TIL about the app ReciMe which means I can save instagram recipes from high protein/fibre posters. Yay!

ETA I like ruthmacfit who has a voice like Olivia Coleman and has two teenagers to cook for too 😀

@AmberLime I don't know if this is correct but I read or heard somewhere that split dosing can reduce your sensitivity to the medication so maybe that would explain the tolerance to 15mg (if true). I think it may have been a US obesity specialist doctor I follow on Instagram but not sure.
He said lower, more frequent dosing is only recommended in cases with side effects where the full dose cannot be tolerated in one go. The theory was that the GLP1 receptors need that dip for a couple of days to recover sensitivity or they become exhausted.
That may not be right but just in case...

And yet the pills are daily.

Weekly injections are a standard thing for medicine delivery because compliance is better than with more complicated schedules or more frequent doses.

I think people who like rules often like to find reasons for the rules. So a dr who doesn’t like patients fiddling around with dosage schedules may develop a theory to support the rule of a weekly injection and to give it a clinical basis in more than just patient compliance.

Good point!

I was looking at my weight this morning and what is it in stones, I would love to lose 5 in one year. If it takes year and half - thats ok too. Can I ask for those who have lost the 5 stone or close to it - how long did it take?

I had very smooth first 3 days but I have this awful feeling - it won't last. Something is going to go wrong again. Reading positive stories is helping me get rid of that type of thinking.

Someone recommended frozen grapes - they feel divine! I have tried them many times without luck but for some reason they are ultimate treat now

GiveMeWordGames · 15/08/2026 08:54

@MiaN I got to 5 stone loss at 8 months. I remember because it was the beginning of December and the run up to Christmas and it seemed like a good place to be.

It then took me nearly 4 months to lose one more!

Really glad things have got off to a good start for you.

MoneyJo · 15/08/2026 09:09

Amazing @GiveMeWordGames
I have lost 2st11 in 5 months and a week so I'm hoping to get to almost 5 stone in a year.

Cheesecake53 · 15/08/2026 10:25

I have a chronic sickness that does not allow much exercise and currently I cannot really leave my house. Does anyone know of any weight or strength exercises that I can do while sitting on the couch?

HelenDenver · 15/08/2026 10:58

I would think you could do bicep curls, lateral raises etc on a chair with small dumbbells.

Sally Gunnell has some example exercises IIRC. Will have a quick Google.

HelenDenver · 15/08/2026 11:09

…Both Sally gunnell and Joe wicks have chair workouts but I’m not sure they use weights. They might be a good start though.

Cheesecake53 · 15/08/2026 11:25

Thank you, I'll look into that.

SecondCircuit · 15/08/2026 14:19

35kg loss so far in 10.5 months.
That puts me with bmi 24 and I’m very pleased but might push for the last final 5kg loss.

However, those first initial losses were the most joyous for me. I started October last year and remember how elated I was before Christmas. Now, it’s a bit of a slog and I’m dreading maintenance stage.

So ladies- you’ve done the most important step, started your journey, started losing; now just keep on steady. There will be occasional wobbles, but as long as you get back on track all will be fine.

I was doubtful at the beginning, impatient and could not foresee myself slim/ normal ever again. And yet, I am. With a newly found love for fashionable clothes with a slightly more daring edge I’m enjoying this summer clad from top to bottom in new Zara items (sale, some were 80% off!) and feeling good.

Keep faith, keep on going and keep on losing ladies!♥️

HelenDenver · 15/08/2026 14:22

Well done on the new BMI and the new clothes @SecondCircuit

SecondCircuit · 15/08/2026 15:46

Thank you @HelenDenver .
Yes, I’m ridiculously excited about those new clothes😁 As far long as I remember I could never fit in anything Zara - all seemed designed with slim, small framed pretty Spanish ladies in mind!

MooBaggage · 17/08/2026 08:12

@MiaN I lost 5 stone in 8 months, but have/had almost 9 stone to lose and the weight loss has really slowed down since around that time! It's taken nearly another year to lose the next 3.5 stone, so my learning is it takes how long it takes and I have to be patient - not easy for me!

@SecondCircuit Congratulations!!! A BMI of 24 is my ultimate goal - brilliant that you are there 😍🥰🥰🥰 I still can't imagine going to Zara, but it is lovely being able to walk into pretty much any clothes shop and not feel like an imposter - rather than the old days of trying to find the Evans section in a dark corner of a Dotty Ps 😁

No weight loss for a while for me - I was in Spain for a few days last week and it was 37 degreees, which I think has made my body cling on to every last drop of water - I also may have partaken in the occasional drop of Sangria...!

