I lasted a day on Wegovy, forgot about it on day 2 due to horrible headaches.

im glad you ladies are doing well on it.

It’s not for me sadly, I’ll just stay rotund and cheer you ladies on from the sides.

I had my weigh in today an lost 0.6kg. I am glad, I thought it would be less. I think I won't be 'overweight' by Christmas, but that is okay, under 100kg is around the corner :).

An amazing realisation for me, now down 3st 5lb which give or take is what my 6 year old weighs. I’ve recently had to lift him a fair bit and heck how I carried that weight around every day is shocking/amazing, I for sure could not carry him all day!

well done @HelenDenver !

Hatty65 · 13/09/2026 15:47

Well, having said I was going to leave it for a month before weighing myself I caved in 😁I weighed myself after 2 weeks, just before taking injection number 3 and I have lost 7lb, so I'm jolly pleased. Seems like a good amount to have lost on 2.5mg even if some is water/fluid.

I've ordered the 5mg dose for next month and I'm part way through week 3 now, but as long as I can keep steadily losing a bit every week I don't know whether to go up any further.

Anyone got opinions or knowledge on whether proceeding all the way up to 15 is sensible, means I'll lose more faster (I've got 7 stone to go) or whether providing I've got no great appetite and am losing a couple of pounds a week I should just stay on the 5? All suggestions very welcome.

HelenDenver · 13/09/2026 15:58

I did two pens of 2.5mg and I am now on my second 5mg pen.

I would not go up until you “need to” ie you aren’t feeling appetite suppression and weight loss has stopped.

ETA averaged out I am losing about 1kg ie 2lbs

WeAllHaveWings · 13/09/2026 16:57

Hi @Hatty65 ,

I’m one of the older posters on these long running threads. I still drop in now and again to see how everyone I met here is getting on, although I don’t post much these days now I’m in the boring maintenance phase!

I lost over 9.5st on Mounjaro, with 3.75mg being my highest dose, over around 19–20 months, and I’ve now been maintaining for about 9 months, currently on 2mg Mounjaro.

One thing I’ve found helpful is thinking about obesity as a disease rather than Mounjaro being another diet. You’re treating something that affects everyone differently, so the dose that works best for one person won’t necessarily be the same for someone else, both for weight loss and for maintaining afterwards.

I’d also say there’s no need to feel that you have to move up through the doses if the one you’re on is working well for you. If it’s allowing you to maintain a sustainable calorie deficit, there’s little benefit in paying more or possibly having more side effects than you need to. Faster weight loss isn’t necessarily better either; around 2lb-ish a week when starting out is already a really good rate.

If you find you’re struggling to maintain a deficit on your current dose, I’d personally look at the basics first - whether you’re getting enough protein and fibre, staying hydrated, (all help work with Mounjaro, help with satiety) any particular foods that seem to trigger cravings. If you’ve got those things reasonably well covered and you’re consistently finding the deficit difficult , then that might be the point to consider increasing dose.

Just sharing what worked for me, everyone’s journey is different, and you’re doing brilliantly.

Hatty65 · 13/09/2026 17:07

@WeAllHaveWings and @HelenDenver Many thanks.

My personal inclination is to stay low and potter along slowly, so that makes a lot of sense. Thank you for taking the time to respond and @WeAllHaveWings that was really detailed and helpful. I'm naturally not terribly keen to take larger amounts of anything that I don't need.

I'll stay where I am as long as I'm losing a bit then!

MooBaggage · 13/09/2026 17:34

Hello @WeAllHaveWings 😊👋

And Hi @Hatty65 I agree with WeAllHaveWings - no need to move up doses if you're managing the food noise and making good eating choices on whatever dose you're on. I've been on MJ for 20 months and did go up to 15mg in the end, but am back on 12.5mg even though I've still got 3lbs to lose to get to my target - 15mg was too much and made me feel too poorly and I actually didn't lose any more quickly than on 12.5mg - it's just taking longer than I'd like at this stage, but increasing the dose wasn't the answer!

I stayed for months and months on around 5mg/6mg - I only moved up once I felt the food noise kicking back in, but am hoping to get back down to 2.5mg eventually!

Hi @WeAllHaveWings I am reading the old threads, I am currently on thread 4 and have met you, hello, it is so nice of you to say hi here! These threads are such a treasure box full of so much wisdom.

@Hatty65 I also try to stay as low as I can. I am on 2.5mg and currently have three 2.5mg pens in my fridge, I really like to have old pens with 5 portions, which I know will finish in April 2027, so I got on a bit of a stupid spending spree, because I think it could happen that the food noise comes back and then I have to take a higher dose out of the 2.5 pen and then even it being a old pen would not make it a good deal. Well time will tell. But apparently some people stay on 2.5mg the whole time.

