Does anyone else feel too big at that weight?

I agree. I have flabby hips and stomach, I don't need that to be healthy. I am eating too much, exercising too little. It isn't ridiculous to say i need to lose and to exercise. I am never this weight unless after a period of overheating the wrong stuff combined with being sedentary. So I know it's not healthy. Even though size ten trees are falling down.. it's not healthy.

Appletrees · 17/08/2010 13:37

Lol trees .. trews... same difference.

Pinkflipflop · 17/08/2010 13:44

I am an imposter here - but at 5 ft 6 and 9.5 stone, I must be positively massive Confused Blush

superpenguin · 17/08/2010 13:47

I'm 5 ft 4 and nearly 11 stone, a size 16. I only think I'm slightly overweight.
Personally at this height I would be more than happy at 9.5 to 10 stone.

Do you think your friend might suffer from an eating disorder? Or is she just naturally slim?

beckie90 · 17/08/2010 13:48

i am 5'6 and 8 stone. and i must admit i feel abit podgy, somedays i feel huge

droves · 17/08/2010 13:55

5 foot 1 1/2 . 9 stone .

think im too big at the moment ...have clothees that fit in sizes 6 , 8 , 10 & 12

best weight for me is 8 stone 2 ... the biggest ive been is 12 stone , ( post baby i wobbled)
the lightest 6 (yuck, all ribs and no tits).

FranSanDisco · 17/08/2010 13:55

I'm 5'4" was 8 and a half stone before dcs mainly cos I was a smoker then. A colleague asked if I was anorexic Blush. I'm just under 10 stone now and a size 12 - would prefer to be 9 and a half but the I'd be a pancake chest. Your friend is a little worrying tbh.

pointydog · 17/08/2010 14:06

(gibbon, you've just had a baby! Congrats!)

MrsDanversBites · 17/08/2010 14:09

I think everyone is aware of or has in mind a happy weight, which suits them and their bodyshape. Although on MN there tends to be uproar if you mention you are below 9 stone. If you have a very small build though, you can still be very curvy at that weight...and I mean curvy in the original sense (boobs/hips)

am 5ft 6" and happiest between 8 and a half and nine stone which keeps me a size 8-10, below 8.5 and my d-cups shrink to b's and lose bummage so don't like it. However, over 9 I shoot up to a 12 but look much bigger as small framed.

I think frames are key.

Pinkflipflop · 17/08/2010 14:12

Beckie, 5ft 6 and 8 stone? Shock

You might FEEL a bit podgy, but you'll defo not LOOK it - you are really skinny TBH!!

booyhoo · 17/08/2010 14:16

i am 5'3" and weigh 9.7 stone and whilst i don't think i am overweight i feel like i could tone up a bit.

beckie90 · 17/08/2010 14:29

i have alwats been a small girl, but just dont feel that small, your shape kinda changes after having a baby. wont be 8 stone for long though im having my 2nd baby, so will be pretty huge soon

Egg · 17/08/2010 14:57

I am 5ft 3 and currently weigh about 8st 4 or 5lbs. I have been closer to 8st for the last two or three years and feel big at the moment. Jeans feel tight and have an overhang and my tummy sticks out noticeably.

To be honest I am more out of shape than overweight, I was so stressed for first two years of twins life that I think the weight stayed off, and has now been creeping back on. Hoping once we have moved house and DS1 starts school to get in shape.

I definitely don't feel confident with the way I look at the mo. A year ago I was 7st 10 and definitely felt underweight then though, so don't want to go too low, just need to lose the wobbly bits! Doesn't help that breasts have shrunk but rest is getting bigger Sad.

Valpollicella · 17/08/2010 15:01

I'm 5 2 and 8 stone and don't feel big really. I could do with toning some bits up tbh but otherwise I kinda feel ok about my shape.

twolittlemonkeys · 17/08/2010 16:36

I'm almost 8 stone at 4'11". I'd like to lose a bit of weight, but would rather have an extra 5 inches but be the same weight. I reckon I'd look fabulous Wink

ValiumSingleton · 17/08/2010 16:37

I'd LOVE to be that slim!

HumphreyCobbler · 17/08/2010 16:42

I wish I weighed eight stone 5.

I weight nine stone 5 and am 5 foot 2.

All this is the counsel of perfection though - I don't overeat at all and I still wish I weighed a stone less, THEN I would look like models in magazines.

I think I would be more attractive if I was a bit more confident and stressed about my weight a lot less tbh.

Joby1970 · 17/08/2010 16:45

hey guys lots of you are talking about toning up - as previously mentioned on here try Jillian Micheals 30 DAY SHRED DVD - takes 20 mins - & tones you up like mad. Come over to our thread

beckie90 · 17/08/2010 16:55

i was gonna buy that but now im pregnant so i wont be able to do it will i? im trying to find a suitable dvd to do in pregnancy

ValiumSingleton · 17/08/2010 18:12

HumphreyCobbler, you have the same measurements as me. Except when I weighed myself on monday I was 9.6lbs!

I have resisted pressure to be 'thin' for years too, gave myself a pat on the back for being so healthy and robust. Got a shock the other dayy when I measured my waist. 33"

ValiumSingleton · 17/08/2010 18:12

I mean height, not measurements.

Themasterandmargaritas · 17/08/2010 18:59

Interesting thread, seeing everyone's comments. For me at 5ft 4 and 56kgs I feel slightly lardy at the moment but it's more about eating healthily than losing weight. If I am eating too much crap then I don't feel so good even if my weight hasn't changed.

Also it seems that everyone has their one particular problem area. I can't seem to shift some excess bottom and thigh weight no matter how much I run....

SagacityNell · 17/08/2010 21:23

I am v small framed.

nappyaddict · 17/08/2010 23:32

beckie90 At 8 stone your BMI is 18.08. If you were 7 stone 13 then your BMI would be 17.9 Anything under 18 is underweight. Do you honestly think you look big at 8 stone?

OP posts:
ValiumSingleton · 18/08/2010 09:30

That is underweight. Your bone density will be at risk if you lose weight.

With a prolonged BMI of under 20 I would say, don't worry about your weight, take up running and take some calcium tablets. make sure you have yoghurt a couple of times a week, cheese slice sandwiches etc...

look what happened to gwyneth.
