Should I mention my husband's Mounjaro side effects and eating my lunches

I'm not supposed to know DH is taking mounjaro but do. I've had to endure three months of awful mood swings, temper tantrums, nausea, violent tummy upsets. However, he has lost a lot of weight.

He insisted on buying and cooking his own food. Which upset me at first but I've got used to.

However, I did my own shop yesterday for lunches, coronation chicken planned for two lunches, cold meat for another two lunches. I had some chicken yesterday. Today all the chicken has gone and most of the cold meat.

Now I've said nothing because his mood swings have abated, he's being nice.

Should I say something or just be grateful that my DH is easier to live with.

MJ user but I’ve never had mood swings. I had horrible nausea when I was on too high a dose and I’ve had heartburn but I can’t say it was so insanely bad that it turned me into a horrible person.

MJ wears off toward the end of the week so I always have my highest suppression up to date 3 or 4. By day 6, I start feeling really hungry but if I do overeat, I suffer for it. I feel bloated and sick.

So if your husband has raised the fridge and eaten loads, he may well pay for it later. It takes up to 30 days for a single shot of MJ to leave your system.

If he isnt eating enough of the right stuff I can see why there would be mood swings. Suggest to him to get some protein powder for when he's not hungry but will give him energy and save your chicken!

Definitely say something about him eating all your food! I mean I thought WLI were meant to make you less compulsively greedy?! Tell him to up his dose! It's daft he's hiding taking them anyway.

OH he's had indigestion at night and a few days ago ate a brown bap that made him feel ill and bloated.

He wants people to think he did it the old way through willpower. He has a fierce sweet tooth and enjoys his beer. Now he's no urge for most things. It's just fuel.

Ok, let's say you "know" he's taking MJ but what you don't know is what else he's taking. Because, again, extreme mood swings and being a food -stealing dickhead are not part of the mounjaro picture.

He didn't take the jab last Friday. I think that's helped apart from what people call food noise coming back. But his mood is much improved.

It's not different for a man or woman.

A man or woman going through such a change and experience should be able to share with their spouse and also get support for them unless they think said spouse will use it against them or not be supportive so other posters are right when they say this suggests a relationship issue.

The spouse and family have to deal with the side effects, and the costs etc and are you just going to pretend he hasn't lost weight and avoid the topic or pretend hey well-done your diet and gym worked? Isn't that weird?

And now you need to talk to him about how the side effects are affecting you and the family you're going to make something up and pretend you don't know it's MJ?

I do praise him for losing weight. I know it's hard I've had to be careful for 56 years since I hit puberty.

Yeah it's not on nicking your lunches after saying he only eats his own shopping. You should make him replace the chicken and ham. It makes no odds if he's on MJ or not. It's greedy and rude to pinch others food!

Among many things on this thread I'm curious about, one is how you know this for sure, given he's obviously not injecting in front of you. If it's just the lack of a new bruise then that's meaningless. I only bruise occasionally when I nick a capillary.

So you're late 60s minimum. What age is he? Is he drinking enough water for starters? Because someone in their 70s (?) following a quirky restrictive diet and dropping weight fast could end up with mental health symptoms. Which are not to do with the MJ itself.

Huh!?! I've never once had any bruising from mounjaro, even when I used the thicker 1ml syringes for the golden dose. The mounjaro tips are so tiny, short and the gauge is VERY thin.

I too think the bruising is from something else he is injecting!

Weird thread. Mounjaro doesn't cause mood swings, being late with the jab wouldn't make food noise come back so quickly and one bap wouldn't cause so much illness.

TBF it does happen, you can nick a capillary near the surface. But not every time by any means!

I've never had bruising on my stomach, and neither have my friends I've chatted with. Upper thigh, yes, if you accidentally jab a blood vessel.

I don't know anyone with mood swings either.

Those who keep it private don't keep it private from their spouse. That's definitely odd.

I'd have a word. If all the chicken for several days has gone, he's obviously binge eating, which is very unhealthy and also a stupid thing to try hide. It's not like you aren't going to notice three days worth of dinners has evaporated.

Talking to him to agree how to support him and also to establish what's really going on. The single nap is not convincing, there's definitely something else going on.

As someone who has used mounjaro for almost 2 years, it does lower blood pressure and sugars, so if he isn't eating enough or enough protein, he may be affected by that, which may explain him taking your chicken, but usually low blood sugars make me low, dizzy and lethargic and I want to rest and stay inside, I don't have mood swings or anger. If anything losing weight is beneficial and balances hormones so I feel a lot more chill than I used to. I would still bring up the chicken and suggest a solution such as he replaces yours and buys his own too or whoever goes to the shops next buys enough for both.
I have told everyone that I'm on mounjaro, I figure people would've realised something was going on after losing over 4st 5lbs and let's face it, almost everyone is on it these days, it's quite normal. You could have a supportive discussion with him about it.

Make him get a blood glucose meter so you can check his blood sugars. I'm type 2 diabetic and am horrible when my blood sugars are low... DH knows not to argue with me and just gets my testing kit out of the cupboard. If he's not eating enough and using a diabetes drug, chances are he's having a hypo and that could be quite dangerous.

msybe it’s something that affects men specifically? I don’t know but I raised it with him, he recognised that he was much more snappy and prone to angry outbursts and has worked hard to try to rein it in.

luckily he has finished the weight loss and is back on the lowest level which seems to be helping.

My DH and I are both on Mounjaro. None of us is bad tempered or having mood swings, or tummy upsets. Your DH must be on too high a dose for his body to handle. He needs to report his side effects honestly and drop back a dose.
