(with thanks to Timba for title inspiration!)Grin

All welcome - this is a follow on from the September jeans thread for those who want to lose a little or a lot, but need some support to keep them going.

Am munching a Marmite rice cake as I type, and am about to force myself to go and do a Davina cardio work out, even though I would much much rather lie on my bed with a cup of tea and a book, and watch the rain outside.. Smile

Hello fruity - found it.

Am going to pop back to original thread to leave the title.

Back in a mo...

Shaxx · 01/10/2010 12:37

Lol. Love the thread title!

I'm looking forward to shedding some more lbs this month. My overall loss for Sept was 3 measly lbs! I know it was because of all those birthdays and dinners.

today has been a bit rubbish for food as I need to go shopping.

Really need to kick my arse into gear!

thatsnotmyfruitshoot · 01/10/2010 13:11

Hi shaxx, mine was only 6lbs but I got the tape measure out today and I've lost an inch and a half from my waist and hips so I think all the exercise is converting fat into muscle. Am wearing Gap size 12 jeans and they feel a bit looser so am pleased Smile

I do still have horrid flabby thighs though, despite running and working out every day. I started to wonder if it might be part of getting a bit older (hateful thought) but my skin just isn't as elastic as it used to be.

Birthdays and dinners are tough - you don't want to be a party pooper but it doesn't half scupper your diet to keep eating out. DP wants an Indian takeaway tonight but am going to try and persuade him that I can cook Indian and it will still be nice, just without all the oil and ghee. We'll see Grin

love the title :o

so, I was on the September thread but only for the first couple of weeks Blush - hardly been online! have managed to stick to it, just about. hope you don't mind me barging in, may not post much but thinking about the thread lots!

total loss for sept was 2in off my waist, and 5lb. my belt is now too big! quite pleased, I reckon I'd lost more at first but the last fortnight has been pretty rough, stress-wise, so I probably put some back on.

anyway. last month was about slowly getting into it, but now that I'm used to walking more and eating less I'm knocking it up a notch :o

exam on oct 13th though, must try not to let panic get the better of me, panic makes me hungry Hmm

sorry for such a long post Blush

AlgebraKnocksItUpANotchBAM · 01/10/2010 13:24

changed my name :)

Shaxx · 01/10/2010 13:26

Fruity, you can definitely cook better than a take away!
Proper Indian cooking is low fat and healthy.

have you tried body brushing? thats meant to be very good for smoothing out thighs.

I just need to get back to the gym. I haven't been for 2 weeks now Blush

Shaxx · 01/10/2010 13:29

Hi Algebra! Good luck with the exam. Exam times are tough.
I remember when I was doing mine a few years ago and I suddnely discovered paenut butter and jam sandwiches. Everytime I had a revision break, I made one for myself. That was not good for my waistline (though I was a size 10 in those days anyway. Sigh)

AlgebraKnocksItUpANotchBAM · 01/10/2010 13:32

lol yesterday I finally finished an enormous pot of peanut butter. and have decided not to get another one :(

Shaxx · 01/10/2010 13:35

Probably a very good decision, Algebra....Grin

Timbachick · 01/10/2010 13:37

algie - I have changed your name again so you are not longer 'bra' but 'algie' - welcome back, good to see you here again. Long posts/short posts all welcome.

fruity - *Shaxx is right, you can cook healthier. However, if a takeaway is unavoidable then go for a chicken/lamb shashlik (not sure of spelling) as these are grilled and not smothered in high fat sauces. Some plain rice and you are good to go.

thatsnotmyfruitshoot · 01/10/2010 13:52

Funny you mention the brushing, timba, have just started that. Got a bit over enthusiastic though and have tender thighs now Blush

And yes, I will be cooking. Just looking at Indian takeaway makes me gain weight I'm sure.

Welcome back Algie!!

hesitating to post as not had a very directed day.
Walk
thai lunch out with dh (no deep fried stuff but still)
rather a lot of cinnamon and raisin bread and cups of tea, still not had supper, maybe I can limit it to veggies...

I lost about a Ib this week, hovering around 71 kilos (although my scales still are not right) I feel quite thin really, just know I could be even thinner Hmm

the rain is not very conducive to exercise or diet - I need to up the former.

timba I am still mulling over the ss.s I think Gunnersbury is going to be our first choice as it is so local. And we have EJMS on doorstep.

Timbachick · 01/10/2010 22:19

swany - good luck with making your choices. MY DH an I were discussing it again today...it's all we can talk about and both of us are losing sleep over it Confused.

We are steering towards QEB - although it is not a catholic school we feel that the education, environment, sports, music are second to none. We can deal with the catholic side of things independently if he gets in. It is a calculated risk, we will put catholic schools for all our other choices. We are lucky in that my MIL lives close by so, if the worst happens and we get nothing we can live with we will sell, move in with MIL (God, will she love that...having GS on tap she will likely go insane with the the joy...seriously Confused) and take DS into a private school. It is not the option we want as we would rather continue our independent lives but needs must when the devil decides your arse belongs to him Grin.