So, back to normal this week - hoping to lose the water gain and try for a 1lb loss over the rest of August 🙄🤦‍♀️😬

I have stayed at the same weight for 6 days now - second 7.5 jab was Saturday so I am not planning to go up for a while. It was hot last week so I didn't move much. I know it's not even a week but it is frustrating!

UnimaginableWindBird · 17/08/2026 11:57

I... Think I am pretty much at maintenance now. I'm not quite at my target weight, but I'm at the upper end of my maintenance weight zone. So I've ordered my next pen for the same size, but will also schedule a maintenance consultation as I'm 2kg off my target.

I have being weighing myself in lbs all through the process, but have switched to kg to mark the mental shift.

HelenDenver · 17/08/2026 12:48

well done @UnimaginableWindBird !

childfreebychoice · 17/08/2026 15:20

Not a positive update for me this week, with a 1lb gain.

I was in Edinburgh Wed-Sun so didn't expect a loss, but was really hoping to stay the same as I made the best choices I could, walked loads and even went to the gym twice while I was away. Onwards and upwards though, and I'm targetting a 3lb loss this week (my average is 2lb). Wish me luck!

Start date: 15 June 2026
Starting weight: 18st 7lb
Current weight: 17st 7lb
Loss so far: 1 stone
Initial target weight: 12st 6lb

HelenDenver · 17/08/2026 15:31

Moved up to 5mg on Friday night and struggling to eat today!

@childfreebychoice do you track muscle mass too? I know it isn't 100% accurate but my scales tell me I have put on 1kg of muscle in the last 8 weeks.

Plus if you ate more carbs and less protein, even if you were within your overall calories, you probably have retained more water. Maybe weigh in a few days (if that wouldn't be stressful) and see if the 1lb is still there.

SecondCircuit · 17/08/2026 19:56

Thank you @MooBaggage - haha , I’m very familiar with the experience of exploring shops’ dark corners with XL size garments!
Also was in Spain a few weeks ago (hence Zara haul😁) and have been finding it very difficult to return to sensible drinking since…

..May let myself indulge a couple of weeks more …😜

MiaN · 18/08/2026 06:41

First week is going great, injection day tomorrow. Unrealistic hight loss on the scale but I am well prepared for pound or 2 a week after the honeymoon period.

For those further down the line - did you eat when not hungry at the start? I seem to be hungry from lunch onwards should I be making myself eat breakfast? Also did you have minimum calories in mind of you were tracking calories at the start, with 5 stone to lose?

Any tips on managing and improving energy?

HelenDenver · 18/08/2026 07:10

I track fibre, protein, water and calories.

i do eat at mealtimes even if I’m not hungry and I haven’t had any trouble taking in a minimum number of calories (no less than 150 below my target calories for the day, but it’s rare I don’t reach my target calories)

Conscious that I haven’t had extreme food suppression though so other experiences will be different and I am only 9 weeks in!

MoneyJo · 18/08/2026 07:14

@MiaN I don't eat when I'm not hungry unless I get to about 8pm and see I'm low on protein, then I eat protein.

I haven't had breakfast since I started MJ. To be honest I wasn't much of a breakfast eater anyway but I didn't see any point of making myself eat extra calories. So now I do 16:8 fasting naturally - I have dinner in the evening then nothing til about noon or 1pm. I figure the point of this is learning to eat when you need it not out of habit so breakfast went out of the window.

MooBaggage · 18/08/2026 07:36

@MiaN I also don't tend to have breakfast - I eat when I'm hungry and that usually kicks in at some point in the early afternoon.

When the suppression has been very high I've made chocolate protein shake drinks - I buy chocolate protein powder from Tesco and add some cocoa and milled flaxseed to it, with ice and milk, so at least I've had something.

Mostly I'll have a salad for lunch and then protein for tea - chicken or fish - with veg. I'm rarely in the mood for carbs, so tend to only have rice/pasta if I'm eating out or doing a meal for others at the weekends.

On working days, I often don't eat breakfast before leaving the house so I would just take, say, a PipnNut oat peanut bar with me just in case. But mainly focus on keeping my liquid intake up.

At home I usually would eat something by mid morning but in the early days that could be a tiny bit of greek yoghurt with frozen raspbs or a protein & fibre smoothie.
