WooHoo Dandy! That was a fab pep talk, i feel renewed energies not to biff.

I will be a thin stylish person and not the unfit unstylish fat biffer i am.

Ilovecake, the words loaded with fruit marzipan and icing made me feel a little sick as i have just eaten lunch, so thank you it goes to show i can resist (evenif it was only a description of a cake i will never see or eat!).

BudaisintheZONE · 29/11/2010 13:11

Hello! I am still here. Or rather I am here again. Have been SO SO bad.

Could not get into right frame of mind all week so ate crap. Then it was DH's 50th on Thursday so had lots of things I shouldn't and then went out for dinner on Friday. Ate badly all weekend. Lots of biscuits. Lots. In fact lots on Saturday afternoon while watching The Biggest Loser!

But am zoning today. I weighed myself and I have gained 5lbs in the last 6 weeks. Aiming to lose that by Xmas.

Hello to new faces. Hi DandyLioness!

Pep talks are good. I need a pep talker on my shoulder permanently though!

Loving the pep talk Dandy - and welcome back Buda.

Slobbadan - bodycombat is basically aerobics mixed up with noncontact martial arts. Nothing to be that afraid of. Glad to say my back held up fine for it though.

Great pep talk Dandy, I'll have to remember that on Friay at my next coffee morning Grin

I love this maternity leave malarky, not back at work until May, but that means lots of Friday coffee mornings and lots of homemade goodies I have to say NO to, but I can do it especially if I print that pep talk from Dandy and stick it in my purse.

Hope everyone is having a good day, ta ta for now x

iluvcake · 29/11/2010 20:43

Hi Buda!! Glad to see you back. Lol at eating biscuits whilst watching the Biggest LoserGrin. I have done that too!

Have just shredded and having light dinner of Butternut Squash and Red Pepper soup.

Thanks Dandy!

Shaxx · 29/11/2010 20:48

Brilliant talk Dandy!

But....

Bloody freezing weather and darned tube strikes are not a good combo for dieters! By the time Igot back from work, picked up kids (late), rushed them home, gave them food, bundled them back in the car, picked up dh as no tubes, got back and got them to bed, I was too tired and fed up to cook so had 4 slices of toast and a couple of biscuits.
And I'd been good all day too! Sad

encyclogirl · 29/11/2010 21:55

Wow this thread is now hopping!

Need to be more present. Time was I could check in twice a week and be all caught up.

Not anymore...how fabby!

Can't remember who asked me about my daily intake, but anyway here goes:

Br: Always porridge. Oldie but a goodie
Snack: apple or pear or small banana
Lunch: Usually make this my main meal, Salmon or smoked fish, salad, scoop of cottage cheese, 3 ryvita. I sometimes vary this with roasted veggies instead of salad, chicken, turkey or lean ham instead of fish, baked potato instead of ryvita...you get the picture
Dinner: Soup and salad. We keep hens so sometimes chop up a hardboiled egg in my salad.

I have one cappaccino, some more fruit and loads of Pu-erh tea.

At weekends I have the full roast on Sunday but skip and evening meal and have some fruit instead.

On Saturday I sometimes miss a meal and have a more calorific snack instead. Rye bread with Paté something like that.

I also practise yoga every night for an hour.

That's it really. I try to keep my portions down, and, lucky for me, I don't have much of a sweet tooth. However I would kill my own granny (if she was still living) for a bag of doritos.

Undertone · 30/11/2010 10:44

...must... resist... biffing... due to snow...

dinkystinky · 30/11/2010 11:23

If you must eat little and often due to cold and snow, make healthy choices - fruit and herbal/green tea are all good choices; cake and chocolates are not great choices but ok in moderation (.i.e. tiny sliver and no more).

BudaisintheZONE · 30/11/2010 11:45

Hi all.

Thread is getting nice and busy again!

Well day two of zoning and am doing ok.

Yesterday was good except for one slice of banana cake.

Breakfast was porridge with blueberries and flaked almonds. Snack was 2 cold sausages. Forgot lunch. Then had the banana cake and 2 oatcakes with peanut butter. Dinner was lemon spiced chicken with chickpeas.

Today have had slice of rye bread with peanut butter and a banana for breakfast. Snack was 2 spelt crackers with hummus and a green tea. Dinner will be salmon, roast veg and sweet potato mash.

Walked dog for half an hour.

Am about to make some soup for lunch.

Keep it up everyone! Am feeling much more motivated than I have been.

