Oooooh those of you using ww have you seen the new ProPoints system? It looks much more sophisticated, might even start tracking again soon...!!!

I lost 2.5 lbs this week so that is now exactly a stone since august 22nd - averaging 1.3 lbs a week so I am very happy with that. With just over 6 weeks to go to christmas I'm setting myself a little goal of another half a stone...

Hope you are all doing well!

aristocat · 11/11/2010 13:48

Hercule wow another 2.5lb - well done you!

i am currently 12st 3.5lb now and have lost 3st 4lb altogether ..... hoping to buy some new clothes again soon Smile

hope everyones ok?

HerculesPoirot · 11/11/2010 20:38

Thanks aristo! Dh away this week and I have been most disorganised so eaten absolute rubbish. I am not trying to claw it back for the next 3 days so that I might not put on too much...

I just put in what I have eaten today in the new ProPoints tracker on and have eaten waaaaaaay over my allowance and all my treat points in one day. Right. Must Try Harder.

How is everyone else getting on?

Aristo - wow on your total weight loss that is just brilliant btw!

aristocat · 15/11/2010 14:42

just wanted to say hello to everyone and hope you are all well Smile

and my size 16 jeans are now loose - hurrah!!!
sadly, not too big that i need a 14 yet, but one day .......

HerculesPoirot · 15/11/2010 19:20

Hurrah Aristocat that's brilliant! Loose means half way there to a 14 I reckon so not too long now...

I lost another 1.5 lbs this week - sometimes I have no idea how this is working, but it seems to be working 3 more lbs and I'm at my 10% goal. Then just another 5 stone to go!!!!!

MrsKitty · 15/11/2010 21:45

Fab news, Aristo. Won't be long now, I'm sure Smile.

Glad to hear things still going well for you too, Hercules.

I'm just starting to get my head around this 'pro-points' thing at WW. Have decided I will trial it for 6 weeks and see what happens. Bit reluctant to switch as the old plan was working perfectly well for me (even when I wasn't really tryingWink), but I feel like the meetings benefit me, and I want to still feel a part of them, so I'm open to trying the pro-points diet. Bit disappointed that there is so much emphasis placed on protein, as I'm more of a carbs fan generally, but then maybe that's why I'm such a bloater? Grin. We shall see how it goes...

Started back at work last week after 14 months on maternity leave. It's been tough, I'm shattered, and I haven't really done anything yet! My first real shift is on Thursday (6am start, oh joy!).

Saracen · 21/11/2010 02:57

Hi everybody! I've been on Atkins for three months and it's going really well; I've lost 7kg.

Does anyone have any ideas for measuring success? I want to see how well I am doing so as to keep my motivation up and feel good about myself. Reading the scales doesn't really do it for me because I don't like to think about how much I actually weigh and how far I still have to go!

It's a shame I don't have any tight-fitting clothes so I'd notice them getting looser - all my waistbands are elasticated. I haven't got any slightly-skinnier favourite clothes to try to fit into. It's been a long time since I had a good proper look in the full-length mirror so I'm not likely to see any difference there either.

Nobody has commented on any change in my appearance, except for dh and a couple of friends who know I am on a diet, so of course I think they are just saying I look slimmer in order to cheer me up and not because it's true.

I have made a graph which cheers me up a bit, especially because I fiddled it by making the dates across the bottom really close together and making the kgs up the side quite far apart so the downward slope looks steep! I knew that being good at maths would come in useful one day. Grin I should be in public relations.

HerculesPoirot · 21/11/2010 15:49

Hi Saracen - I would say measure yourself (waist, hips, arms, thighs) that's always nice, sometimes even when you don't lose any lbs you've lost inches! I am also a maths geek and used to have a lovely spreadsheet which drew graphs of weight, waist, hips etc... and had lots of lines going downwards. Now I'm doing ww online it does all that for you so that's good!

Well done on the 7kg btw that's fab. I definitely won't have lost this week - too much rubbish food, wrong time of month, so many rubbish excuses!

Saracen · 22/11/2010 00:59

Thanks for the tip, Poirot! That's a good idea.

I found the graph useful for another reason just now. A week ago I weighed myself at Boots like I always do and the scale there claimed I'd lost 3.5 kg in one week!!! Which I didn't believe, though I did hold onto a tiny hope it might be true. And just now I weighed in at 2kg more than last week, which is equally unbelievable because I haven't eaten anything silly and I don't feel bloated.

So I've decided last week's result was just rubbish, threw it out, and connected up the dot from 2 weeks ago to the one from now. That makes a loss of 1.5kg in 2 weeks, which is quite respectable. The downward slope is a perfect match for the rate at which I've been losing lately. Saved by the graph.

...if you're still awake after reading that then you ARE a maths geek, LOL!

HerculesPoirot · 22/11/2010 23:10

Still awake and understood it perfectly!

Anyway, I wouldn't listen to my advice, I put on half a lb this week. Am making a real effort though this week to lost that and a little bit more this week instead...

silver28 · 25/11/2010 22:01

Hi everyone. I was on this thread a while back (13th sep to be exact!) and then disappeared as I stopped going to ww, troughed my way through a mountain of chocolate and cake, and put on god knows how much weight. But I went back to ww today (new propoints plan, a bit nervous about how that's going to work for me but fingers crossed) so thought I'd check if this thread is still going strong.

