Am going to stop eating crap and lose 4 stone. Want to help me stay on the straight and narrow?

That's it really. Need to lose 4 stone, have failed at every diet I've tried so am going back to basics - 3 low fat meals, 2 healthy snacks, 2 litres of water, more exercise.

I have to do it - on a serious note, have two gorgeous DCs and I want to be fit for them - this weight is not good for me and I know that I'm putting myself at risk of heart trouble, diabetes etc etc - and what's more, I want to wear a size 12 again - instead of size 20 for fuck's sake.

Have failed on all the summer weight loss threads so am hoping that starting my own will spur me on! So anyone with me? Or just want to come and shout at me when I want a chunky kit kat?

Sparky - Sorry to hear your DD isn't well. Hope she is feeling better today.

I am having a bad weekend foodwise but I am putting it down to experience and starting again tomorrow. I don't think I have lost anything this week although on the plus side I haven't been so bad that I have put anything on either!!

Hope you are all doing better than me!

dotty2 · 26/09/2010 19:33

Not doing great as I have had a horrible cold and have generally been slobbing around feeling sorry for myself. DH took the DDs to church this morning on his own so I could go back to bed but I made lunch then got seized with a baking urge and made sticky toffee pudding for Sunday lunch. But not been snacking so I think like Niecie I won't have lost, but won't have gained. Next week is going to be a good week! I'm determined - back to the exercise and the salad, people!

solo · 26/09/2010 23:30

Gawd! I'm having a bad time...and I'm feeling unwell again too. Bought chocolate today. Haven't bought chocolate in ~ I dunno; 8 months?

SparkyMalarky · 27/09/2010 07:25

Sounds like we all had quite a tough weekend!

Solo - what's happened?and I am seriously impressed at nit buying chocolate for 8 months.

Dotty - I love pudding! And baking! I've got apples to use up so think we'll be having crumble later!

Niecie - I'm putting this weekend down to experience too - I've been needing every gram of sugar I can get as I am so tired from being up with small people!

Hello all , sounds like we all suffer from the same weekend problem . I did think I was going to have to put a stop to seeing anyone on a weekend but .......

I have weighed this morning and I am now 12.10 Grin 4 1/2 pounds off this week , I am really pleased .

So I am feeling all motivated again this morning , good luck everyone x

giraffesCantDanceInBrokenHeels · 27/09/2010 08:04

I had quite a good weekend but then I was working Friday and Sunday all day so not so much like a weekend. (usually off Fri) Sat night I nearly ordered a pizza but had soup and sandwiches instead, and then some choc. (But if I had ordered pizza would have eaten alotmore so choc was pay off for that) Its a holiday Monday here today, supposed to be taking the children swimming - its going to be mega busy isn;t it?!

whats up solo?

sparky hope your dd is better soon

Well done TW!! Thats fab.

solo · 27/09/2010 11:36

It's a bit of the old M.E...maybe I've over done the walking instead of building up gradually. Didn't walk this morning as Dd made us late and I'm not walking in a minute either...will try tomorrow though.

Big Sunday dinner at Mum's, though I've eaten bigger Blush and rice pud for afters too...

Well done TW. :) I think I need to diet properly and soon. I think I'm going to look at the Dukan diet. Anyone heard of it?

solo · 27/09/2010 11:37

Schhol run now and I'm starving. Got chocolate in the cupboard...

Niecie · 27/09/2010 13:22

Well done travelling. Glad somebody had a bad week.

Hope the rest of you feel better soon.

As predicted I neither gained nor lost which is good considering the crap that passed my lips this weekend but bad in that I am a bit demotivated. I am going to have a tough week too what with my course work needing to be in next week. I keep dreaming of all the fun things I will do when I have the time. At the moment, the only other thing I have the time for at the moment is eating!! Blush

On the other hand, if i lock myself in the loft (it is converted - not some sort of weird penance) the kitchen and temptation is 2 flights of stairs away so this will either keep me out of harms way or I will get a fair bit of exercise going to get the object of my desires.

