Here is the new thread for us to achieve success in Xmas Smile

Old thread is here

I'll change my name to my "Christmas" one after Saturday: I'm helping to organise the Scottish Mumsnet Christmas meet-up and it might confuse things if I change my name.

smokin very well done, you deserve those choccys!

blondes how is db? Hope he wasn't too hacked off.

My neighbours are huffy about me scraping their wall, my insurance will pay for them to have it rebuilt, dh knocked it about 2 years ago (it's a brick gatepost) now I've scraped it, not much damage done to it but they are worried it may fall on someone as it's been weakened. I can't understand why this is reason enough to stop talking to us, but there you go Hmm

bebe/piste thanks for recipe for celery soup, that will be part of my lunch today.

prettybird · 18/01/2011 11:02

:( about the various car incidents.

Our passenger wing mirror got damaged at Hogmanay: we went to a friend's for the bells and when we went back to the car someone had basically ripped it out of its mount, breaking the plastic ring that holds it in place within the moulding Angry :( At the moment it is held just about in place by duct tape.

I've finally started using FoodFocus again; it's amazing the difference having to log everything you eat does to your willpower Wink

Porage and blueberries with a wee bit of cinnamon this morning and I think a frittata this evening (keeping the protein intake up). May have a cottage cheese, walnut and apple concoction I used to like (an old Scarsdale diet recipe - showing my age Blush) for lunch.

I've also done the Shred this morning, cycled ds to school and am about to do a brisk walk (wearing my MBTs) along to the local shops to get some milk.

Did anyone see that programme on 10 Diet tips that work a week or so ago? I was pleased that I was instinctively doing most of them. One that I didn't know was the dairy products can help you "shed" Wink fat - hence the cottage cheese for lunch Grin

GettinTrimmer · 18/01/2011 13:48

Sorry to hear about your car problem too Pretty Sad what a pain for you.

I did see that programme about 10 diet tips, I saw it some time ago and wrote them down. I found it especially interesting seeing the lady who was filmed then did her food diary, she was underestimating the amount she was eating quite considerably, so easily done!

What part of the Shred are you doing atm?

Today I've eaten:

large boiled egg and slice of toast (5pp)
Bowl of celery soup (2pp)
Egg and pasta salad (6pp)
Slice of bread (2pp)
1/2 pint s/skimmed milk (4pp)

That leaves me 10 left for today and free fruit.

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/01/2011 14:14

well done trimmer, you seem to be in the pp zone :)

pretty - grrrr about your car

RatherBeOnThePiste · 18/01/2011 14:17

Was sooooo hungry just now I broke into the emergency multipack of Haribos and inhaled two Mini bags. Not good but I got to a point where I couldn't carry on.

Having lunch now. BNS soup. Phew!

GettinTrimmer · 18/01/2011 14:29

I just hope to shift some weight this week Blondes.

How many pp are there in an emergency bag of hula hoops? I've not had any, but I've just found an xmas multipack at the back of the cupboard, so far resisted....

Did you have the shakes Piste?

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/01/2011 15:44

Think hula hoops are 5

Best crisps are skips/quaver/French fries at 2pp - Monster munch are 3pp

Db doesn't know about wm yet - mb telling him tonight over wine ......

RatherBeOnThePiste · 18/01/2011 15:47

Yes to the shakes!! I was running on completely empty, like a car on red for a few days. Thought I was going to keel over, which is never a good look Hmm so I shovelled some haribos and felt like I might live again! Now of course, I regret them.

prettybird · 18/01/2011 16:37

I'm on Day 4 of Level 1, 3rd time around. I'd got to about Day 7 of Level 3 (2nd time around) just before Christmas, so thought I'd just start again.

It's much better than when I first started: at least I can now do some of the full press-ups (although I hardly don't bend my arms quite as much as I should towards the end of each circuit Blush) and I have increased the weights and use 2.5kg for everything except the squat and arm raise in Circuit 1 and the side lunges and straight arim rasies in Circuit 3 (can't remeber what they are called), where I use 1.5kg and still struggle but can still polish halo as am also using the 1.5kg wieghts for all the aerobic sections, for added effort :)

Been at work today so not caught up with the thread yet.

Blondes it was advice about my 4 year olds behaviour but im thnking maybe thats not your field Grin

RatherBeOnThePiste · 18/01/2011 20:33

You aren't kidding about the two black eyes Mrs Blondes

Here's a picture of me after my run today

smokinaces · 18/01/2011 21:21

ha ha ha ha Piste Grin Cant do without a sports bra!!

having a hard time of it with the kids at the moment. 2yo DS has developed a stammer from changes at nursery, 4yo DS has developed an attitude and is misbehaving at school due to changes gearing them up from reception towards Yr1. Both playing up big time at home and i am shattered.

But for the first time in my life I am throwing that frustration into exercise instead of food. 30 minutes on stepper plus 2.5 miles on bike tonight, added to 15 minutes on stepper this morning. Watching Biggest Loser is helping!

bebejones · 18/01/2011 21:26

Evening!

Am steaming angry with Bastard British Telecom! They rang our landline (apparently) to tell us they weren't coming. The landline they were coming out to fix because it is fucked (sorry, but I'm cross!) Now they aren't coming until the 26th!!!!!! Angry And then they TEXT ME ON MY MOBILE (thus proving they had another contact number for us) to confirm next weeks appointment! So our landline doesn't work AT ALL, and we have no broadband except the mega expensive dongle thingy! I am LIVID! And DH took a whole afternoon off to wait for them, which is a huge deal, coz he can't do anything from home at the moment. He's self-employed so if he doesn't work he doesn't earn!

