Hello everyone, I'm due to start on MJ in the next few days, and I'm feeling nervous!

I've been above size 20 since I was about 14/15 years old. The highest weight I've ever logged was 134kg, about 14 years ago. I'm currently 117kg. I also have issues with my heart caused by Cushing's, type 2 diabetes and PMOS.

In the past few years, I'm yo-yo'd between 125kg and 110kg three times. I know how to lose weight and can do it... but as soon as work gets busy or stressful, I fail and give up. I also have an issue with binge and secret eating.

I went for my annual diabetic review yesterday and the nurse basically used the whole time telling me about going on MJ, because my BMI is over 40 (well, as of yesterday's weigh in, I'm 39. something) and because of my other health conditions. I didn't have to fight for it, or request it.. they're just giving it to me.

Now I'm doing as much reading/ video watching as I can to clue myself up.

On my on-track days, I eat:

Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs with some flavouring- chilli flakes or marmite or 15g cheddar.

Lunch: Chicken thigh fillet in some kind of seasoning mix, salad made of lettuce, pepper, tomatoes, cucumber, sugarsnaps, carrot. Sometimes 3 cream crackers and a laughing cow triangle as well.

Dinner: Varies- roast chicken dinner/ 5% fat mince spaghetti bolognese with wholewheat pasta/ beef burger without the bun with cheese, salad on half the plate, usually without chips, noodles with chicken and stirfry veg.

Snacks: Usually a portion of berries/ a nectarine/ cherries/ 25g peanuts at 4pm.

How does that sound?

I have a treadmill and run/walk at 6.5/6km/hr pace for 30 mins three times a week. The nurse said I should do some weights for my arms too.

Any recommendations for which day I should inject?

Thanks. But will a new provider sell me the 5mg if I was not there with them for the 2.5mg.

Find it a bit crazy from a regulatory point of view if they do, but hey ho!

Yes, you just need to provide the proof of your previous prescription.
Screen shot, pic of box lable etc

Not done it myself, but my understanding is that most will if you can show evidence that you have been on it already, so the label on the box with your name, dose and the date on it.

I guess if you’ve only been on 2.5 and want to go to 5, some won’t…… OTOH, there’s no good reason for them not to, because going up one step is a legitimate move.

Where is everyone buying the 5mg and at what price?
I have been lucky for a couple of months that the 2.5 mg was working but not anymore so I will go for 5 mg next week but the prices are scary.

I’m with Curely.

The list price for 5mg is £185, but I am on subscription (which you can apparently pause without penalty), so get 10% discount - I paid £166.50 for my current pen. Apparently new subscribers get 20% discount, though whether that’s first order or subsequent ones as well, I’m not sure.

Oh, and they do “Curely Credits” on each purchase as well, effectively earning points to set against future orders. If you’ve only apply the credit from the last order to the next one every time, you would be paying £163.17 each time.

I have emailed IQ Doctor about price matching as their discounts for new customers are great. But not for repeats.
I get £30 off retail now.
If i wasnt with them I would consider them for 5mg.
Otherwise I am looking at switching Medicine Matketplace, their retail price for 7

IQ Doctor 5 is good. £136 i think incl discount plus postage.

HappyNewt · 21/09/2026 15:27

for info - reply from IQ Doctor regarding price matching

Thank you for reaching out. We do appreciate your continued loyalty.

We are able to price match, to be considered for a price match, please send us a SCREENSHOT image of another provider's price (In checkout), including any discounts or delivery fee etc to our email address ([email protected]). Once we receive this the finance team can make an assessment and see if we can price match your order.

Once approved, please make a full order with us and we will refund you the difference. Please also ensure you provide us with the order number so we can allocate the refund to the correct account.

I'm on my 4th day of my new 5mg dose and certainly feeling the difference between this and my previous dose!

Yesterday was a bad one- I had a small portion of corned beef hash for lunch. This was a foolish move! I then had a small chicken breast wrapped in bacon, a few roast pots, carrots, broccoli and a bit of gravy, followed by some grapes and woof! it all came up an hour later. I reckon the hash was too fatty/salty.

I'm also pretty constipated and bloated and probably only managed about 1000 cals or so after losing all my dinner. I need to be very careful today...so far, so good on the vomiting front!