Here's hoping for a good week, whatever we are doing!

Lotkinsgonecurly · 27/09/2010 13:28

I'm starting this morning, another start, another MOnday! One day I will last until the Tuesday.

I'm very heavy, I know that, my helpful mother just came over and said I've bought you a treat for a little 'me' time. Excellent, a magazine titled: Rosemary Connelly Diet and Fitness. Not quite so fantastic Sad. SHe goes on and on and on, how fat am I etc. I really could scream.

ANyway, it has worked in the fact its irritated me so much I've lost my appetite Grin

SparkyMalarky · 27/09/2010 13:31

Travelling, that's fantastic - well done!

Giraffes - you did well too - we did succumb to a chinese takeaway on saturday night!

DH is away for a few days this week with work and i am hoping that I'll use the evenings to catch up on all my jobs and stay away from the biscuit tin - I tend to eat dinner with the kids when he's away, so I eat earlier and less - so as long as I can keep busy in the evenings (sewing etc) then my hands will be occupied and I won't need chocolate.

Solo - I had a look at the dukan diet. It really works for some people, but I just couldn't deal with how restrictive it was - no fruit at all for months! Have you seen the Zoe Harcombe book? It has similar principles to start with (5 days of no carbs) but is much more based on eating healthy food - so you can have carbs again after 5 days - just the right sort. Dukan won't let you have an apple, but you could have a muller fat free yogurt and a diet Coke which has no nutritional value at all! But it does work...so I suppose it's horses for courses:)

SparkyMalarky · 27/09/2010 13:32

Lotkins - could you spend your me time shredding the magazine very slowly? I'm sure ripping it to pieces would burn some calories and make you feel better! How rude!

Niecie · 27/09/2010 13:59

I actually quite like the Rosemary Connelly magazine but I can see it might not be very pleasant to have it foisted on you. My mother occasionally tries to pass on her Weight Watchers ones but she doesn't just dump them on me thankfully. Not like my dad who, every time I see him, asks when I am going to lose some weight.Hmm

My MIL bought DH a book called 'No More Mr Fat Guy' for his birthday once.

She means well, bless her, and she isn't a bad person but she doesn't seem particularly well versed in the art of tact.

DH could benefit from losing a fair bit of his stomach but he didn't need reminding of it on his birthday.

solo · 27/09/2010 22:26

Hello Lotkins! how are you doing? :)

Oh goodness! not sure I could do the no fruit thing...

giraffesCantDanceInBrokenHeels · 28/09/2010 07:01

Oh thats so cheeky buying people diet magaines/books Shock

Its cold now in the mornings brrr. got the tea and toast on. Back to toddler group today, was school holidays here yesterday had busy day - took all 3 swimming and to park. And then went swimming myself too last night - but after found my jaw pain was bad again. Think it is definetly swimming, I must hold my mouth funny Hmm Its been painful constantly for a week, making it hard to eat (good!!) anyway thinking of going to gym too.

I keep worrying about the cost of it, but then at the weekend was going to pay loads for a pizza and the habbit of exercise after work is working well as then I dont eat too much as by time I get home I have dinner, laptop, tv, bed. No time for eating crap.

Have to rant at the bloody scales - they are the same, ok slightly more. I swear I have been good and my tummy feels flatter and my legs less wobbly. Stupid scales. I wouldn't mind if I had been naughty!

Niecie · 28/09/2010 09:17

giraffes - you sound like you are more toned if you have less wobby bits, so obviously you have more muscle which weighs more than fat, hence no weight loss as you replaced lots of fat with a little muscle. Smile

Don't let it put you off. It is working if you feel it is.

Actually that is a thought - has anybody taken measurements rather than relying on the scales? Perhaps we should do that too?

going · 28/09/2010 11:20

giraffes - I wasn't going to weigh myself because the scales don't always reflect the way the body feels. Sounds like you have gained muscle and lost fat - try measuring yourself this week and I bet you'll notice a difference next week.