Sorry for thread hijack.

I have not weighed today as have had a nightmare of a week with regards to food - can't seem to stop eating, thinking about eating, dreaming about eating (when I manage to sleep) or devising ways to sneak more eating into my day!!!!! Help!!!

swanriver · 02/10/2010 19:44

another good day, avoided all idle snacking Grin but ate two delicious meals, and did a bit of walking

Timba very good to have a backup plan, your MIL sounds lovely too! Now talked to someone who says CVMS is truly lovely and the best school ever for her shy reserved and unmusical son...Confused so I think this one will run and run. [resolves to stop asking people what they think of schools their children are at - the truth is 99% say they are delighted - which is not much help but reassuring all the same]

Shaxx · 03/10/2010 10:12

I'm sure you'll make the best decision Timba and Swan!
Don't undo all your good work Timba. Just make yourself snack on fruit and start afresh.

I am not in a right mind set for dieting at the moment. I don't know how to switch into it. I think I just have to force myself to exercise. I'm pretty sure that for me they go hand in hand! I'm rubbish at doing one without the other.

I'm just going to try to cut back on carbs today and go for a long walk.

swanriver · 03/10/2010 17:49

Another good day, so good that I had a brownie but then it seemed rather disgusting and heavy Shock I must be a reformed character Wink
A bit of walking again, not really serious exercise like you Ladies Grin

what is this shred thing I keep overhearing? is it fashionable?

swanriver · 03/10/2010 17:51

For supper I am having
rice pilaff with kabanos and celery
roast chicken
boiled cabbage
water

Timbachick · 04/10/2010 16:33

Well done swany - you sound like you've got things under great control there.

I am just about to make the dinner - beef stew. I am making it so I can control what goes in to it.

Be back later ... Grin

swanriver · 04/10/2010 22:05

well today has not been so good,
supper - several scones (no butter or jamWinkpm
leftover sweetcorn from a tin
3 spareribs
slice plain brown bread

rice with cabbage and chicken at lunch
two slices plain brown bread breakfast
water
some tinned apricots
several cups of tea/coffee
a bit of dancing, a bit of hoovering

I think I need to go out and buy some more bananas Grin

clearly too many carbs here! more salad and protein required
still resisting cheese and alcohol and choc though

swanriver · 05/10/2010 16:18

today - I scone no topping
2 wholemeal bagels no topping or butter
3 carrots
2 cups of black coffee
I chopped raw fennel

supper - beetroot soup, cheesy potato bake, grilled lamb (if there's any left from dcs supper)

theQuibbler · 06/10/2010 10:18

Hello all,

Just wanted to pop in and say au revoir as you're all so nice on this thread Smile and I didn't want to just disappear.

I'm going to have to bow out now, as I've found out I'm pregnant.

Seem to have developed a distinct craving for Haribo sweeties Hmm - why is it never broccoli?

Anyway, I hope you all you do well and keep it up.

Take care
x

thatsnotmyfruitshoot · 07/10/2010 13:10

congratulations quibbler, lovely news!! Smile

Hi everyone else, sorry I've been a bit quiet, I've been getting on with this exercise business - managed a zumba and pilates class yesterday, and went for a run today. Have now lost 8lbs in total - hooray!!

12 more to go. It's slow but fairly steady progress and my jeans are fitting quite nicely now. Have managed 3 weeks without wheat but the smell of freshly baked bread in M&S today nearly tipped me over to the dark side! Grin

Timbachick · 08/10/2010 19:04

quibbler - fab news ... congratulations. Do pop in and see us now and again and tell us all your news. Smile

Big apologies to everyone else - sorry it's been 5 days since I posted. It is manic at the mo but will settle down in two weeks once the school selections are made.

News from me too ... I have got a place on the 2011 London Marathon!!!!!!! So, defo need to drop the weight and eat healthily.

Chicken and potatoes and veg tonight. What's everyone else eating?

swanriver · 09/10/2010 20:14

sausage rolls Blush

no honestly 'tis very strange, yesterday I was overcome with a desire for forbiddenfoods, salami, cream, whitebread. I think I had supper too late after helping out at an event at school. Big incentive to stuff oneself. I even had chips today out.
But this afternoon felt very tired as a result of those evil chips, so will return to sobriety again...
71 kilos on Friday (daren't see what it is today)

Quibbler that is lovely news
and Timba Marathon wow! Fruit just keep checking in to remind me how slow and steady works..

thatsnotmyfruitshoot · 11/10/2010 11:32

hi everyone,

so tired today, was going for a run in this gorgeous weather but think I might settle for a walk with ds once I've collected him from nursery.

Still wheat free, and feeling much better. Having an Innocent veg pot for dinner, or mushroom risotto. About to put a jacket potato in for lunch.

Have started Zumba classes which I love- lots of dancing makes the time go really quickly.

Hope everyone had a great weekend Smile
