Team RH - is this ethical?

Disclaimer: I hate Richie from Team RH and think he’s generally an awful person as well as being a massive grifter. His latest is that he claims that he will be offering Mounjaro pens to members of Team RH at cost price (this must be through some sort of partnership with a pharmacy but he hasn’t said this). You can only get them at this cost though if you sign up to his monthly plan (the one you can’t cancel without him sending debt collectors). How is this remotely ethical? Surely Mounjaro needs to be prescribed by a pharmacist or doctor? How can he be the gatekeeper for this? Say I sign up to his club and want the pen? Can I cancel if the pharmacist declines to prescribe it? Will he be putting pressure on the partner pharmacy to prescribe to people who might not be suitable so that he can get his members?

Sorry for the rant. He just pisses me off and I don’t think that he should be flogging prescription drugs at cost price that he doesn’t know much about. He takes them himself and claims that his BMI is over 30 due to muscle but I doubt that.

Its about 68 quid for the year with the current discount code so not bad really. Especially if it helps to prevent people undereating. Not sure if there is any extra fees to pay. I have followed the plan in the past and i hate to admit it really does work. I could eat loads

A yearly plan…….. you mean like most gym membership used to be? You would join be active for 3 months go on holiday and never go again but all the while still paying your gym membership

that’s where the likes of pure gym and others have boasted about cancel anytime etc because being tied in to 12 months was a regular occurrence

Paying the membership fee upfront is the goal that RH is trying to achieve, with the promise of cheap pens as an incentive. No one has any idea what the price at “cost” will be, as he isn’t saying. Or even if it will materialise at all. But it won’t matter to him as enough people will have paid him £68 or £78 or whatever for a year’s membership. When in all likelihood if he does manage to supply prescription meds to people, it won’t be any cheaper than the existing cheapest pharmacies.

Pharmacy’s are prescribing WLI. He does a fitness app. Both are legitimate services in their own right and theres nothing unethical about two businesses joining forces to give a combined service.

Do you think he is willing to risk his business failing by not following through with this? He may be alot of things but I dont think he is stupid.
Plus, I am sure many people would benefit from the plan regardless. The amount of people who are advised to instantly reduce calories and/or up the dose before trying the basics if they dont lose for a week or so is crazy. Also, so many people having to maintain at such low calories. The more you can eat the better, surely!
Personally i got to goal and used chatgpt for a strength training and reverse diet plan, so i dont really need the team rh app. But, as i said before, ir it means cheaper MJ i am all for it.
Lots of people seem sure he can't offer it much cheaper than other pharmacies. How can they possibly know? Seems alot of assumption. No issue with disliking Richie, but surely you would need to see the cost before you bitch about it?

I ask because i find it strange to disagree with a medication to treat a chronic illness.

I struggle to reach 10k steps whilst walking around my fields poo picking and doing all my chores twice a day at the stables. I its about 6k at most. i have to actually go our for a long walk to hit the 10k. (i take my watch off to ride so that its not false steps) You must have one hell of a garden!!

It takes moments to report an illegal advert to the MHRA or the ASA. I am quite happy to say that his behaviour and attitude bother me, in the sense that I hope people are aware of what they are signing up for if they get involved with this chap and his app. That's based on his previous behaviour and the previous rulings against him from the ASA. As you say, some people find his approach like catnip and he has his section of avid supporters.

Because there is a non medical cure for being overweight. A healthy diet and exercise.

The injections melt your fat. I’m not convinced they don’t melt your bones and muscle with it.

I have osteoporosis so that will affect how I see things.

I’ve only recently been seeing his posts on SM. He seems to speak a lot of sense. I do enjoy his tearing apart of Slimming World.

Yeah he speaks a lot of sense, calling women “fat fucks” with “fat fannies” and ridiculing people doing couch to 5k and parkrun. He keeps saying his plan is great yet here he is touting weight loss meds. A bit like personal trainers selling steroids I guess. He also comes up with ridiculous advice such as telling people to count apparently calories in their lip balm. He used to have a lovely girlfriend at the beginning but thankfully she wised up and left him. Anyone that abusive online is likely also abusive in a relationship.

FWIW, I know two people on the injections and they're both working very hard to lost the weight and build muscle plus bone density. The injections help, but they're clearly not an easy fix.

Regardless of how the science works, I don’t think its a good idea. “Melting fat” is a metaphor for quick weight loss which can lead to bone and muscle loss.

Unless habits are changed surely the weight will be regained when the injections are stopped. There’s no easy fix.

But this is my opinion. Feel free to throw some more nasty slur my way simply because I don’t agree with you.
