Morning all, I haven’t posted for ages but have been reading and keeping up with all your news, delighted to see so many successes and NSVs. Was debating whether or not to post as don’t want to come on here with any negativity but I am struggling so much with maintenance right now 😞.

I hit target in December, lost a bit more in January while moving down the doses and have maintained since then. Until now that is. Went down to 5mg and felt such a massive surge in appetite and started bingeing again. Was so disappointed in myself as I really thought I could just maintain my new habits and would never go back to how I was before. I was so wrong. After a while I felt like the MJ was no longer having any effect whatsoever so I tried going back up to higher dose a couple of times, but then binges kept happening. Got to the point where I felt I’d messed around with the doses and the time between jabs so much that I thought I’d be best to stop altogether and do a bit of a reset. So I’ve just come to the end of a month off MJ and I’ve gained a whole bloody stone so am now half a stone above target. I’m starting again now from the beginning, I took 2.5 yesterday and am planning to continue doing it properly, every week for 4 weeks and then going up to 5 again and seeing how I get on. Desperate to shift this stone before I put on anymore 🙈. Maintenance is so much harder than losing, and harder than I ever imagined it would be. Wish I could just eat normally and not have this urge to binge all the bloody time!

Thank you for sharing and well done for keeping going. I’m 12 1/2 stone down now, 6lbs off a healthy BMI and terrified of maintenance. None of us end up with over 10 stone to lose without serious issues around food and eating and I’m sure the vast majority will have yo-yoed up and down. That you’ve managed to pull back so soon is brilliant, really well done.

Sorry I've been MIA for a while.
I've been hit by a horrible virus.

I was wondering where you were! Hope you're recovering @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne. There is some nasty shit out there at the moment, seems to linger on for ages.

EverybodysALebowski · 05/06/2026 12:32

sorry to hear you're not well @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne ! take care

EverybodysALebowski · 05/06/2026 12:34

NSV: made it to the gym today for the first time since, well, a really long time. Survived and even had a good light workout.

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 05/06/2026 12:40

I think I've accepted I will never be able to eat 'normally', at least not for a long time or without support. Every so often I have a day where the brakes just come off and it scares me how easily that can happen. Luckily the MJ gets me straight back on track but I worry what would happen otherwise.

SilenceInside · 05/06/2026 16:07

I very much recognise what you are saying there, @RenegadeKeeblerElf I have never been a healthy weight for any sustained period of time as an adult, and a lot of my later childhood and teens I was overweight or obese too. I think it will take a good long time maintaining a healthy weight, several years probably, before I start to think that the effects of long term obesity might be fading. Thankfully we know have Mounjaro/Wegovy and the other upcoming GLP1s to help achieve that, so I feel for the first time that it's actually possible to get there.

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne I hope the virus is on it's way out and that you are feeling better soon.

A couple of NSVs for me. I took a bit of a risk ordering a size 12 dress from Vinted, as I'm a 12 on top but often 12 bottoms are too small. It's for an occasion that I'm attending in a few weeks that I didn't have anything suitable for. Well, it fits! Perfectly somehow. I cannot say how much my mind is blown by buying a size 12 dress and it fitting me. In July 2024 I was in XXL or size 24 but only in things that were loose fitting and stretchy so I could really have been a bigger size.

And second NSV, I just received delivery of some Hell Bunny dungarees, in a size S.... and they also fit! They are definitely snug, and they do have a bit of elastane and so stretch a little, but they are wearable and look fab. The Medium would have been too big for sure. I have never ever bought anything in a Small size in my life before! That is even more of a mind blowing experience.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 05/06/2026 16:31

Thank you everyone, I’ve had a much better day today with no binge urges. Going out for dinner tonight but it won’t be a disaster, the restaurant has plenty of healthier options and I’m feeling confident. I’m sure the MJ can’t be playing a part yet as I only took my first dose yesterday but maybe psychologically it’s helping.

@eibbed999 it was you that inspired my reset actually, I related so much to your earlier posts about how out of control you were feeling around food, and seeing that your reset seemed to be working inspired me to try and do the same. Fingers crossed it works for us both! 🤞

I wouldn't discount the effect of the MJ - I definitely had effects from the day after my very first dose. The impact of a reset can be impressive.

AlicesMum2025 · 05/06/2026 21:06

Just popping in to share something mind-blowing.

If any of you are gym-goers I highly encourage you to load up a barbell with the amount of weight you've lost and then lift it. It really brings it home just how far you've come.

I've been a bit down about my losses recently but today in the gym I did two exercises at 60kg, which is the amount I've lost so far, and it's really bloody heavy!

Farmers carry - 30kg dumbbell in each hand, walking the length of the gym and back.
Good morning - 60kg barbell on my back then bend over to 90 degrees and back upright x8

To think I used to carry that weight around on my body 24/7, 365 days a year! No wonder my mobility was starting to become affected.

Anyway, that's going to keep me motivated for the next little while 💪🏋️‍♀️

user593 · 05/06/2026 21:14

@AlicesMum2025 I do something similar but imagine my children as weights 😅 I’ve lost over 3x my 2 year old or 2x my 5 year old (both who feel incredibly heavy to carry nowadays!).

