Thread 13 and we're still going strong! Everyone welcome 😊

We have kiwis, yoga, smart scales and hammocks and there is always room for new advice, top tips and whatever's on our minds!

OMFG I ordered a size 12 skirt by mistake on Vinted and IT FITS...! It's snug on the hips, but does up (isn't even an elasticated waist). It feels too tight to wear at the moment, but BLOODY HELL..!

I also ordered another skirt that's a size 14 and it's very comfortable/roomy, so maybe I'm an awkward size 13 now!

Still a very definite size 14/16 on top, as the boobs are still proving very reluctant to go 🤦‍♀️

Love that @MooBaggage

Day before my jab today and I have been more peckish. I had 2 custard creams and a choc digestive. Haven't done that for months. However I guess it shows I'm still doing pretty well because pre jabs I would have wolfed down a whole packet of biscuits!

MooBaggage · 05/09/2026 08:18

Eeek! A mini whoosh has ensued and I've lost another lb! Haven't had a whoosh (for me these days, that means losing more than 1lb a week) in a couple of months so am overly excited this morning 😀

SW 13.1.25 20st 3lbs BMI 43.0
CW 5.9.25 11st 13lbs BMI 25.4

So I am in the 11 stones!!! I haven't been here since secondary school (45 years ago) and I am finally in the stone number I intend staying in. Bonkers.

3lbs to go.....

wow @MooBaggage your progress is amazing!

I took my 4th 2.5mg yesterday and weigh in is tomorrow but I’ve not lost anything this week after 2 brilliant weeks. I’ve been eating so healthily and small portions, low carb.
I think I’m very constipated so tries the chia seeds yesterday and had spinach but no change yet!
I hope my body sorts itself soon!

MooBaggage · 05/09/2026 08:27

@BraOffPjsOn constipation is a bugger...

Are you drinking at least 2 x litres of water a day? I also have started taking magnesium tablets (I get the triple ones from Nutrition Geeks), as constipation kicked in for me when I moved to 12.5mg. They're so effective that I only take 2 x tablets at night when I know I'm WFH the next day! Otherwise I take 1 at night, and skip the odd night when I don't feel I need them.

@RobinEllacotStrike would heartily recommend kiwis and I also sprinkle milled flaxseed on cereal/put in smoothies and find that's helpful.

The magnesium tablets make the biggest difference for me though, where 💩 is concerned!

I have not needed magnesium too often but I do take it when I do (for few nights in row until I get in good rhythm. I have pint of water before my first coffee of the day and that combo - magnesium before bed, water before coffee am helps me get back to regular again.

GiveMeWordGames · 05/09/2026 08:54

I'm a known magnesium bore 😁 but, yep, it's excellent for constipation and a good thing to be supplementing anyway.

It must be frustrating after such a good two first weeks @BraOffPjsOn but hopefully it is just being a bit bunged up. I don't know what your plan is for your second pen but I'd probably think about moving up rather than sticking at 2.5.

UnimaginableWindBird · 05/09/2026 09:12

It's my 1 year Mounjaro anniversary today! I'm now 36kg lighter and while I'm not quite at my dream target weight yet, the amount I have to lose to get there is 650g, so I'm pretty sure I I'll manage before too long. I'm currently weaning myself off MJ as I have suspected gallstones, but I'm losing weight on 2.5mg at the moment, so hopefully maintaining drug-free will be tough but possible, at least until I sort out my possible gallstones issue

BraOffPjsOn · 05/09/2026 09:13

Thanks all - I already take magnesium as it calms my brain a little. I think most days I’m drinking at least 2L but will make sure it’s everyday.
I can just about manage a latte as not a coffee dan but might have to gulp some down at this rate!

edited to add: yes staying on 2.5 as suppression has been good and food noise gone.
Not sure going up would make any difference to losing, hopefully it’s the constipation!

Cheesecake53 · 05/09/2026 09:13

That is a brilliant loss @MooBaggage!!

HelenDenver · 05/09/2026 09:19

Brilliant stuff @MooBaggage !

