Are you taking biotin/ multivitamins?

I have been from the start, have gone from 14 st 5 to 10 st 7 since Jan and haven’t lost any more hair than usual. My DH has, but he doesn’t take supplements (he has them, just doesn’t take them!). I’m taking a multivitamin/ minerals plus a biotin supplement.

The only time I lost a lot of hair was a couple of years ago when it turned out my ferritin levels were very low (10. They still are, in the 20s, but that’s another story)

CatNoBag · 25/06/2026 10:54

@FrothyCothy I'm the same with normally very thick and hot hair, so far I don't think it's too noticeable to others that there's less of it, but every time I wash my hair there's a lot more than usual, and it's all over the house too 😳

@thefluffycat I'm taking Biotin and Collagen. I have Biotin at quite a high dose, hadn't really taken note of it and switched whilst I was away for a month to one from Boots that I happened to have and I think that's when the shedding started. I've gone back to the high dose and hoping that helps. I've seen some recommend an oil or something that you put on your scalp, so I might look into that too. Worth checking iron/ferratin as I don't eat a lot of red meat and less spinach lately, but I've had blood tests recently and everything looked to be at healthy levels in that respect. I need to get them repeated soon (I have a feeble kidney that needs monitoring), so I'll look a bit more closely at the results.

Weekly update.

I've lost a pound today and am 13 st 4 lbs. This officially puts me into the overweight BMI. I can't believe that I'm not 'obese' anymore.

I've tried so many diets, healthy eating changes, exercise routines over the last few decades and everyone has failed. I just couldn't keep it up consistently and always felt like a failure.

This medication has changed my life in 6 months. It proves to me that it wasn't a moral failure that I was fat, it was my hormones.

The other health benefits are amazing as well. I ran for the bus a few weeks ago and it felt so easy. My blood pressure is amazing now. In the past my blood pressure was always on the high side even when I was thinner. It's never been this good. My joints feel better and my IBS has virtually disappeared.

FrothyCothy · 25/06/2026 12:51

I am sporadic at best with supplements. From what I’ve read there’s not a huge amount I can do for telogen effluvium and it will generally resolve itself in time. I can see I have loads of regrowth around the top of my head (basically a massive fuzzball at the mo) so I’m not concerned that it won’t come back. My hair is quite thick and long and I don’t brush it between showers so I think the loss can often look worse than it is.

It’s definitely worth looking at the results yourself as the NHS have told me my ferritin is now fine at 22/23 but it really isn’t - they just have a very low threshold!

Luckily I also have very thick hair so my hair loss due to it wasn’t noticeable to others, but a lot came out!

DontEatTheMushies · 25/06/2026 15:49

Absolutely stagnant weight loss.
I was on 15mg, but it did nothing so I have gone right back down to 5mg - which weirdly does work , though not as well as it when when I moved up to 5mg.

7.6KG lost since 1/1/26.

It is probably my lack of movement (40hr a week sat on arse office job) and then all the driving I do with the kids. Other than cancelling their hobbies or quitting my job, I am struggling to add in more movement, and at 1700TDEE, so a 1200 daily cals I am not sure I can go lower and function with my autoimmune conditions. My body is very angry as it is.

It is all a bit deflating. Especially seeing people lighter than my 101kg dropping weigh like a hot tray.

I actually think my metabolism is kaput.

glutenisthedevil · 25/06/2026 20:05

@CatNoBag nice to see you back on the thread and well done on managing to lose despite the chaos!
I was the same; happy to take a lower dose and have a slower loss to try and keep some of the side effects at bay. I thought I was getting away with the hair loss as it had been 5 months before it started shedding. I take multivitamins, magnesium, zinc, biotin, selenium and collagen, some of them for a while because of peri menopause. I guess if it's going to happen, it's going to happen!
I'm 4 days past what should've been injection day and I'm coping well. Still no real food noise, but I might dose again this weekend as I'm afraid that the medication will leave my system and open me up to symptoms again if I leave it too long.

goldylock · 25/06/2026 20:53

Bombs away on my 4th dose of 1.7 mg WG.

I am still not sure if to move up to the 2.5 mg dose WG. I don't have any appetite supression. But am losing 1 pound every 2 weeks or so. Just very very, very slow. Also, 2.5 mg is the last dose of WG. Nowhere to go from there!

SW 14 stone.
CW 12, 12. I have not weighed myself in a week and will leave it until Monday morning to weight, as I am unfort a person who retains/swells in the heat. I am continually playing tennis and drink lots of water. Played 2 hours there. Can really feel the weight loss helping on court.

goldylock · 25/06/2026 20:57

BTW, here is a story on how mad the body is....

A woman in the tennis club told me recently she had been diagnosed with non alcoholic fatty liver. Was caught in a routine blood test. She is a fit woman. Carries a little weight around the mid section, like us all shur.

She figured out what was causing the problem...every morning she was having freshly squeezed orange juice. The orange juice was converting to furtose/sugar immediately and being stored by the liver.

