I don't think it's unreasonable to have expected a slower rate of weight loss on a minuscule dose of WLI.

Mounjaro is like a sledgehammer compared to the bodies usual signals though, re satiety and motility. If you were at a healthy weight to start with its likely that your body already did well with those signals (eg compared to someone who is overweight and struggles to feel full) so it's not really surprising that it has an effect on your food intake.
I can appreciate it's disappointing if you were only seeking anti inflammatory benefits but they are a minor side effect of what the drugs do.

kljdslhs877 · 04/08/2026 13:10

@Monjminj why are you on this thread? This is a weightloss thread. If you’re looking to discuss the use of mounjaro not for weightloss you should start a different thread.

I wanted the health benefits without the dramatic weight loss. I can't afford to lose that much that fast. At this rate I'll be underweight within a month.

So stop taking it? It’s not that deep as my teenagers would say.

There are easier ways to stop smoking. Like, er, just stopping.

My memory solved the "do I take my pen on holiday" dilemma by forgetting to pack it anyway. It will be interesting to see how my appetite changes as the dose wears off. Fortunately it's happening at a hormonally calmer time of the month too.

AmIReallyTheGrownup · 05/08/2026 07:40

@Proteinpudding thanks for responding. Yes I’m loosely tracking calories to stay around 1600 to 1800. I’m tall & do a lot of exercise, my Oura ring estimates I expend 2200-2400 calories most days. I know from bitter experience that fatigue sets in when I dip too low.

Another 300g (half a pound) off overnight so it is definitely going, just slowly.

The suppression is much stronger with my 4th jab - I really didn’t want to eat lunch yesterday or the day before.

Proteinpudding · 05/08/2026 08:24

@AmIReallyTheGrownup sounds like you're doing fine, I think it's a good rate of loss. For most people if they have a large loss initially it usually slows down and balances out anyway.
Obviously if someone is very overweight they can lose more weight quickly, but for those of us starting at a lower BMI I think 1lb a week average is very typical, and usually it's not linear.

Offredismysister · 05/08/2026 09:02

Im joining. I’m 74kg & BMI 26.3.
Ive been doing weights 3-4 times a week, cycling 1-2 & 10,000 steps everyday without fail. Been doing this for a while & only lost 2kg. My diet is good overall but I do have a sweet tooth. Had first wegovy dose this morning. Edited to add: I’m menopausal too.

RubyTraybake · 05/08/2026 19:59

I started on the 1st July and have lost 6 pounds now. I lost 1.5 stone last year and that took me 5 months! Some people lose it very quickly on low doses but I didn’t lose until I was on at least 5mg and was counting calories to stay below 1400 per day. My sister lost 2 stone in 2 months on 2.5mg, no idea how she did it!

Ah, well it’s primarily a weight loss medication so probably not for you.

So who do you think is being unreasonable in this scenario?

Offredismysister · 06/08/2026 09:19

My first 24 hrs & I’m not hungry at all. I have been very windy though. I’ve planned an easy to digest diet & will keep up with the water & electrolyes.

Hi all!
My first post on here. This chat has been super useful and helped me to navigate an off prescription MJ pen from Voy earlier this week. So thank you all!

Just about to go on holiday and have decided that, keen as I am to get going, I'll need to wait until i return before starting the injections. Want to keep the WLI private, so putting the pen in our v nearly empty-cos-we're-going-away fridge for the next two weeks isn't ideal.

Am I right in thinking that it's okay to leave it out of the fridge as long as it's not in a hot environment until I get back? Think I read something on here about the shelf life of MJ meaning that this will be fine. If not, I'll put it behind the 'wierd sauces' on the top shelf and hope for the best. 😁

writingsonthewall · 07/08/2026 06:47

Oh hello my people, I am seriously considering WLI but can’t tell anyone irl as they’d all be like you don’t need them, that’s such a risk blah blah. BMI is 25, I’m 50 and went through menopause years ago. Have always been slim ish and now cannot lose any weight for love or money. I would like to lose only 1-1.5 stone.

but I’m scared. Worries are:

  1. side effects.
  2. sagginess. I am already saggy :-(
  3. having to be on them forever (cost)

shall I? And if yes mounjaro?

edited to ask what evidence do I need to provide from voy pls

writingsonthewall · 07/08/2026 07:19

Also to add, the 25 bmi is rounded up depending on the day, can be a little less. Will I just be refused? Is there anywhere that doesn’t ask for any evidence.

please don’t berate me for this, I know lower than 25 is technically normal weight but there’s a 3 stone window for me between 18 and 25 and I would so rather be a stone or two lower.

Proteinpudding · 07/08/2026 07:48

You won't get berated in this thread, many of us were starting with the same concerns.
You do need evidence, voy seem to be the most understanding, and most willing to prescribe at BMI 25. I don't know when you weigh yourself but most of us weigh first thing in the morning when we're the lightest, so if you're jumping on the scales later in the day as part of a consultation you might find you're a couple of pounds heavier anyway - I certainly did!