Slobbadan · 30/11/2010 15:32

Hi all, still ding good but i did have a big treat at lunch and it came in the form of a Chicken bake!! But i had 2 slices of whole meal toast and low cal jam (had a blood sugar dip as up at 4.30am) then at work in the morning i had 2 satsumas and an apple.
Dinner tonight will be spag bol without the spag! in a roasted red pepper and salad, also going to shred before dinner.

i also walked through snow to work and back yesterday and today (15mins power walking each way).

Have re-discovered Otions hot choc sachets in all the lovely flavours as a choc treat for when i feel im going to reach for a biscuit.

encyclogirl · 30/11/2010 15:53

Soup! Have soup or make a casserole. Both really healthy options, plus extremely satisfiy and filling.

I made Leek and Potato soup for lunch. One bowl of it filled me up for hours, still not hungry now.

I used homemade turkey stock, leeks from the garden, a few little potatoes and onions. Really delish. My son licked the bowl!

Oooh forgot all about Options Slobbadan, nice one!

BudaisintheZONE · 30/11/2010 16:25

Be careful about those Options. Fake sugars can make cravings worse.

OP posts:
justaminute · 30/11/2010 16:39

Crap, crap, crap, crap, CRAP!

I've just blown 2 days of zoning by raiding the biscuit tin, one led to another and so on. Interestingly I had an Options drink at 2pm, also feeling tired and premenstrual. Ultimately though, I'm the one lacking in sodding will powerSad.

Having wallowed and felt sorry for myself I've come on here to rezone. My plan of attack for the rest of the day...
Make dcs tea
Do Shred whilst they eat
Bath & bed for dcs
Shred again (missed it yesterday feeling guilty, although did play netball)
Cook dinner for me & dh - Chicken & veg
Ironing & other such exciting chores
Bed

Stay in the zone folks a biscuit binge just ain't worth it I'm feeling very miserable.

dinkystinky · 30/11/2010 20:12

Justaminute - draw a line under the biscuit tin episode and carry on with your day as planned and hide the biscuit tin. I take my hat at your dedication to 2 lots of shredding. Remember ladies - mindful eating is the name of the game. Enjoy what you put in your mouth - but remember, things in moderation is the sustainable way forward...

BudaisintheZONE · 01/12/2010 08:57

Morning all on this snowy Wednesdsay, 1st of December and first day of Advent. Well first day of Advent Calendars!

Had a sneaky weigh this morning and looking good. Will maybe make up for the poor sad look on DH's face last night when he discovered it was salmon and roasted veg for dinner!

Justaminute - it could well be the Options that tipped you over the edge. If you want to cut out the sweet crap you need to cut it out totally. It generally takes 3 days for the craving to stop. I have been craving something sweet in the afternoons last couple of days but am resolutely NOT giving in. I know if I do it will all last longer. If I crave something sweet I eat something but but something allowed - fruit and a natural yoghurt or oatcakes with something and maybe a green tea.

Remember thread mantras everyone:

NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS SLIM FEELS. That means that cakes and biscuits are yucky!

WILL IT MAKE ME HAPPY? Or will I feel sick when i have eaten it? Sick from eating to much and sick with regret that I gave in.

WILL IT STILL BE THERE WHEN I AM SLIM? Obv not that particular biscuit or cake but most of it will still be around when you are a slim, trim size 10.

OP posts:
dinkystinky · 01/12/2010 09:19

Good pep talk Buda. Will join in - if you're plateauing try shaking things up abit

  • maybe try eating like a king, lunching like a prince and dining like a pauper to see if that has a positive effect on the scales (that's what I'm trying this week)
  • if you're bored of the same old thing, have a look online for healthy low fat meals or adjust your cooking of standard family meals
  • try out something new - be it a new meal, new exercise class or new outfit. If every day seems the same and v dull and boring, you will lapse and biff: keep mixing it up and you're more likely to stay in the zone
  • if you're treating yourself, go for a sensible option and savour and enjoy it e.g.Small glass of wine or gin/vodka and slimline tonic plus glass of water. Small chocolate bar (so temptation to biff more is averted) instead of piece of huge block of chocolate. Pick an open mini mince pie (the Tesco ones are from 70 cals a piece, the M&S ones from 90 cals apiece) instead of a normal mince pie (which is from a whopping 230 cals a piece).
justaminute · 01/12/2010 10:02

Thanks Dinky & Buda. I needed reminding of what it is I want to achieve. I'm feeling more positive today.

