Sai · 26/09/2005 19:21

Hi All!
I know its late but can I join in please?
I'm new on mumsnet.
I weigh 11.7 - thats 2.5 more than I was before I had my baby!
As I'm still bfing, I'm just going to go for the cut-out-all-the-junk-and-walk-everywhere diet.

fishie · 26/09/2005 20:34

hello sai i think having somewhere safe to post weight and progress is really helping me. well i might hjave put it all back on soon - injured knee so no exercise for me this week

dabihp · 26/09/2005 20:43

fishie · 26/09/2005 22:00

dabihp sounds like you are doing ok then? hope you are not deafened by carrot munching. we've had wholewheat spag with veg sauce. lovely.

tina sustaining motivation is so hard isn't it. i'm trying not to eat much at lunch, so its not too bad if i stray in the evening.

sunnyside · 26/09/2005 22:38

allo again.
Iffy day me thinks, mostly because of the amount I've eaten rather than what I've eaten. Eccles cake isn't as good as a giant carrot is it Dabihp?!

Mothernature · 26/09/2005 22:58

The only diet that works is 'smaller plate smaller portion'

Chandra · 26/09/2005 23:00

IMO the only diet that would work for me would be to sew my lips together and throw any object that could cut the thread in deep waters.

I'm not helping, am I?

Mothernature · 26/09/2005 23:05

No, Honestly just give yourself a smaller plate than you usually do, have a smaller portion, don't deny yourself anything you feel like eating, just do it in smaller portions, aim to loose at least 1lb a month...have more vegatables on your plate than meat and sauce, have fresh fruit for dessert, and drink plenty of water throught the day...

fishie · 26/09/2005 23:08

chandra and mother nature. i am aiming for a nice balance of the two......

Chandra · 26/09/2005 23:10

Do you mean you have sewn half your mouth together? [puzzled emoticon], is it working? (heads to find needle and thread).

dabihp · 27/09/2005 09:52

lol mothernature@1 lb a month... would be here forever!

i am calorie counting at the moment - aiming for 1500 a day (which is all food, imo, well, compared to how i was eating, which i guess is why i am here...sob)

I'm feeling really run down at the mo as Bubs is not sleeping too well at night. He's been up every 1-2 hours (unsettled due to a lovely holiday last week). I'm finding it hard to stick to eating healthily as I keep craving lots of sugary foods and snacks to keep my energy up. I haven't been too bad but have had quite a few slices of marmite on toast during the day!

I bought a slimming world magazine today for extra inspiration. It came with an excellent free Curry Collection cook book. I'll probably try a few recipes from there.
Does anyone know if dried soya protein is a free food on green days?

dabihp · 29/09/2005 08:26

Weightwatchers Online (www.weightwatchers.co.uk) is good if you've got plenty of willpower (if not then you really need a weekly visit to a club to get the best support). The secret is to record everything that you eat (the software helps you to work out the points). If you stick to your points then you WILL lose weight and there are foods with no points so you can pile your plate up with them if you find "tiny" meals don't give the same pleasure. I also make sure I snack on things that keep you full-up for a while e.g. a few nuts & raisins or an apple - if I snack on sugary food then that just makes me even hungrier well before my next meal is due. I went from bursting out of a size 16 to easily slipping into a size 12 and there is absolutely no feeling like it - it's really worth the effort and it's saved me money in the long run becuase I can now fit into cheap, trendy clothes from New Look rather than spending a fortune on tailoring to hide the lumps and bumps. Good luck to all of you. When you've got kids it's hard to put yourself first and have a goal that is just about looking and feeling better but the kids will benefit in the long run from your good example and becuase hopefully you'll be happier. PS minor stress incontinence was also virtually cured after losing 32lbs - too much information?

edgetop · 29/09/2005 09:54

hi everyone, glad your doing well sticking at it.im not doing well at the moment, there is a lot going on at home, not all bad i might add,but some how i just cannot get my head around it yet in saying all that im not giving up.

fishie · 29/09/2005 11:07

well it is almost a month and we're all still here hoorah for everyone

do feel better for eating more healthily. don't think i have lost anything this week though, have not travelled far from the sofa!

SonyaP · 29/09/2005 13:34

I just wanted to share my chocolate and takeaway diet

I got a bit curvy after having a baby (size 14 instead of 10) - I think cos i was tired and fed up and comfort eating. I wasn't really eating anything else bad so I made a strict rule that I was only allowed one takeaway and one chocolate bar a week. It worked really well, went down to a size 12 in a few weeks. Was bliss to get back into my old clothes.

My sister has lost 3 stone this year by exercising loads and loads (swimming or exercise bike most nights) and general healthy eating e.g. not keeping anything bad in the house. She went for a health check with a nurse, was given advice and goes to see her every 3 weeks to be weighed.

Losing weight is really hard so good luck everyone.

gabster · 29/09/2005 14:50

Hi, I lost 24lbs in 12 weeks, lost 8 inches from my body and dropped 2 dress sizes safely and easily and have maintained it with no problem at all. I feel fantastic with more energy than I can remember since my 3yr old was born. This was with Herbalife - I liked the products so much I am now a distributor . I finally feel in control of my weight and don't think I will ever worry about it getting out of control again. Have a look at my website if you're interested at \link{http://diet-4-wellness-n-health.net}

dabihp · 04/10/2005 18:50

sweetbean? i have been experiencing this... think its due to eating too much chocolate....

(are u due on, or up the duff?)

OP posts:
Sai · 05/10/2005 09:14

I get this and I know if I cut down on processed foods, it usually gets better. It could be too much sugar, salt or yeast so yes, chocolate can do it as well as bread.
