Am going to stop eating crap and lose 4 stone. Want to help me stay on the straight and narrow?

That's it really. Need to lose 4 stone, have failed at every diet I've tried so am going back to basics - 3 low fat meals, 2 healthy snacks, 2 litres of water, more exercise.

I have to do it - on a serious note, have two gorgeous DCs and I want to be fit for them - this weight is not good for me and I know that I'm putting myself at risk of heart trouble, diabetes etc etc - and what's more, I want to wear a size 12 again - instead of size 20 for fuck's sake.

Have failed on all the summer weight loss threads so am hoping that starting my own will spur me on! So anyone with me? Or just want to come and shout at me when I want a chunky kit kat?

Hello Ladies. I keep shuffing in and out of here so hope I am still welcome.

Hi Cookie. Wedding plans for me too. No date set but couldn't resist purchasing a fab dress in the sale in June. I know that sounds a bit mad... no date .. no venue... but do have groom lined up! Any road, since the dress purchase I have been on hols and generally eaten bodyweight in crap food (all washed down with vino - but only after 6pm obviously!).

Good luck to all today and well done Sparks for being such a great loser. Have managed a ten minute shuffle on the Wii fit this morning and had cereal so a potentially good start.....x

travellingwilbury · 20/09/2010 10:28

I too have messed up over the weekend so I doubt I will have lost anything when I weigh myself tomorrow . My sister is going back tomorrow so will get back on track then .

Someone needs to kick me into action Grin

looneymum · 20/09/2010 10:39

Hiya Trav. Please accept this swift kick up arse. Do we really want to look grim and wobbly in our christmas frocks? Do we want our children pointing at our pale white jiggling tummies and asking if another baby is coming? Nooooooo!!!

I am going to try to be good for one whole day. Ok I may have to go to bed at the same time as the kids but I have to break the cycle of stuffing and guilt.

More arse kicking needed please.

dotty2 · 20/09/2010 11:48

Hey looney mum - re. the motivation. The thing that really kicked me into trying to lose weight and get fit was seeing an old photo of me looking much slimmer and standing on top of a very large and pointy Scottish mountain. I could no more shift my flabby body up there now than I could climb the North face of the Eiger. But I was once that person, and I can be it again. Photos of yourself looking fat and horrible don't help you lose weight because they just depress you. Try to find some positive reason to inspire you.

(I did some baking with the DCs at the weekend from the lovely new Nigella book so have also had a bit of a Falling Off the Wagon but am back on it now and have just had a most delicious plum.)

looneymum · 20/09/2010 12:00

Hi Dot. You are right, we must stay positive. Is it lunchtime yet? Have a good day!

Niecie · 20/09/2010 12:04

Morning!

Had to lol at Looney and childre pointing at the pale white jiggling tummies - DS2 spent a very entertaining 5 minutes (for him Hmm) sitting on the edge bed one morning in the hols, deliberately wobbling my wobbly bits. It was like jelly in an earthquake. I pointed out that I used to have a lovely flat tummy but he (and to a lesser extent DS1) stretched it beyond repair - he found that hugely amusing. He is the only person in the world who would have got away with it and he is on borrowed time now he is 7!!!

dotty2 - I suppose I could go swimming but I really really don't like it. But it would be good for me wouldn't it?......

Why are so many of the good things no fun?!

Did a weigh-in this morning - seem to be 3lbs down which is good. Not doing a whoop though because that just about takes me back to where I was in mid July. Hopefully this week will see real progress although I am not off to a good start because I had a lovely fresh croissant this morning.

Note to self: Do not go to Sainsburys first thing in the morning without having had breakfast.

Those of you who think you had a bad weekend and everybody really, good luck for a brand new week!

Preciousdaisybear · 20/09/2010 14:52

Hi there, was doing well this morning after weekend of eating crap and was kinda pleased with myself. But got too complacent. Opened fridge and saw left over korma from DS1's tea last night. Let's just say that I will need to give him something different tonight...

But I did manage to avoid buying a packet of fudge that was staring me in the face at the post office - does that make me quits?

All I need to do now is think of something really healthy for dinner. Need inspiration.

looneymum · 20/09/2010 17:35

Hiya Precious. Yummm... Korma... ate bucket loads of the stuff when preggers with DD!

Healthy teas.... I've just had salmon on bed of stir fry which was very nice (and very small). Will probs be in bed by 6pm in order to stop eating my own leg.

How about scrambled eggs / beans on toast or soup.... good luck!

looneymum · 20/09/2010 17:36

Niecie - did you manage a few lengths? I have a terrible association with swimming and eating chips...or salt and vinegar crisps - something to do with my childhood!

3lbs down! - don't knock it. Hope it's been a good day.

SparkyMalarky · 20/09/2010 18:23

Aaargh. Had a shocking day after being quite good over the weekend - can't offer any advice on healthy teas as just had a sausage sandwich with the leftover sausages from the weekend, 2 doughnuts (I know..2. And they were chocolate ones).

And I had a pain au chocolate earlier. And a kinder bar. Bugger.

Right - off to read how you're all doing:)

Hi ladies :)

I ate 4, yes 4 mini muffins today Blush

I did go for a swim after work though. Hmm

solo · 20/09/2010 21:38

Thanks for the hand holding giraffes. Did one return journey this morning and it may only be one tomorrow too, but I've still walked just under 6k today. Walking boots much better :)

giraffesCantDanceInBrokenHeels · 21/09/2010 06:47

wekk done. Just having breakfast then need a shower. I am going to resist the toddler group biscuits again today. Am worried - last week I looked after a friends ds and she gave me some choc as a thanks, thi week am doing the same. When I say friend shes more an aquaintance so I cant scream nooooooo get that poison away from me you temptress! Good luck all for today :)

travellingwilbury · 21/09/2010 07:29

Hello all , I am officially rubbish at this dieting malarky Blush

One week in and I have lost a whole pound , I was doing reqlly well until; my sister came to stay (she goes back today) . So actually it is all her fault Grin

Thanks for the kick Looney , I think I may well need a few more this week .