Twizzletoe · 05/09/2026 09:28

I’d love to join. Lost a significant amount 2019-2022 by reducing carbs, generally being sensible and starting for the first time ever in my life regular exercise. Of course the inevitable has happened and it has, all except the last few kilos, crept back on. I’m late 50s my mum was diagnosed with type 2 at 60 and feel this might be my last chance to avoid the same.

I’m an emotional eater happiness, sadness, boredom all the emotions. Aware that I am often picking at stuff that I don’t really need but “fancy” is this food noise? Different to a friend who whilst eating breakfast is thinking about what to have for lunch. I know that I will need to overhaul the way I eat but concerned that the medication will do nothing to deal with the emotional aspects.

Just to be transparent I have a 2.5mg pen in my fridge but am still wavering about beginning. Life events are stacking up a bit at the moment and not sure if I’m worried about side effects or interfering with the couple of meals already arranged for some of the nice events. Lots of the events are less positive like MIL deteriorating and a friend with a new breast lump.

Sorry this turned into an essay. Thanks for reading my stream of consciousness if you got this far. Please give me some reassurance/kick up the backside anything to get me in a better mindset to make the changes I know I need to make.

UnimaginableWindBird · 05/09/2026 09:44

I have ADHD and found that Mounjaro helped massively with boredom/emotional/stim eating. For the first few months it felt like the difference between going food shopping when you are hungry and when you have just had a really nutritious meal. Instead of all the delicious food being really noticeable, and situations where I would find myself snacking without conscious thought, I would just eat what I fancied eating, which was usually very healthy.

The effect weakened after a while, but by then my habits had changed enough that I could either resist the urge to nibble or nibble on smacked that supported my nutritional goals for the day - so if I want more protein I will eat cottage cheese or a babybell light or a protein yogurt as part of snack, and if I want more fibre I will go for kiwi fruit or raspberries or a Graze flapjack. I also know that I can eat popcorn, ice cream and squares from a big bar of chocolate in moderation, so I can keep them in the house for whenever I want, but crisps, small sweets/chocolates and packets of biscuits are things I will overeat.

GiveMeWordGames · 05/09/2026 09:52

Hello @Twizzletoe , from someone mid 50s who also has a mum (and Aunt ie Mum's sister) diagnosed in later life with Type 2. There was a definite fear that I was headed the same way.

It's hard to explain until you experience it but the way MJ works I'm not sure it matters whether you're a food noiser or an emotional eater, the MJ simply reduces/takes away the psychological urge as well as making you feel less physically hungry. With emotional eating, it's likely to be the same thing which makes a lot of people (me) feel less interested in drinking. The dopamine response. It just isn't there, so your brain doesn't get the same comfort/buzz. Which is not to say you stop enjoying food - a lot of people fear that - I still like good food. Just less of it!!

You can still enjoy meals out/events - you just think harder about choices and if it's a meal out, checking out the menu in advance can help. Also you can shuffle your jab day around a bit so that you're not having a nice meal out the day after you jab.

Most people find SE mild and annoying at most, plenty get none at all. We go on about constipation on this thread more than anything else!!😁

It took me just over a year to lose 6.5 stone from a starting point of 17st 4 and it's amazing and wonderful and, oh just go for it!!😉

Bunnyjo · 05/09/2026 10:31

Huge well done ladies, so lovely to read these posts!

SW: 15st 5.5lb
CW: 8st 1lb
Loss: 102.5lb
Current BMI: 20
Target Weight 1: 12st 1lb (overweight BMI) - Achieved!
Target Weight 2: 10st 1lb (healthy BMI) - Achieved!
Target Weight 3: 9st 5.5lb (6st loss) - Achieved!
Final Target: 8st 8lb - 9st 1lb - Achieved!

Again, I didn't weigh myself for a fortnight and have lost another 3lbs. In myself, I feel great - eating really well, drinking lots of water and exercise is just a part of my life now, but I cannot seem to stop losing weight. I really, REALLY do not want to lose anymore - I never set out with the intention of being 7 stone something, but that feels like where I am headed and I don't know how I feel about that. I am in danger of obsessing about the numbers on the scales for a different reason now, which I know isn't healthy.