After biscuitgate I did 2 rounds of shredding - good. Had boiled egg & soldiers for dinner - good. Had 10 chips - bad.

Dh was very late home, he got stuck on a train due to the snow so the chicken & veg didn't get cooked, hence my boiled egg and his trip to the chippy.

I'm stuck at home today due to the snow, I think I might print out the mantras and put them on the biscuit tin.

dinkystinky · 01/12/2010 10:06

Justaminute -hide that biscuit tin. Whenever the urge to open it hits, do something else - paint your nails, messy play with kids, have a hot drink, anything that stops you hitting the biccies. And 10 chips is fine - we have to get out of having a love/hate relationship with food. All food is fine - just in moderation. 10 chips as opposed to a bag of chips is nothing in the grand scale of things and if combined with an overall healthy diet and lifestyle will not get in the way of you being the slim healthy person you want to be.

Shaxx · 01/12/2010 10:07

Love all the tips and pep talk here!

I am ill :(
I have a v. bad cold. Unfortunately I never lose my appetite when I'm ill but I will definitely be eating healthy. I've no excuse really as I stopped off at m&s on my way home from work yesterday and bought some of their low fat/low cal food.

I also second that options advice - stay away from fake sugars. It can not only make you crave sugar but a build up of it has other effects too. Its better to have a small proper treat (under 100cals).

Shaxx · 01/12/2010 10:09

When that biscuit craving hits - go drink a big glass of water and have a piece of fruit. That craving will then be banished.

justaminute · 01/12/2010 10:19

Opening the biscuit tin is habit too. I seem to do it without thinking. I have moved it to the back of the cupboard so I have to move a ton of stuff before I can get to it. I can't get rid of it completely, skinny dh would go nuts! Part of my journey is learning how to have naughty things in the house for treats without binge eating them.

Slobbadan · 01/12/2010 10:39

Loving all the pep talks girls, keep em coming (im sure i will think of somthing motivational eventually).

Shaxx make a big pot of healthy veg soup so fill you up and keep you warm while you have a cold. I think i will do that this week.

Justaminute i have a DP that would not be happy if i got shot of the biscuit tin, but i find that the more i have in the less i want to eat it, like we have choc fingers, pringles, walkers crisps, shortbread mince pies and a tin full of biccys but i dont want them. But if we had nothing in the house my cravings would be through the roof and i would be hot footing it to the shop for junk food!

I have been shredding for the last five days and just came off the phone to my sister and she was saying how when she next see's me i will be wasting away as im actually sticking to a diet /exercise for more than 2 days and its motivated me to prove her right.

So i shall repeat

NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS BEING SLIM FEELS

and

I WILL BE THIN I WILL BE THIN I WILL BE THIN I WILL BE THIN

Shaxx · 01/12/2010 11:34

Good idea about soup.
I need to go shopping as I've hardly anything in. Wednesdays are my usual shopping day and I feel a bit rubbish plus we've got quite a bit of snow too.

I really fancy a lamb stew type of thing for dinner with loads of root veg.

I think I'll have to pop out.

I've got tonnes of biscuits at home. I bought a big box from Costco and the best thing is that they're in packs of 2 so none are open. I only seem to want to eat packets of opened biscuits. I never actually want to open them myself Hmm

So far today I've had a bowl of porridge with a tsp of manuka honey.

iluvcake · 01/12/2010 13:42

Aw Shaxx, sorry to hear you're not well. Speedy recovery!

I am also at home but with a poorly DS. There are 15 children off in his class! Feeling very cheesed off and bored with being stuck in.

Did have a quick whizz round the supermarket yesterday afternoon to pick up some basic supplies. Unfortunately, two rogue chocolate bars somehow found their way into my trolley, along with a packet of choc chip cake bars. Had the two choc bars last night and a cake. Also had half a bag of walkers sensations and didn't shred either as out last night.

I realised my main food triggers are:- Rewarding myself (for being at home with poorly DS) and feeling low (ditto).

When I'm busy it's easier not to think too much about food. I've generally been good with my meals this week, it's all the littleHmm extras.

On the positive side, all the pep talks on here really help. I'm going to keep re-reading them. I am also finding it easier if I DON'T have any biffing foods in the house. Whereas before, I would have felt panicky, now it makes me feel better and I just don't have the option of biffing.

Well done on the shredding everyone- justaminute, twice in one day-respect!