She stopped drinking the orange juice 4 weeks ago and lost 3 kilos...

So, in her thinking she was being healthy, she was not. The mind boggles.

Morning - still the same bloody weight for the past 4 weeks!! Up until then, I was so happy losing 16kg in 5 months, felt steady and healthy.

But no change in a month feels intolerable, one for the cost and two for the feeling of making compromises.

No idea what to do about the plateau. I already went up to 10mg which felt awful so I’m back down to 7.5mg.

The only difference is that I haven’t been eating much protein in June (change to working pattern since end May), so I’ll have to overhaul diet 🙈🫤

BeWildPearlFish · 26/06/2026 12:36

I just got my first 5mg pen delivered, and its the new style so no extra medication forthe golden dose. Rage.

I'm going to stay on 3.75 and count clicks so it'll still give me 5 doses, but I do feel shortchanged

7.5mg pens are still the old style so you could go up next month and get even more doses out of one pen.

I feel like we have had the identical journey! I just had my 4th week same weight after such good progress. Took my first 10mg jab today so hoping that makes the difference. So frustrating!

Oh amazing! Great thinking, is it only the 5mg pens that have changed so far?

GreenLemonade · 26/06/2026 22:48

@BeWildPearlFish i guess they will all change eventually but I just got an old style 7.5mg yesterday, while DH got the new style 5mg a couple of weeks ago.

FrostyFlo · 28/06/2026 08:10

For those that started in Jan ( this is wk. 25 for me ) so most of us are around the 6 month mark . How much have you lost ?
It's 46lb for me and I've easily got the same still to go .
How much have you still to go ? and those at target how are you doing ?

thefluffycat · 28/06/2026 09:06

54lbs.

Start weight was 14 stone 5.
I’m just over half a stone away from my target (current weight 10 stone 7 at 5’6” tall).

Lovingtheglitter · 28/06/2026 09:11

I am week 24 and have lost 47lbs to date. I want to lose another 33lbs. Sometimes I feel like I have lost an amazing amount of weight- which I have - but I feel I have such a long way to go.

Perianth · 28/06/2026 09:13

@BeWildPearlFish I share your rage! Just whipped my new pen out of the fridge and noticed it’s a new style one! 😫That might be enough to tempt me to move to 7.5. I’m still losing a lb or two each week (apart from last week when I lost nothing) but have a little more food noise than before. Suppose I could change my order but just click count to continue taking 5.

Happy the weather is cooler this week and I can get back to longer walks.

I’m only 1lb off a 4 stone loss now, so 55lbs for me @FrostyFlo and I have about 28lbs to go to my original target weight. I can see a huge difference, but at the same time I can see I still have a significant amount to lose, mostly on my stomach and thighs.

8books · 28/06/2026 09:51

@FrostyFlo - I started on 28th December and lost 35lbs, which was good at the 5 month mark, but I’ve had zero weight loss for past 4 weeks!! It’s just miserable!!

SW 12st 11lbs
CW 10st 4lbs
GW 9st 6lbs
5’7”

I really want to get at least 7lbs off by the end of July!! I think I’m going to buy a walking pad as I probably need cardio as well as the weights 🤦🏼‍♀️

glutenisthedevil · 28/06/2026 10:19

50lbs off for me. Started at the beginning of January weighing 16 stone 6. I now weigh 12 stone 11 and would like to lose another 32lbs to get to 10 stone 7, though I may stop at 11 stone - will see how I feel when I eventually get there.

HollywoodTease · 28/06/2026 10:27

I'm around 40lbs lost since mid-Jan but I didn't weigh last week due to being away on my motorhome so I'll have a figure on Tuesday when I get home.

Started at 15-10 and last weigh-in was 12-11 but I'm only 5'1 so still a long way to go. At least another 50lbs needs to come off to reach a healthy weight apparently.

However, I have broken my goals into bite-size chunks so it's about a stone to my next one, which will see me having lost 30% of my starting weight 🙂

I look better and I feel better, biggest challenge for me though is have I improved my pesky hba1c? I'll find out in a couple more weeks, watch this space......

notcomfortable · 28/06/2026 10:34

Oh my goodness i have not been on here in so long! I have gone cold turkey, been 2 weeks since my last injection of 7.5
Have maintained my weight so I think I might continue on like this

Congratulations to everyone .

bookwormcrazy · 28/06/2026 18:16

Hi everyone! So pleased to hear about how well everyone is doing.

I have lost 3 st which is amazing, especially as things have been so up in the air this year. It has definitely not gone to plan. Unfortunately it’s about to get even worse so I will probably be just using up the pens I have and then miserably put on all the weight I have lost by comfort eating and drowning my sorrows. I can’t be on a diet watching what I eat while I am trying to make the best of the time left my husband has.

sorry to bring down the tone of the thread. I will be watching though to see you all achieve your goals. 🥰