Going well here, lost 5 lbs this week which makes 8 lbs in total. Notice it in my clothes too.

Lotkinsgonecurly · 28/09/2010 11:58

SOLO - Hey solo how are you? Hope all well.

I've made it to day 2. Got some friends coming round later who are really supportive, not ones I see that often but the only people I seem to be able to talk to weight wise.
Threads like this are often a life line. Am having quite a down day today.

Although have just had lunch as I was hungry, so hopefully that should keep me going most of the afternoon. Had bacon and boiled eggs. Am avoiding doing the ironing too.

Unfortunately my Mum is also coming round later, I really don't think I need the hassle.

giraffesCantDanceInBrokenHeels · 28/09/2010 20:19

niecie You are probably right, I keep meaning to measure myself but forget.

lotkins how did you get on with your mum? I dont speak to mine but am meant to be going to sisters birthday tomorrow and so the witch will be there. Usually that would cause me to emotional eat after. Am in 2 minds about going. But Gran will be there and ont want to let sister down. Sorry am rambling!

going well done on loss :)

Am proud - went to sports centre after work and signed back up for gym - £31 a month. I could do pay as you go, but heres my reaon for not - Its £5 a time to use gym. If I want to pop in after work and only feel like doing 20min then I wont go if I have to pay £5 as feel its not worth it iykwim? But if it already paid then I feel ok about going in for a short time, and usually end up doing longer. So it ecourages me to go to get my moneys worth. £31 is for everything so thats good can use it to take children I look after at work swimming too. So did 15 min treadmill (fast walking up hill), 20min on bike (my favourite!) and then some stretches and exercises. Have a very fast heart rate and this causes very low blood pressure so am prone to fainting, so was advised by GP not to do running. So going to take it slow.

Anyway Im rambling on, how is everyone else/

Preciousdaisybear · 28/09/2010 23:42

Hi there I'm back from a weekend away - great fun but not been good AT ALL!! I have eaten and drunk (he he) to excess the whole time. Was great at time but oh boy do I feel guilty now Hmm Even worse before I went away I bought a pair of jeans in a larger size so I would be comfy Blush

Anyway now things are back to normal and trying to be good. Having caught up with what everyone's been up to. Lotkins: can you find an equally tactful present to give your mum?

Tomorrow's another day and we are all going to do well.

solo · 28/09/2010 23:46

Lotkins! I'm fat fine-ish thanks. Desperately need to lose 3 stones or more, but I'm not feeling great for lots of reasons.

Haven't walked this week yet :( feel as though I have though, which is baaad!
I'm off to a party on Saturday and have just one thing I can get into; not happy. My own fault Angry.

Keep up the good work girlies.

Lotkinsgonecurly · 29/09/2010 13:01

Giraffes and Precious - ended up not seeing Mum in the end. I called and tried to put her off and said no longer needed babysitter, she was quite happy to still come over. But then rang and said did I mind if she cancelled as she had a headache Grin. My mother is a control freak.

Solo - know what you mean about what to wear. I've got only one thing smart that fits and am wearing it to a wedding on Saturday.

Still am on day 3 and have not given in. Think I need some muller lites as have had enough of chicken! Will go and get some after school run.

giraffesCantDanceInBrokenHeels · 29/09/2010 21:58

I am thinking of cancelling tomorrow - cant face seeing the witch, may go for your headache plan!

LOL at needing muller lites instea dof chicken, it reads as if they are similar items, like its chicken flavour yog you have now Grin

Had a shitty day at work today. But ate well and went to gym and did exactly 20min on bike and some stretches and then home again - gym on way home so not a wasted journey. 20min better than nothing.

Had some toast and cuppa now so feel better.

Lotkinsgonecurly · 29/09/2010 22:42

Is it completely normal to feel crap when doing a low carb thing? I've never really stuck to it for this long before ( 3 days!) Blush

Now off to bed. Hope gets sorted with your Mum tomorrow one way or another giraffe! Well done at the gym.