I've lost about what my 18 year old weighs! (She did NOT inherit my metabolism and has a BMI of 18.4 so not quite as impressive as it sounds!)

user593 · 05/06/2026 21:39

@RenegadeKeeblerElf Thats amazing! Imagine carrying her around all day! 😅

It's crazy isn't it? There's now way I could do that, but somehow when it is fat distributed around the body it's possible at least, if not easy!

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 06/06/2026 07:13

So last week I remember posting about how hot weather impacts on fluid retention and suggested that we might get a whoosh when it cools down. Well, it's definitely cooled down here, and I've lost 1.7kg 😮 I'm really surprised as although I've still been in a deficit, I've definitely loosened the reins a little bit this week. I can't work out if it's a good thing that I can relax a little as it will help with whatever the opposite of disordered eating is, or if it is a slippery slope to my old habits. Anyway, for now I'm just going to keep on keeping on and seeing what happens.

I’ve definitely had a whoosh this week. My results had slowed down so much I ordered 7.5mg (the next pen up) but this week without having started the 7.5mg (or done anything very differently) I’ve lost 2.5kg/ 5.5lbs.

I dropped 0.5kg after my first gym session (reformer pilates). I assume it’s a coincidence but haven’t been able to test it as I had to cancel my second class to take DC to A&E (he’s fine now).

PositiveAttitude · 06/06/2026 08:34

Well done all you losers!! Some amazing results and NSVs here. You are all so inspirational.

I hope you feel fully well soon @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne

Welcome to new people. You have joined the best group of mumsnetters.

I hope you are seeing an improvement in all aspects of your life @PearlsTeapot

My scales have shown me a 14 this morning!!! 14stone, 12.8lb to be exact!! I am happy with that.

Thanks! Happy to have found people on a similar journey 😊
I’m sitting at the 28 stone mark, and am 6”2 and in my 30’s so I tried a couple with those stats and they all seemed to concur - but it feels an awful lot!

Hi, I started 2 months ago this coming Monday and I'm ft 8 and a half.

I was 28.8, I was 26.12 this monday just gone. We can do it! ❤️ Welcome!

I also have a higher calorie count at 2391 at the moment but it's only very rarely I get to the limit, intend to hit 1900 to 2100 by concentrating on protein and calcium etc and higher calorie items or the odd ready meal as my caring responsibilities are very painful at this weight and knackered body so sometimes making something for me is that little bit extra I don't have the energy for. It's becoming easier as I size down though as is getting that little bit more active too. Be kind to yourself ❤️

mounjaroatlast · 06/06/2026 10:15

I am just starting my 2nd 5mg pen but I feel like its not working as well. I told the nurse a couple of weeks ago I would stay on 5 as I felt it was working, but now wish I had gone up to 7.5.

If I rang the GP, would they be able to prescribe a 2.5 to go with it, and would I be able to do 2 jabs to get the 7.5? I don't want to waste the pen.

Is it an old style pen with 5 doses? If so you could do 75 clicks and use the 5 doses over 4 weeks to give yourself 6.25mg, then go up to 7.5 on the next pen.

MoneyJo · 06/06/2026 10:26

How much less do you feel it is working @mounjaroatlast ? I am on my 2nd 5 pen and already have my next pen which is 5 too. It's not working like it did at first but it is still making a difference so I decided to stick so that I can work on my habits while not having it all done for me by the pen, if that makes sense.

SilenceInside · 06/06/2026 10:28

@mounjaroatlastthere are very few of us who are being prescribed by the NHS, I think that most of us on this thread get private prescriptions and so don’t have any experience of NHS weight loss prescribing. I think the NHS are unlikely to go against the prescribing guidelines and would probably just say that you have e to finish the pen as prescribed.

I think @RenegadeKeeblerElf has a good suggestion on how to increase your dose before the next pen is due.

mounjaroatlast · 06/06/2026 10:30

I have been able to resist the snacking, but the last couple of nights, I have eaten more than I should. I was able to eat a few sweets in a portion , so say 7 Randoms or whatever the glucopal app says, and leave it at that, but last night I ate loads of maltesers. I was telling myself, you don't need it, you don't want it, yet still ate them, whereas before I didn't even want them. The jab does wear off more towards the end of week I know. When I first started the jabe on 2.5 I felt full all the time and didn't want to eat anything in the evenings.

I suppose its because I am putting weight back on again that I feel it really isn't working.

mounjaroatlast · 06/06/2026 10:32

I just wish I had asked to go up, the nurse asked what I wanted to do. I did 2.5 for one month then went up to 5 and could have gone up to 7.5, but I keep reading how people are still losing on 5 so thought I would stay on it a bit longer.

I will have to ask the nurse and see what she says. I don't want to spend the next 4 weeks putting weight back on after suffering all those side effects because I was losing weight. I am changing my eating habits and really trying with the willpower, but it is so hard some days.

SilenceInside · 06/06/2026 10:44

@mounjaroatlast if you’re putting weight on then I think you could definitely contact the nurse and tell them that and ask what you should do. Raise the idea of getting a 7.5mg pen now and moving to it immediately. You can only ask and see what they say. Otherwise I would definitely try doing a slightly higher dose from your current pen - if you are happy to try that and you have the old style pen that has enough leftover medication for another full dose and a bit.