Anseranser · 21/09/2026 20:53

Eeeeep 😬
I'm starting 5mg tomorrow, but it's going to be an evening dose as I have to be in the office for once. Usually I'm WFH so I jab mid-afternoon. I'm a bit intimidated, but at least part of that is that DD has been off school today with a tummy bug so that's got me feeling wobbly myself. I wish there was a way I could convince my brain to chill out!

getawayfromme · 21/09/2026 21:25

I weighed in this morning and haven’t actually lost anything this week! I’ve been working away so had a couple of client meals, late nights, long journeys etc.

Ah well. Hoping this week will be more stable!

Gonksmum · 21/09/2026 23:05

@Anseranser I'm thinking of it as a learning curve/ trial and error thing - avoiding trigger foods and certainly sizing down my meals. Just try and take it easy and slowly with small meals/snacks with protein and fibre.

I overloaded my stomach at dinner yesterday and later, after showering and bending to dry it decided to make a hasty reappearance! I had a small bowl of chilli today, no sour cream, no cheese and all is well. I'm taking a supplement of calcium, vit d and magnesium to offset dairy deficiency.

MiaN · 22/09/2026 04:03

I am not getting as good effect from 2.5, but that could be for just being abroad as well. I am having one drink each night, no dessert and allot of veggies fruit and protein bigger portions then what I eat at home. On the plus side no side effects either. I probably would have not booked holiday so early in my glp journey but it was already booked and I am making most of the time on the sun.

Another podcast episode I thought its good listen

Anseranser · 22/09/2026 06:25

Sounds lovely, @MiaN !

Thank you @Gonksmum , I'll do my best! Like you say, it's all trial and error for every individual, I'll have to wait and see. I'm once again coming round to my "if I won the lottery" wish - imagine having a personal chef! It'd make life so easy. Not least because I wouldn't have the nerve to ask someone to fetch me a biscuit 😂

I'll do the jab when I get home this evening, but I weighed when I got up earlier, and I'm now at 93.6kg, which is 1.2kg down from last week (which had been no change from the week before) so that's encouraging. Slowly slowly and all will be well!

TinDogTavern · 22/09/2026 09:16

So I was going to squeeze another jab out of the 2.5, but the pen wasn’t having it (is this A Thing?) so I started on the 5mg, even though I was going away. Luckily I’ve had no side effects apart from some mild nausea in the mornings. The suppression is VERY strong for me on 5mg which is great.

I got very disheartened in weeks 3 and 4 on 2.5mg as I lost 1lb, then 0lb, after bigger losses in weeks 1 and 2, but I really shouldn’t complain as 9lb in 4 weeks isn’t too shabby.

I’m on holiday this week so will see how things go, bound to eat more than usual but will try and be reasonably healthy. Also I’ll be away from scales for a week - not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing.

Having started to measure my activity levels I was genuinely shocked at how sedentary I’d become. I can’t remember which one of you lovelies put me on to exercise snacking but that’s been great. I’ve started walking to things that I used to drive to (really embarrassingly short distances that I should never have started using the car for if I am honest) so hopefully that will start to make a difference.

PuzzledObserver · 22/09/2026 09:52

@TinDogTavern me! It was me who put you on to exercise snacking, so pleased it’s helping.

Also interested to hear your experience on 5mg. I chickened out from that and did 3mg on Sunday. I’ll see how I’m feeling by the end of the week, whether I do the same again or more next week.

Mamatriesmounjaro · 22/09/2026 14:47

@TinDogTavern I really had to force it to get mine to go for the 'golden dose' and I think I got a drop or two less than usual but trying not to worry about it! Once it has clicked all the way round though it did I next smoothly if that helps for next time!

Anseranser · 22/09/2026 16:37

@TinDogTavern I know what you mean about becoming sedentary. I work from home, and now my kids are old enough to be sensible I don't get out of the house for the school run any more either. So far PE with Joe three times a week is going well 🥳

chocolatecoveredpretzels · 22/09/2026 22:04

Hi everyone. Is anyone else looking at 7.5mg doses? I had an appointment with my nurse for a check in last week but was cancelled because she was ill. She called today but I was working and couldn’t pick up. She left a voicemail about wanting to move me to 7.5, even though we hadn’t talked about how I’m tolerating 5mg and that my weight is coming down quite well.