Good luck everyone .

solo · 21/09/2010 12:49

A lb is a lb travelling, a whole 16 oz...16 is a big number, don't knock it; well done!

Didn't walk to school today as I've rubbed a 20p size patch of skin off my foot (knuckle? where you'd have a bunion if you had one) so I put my Birkies on instead. I did wander around with my friend though and walked the equivalent of one return school trip, so all not lost!

Preciousdaisybear · 21/09/2010 14:06

I am so crap at this dieting lark. After eating korma yesterday then had a burger for tea with rosti. Grr (oh and 2 clubs)...(oh and 3 glasses of wine Blush). Whoops!

Right, Scottish Slimmer recipe books out and find something for dinner. Will make some red pepper soup as well even though I hate soup - that's not eating that's drinking! But veg soup counts as being check free on their system so I could eat it (drink it) all day if I want to.

Really need to get moving this weight as planning big trip to show DS3 off to friends and relations in mid-Oct and don't want to still look pg.

giraffesCantDanceInBrokenHeels · 21/09/2010 14:20

Just had a big bowl of veg soup to make me so full that I can't even think about chocolate!

travellingwilbury · 21/09/2010 14:34

Thanks solo Grin

Right I have got a friend coming for dinner tonight and I know I will end up eating and drinking too much but tomorrow I am back on this with a vengeance .

I don't want to be lardy any more !

Niecie · 21/09/2010 14:52

Right then, one last whingy excuse making session from me about why I might not be able to be sensible today and why I will have to eat fat-laden, carb-laden, sugar-laden but so delicious food then I am all clear on the diet front until Christmas - no more excuses!

So here we go - today is DH's birthday and we are going out to dinner. Bang goes the sensible eating.....again.

However, that is it. That is the last time. If you hear another one between now and December, kick me up the bum and tell me to pull myself together and just chose wisely if I am lucky enough to be presented with a menu!

Solo - wincing at your feet. Not nice. Sad

dotty2 · 21/09/2010 15:59

Had to get up at 5.30 today to go to London to deliver a training course where there were delicious free biscuits, and then spend 3 hours supposedly working in cafes (as I am now) waiting for the trains to be cheaper again. Not a very good day, as you can imagine. 3 biscuits, 2 milky coffees, endless tea, loads of mayo in lunchtime sarnie. Tomorrow is anther day, people!

Tippychoocks · 21/09/2010 17:57

I think I'm doing OK but am not much thinner and have no idea of weight. I think I kind of imagined that I'd be 8 stone by now Grin

scrambled eggs for lunch and veggie risotto for supper. White carbs in the evening seems very bad but I have a manic few days coming up and I can use the leftovers cold for lunches. So I justify it Grin

Curse the supermarkets haveing chocolate oranges half price so that I bought 3 for christmas. i realy love chocolate oranges..........

Well done everyone, we're doing fine Smile

SparkyMalarky · 21/09/2010 20:39

I'm having a v bad day. Dh has been away for work and came back with a huge box of chocs. And have done no exercise.

Solo - well done for doing any walking at all - that sounds very ouchy. Travelling, a pound is a pound - and Im definitely going to start thinking in ounces.

Niecie, Dotty, precious - am writing today off as junk day. Back on the wagon tomorrow.

Tippy, giraffe - you both sound like you've done really well today!

OP posts:
Niecie · 21/09/2010 20:57

Tippychock - I had to lose about a stone before I felt any changes in my clothes - you probably need to lose slightly less as you are lighter than me. Even so, I wouldn't have kept going if I couldn't have seen the numbers on the scales going down. You need to hang on in there and you will feel the changes in your clothes but it won't be overnight and one day you will just suddenly notice. You sound like you had a good food day though.Smile

And Sainsbury's have After Eights at half price which makes them as cheap as their own brand bar of mint filled chocolate. Sainsbury's are very very bad people. I haven't even pretended that they are for Christmas. Blush On the plus side the cellophane is still on.

Still plain chocolate has less calories than milk, right? Not so much sugar or milk? And chocolate is good for you.......

Anyway, been out to dinner and had chocolate birthday cake. From now on, rice cakes and cucumber are my favour foods. Yum!

giraffesCantDanceInBrokenHeels · 21/09/2010 21:40

tippy mmm choc oranges are lovely. They make you feel REALLy sick if you eat too much though

niecie Oh no I once ate far too many after eights and it put me off them for life - I can describe how it felt if it would help put you off them?!

Had birthday cake today at toddlers, was one of the Mums birthday, would have been rude to refuse a piece cut for me!

sparky its hard when people give you chocs isn't it. I know people who would put them away in the cupboard and Shock leave them there!!

Just been out for a walk. will be swimming tomorrow with 3yr old - so more splashing and chasing her in water, but will make an effort to be extra active! Then Thur swim alone after work.

Going to bed soon before I eat any more toast and marmalade!!

giraffesCantDanceInBrokenHeels · 21/09/2010 21:43

Oh oh oh and....I made empire biscuits with the kids at work today. well when I say made I really mean assembled as we did the lazy 2 tea biscuits stuck together with jam with iceing and sweet on top. Anyway I didnt have a single biscuit Grin I licked the spoon from icing and ate a left over tea biscuit and that was it
