Does anyone else feel too big at that weight?

You are joking, surely!! Shock

teameric · 17/08/2010 11:08

I wish......and yes are you joking?

amidaiwish · 17/08/2010 11:09

you have got to be kidding
i am 5' 3" and just over 9 stone. i could do with losing 1/2 stone to tone up, but def wouldn't describe myself as big, even at 9st am a size 10.

DuelingFanjo · 17/08/2010 11:11

you have to be kkidding. I am 5 ft 5 and the only time I was under 9 stone was when I was a child and when I split up with my partner of 13 years! Everyone said I looked awful.

Appletrees · 17/08/2010 11:13

I am five one and eight three. Yes I feel too big though it's a Lois bmi, 22 odd. I plan to lose seven pounds when the children are back at school.

AmeliaJaneAgain · 17/08/2010 11:15

I'm 5 foot 4 and 8.5 to 9 stone; I'd like to tone up my post second baby tum, but I know I'm not too big.

Are you worried about your weight?

Gibbon · 17/08/2010 11:16
Hmm

I'm 5'3" and currently losing baby weight (DD2 7 weeks) but I am usually 8.5 - 9 stone and feel fabulous on it.

I used to be 7.5 stone and looked awful.

nikki1978 · 17/08/2010 11:16

No it is not too big, don't be ridiculous. I am 5ft 3 and am happiest at 9 stone. As far as I am aware your BMI would be between 19.8 and 21 at that sort of weight. You must be very slim. Therapy maybe? ;)

NA - am 5'3" and yes i do. i know that it's not too big but it's too big for me.

but then again i have a l o n g history of EDs so i dunno!

zam72 · 17/08/2010 11:25

I'm 5' 4" and was 8st 2lb before the birth of my 2 DC (always consistently). Then 8st 6lb after DC1 and 8st 9lb after DC2. I've just got back to 8st 2lb and feel more like my old self (but cos of new medication not dieting - am one of those horribly annoying people who can eat pretty much anything and weight stays same). I don't look the same as I did pre-children (unsurprisingly) but am happy with my body. I was also OK-ish at 8lb 9lb but did have to choose my clothes a bit more carefully, so I guess I felt it was a bit 'big' for me. But not bothered enough to do anything about it. I've always felt pretty slim at anything under 8st 5lb though.

nappyaddict · 17/08/2010 11:33

herbietea Did you used to be feelingforty? It's just what you said is identical to something she wrote on a similar thread.

I am 5'3 ( I think) and like to be 8 stone. Currently about 8.25 which is not bad as I've just been on holiday! 8.5 stone would be a bit heavy for me, but not a major issue I guess, although I don't like to be much less than 8 stone either. You sound a healthy weight to me. What I would like to be is fitter and more toned!

eStar · 17/08/2010 11:41

I am 5'4", and my usual weight is 8st 11 (currently 9st 5 due to post-baby belly). People are always saying I am very slim. Definately would NOT feel big at 8.5 - I went below that after being preg with twins and I looked awful.

I'm 5ft4 and 8st9. I feel quite slim at this weight but want to lose another couple of pounds. Definitely don't feel big at anything under 9st!

AfternoonsandCoffeespoons · 17/08/2010 11:58

Slightly off-topic but can i ask what size clothes any of you wear? I'm 5ft5 and generally about 10 - 10 1/2 stone. Sometime creeps up to 11. I'm a size 10 mostly, sometimes 12, so definately not fat, but maybe not exactly slim either.

Joby1970 · 17/08/2010 11:59

think everyone has to remember there are lots of different size body frames to consider. I have a friend who is 5foot 3 & weighs 7 stone & yes she is very slim but doesn't look anorexic - but she has a tiny frame. Basically - if friends are telling you you look unwell/ tired etc then you are prob too thin.

nappyaddict · 17/08/2010 12:00

My friend is 5 foot 4 and 8 stone 4. I told her I aspire to be her weight cos I think she looks fabulous and she said she actually feels big at this weight and only looks fabulous cos she has started to wear what she calls fat clothes (ie loose fitting tops and dresses) and not the tight clothes she loves that skim her body.

She says she feels bad for admitting it to most people cos they are often bigger than her and so she keeps quiet. I said I was part of an internet forum with loads of women and that I bet there were other women out there that feel like her too.

afternoon - at 8st9 I am mostly size 8. I reckon anyone at this height at 8 stone would be a size 6 (I was once 8st5 at my lightest and found many size 8's too big)

stressheaderic · 17/08/2010 12:05

This thread's a bit worrying. 8 stone at average height, I would say, is very thin.

I'm 5' 6" and 8 stone 8 lb ish. We don't have scales, never have, so I only get weighed when I go for the pill every 6 months ish.
Put 1 1/2 stone on having DD 6 months ago but it's dropped off as I'm out pram-pushing every afternoon.

pleasechange · 17/08/2010 12:09

I guess it depends what you're used to as well though. I've just lost a load of weight and so feel slim now. But I do have lots of flab still at this weight, so it's all relative!

LIZS · 17/08/2010 12:10

I was about that before having each of dc -size 8-10 - and didn't feel big at all. Now about 2 st heavier Blush and have to say somewhere in between would be better.

Joby1970 · 17/08/2010 12:11

STRESSHEADERIC : as I've just said tho - everyone's frame is different - I'm an inch shorter than you & nearly 3 stone more & I think I look great & can fit into size 12's - but then I do have a large frame.

as long as you don't look ill & are eating properly & getting all the nutrients your body requires what does it matter what size is supposedly "right" for your height.

pushmepullyou · 17/08/2010 12:33

Depends on your build I think. I am 5'4 and fairly slight and my body fat is definitely too high at 8 stone 8 (28%)although my BMI is fine. I have a muffin top and obvius abdominal fat at this weight too.

I look best (and body fat measurement is ok)between 8 stone 2 and 8 stone 4.

I am size 10 at the lower weight and 12 at the higher, so not particularly skinny.
