So what am I doing wrong?

In the last 2-3 years I have put on 2-3 stone almost without realising it. I have been exercising on and off for about 4 months and trying to eat better. I haven't lost a thing. My weight is up and down and I am just so fed with it all.

I have 3 stone to lose.

I have had cabbage, peas and sweetcorn.

1/3 of a cup of peas.
1/2 cup of sweetcorn.
1 cup of cabbage.

I feel so tired, can barely keep my eyes open and feel like a snack but trying to ignore that.

Doesn't sound like you are eating enough to me.
It won't be sustainable. You should have enough energy to feel like exercising.

pinkbasket · 19/09/2010 14:33

I am not doing very well, am I?

OP posts:
pinkbasket · 19/09/2010 14:34

I don't feel like exercising at the moment. I feel really cold.

you cant have sweetcorn, you cant have peas.

eat some meat/fish. drink some water - keep hydrated.

also look at lowcarbmegastore.com for treats if you can afford it

pinkthechaffinch · 19/09/2010 14:38

You're being too hard on yourself!

if you're feeling poorly, leave it til you're well. Start by weighing yourself first thing in the morning after going to the loo. then don't weigh yourself again for another week. Stick to 1650 calories for the first week- make sure you get your 5 a day, and lots of fibre and protein to fill you up.

You'll prob find you have enough calories left at the end of the day for a treat in the evening.

I bet if you stick to that all week, without even exercising, you'll have shifted a pound, if not more.

It shouldn't feel like a diet, just taking care of yourself-that's the secret.

I am so rubbish.

Will look at the website, thanks.

I feel if I got the excess weight off I would be able to go back to just eating normally and it not being an issue as my weight has always been level before baby 3.

Can't seem to get into the website, it just brings up other sites.

I've recently shifted a stone over 3 months-still am half a stone over weight but not too bothered about how long that will take to go.

The website is good though-if you write down every thing you are eating every day, it does make it easy to keep track of your eating habits and you may find where you were going wrong.

With me-i realised i was putting on weight slowly by eating loads of toast and biscuits in the morning after returning form the school run and while dd was napping.I felt i deserved all the food after the hectic rush- but my body didn't really need it IYSWIM.

I like meat but I am not sure I can eat it as often as I will need too. I am not hungry at the moment but could so easily comfort eat right now. I won't though.

Am I allowed salad leaves?

OP posts:
encyclogirl · 19/09/2010 20:38

yes you are PB.

I did a low carb plan, and felt rubbish for the first few days. I lost shed loads of weight and kept it off for bout a year, but that Christmas it all went to Hell.

It really works, but you must stick to it.

You might discover low carbing isn't for you, but I guarantee you will lose fast.

Hang in there kiddo. Whichever plan you go with.

pinkbasket · 19/09/2010 20:41

What can I have on the leaves? I normally have a French dressing or some vinegrette.

I don't feel hungry but I do have an awful taste in my mouth and feel like I never want to eat meat again.

encyclogirl · 19/09/2010 20:51

Good news, you can have a lovely olive oil dressing, or a creamy dressing (Caesar salad, minus the croutons is a great low carb option).

Anything you like as long as it doesnt contain flour...

pinkbasket · 19/09/2010 20:53

Thank you.

I have a list of what I can eat and what I can't. The can list is a lot shorter.

OP posts:
encyclogirl · 19/09/2010 21:04

It does seem that way, especially if you've mainly eaten of the can't have list for a long time.

You will get creative tho' I was making a fab cauliflower mash, and using white cabbage as a noodle substitute in stir fries.

You'll find loads of low carb recipes online.

Also Indian food is a great low carb option as long as you don't have the rice.

pinkbasket · 20/09/2010 08:03

Thanks for those ideas, encyclogirl. I thought Caeser salad was high in calories though I have seen a low calorie version.

I weighed myself this morning and it said I had put 3lbs on. I didn't like that so I moved the scales about 6 inches and it said I had lost 2lbs since I last weighed myself. Time for new scales do you think?

OP posts:
encyclogirl · 20/09/2010 11:59

Definitely!

pinkbasket · 20/09/2010 12:24

Can you recommend any? The ones we have are digital but are 11 years old now.

Good luck pinkbasket. I just started Atkins on Wednesday and I am down 3 kg. Granted some of that is water weight (and a result of me overloading on all the 'bad things' in the house on Tuesday !! Grin) but my clothes already feel looser.

I have tried WW, and although I did fairly well for a period of time, I just couldn't sustain it because of my cravings. Being allowed to have a small bit of chocolate cake just made me want more. I found it REALLY hard to stay within my points limits, and I actually dreaded losing weight because my point limit would reduce!!

So far I haven't had physical cravings (and even the emotional ones have only been mild!), apart from day 2 with a headache I feel fine.

pinkbasket · 20/09/2010 13:11

Good luck to you too, SadMarg. I was thinking last night about some lovely brownies I had made the children and then imagined eating them and I just didn't fancy it Shock. Maybe this time I will actually achieve something. I am actually looking forward to having some celery later Shock.