I don’t want to move up for the sake of it. Suppression is good. The upset stomachs have stopped and I’m also not constipated. The burps have stopped too.

OP posts:
PuzzledObserver · 22/09/2026 22:39

Maybe it’s different if you’re accessing it privately, I don’t know. But personally I will only move up to 7.5mg if I’m not getting sufficient suppression on 5mg.

If you’re losing weight at a decent rate, why go up?

Mamafromthebeach · 23/09/2026 02:22

@chocolatecoveredpretzels I have been given a 5mg script for next pen and I think I will try 3.75 unless my weight drops by 0.5kg or more this week. Otherwise I will just use the 5mg pen to continue on with 2.5mg dose. Could you do similar with the 7.5mg pen? Leave the dose at 5mg by click counting but you will have the option to increase if you feel the need?

Blushingviolets · 23/09/2026 07:21

Cheeky early weigh in today and I’m 4.8kg down in total since 17th August (lost a little before the first jab). Definitely happy with that as I’m full of cold, feeling rotten and haven’t really been able to do much more than walk the last few days.

Mj plus cold do mean I cannot stomach the thought of breakfast at all so I’m going to try and do the school run before eating and see if that’s better. Definitely don’t think I’m ready to go up to the suppression of 5mg yet.

MiaN · 23/09/2026 07:37

I missed my 6 weeks weight in today. The suppression is lower and of course I dodn't know if it's being away and not having a good control over how the food is cooked or as simple tine to up the dose. Went up to 3 - some extra clicks from a golden dose. I had 2- 2.5 pens and kept a last dose of pen 1 for my trip.

I count calories and in deficit- more modest most days but it should be about 15 - 20% average. Estimation so no idea of accuracy but I should gain anything. No strenght at all even thought I brought some videos ans stretch bands. About 15000 steps daily.

3 more holiday days. I will resume normal service on Saturday

MiaN · 23/09/2026 09:32

Sorry for all the typos 😬. Between being too sunny and not seeing the screen properly and bad autocorrect my post makes little sense!

I guess it was the right move to stay on 2.5 with the trip planned as no side effects but I wish suppression was little stronger.

Blushingviolets · 23/09/2026 11:43

@MiaN jealous of your sunshine, it’s raining here. Enjoy your holiday!

Mamatriesmounjaro · 23/09/2026 16:47

I'm really having a wobble today. I'm worried that this is not happening quickly enough and also worried about it working at all and ending up with loads of loose skin and no boobs. I've lost 6% of my weight in 4 weeks so I know objectively it must be working but then it worries me either way!

I've had three children and breastfed them all so I imagine some loose skin would be present eventually if I'd been thin. But I keep beating myself up for letting myself ever get this heavy to start with. Does anyone else struggle with that? I'm actually a lot more 'body positive ' when I'm not trying to lose weight and then as soon as I start trying to lose it all I can see are the ways I've let myself down.

Argh! I guess this is a result of being put on diets before I hit puberty - I get really emotional about it all and just want to call it a day!

MadameMacaron · 23/09/2026 23:35

Just had my first week’s holiday on Mounjaro and injected whilst I was away. Pleased as I had a nice time, enjoying daily food / drink treats without going over the top! Had (at least) a glass of rosé each evening and half a (v large!) pastry most mornings. Nothing like my normal number of holiday treats, but on the the whole I didn’t feel like I was missing out. Enjoyed healthy evening meals of fish or chicken. Plus did a lot of sea swimming and snorkelling. Over the 8 days I put on 0.5lb - which I am fine about.

I found lunches a bit more difficult as I had less control but tried to have small portions and pad out with lots of salad. And I did find as the week went on I became less vigilant and had an extra alcoholic drink without thinking or grabbed a handful of nuts because they were there…

Had my review with the pharmacist today and I have gone up to 0.5mg for week 9. Wanted to wait until after my holiday but as my weight loss has slowed right down from week 5 I am hoping this will be the boost I need. Fingers crossed re side effects.