Sagginess is hard to say, it's very individual but I think less chance if you have less to lose, but there's only so much you can do re skin elasticity. However you might be able to change the way you feel about it with some strength training and gaining muscle in the longer term.

Side effects - again very individual. Personally I haven't really had any, occasionally a bit headachey and tired the day of the jab, or feeling a bit uncomfortably full, but nothing significant. I'm on wegovy, I was a bit worried that mounjaro would be 'too strong' for me.

socks1107 · 07/08/2026 08:01

@writingsonthewall I was prescribed by bolt with a bmi of 25.8. I take medication for high blood pressure Though.
I have had some nausea and have had to drop to every other day but once I did that the nausea stopped and now I’m working back up to every day next week. I’ve lost 3.5lbs in ten days and broken a six month plateau after a large loss just calorie counting.
if you want a bolt code I’m happy to share it

writingsonthewall · 07/08/2026 08:54

Thank you both. Weighing later in the day would likely be the answer as I’m typically a couple of lbs heavier then. Which one are you on socks? Is wegovy every day or once a week? And with MJ I’ve read you can take a lower dose to start with to get used to it, is that right please?

Wegovy or mounjaro injections are once a week. Wegovy tablets are once a day (though they're a bit of a faff from what I've heard, re rules about taking them, plus I think have higher risk of GI side effects. There is a thread about them if you're considering them)

Whichever drug you take you start with a low dose and then choose whether to increase depending on how well you respond and whether you have side effects.
Some people will take even lower than the starter dose, by buying extra needles and 'click counting' so they take half the dose at the start of the week and the other half midweek. It isn't advised by the prescribers though, but a lot do split doses like that (also as a way of making it cheaper, by taking smaller doses from a larger pen)

NB as far as I'm aware voy are the only people who will prescribe to start at BMI 25-27 without an additional medical condition. Bolt and Medexpress will for that BMI plus a medical condition. Others won't start you at that BMI, but do allow you to switch to them once you have an existing prescription, which can make it cheaper.

kljdslhs877 · 07/08/2026 09:04

@writingsonthewall I started with BMI 25.1, it was before pharmacies prescribed at that BMI so I did have to exaggerate my figures a little.

  1. I do get side effects, but mostly predictable and manageable (and they’ve lessoned as time goes on). If I eat and drink well I tend to be ok, but in the early days I’d just make sure I was at home for the 48 hour peak. Even now I will avoid jabbing 2 days before something important. Try and stay on a low dose, it’s cheaper and less likely to get extreme symptoms.
  2. 1-1.5stone isn’t a lot to lose, I’d be surprise if you got saggy from that kind of loss. I’ve lost about 22lb, I do have some very slight stretch marks on my thighs (from yoyo dieting in the past as well I think!) but honestly 2 stone isn’t that dramatic. I am starting to do strength training to tone up now though.
  3. tbh this one I can’t help. I’ve just decided to stay on it indefinitely. I will just let the weight creep back on if I stop taking it. Those of us with lower starting BMIs don’t have horrific diets, there’s not much we need to learn, we need to knock the bad habits on the head (which for me was snacking) and if that was so easy to do I’d have managed it without the jabs. So I’m splitting the dose from a larger pen every 8 weeks so it costs about £80 a month which for me is worth every penny to stop obsessing over my weight and diet.

I think the guidance is that it's only supposed to be out the fridge for 30 days (which is also roughly how long you use it for). So you would go over the time 'allowed' including the time you will use it for. Someone on another thread suggested a tomato puree box!

writingsonthewall · 07/08/2026 10:12

Thanks protein and klijds, that’s really helpful. Im
on holiday at the moment, being in a bikini is not enjoyable! I think I’ll order as soon as I get home, will likely have put on a lb or two then also so also works for that. My diet is pretty good and I run a lot, just impossible to shift any weight now. I drink too much wine which I understand this might help
also.

yes it was the only a few clicks thing I was thinking of when I said about a lower dose. Just thought it might help my body get used to it

Positivepositron · 08/08/2026 17:00

Can I just ask for people who started at BMI 25-26 how quickly did you lose weight and what type were you using?
Wondering how longish it tends to take to lose and which type is best.
Also anyone who is on the tablets are they small and easy to swallow?
Are they chalky or shiny?

I’m on MJ, mostly 2.5-3.75mg it’s taken me a good 6 months + to lose 20ish lb, about 25.1 to 21.3, I’m aiming for another few lbs to 20.8. I have done ZERO dieting though. Literally decided I’m doing this because I’m sick of thinking about what I’m eating. I’ve eaten what I’ve wanted, when I’ve wanted. Sometimes the suppression is high, sometimes I just seem to give into cravings more. I’ve no doubt if I’d dieted alongside it the weight would have dropped off in half the time.