WeAllHaveWings · 13/09/2026 18:58

@Cheesecake53 😳 I dread to think how much nonsense I was posting back then 🤣

iirc I was very adamant in the early days that no one should use a pen for longer than 6 weeks (35 days) for lots of unknown risks. Times have changed 🤣

When I started maintenance I copy/pasted a 1000 post maintenance thread into a word document and asked ChatGPT/Copilot to summarise all the hints and tips and it worked well. Might save you some reading!

Cheesecake53 · 13/09/2026 19:36

Thank you, that is a good tip!

Blooming scales. I went up to 10mg last Saturday so now have done two 10 mg Saturday jabs. All good, food noise reduced, appetite down. Yesterday I weighed and was 2lb down in a week. Great, and fits with my eating and exercise of the past week. Weighed myself today and I have put on 3lb overnight, despite low calories yesterday and no snacking. I know it's not that I've really gained 3lb but it is a bit interesting. Plus I had just been to the loo so it wasn't the weight of yesterday's dinner 🤣

Move the scales to a different part of the floor. This sometimes gives me different readings.

MooBaggage · 14/09/2026 12:03

Blooming scales indeed! I also do the shuffling them around the floor trick
😀
I also ignore any weight that is more than my lowest recorded - unless it stays at the higher number for e.g. more than a few weeks, which hasn't happened yet. I don't record it and these days don't even think about it, because I know it's just water/salt retention, depending on what I've been eating or drinking.

So at the moment, my weight on paper and in my head = 11st 13lbs, but the scales showed 12st 1lb this morning. Am ignoring it and if anyone asked me, I'd say I weigh 11st 13lbs. Works for me 😀

I obvs only do this if I know I'm sticking to eating sensibly, doing my handweights, walking etc., which I am. If I go off the rails at any point and put a few lbs on which then don't shift, that's a completely different matter - hopefully this won't be happening!

It's been a really difficult week or so here - I lost a very close friend to cancer last week - very fast and unexpected so we're all in shock 😢 I was very grateful to be able to get to see him the night before he died and (although this isn't the slightest bit important in the grand scheme of things) I did buy crisps and sweets for the drive (I drove from Manchester to Devon and back in a day to visit him) and realised this was the first 'binge' I'd had since starting on MJ, but despite the awfulness of what happened, it has definitely been a one off, which I suppose is something.

I know that it really isn't important, but just wanted to reflect that MJ does hopefully make me/us act like a 'normal' person, in that at times of stress the occasional blip happens, but very quickly you can get back into the usual routine.

My 2 mile a day walks are continuing and it's been a comfort being able to get in the fresh air and do them and think about my lovely friend.

I've also been reflecting how ridiculous and unfair life is, when someone (like him) is fit and healthy, doesn't drink, smoke, overeat, has always looked after themselves, and dies from cancer within a week of diagnosis. Then there's me who has essentially abused my body for my whole adult life, still trundling on (touch wood).

So, the positives - I'm keeping healthy, it's not too late and my body is enjoying being out and about and mobile - and I'm thankful to be here 💕

I am so sorry that happened. Thinking of you @MooBaggage. FlowersFlowers Flowers

RobinEllacotStrike · 15/09/2026 15:33

Oh @MooBaggage big hugs.

Your post has given me pause for thought. I am having a very difficult time with DD 15yo - she is relentlessly rude now & after doing her best to ruin our summer holiday she has become pretty much wild - she doesn't resepct me and will do exactly what she wants, ignore me completely unless she is raging and shouting at me. its miserable here. I'm really struggling with how to parent her, feeling a bit of a failure, and facing that she may well go and stay with her Dad for a bit as we are in a doom loop that is doing neither of us any good.

Blah blah blah - the point is, I've been in an upset/emotional turmoil all day and kept thinking about food. And I've been deflecting/avoiding etc - being called back into those old habits.

You post kind of snapped me out of it & gave me some focus. Of course its OK to be upset about this. To feel all these negative emotions, to feel absolutely rubbish & helpless and like a failure. And I'm just now focusing on acknowledging that, and sitting with those emotions instead of stuffing them down with food. They are just feelings - they will pass, they aren't a permanent fixture, and food is no cure.

What I need right now is to be with those emotions, feel them, let them pass through, rather than the old habits of emotional denial & food.

This may sound very simple, but to catch this in the moment - well it feels revolutionary, a real change/shift in behaviour.

May your friends memory be a blessing to you 💐🙏🏽

MooBaggage · 15/09/2026 18:11

Awww- thanks everyone and I'm sorry you're having a tough time @RobinEllacotStrike ❤️❤️.

I came back to this just now to apologise for my self indulgent post - but I knew that you would all get how food plays into all our emotions - as people with lots of weight to lose, the chances are we've been battling it for years and that sneaky desire to eat crap will usually take any opportunity it gets, even when it should be the last thing on our minds... So I'm glad it might have helped a little bit xxx