I may go quiet for a while whilst I get to grips with this maintenance lark, because whilst my worries and concerns are real, I feel as though they are tone deaf to those still losing. But I will keep reading your posts and cheering you on from the sidelines.

Lots of love and good wishes to you all 💕

MooBaggage · 05/09/2026 10:41

Aww @Bunnyjo I hope you're OK ❤️❤️❤️ It's true I can't imagine losing weight wothout intending to, but can imagine it's scary.

I'm imagining you've reduced down the MJ and are eating more - can you up the carbs any more - maybe introduce an afternoon tea and toast snack or something?

Totally understand you stepping back, but we're here as and when 👋💕💕

OP posts:
GiveMeWordGames · 05/09/2026 10:47

@Bunnyjo if you don't feel comfortable posting on this thread you could come over the maintenance one in the group, although it's quieter.

Only my opinion obviously - and I'm where you are in terms of being at goal - but I don't think it's tone deaf. It's a struggle all of us on this thread will need to face at some point, so it's no different than being further ahead in your weightloss journey than those at the start, really. And you still need support but in a different way.

I also think it's really good that you know you don't want to lose any more and are trying to stop. There was someone on my month starter thread who was continuing to lose, dangerously, using black market crap, and then went massively aggressive and started trolling the thread when we gently suggested she needed support and help to stop losing.

Edit: I wondered about upping carbs but also if you're worried about carbs calling to carbs too much then maybe trying upping your good fat intake as well (or even the odd bit of bad fat 😁)

NoLongerATeacher · 05/09/2026 10:55

MooBaggage Please can you tell me exactly which magnesium you are using - I’ve tried looking and am getting confused by so many different types even from nutrition geeks. Thank you

Well done as well on your weight loss. I am 8 weeks in and just starting 7.5mg - have lost 1 stone 3llbs. Am 2 stones off target.

Thank you

Bunnyjo · 05/09/2026 12:19

Thanks ladies, it means a lot. And I will check out the maintenance thread too 😊

I have upped my carbs - bread, rice and pasta are no longer the work of the devil. I am even enjoying chocolate when I feel like it, and Pringles too! And I go through a pot of Fage 5% every 4 days (the biggest one).

I have an appointment booked with the GP to get some tests, just to make sure there is nothing medical behind the continued weight loss. Additionally, I have considered stopping MJ altogether; I am now on the equivalent of 2.5mg weekly, so maybe that will be the next logical step...

MooBaggage · 05/09/2026 12:23

Good idea re: blood tests - the only time I lost weight without trying was when it turned out my thyroid gland was effed and it turned out I have Graves Disease 🙄 I was gutted when they fixed it...!

So definitely good to get checked out 👍💪❤️

MooBaggage · 05/09/2026 12:25

@NoLongerATeacher I get this one, as it covers all the different types of magnesium needed for sleep and throughput, shall we say!

6 months to the day since I started MJ. I've gone up to 9.5mg today and really can't face eating anything. How quickly do you feel like your jab kicks in? I'm wondering if this is physical or psychological - I only did the jab 2 hours ago. I know from Shotsy the full impact doesn't hit til the next day but I just wondered about individual experience.

Cheesecake53 · 06/09/2026 11:35

I took my 8th jab this Friday and lost this week 0.7kg and have now lost in total since 17th of July 7.3kg!

SW 110kg BMI 37.2
CW102.7kg (16st 2.4lbs) my BMI ist now under 35 with 34.7!
1st GW under 100kg
Final goal 62kg

I am staying with 2.5mg because I have good suppression and because I have a long way to go and don't want to go up too quickly. Yesterday I managed a for me long walk with 3k steps and was shattered but it felt really good!

MoneyJo · 06/09/2026 12:04

Down a pound again today. Food noise has gone again so the move up a dose was definitely the right thing for me. I just hope I can stay on 10mg for a while now.

HelenDenver · 06/09/2026 12:19

@Cheesecake53 well done! My 1st GW is also to be under 100kg though I don’t have a final GW in mind yet :-)
