, it uses pods, it makes lattes and cappuccinos that would rival starbucks and their skinny versions that I use are only 1pp and are absolutely gorgeous! A real treat for when I get ds down for a nap!

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/01/2011 00:45

leewt that's what I ordered and the calculator - didn't relise it had a name Blush

Buy 100% agree - think both books are crap :( and missing tons of basic food Hmm the old ww books were fab and covered many items

The eating out guide has missed many of
My Chinese favs off as well as No kebab :( nor habe they included all of the leggano pizza express

I did have a chicken shish the other day and I PP as 4pp for chicken 3pp for pitta (I did weigh it and was 45g - pittas are 1pp per 15g) so if you did have a big one then be 4pp and then I add lf salad cream for a 1pp so blondes version was 8pp :)

McDreamy · 15/01/2011 09:04

I am thinking of joining my local WW club on Monday. I have 2 stone to use and want to combine it with some fitness. If I set my mind to it I know I can do it! Hoe does the new system differ to the old one - I did the old one a few years ago in between pregnancies and was quite successful.

LuckyLight · 15/01/2011 09:10

LeeWT I bought some adsa equivalent of 'oatsosimple' with golden syrup, so should be the same sort of thing as the maple syrup one you bought, and I worked it out as 7pps per serving Shock Shock Shock plus the milk, which would make it about 10 pps. I used to have them on old WW for 3 pps. I know you said you would have yours with water but I think I need to re-point it cos it's a big difference to what you worked out!

Littlefish Yes, if it is your meniscus it will need keyhole surgery. They sometimes leave it to 'settle' but they don't really repair themsleves so they do more often than not need surgical intervention. However, because it's keyhole, it's a relatively simple procedure that most people recover from fairly quickly. Most people don't even need crutches, and those who do only need them for a few days at the most (generally speaking).

Blondes I couldn't find jellybeans in the book so I used the next best thing which was jelly sweets, which was 4 pps per 50g.

Androbbob my weigh in today was a rather disappointing 0.5lb loss. I know it's still a loss, but I have stuck rigidly to it this week and haven't gone over pps at all, so I am a little disheartened. Next week I will start exercising again, in fact, today I am gonna do a spin in the garage.

Lucky X

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/01/2011 09:22

LUCKY i often have oats so simple and worked it out as 4pp and 1pp for 1/4pint of skim - how did you make 8?

well done on 1/2lb loss, it is still a loss

LuckyLight · 15/01/2011 09:25

Hmmmm, will look at it again. Maybe the Asda one is very high in sugar or something?

LuckyLight · 15/01/2011 09:36

Have just posted a new pic on my profile of me and my arch nemesis last night on our work night out. Bit better than DD1's effort!!

gibbberish · 15/01/2011 09:53

lee the account of your day made me smile. Had forgotten what it was like to juggle three young children!

lucky well done on the loss. Better off than on!

I was naughty and weighed myself this morning. Think have maybe lost a pound. Disappointed it isn't more but have felt all along that I am not 'dieting' iykwim. I think I have buggered up my metabolism after all the years of failed dieting.

Thanks for all the advice re points allocation. Am going to aim for 6 for brekkie, 8 for lunch, 12 for dinner and 3 for treats. Does that sound reasonable?

And am going to tot up points before eating, not after. Feel like an idiot for not doing that before.

Hope everyone has a lovely day today. Off to the office to do my vat return (groan).

DuplicitousBitch · 15/01/2011 09:56

can i parachute in please? just started thurs. 6th. am tracking furiously not using weekly points. stood on the scales this morning and have lost nothing (am ashamed to say i cried!)

ps. lucky light, you look seriously hot in that picture

sparkle101 · 15/01/2011 10:07

Mcdreamy I've only joined last week so still trying to get my head round it and someone else may be able to put it better. Points are now worked out on protein, fibre, carbs and fat (easier than it sounds) you are allocated more points than on the last system (I am on 35 but am quite large) 29 seems to be the average, and then you get another 49 points weekly allowance, up to you whether you want to split that for 7 a day or save them for a treat (takeaway etc). No fruit is pointed anymore.

The paperwork is really good and explains it all, and am hoping I'm following it okay.

Only thing is things that were a certain nuber of points are not the same number of points on this plan so it's kind of back to basics, which isn't necessarily a bad thing!

gibbberish · 15/01/2011 10:13

hello db I just joined on tuesday. This thread is a great help.

mumto2andnomore · 15/01/2011 13:26

Im finding that now Ive been following the plan for a week and a half im not hungry at all which is great ! Think it gets easier as you find out which foods are low pp. Had a WW bagel (4pp) some WW ham (1pp) 2 laughing cow light triangles (1pp) and lots of salad for lunch and it was lovely and filling too.

looking at the tracker I think balsamic vinegar is 0pp if you just have a bit, does anyone know ?

Db give it another week and see, sometimes your body takes time to adjust you might have a big loss next week.

TartyMcFarty · 15/01/2011 13:37

Oh but the pasta potions are stingy. I've just done a ferocious spin session followed by the gym and I need some carbs!!

bigTillyMint · 15/01/2011 13:59

lucky you look great in the picture. He looks like he's got a long way to go to match you Wink

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/01/2011 14:27

welcome DB did i read that you are not eating your daily pp? you must eat the 29+ a day or your body will think its starving and not lose weight

lucky i double checked and yes oss are 4pp each plus whatever for milk, so stay away from asda own make

DuplicitousBitch · 15/01/2011 15:04

hi, no i am eating the daily allowance, just not touching the weekly points

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/01/2011 15:11

seems that if you eat half/all your bonus you lose weight better iyswim

DuplicitousBitch · 15/01/2011 15:16

really? ahhhh! bring back the old system

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/01/2011 16:07

ive been reading the boards on the ww site and many say the weeks they dont eat any, they lose less

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/01/2011 16:10

a few of you were going through old receipes and woking out the new pp on them

i also found this link, if you brought a ww cookery book in 2010,then ww has worked out the points for the receipes in the books

new ww pp for old receipes

they have done it for 7 of their books - hope this helps :)

froot · 15/01/2011 16:46

sweetheart I will try your caulifower - I usually put courgette in food processor to chip it to rice-size bits then blast in microwave for 30 secs so hot but not cooked. It's very rice-like. Sometimes i stir in a tbsp rice if I feel carb-starved. So I will try same trick with cauli.

furball I think Davina said it took 56 mins for the winners to finish the marathon

hmc do you live in Southampton ? I am an Eastleigh girl!

Weigh in Monday for me....I ate out Thurs lunch , last night and tonight will do too....and have been well over my points but have been shredding and treadmilling so am still hoping for 1 lb off. And then i will have to force myself to remember that a measly 1 lb a week will add up to a fantastic 10 lb in ten weeks!!!
