So do you take a lower dose from the 12.5mg pen in order to get more doses out of each one? X

yes I keep it religiously in the fridge, it comes out for 2 mins max to get the dosage.
The calculator on monj tells you how many clicks instead of the 60 for a set dose.
At the moment Ive just increased to 3.75 so I get 8 weeks out of the 7.5mg pen, I was getting more as have been on the 2.5mg for the entire 24 weeks. I have 2 x 10mg pens in the fridge which are good til end July and Aug 27. The 12.5mg I have has a use by date of April, so that will be the one I will use next when the 7.5mg runs out. I told my GP what I was doing and he raised no objections.
My lymphodema massage therapist does the same. She uses 1.25mg about every 3 weeks. She says she can tell when she needs to take another shot, because she starts fancying a drink.

In the USA there are alot of people microdosing MJ (or Zepbound as its known there) for the anti inflammatory effects for their lymphodema. Stage 3 clinical trials are currently being done on it for that, and for lipodema. I really really hope that it means lymphodema gets added to the list of conditions. My inflammation reduced almost immediately and weight just started dropping off. There are some really odd things about how lymphodema and lipodema interact with fat cells, they do not really understand the mechanisms. In addition the chronic IBS Ive had for years stopped overnight. Im here for the long haul so I need to try to maximise my pens, as Im a carer on low income. BUT its been absolutely transformational for me. Lets say, in January I was in just a bad place, because Id had a couple of injuries, my weight had done another ballooning jump of a stone as a result (not because of lack of movement - its just something which seemed to happen to me when stress/injury) and my mobility and mental health was at rock bottom. Id even been persuaded to apply for PIP as was finding doing anything impossible. My blood pressure was also through the roof.

5 months on Im like a new woman. My 60th birthday at the end of July I felt better than Ive done for years. Ive had such a busy summer work wise, but apart from when I got covid a couple of weeks ago, I have not been wiped out at all - I managed to keep up at Forest school and a really crazy summer at the glampingsite. Ive completed the first 2 assignments for my MA, had 2 exhibitions and well, its like a bloody miracle. My GP is incredulous and a very very happy man, and my blood pressure is back to the normal range and its likely I wont have to take the v low dose he started me on in the next couple of months.

Weird that it deleted that. Must have auto deleted 🤷‍♀️

Wow @Boreded - what a transformation!

I've stayed the same this week, still that same bloody 1lb away from 10st, but it was my birthday and I decided to not track for 3 days as I went out for brunch and dinner twice, and had proper toast and butter, curry and naan, beer, and a few glasses of wine (not all in the same meal!) It was absolutely worth every calorie - if you can't eat nice food and have nice drinks on your birthday, when can you? Back on the wagon from today though.

I went up to 4mg on Saturday (was on 3.5 for 2 weeks then 3.75 as that was what was left in the old pen). I was finding that I was snacking a little bit in the evenings for the first time in months, nothing mad, but just taking me 100-200 cals over. It's absolutely shocking the very fine line between deficit and maintenance, and my losses have slowed right down so I'm hoping for a bit of a boost.

@GeraldThePufferSponge apologies if this seems obvious, but have you looked at prices on Monj.co.uk? Boots is massively expensive, there are loads who are cheaper, but I guess it depends on who you have used before and whether you can get the new customer discounts. I've never used the same provider twice (I've just started my 5th pen I think).

Happy Birthday.

And yes, definitely enjoy yourself. I have some Chinese food pencilled in for my son’s in November, keeps me going.

Still a long way for me, but I feel like it’s starting to show now. Hopefully each stone now will make an even bigger difference.

Yes, lots of people do. The only thing I found was that after 6 weeks the jab didn’t seem to work as well, it was ok still, just felt it wearing off sooner it seemed.

Boreded · 12/10/2026 23:02

madeinthe80z · 12/10/2026 22:35

@Borededwow well done, those pictures are amazing 👏 what dose are you on??

it’s funny all the talk of birthdays and holidays and breaks, not sure if anyone else is the same but the biggest difference for me with MJ is I can take a short break, indulge a bit more, but then I’m genuinely looking forward to getting back on the wagon, jabbing and picking right up where I left off. Where’s in the past it would have extended many more days or weeks (or not at all!) particularly if I’d had a massively strict run up to said event to get my weight as low as possible…

Just on the 2.5 still.

I’m not actually that bad at dieting, I just struggle with sticking to it after a while…just having the small amount of suppression has saved me from falling off the wagon long enough to start seeing a big difference.

I think I’m one of the lucky ones who is very sensitive to it. I keep saying to people around me that it would be dangerous for someone with anorexia to get it. Last week I was busy and didn’t jab but continued to eat tiny portions, 3 days after I should have jabbed I suddenly felt incredibly sick. Jabbed and ate a cereal bar, fixed it and back to normal. It just completely shuts down my hunger.

Wow @NettleTea it makes me feel really happy to read how transformational this medicine has been for you. Such wonderful news!

And it’s also helpful for me to read about your experience with lymphedema, lipodema and IBS because I have all three of those. And I do feel the MJ helps all of them. In fact — fart situation update — last night is the first night in a week when I didn’t have a horrible tummy ache and chuffing for the whole evening and that’s doubtless because I have jabbed again for the first time in weeks. It’s like a magic salve!

NettleTea · 15/10/2026 10:06

woah. I took a 3.75mg dose on Sunday afterthe 24 weeks on 2.5 and I feel rotten. Tues evening / wed lunchtime, wobbly and shaky like low blood sugars (I recognise the feeling) which was resolved by eating.
this morning overwhelmed by waves of nausea
Im going back to 2.5 on Sunday.

Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that. I have no idea how people double from 2.5mg to 5mg?

I was only on 2.5mg for a month then used the golden dose which was about 3.8mg. Vomiting, diarrhoea, nausea and feeling spaced out. I honestly thought I either had noro virus or had somehow tripled my dose.

I too went back to 2.5mg then only went up slowly, 3mg, 3.5mg, 4mg etc etc. Ginger or peppermint tea might help. Take it easy and I hope it passes soon x

Boreded · 15/10/2026 18:44

I was sick this morning…long story, I get anxiety sick where basically if I have had a panic attack or being similarly anxious my body shuts down and the next day I vomit and have diarrhoea. Haven’t had an incident in about 5 years as my OCD has been under control but it is what it is.

Butttt three good things from it…1) because I’m not eating much there wasn’t much vomit, 2) Mounjaro makes me constipated so it balanced out, and 3) I got into the 14s for the first time in about 15 years 🥳

I think if you persevere you’ll find it settles back down . I always feel slightly off the first two days and then it’s all good again . I do totally sympathise though as it’s horrible xx

sorry to hear that @Boreded that sounds horrible.

It’s not so bad, it used to happen every couple of weeks, I’m well medicated now so I’m usually fine, but every now and again it comes back. I think the weight loss and my body just having less in it is unbalancing me a lot, as I’ve noticed it’s harder to keep everything in check than it has been over the last few years.

But, I’ll take a little while of extra anxiety if it means I get healthy again. What’s the point in getting my anxiety in check if I am too uncomfortable in my own skin to do anything, and too unhealthy to live a long life.

Hopefully it’s just a one off that it has got this bad though.

Worst case scenario you can always go back to 2.5 if it doesn’t work out at 3.75 for you. I’ve been finding 2.5 is fine for me still, not needed to go up, and finally stopped feeling ill for 3 days after

madeinthe80z · 15/10/2026 20:08

@Borededyou poor thing. Hopefully that’s the last of it for you! Annoying when something like that crops up after so long though. Anxiety is a b for that - like, bam here I am! Out of nowhere sometimes 🙈

Nooo, you’re allowed to celebrate when it’s going well.

Sorry to hear you had such a horrible time of it on the higher dose. If you do ever want to experiment with a higher intake overall, you could bring 2.5 doses closer together. Just before I went off the stuff entirely, I did do that for a couple of weeks. (I think it’s called split dosing. I gradually brought the dose days closer together until I was taking 2.5 twice per week. I guess if you were aiming for 3.75 in a week, you could do 2.5 and another 1.25 mid week.) I did notice a slight appetite reduction overall by bringing doses closer together and I think my weight crept down a bit having plateaued for a few weeks before that. I didn’t have any side effects at all.

Update on my return to jabs is that my BMI is now actually just below 25. I’m still a soft, squishy woman on the outside (although I have got stronger muscles underneath from my strength training regime). Lymphodema is less annoying. And tummy issues are completely gone. I am delighted particularly to wave goodbye to my anti-social chuffing!

you poor thing . Actually I found I got bouts of anxiety attacks at the beginning when I started MJ . I think it’s quite common for some people at the beginning . Hopefully it won’t happen again for you x

Yeah I think the thing that caused it is sorted now. It was something that had been bothering me for a short time and I finally let it all out to my husband which brought up all the feelings. But now I’m ok and we are back on the same page 😂

General consensus (inc son) is that I was 💯 right but also 200% more worried than I needed to be 🤣 thanks guys…I could tell by the puking

What’s everybody’s next goal? I had a few breaks August and Oct which really helped me knuckle down before going and I think my next goal is Christmas. I’m wondering if I might even be able to hit my target weight. Although I havent actually set a target yet 😂 I’m so close to being in the ‘normal/healthy’ weight range and yet I really don’t look it so I have no idea what weight to aim for..

OP posts:
KittensAndCupcakes · 17/10/2026 06:00

Hi @madeinthe80z my original weight target was to get into a healthy BMI. As of this week, I am 24.7 so technically I have ticked that box. Now I am unsure what my target is. I feel I could lose a bit more weight without being too little. I have lost it disproportionately so my face is now pretty slim, but areas below have spare fat. I want to strike a balance between looking normal and letting go of whatever unnecessary adipose tissue I can. Will just experiment a bit now.

my non weight target was to keep hold of my (relatively puny) muscles. I started weight training when I started MJ and I’m stronger now than when I started although have prob lost a bit of muscle mass if my body composition scales are correct. Keen to keep hold of muscle and even build it. Have not had this feeling of being in a solid body for years.

Other goals are to keep tuned to emerging evidence for or against use of MJ for general health. It’s helping me with a bunch of other symptoms, but I still have some
fear of medicines in general and esp as this is quite new.

Bye for now. Love to read everyone’s posts and updates.

NettleTea · 17/10/2026 08:06

I think my next goal may be to try to tone up a bit. Especially as we are heading into winter and my time is more sedentary generally on the off season. Ive struggled with protein levels so am aware thats a risk, and now Ive hit the grand old age of 60 I know I dont likely have the fleshy bouceback of youth.

That said, I am notoriously lazy if it comes to exercise, and somewhat adverse, so this may be a pipedream. It may need to rely on my odd bouts of forest school

I always have a series of mini goals, here are my next ones (picture incoming)

Even though the goals are really close together, I find having a goal I hit every couple of weeks keeps me focussed