Anyway, glad to see that things are things are going well for so many people. I'm using you lot as inspiration so keep up the good work!

HerculesPoirot · 26/11/2010 14:35

Oh silver I'm so glad you've come back - I am going to start tracking propoints online properly as I put on half a lb last week (which I know isn't really anything) and don't think I'm doing so well this week. I think I've got as far as I can, just winging it and now need a bit of tracking to get back on track!

I had a look the other day, and found it quite complicated, but only because I was so used to the old points I could sort of guess what anything was worth. I know it's just a case of relearning it though so I'll happily do it with you! (hendo btw with a new name)

silver28 · 26/11/2010 20:03

Thanks hercules, I'm a little daunted like you. I knew all the old points abs could have a good guess if I didn't know for sure. Am completely lost now! But I thought that might help, treat it like a fresh start. Also thought that having 49 bonus points to use through the week might help me to get back on track if I go over points one day.

silver28 · 28/11/2010 20:43

Well, three days in and managed to stick to points, despite a visit to MiL today which is normally ruinous! I even managed a walk today (which I normally avoid like the plague!) as it was such a lovely frosty day. Am feeling v positive, let's hope it lasts! Hope everyone else gas had a good weekend.

HerculesPoirot · 28/11/2010 22:06

Well done Silver - I'm glad you've done alright sticking to your points, I'm going to start tracking tomorrow. I weighed tonight and I think i've put on a few lbs this week so I was pleased to read your post! Will let you know how I get on in the next couple of days...

aristocat · 29/11/2010 18:11

no change for me ATM ..... so havent posted

hope everyone else is doing well as its going to be very difficult to be good over the holiday time Hmm

silver28 · 02/12/2010 23:08

Hurrah! Lost 7.5 lbs in week 1 (though I dud take my shoes off for weigh in today, so prob a big less than that really. Still happy though!).

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

HerculesPoiroastinOnAnOpenFire · 03/12/2010 09:50

Well done silver! I haven't actually yet started tracking as such, but 7.5lbs is certainly a massive, massive inspiration!!!!

silver28 · 09/12/2010 22:55

Ok I know noone seems to be posting on here (apart from hercules!) but just wanted to post, for the record, that I lost 5.5 lbs this week, so 13 in total. So yay!! Hope eveyone else is doing ok.

HerculesPoiroastinOnAnOpenFire · 10/12/2010 12:42

Wooohoo! Silver that is A-MAZE-ING as Craig Revel-Horwood would say!!!!

I have managed to just about stay the same over the last few weeks, still not managed to track at all but happy with maintaining for a few weeks. Having seen your success I am confident that when I get the motivation to track again I will do really well.

Silver - can you tell me, if you don't mind, a typical day's food and snacks so I can see what I'm aiming for please?

aristocat · 10/12/2010 14:27

ladies ...... i am still here Xmas Grin

i am now 11st 13lb and doing well. silver Well Done that is a fantastic loss - hope everyone else is ok

silver28 · 10/12/2010 23:17

Thanks both of you. I am pleased but I do feel the need to remind people that I've only lost a lot in the past couple of weeks because I have LOTS of weight to lose!

Hercules, I'm happy to tell you what I've been eating, but it's not v interesting! Under the new plan I get 40 points per day, plus you get 49 to use through the week. I've stuck to about 36 to 40 per day and not really used the extra 49 (though I did go over one day, prob by about ten points).

I have cereal with 3/4 skimmed milk and sugar free vinyl for breakfast, prawn sandwich for lunch with walkers baked crisps and fruit or carrot sticks, for tea something like chicken and veg stir fry with noodles, or chicken stew with veg and potatoes, also have about three cups of tea throughout the day and a ww choc bar after tea.

So not v exciting, and is a lot compared to what others will eat. But it's working for now. I think the fact that I ate soooooooo much pre diet means my body is reacting to eating moderately.

Anyway, fingers crossed that it continues to work and I stick to it. I am notorious for having good starts then falling off the wagon.

HerculesPoiroastinOnAnOpenFire · 14/12/2010 20:02

Woooooohoooooooo! I lost 2.5 lbs this week so am now 15st 13.5. I know it is only half a lb under the stone mark, but it makes such a difference to how I feel when I look at the numbers on the scales!

Hadn't even quite started tracking yet, so now will probably put that off for another week!!!!!

Silver - if I counted up all the weight I have lost over the years and took it off my weight now I've probably weight in negative figures!!! Am definitely going to try to stay on the wagon this time with you!

silver28 · 17/12/2010 14:21

Well done Hercules! That's a great loss, especially when you've bern losing for a while. And it's always good to go under the next stone, it's all progress in the right direction!

I lost 3 lbs this week, so 16 lbs in total since (re)started 3 weeks ago. Am still feeling happy and motivated.

Xmas do is tonight so wish me luck!! Actually, tomorrow will be more of a challenge to eat properly as I expect I'll be hungover!

HerculesPoiroastinOnAnOpenFire · 21/12/2010 14:01

Thanks Silver - good news on your 3 lbs - we're all going in the right direction.

I lost another 1 lb this week so that is good. Hoping to remain the same-ish as far as possible over the next couple of weeks.

Hope you enjoyed your xmas do - mine was also last Friday and so I'm extra pleased with that 1 lb!