Well done to all 'in the zone' I have been a bad bebe! Blush But TBH today has been mega stressful & I don't care! :(

So sorry to hear about everyone's car woes!

Must get off the mobile broadband...I shall be in trouble when the bill comes in! (Although I think we shall be making BT pay!!)

Will really try & be good 2moro! Hmm

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/01/2011 21:41

Laughalot - I deal mainly with nb - 8yrs

What's up with 4yr old? Or so you want to email?

Bebe / how annoying!!!! You deserve a bad eating day and to say fuck :£

Kwym about dh not working when se :(

Db okish about car - new wheel and tyre £480 Shock

He doesn't know about his wingmirror on hus discovery that got hit when mb driving - she is telling him tonight over wine ..........

Eaten lots of chicken today and feel full :)

My quiche yesterday was 11pp

'blondes faints!'

Murtette · 18/01/2011 21:53

Murtette dashes in and races through all of the chat she's missed...

WELL DONE to all of you on your losses. Wht a fantastic start to the year. Blondes - are you going to stick to pp for a bit now? Gettin - well done for getting back in the zone. Smokin - I think you top the losses for this week.

Bebe - has your head recoved from last week's fall? What an amazing cake - again! You are so talented.

Gettin - I saw the King's Speech on Sat and thought it was fab. So funny to see the little girl from Outnumbered looking so pretty and girlie. Good luck with the job hunt, house hunt etc

Blondes - so sorry to hear about your friend. How nice that she feels that she can ask you to support her girls, although I did laugh at your area of specialty! Also sorry about your car.

Piste - how's the running going?

I didn't weigh in yesterday as had to get up at hideous o'clock to go to work. I think work will be good for my diet as there's nothing to pick at BUT I must be organised about dinner and make sure I know what I'm having and that its going to be quick to do. Today, I nibbled at some chocolates and then some raisins whilst cooking. I may weigh in tomorrow but will probably leave it until next Monday due to the fact I spent most of the weekend eating cake as its was my Dad's birthday and I'd made him a cake and my Mum brought one for him to our house too

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/01/2011 22:41

murtette def easier to eat healthier at work if plan ahead

Yes I'm going to try PP for a while - taking me a bit to get my head round it but will carry on - everyone says it is so good!!!

Pmsl@pistes pic

Lol at my friend - is she calling me a sex starved tart? :)

RatherBeOnThePiste · 19/01/2011 07:02

Yes, def. plan ahead or you'll end up eating emergency Haribos like me because you're abut to keel over!

Bloody costly cars Angry and walls Angry and silly neighbours Angry Angry

GettinTrimmer · 19/01/2011 10:25

I've got another silly neighbour across the road who won't park in her drive Hmm she finds her drive too awkward Hmm our roads are narrow, so when she's there parked opposite our drive we are very tight on space for getting up ours, so greater the risk to the cars/ornamental brick gatepost.

Thanks Piste the Angry makes me feel better! I will have to phone up the insurance company to find out what's happening, but last time when dh just pushed the wall out of it's concrete they just pushed it back and wouldn't communicate about it even though we offered to cement it up.

You're just knowledgeable Blondes Grin Hope car problem was sorted.

smokin Sorry to hear your little ones are unsettled, but using exercise as an outlet for the stress is impressive!

My ds found change very difficult, for the transition to year 1 they had extra strategies in place for him, he did more visits, they made a book with him and had reassuring chats with the ELSA. I did notice when helping in reception last year the teacher was a little stricter with tidying up etc after xmas. Hope the school take the time to reassure him.

murtette Grin Cake fuelled weekend!

I agree it's good to get organised I do so much better if I plan what to have rather than making it up as I go along. Sounds like work is going well for you.

prettybird · 19/01/2011 11:53

Just had an attack of the munchies and had Wink to have some almonds (still have "killer almonds" left over from Christmas) and two Jaffa cakes Blush

Am attempting to revert to the straight and narrow by having a cup of rooibos (redbush tea) with no milk.

Will need to be extra good for the rest of the day.

Have done the Shred already today though - so at least I can give myslef a pat on the back for that.

These are Pisty Evils for you to give to any of your neighbours who give you grief!

Angry Angry Angry Angry

My friend has a similar problem to you, if her divvy neighbour over the road parks across her drive, rather than on it, my friend has to park across hers too because she can't get out of her drive in her long estate car otherwise. So down her road, people aren't parking on their drives! Daft really, but a vicious cycle, more Pisty Evils are needed....

Anyone else need Pisty Evils??!!

GettinTrimmer · 19/01/2011 12:55

Grin Grin Piste that is great! Pisty Evils!

There is one way to solve this, and that's to park outside my house and not on my drive so she has to park somewhere else, but that would be silly because my other neighbour will be obstructed and I don't want to add to this daft problem. Some dopey people up the road just moved in won't park in their drive either. It just takes a bit of practice with a reverse hill start and taking care to look up and down the road but that's too much for them. Doughnuts. Idiots. Grin Angry

I normally take absolutely no notice but winds me up occasionally when I slightly misjudge due to lack of maoeuvring space and have an expensive scrape.

Just had lunch, celery soup and bread, then tuna salad. I will have a digestive biscuit in a minute with a coffee as I get the shakes like Piste if not enough food at lunch time, then stuff myself so it's counter productive.

pretty those almonds sound very energy giving, and 2 jaffa cakes are low in calories.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 19/01/2011 12:59

Well done for the Shred Pretty.
Did anyone see The Biggest Loser Uk this week?

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/01/2011 12:59
