New thread 😀 in the nick of time

So I tried on a padded winter coat today in Outdoorcotswold and it was 40% off .
Tried 2 sizes down from my usual and it fitted fine , then tried the next size down and that was ok as well but obviously tighter ( you would have to undo it if you were sitting down .
I walked away from buying one although I really liked them as I hopefully will be at least another size down .
What would you have done ?

I probably would have bought the one that fitted now if i needed it, but I like my winter coats and jackets big so I can put them on over warm jumpers. I am reluctant to buy much in terms of new clothes though until I have settled at any weight for a good year. As much as I dont want it to happen, im aware lots of people put some or lots of weight back on after the initial loss, and I dont want to be stuck with a wardrobe full of new clothes mocking me

bookwormcrazy · 18/05/2026 17:56

I am the same, I haven’t purchased any new clothes yet and am almost scared to try and see what size I am. Most of what I have is still wearable even if it does look a bit oversized sometimes, but I think I will need to buy a new belt as I am on the smallest whole.

I wouldn't buy either. I would wait until I actually needed a winter coat and then buy one that fits.

I would have left it
Tbh the sad truth is, some of us will put the weight back on and tenfold so you might be a different size by the time you really need it (please don't come for me)

Thanks for your replies . Good my thought about it was matched everyone's on here , although I did come home and look it up online !

FrothyCothy · 18/05/2026 18:29

I’ve had to buy some stuff as we’re going on hols - size 18s are hanging off my top half but 16s still too snug around the middle so went for 18s but tried not to buy too much!

Ralphiesaurus · 18/05/2026 19:45

I'm gradually working my way back down through my wardrobe from when I lost weight on SW and managed to keep it off for a couple of years. Have bought a couple of bits but mainly feeling v cheery about being able to fit back in things I haven't worn in a long time. I did so well with maintenance for AGES but then carbs found me 🙄... and here I am. I find myself wondering if I'll be one of the people who needs to microdose MJ long term just to not rebound...

Still avoiding the scales after plateau-gate last month and the general weirdness of my losing-weight-in-chunks thing...!?! I find if it's static I start getting disgruntled... but I will weigh when I do my next injection on Wednesday. It's interesting how varied our losses are - but I have to keep telling myself it's not a competition and it's going in the right direction, even if a bit slower than for some.

GreenLemonade · 18/05/2026 20:43

I bought a new capsule wardrobe for the summer because I have three holidays coming up and nothing to wear. My old clothes were making feel say and ugly, I'm done wearing leggings and oversized t shirts.

I tried to choose things that would accommodate weight changes, both up and down. Wide legged trousers with elasticated waist, tops with shirring or in ribbed fabric, dresses with belts, that kind of stuff.

It was madly satisfying to buy clothes in size 12😁

I also got new bras and was surprised to discover I went down band size but not cup size. I realise 32FF is a smaller cup volume than 34FF but still.

8books · 18/05/2026 21:16

I’ve bought loads of clothes for our summer hols. But it’s so bloody cold at the moment, I don’t want to strip off in order to try them all on 😂

Is anyone else absolutely freezing all the time??! 🥶

Yeah really freezing, especially the few days after the jab.

Springflowers3 · 18/05/2026 22:33

I’m definitely feeling colder than I used to, in between the hot flushes. I know it’s been quite chilly recently but I’ve been wearing a jumper and socks in bed which I never do.

Having a bit of a frustrating plateau at the moment. Trying not to get too disheartened as clothes are much looser on and I comfortably fit size 14 jeans I haven’t worn for ages. My legs feel slimmer - when I’ve lost weight in the past it was usually my top half that was more noticeable, never my legs. I like this.

bec81 · 18/05/2026 23:16

I've really stopped thinking about being on wli. Ive stopped logging my food, generally settled on one of a handful of low cal high protein lunch options, a smaller but not tiny portion of whatever were having for dinner, no snacks usually, and a few glasses of wine at the weekend. I never ate before 2 or 3pm, so 2 meals works for me. It all feels very easy. Im excersing well but not as regimented as i had been. Im plodding away slowly, have had a few weeks of very small losses, but still going in the right direction, I guess. Im still a good 6-8kg off what I thought my target was (originally i thought 58-60kg, but really i picked that out of the air).

But I have barely had a conversation over the last few weeks where my weight hasnt been commented on so im starting to think im approaching enough. My 9 year old asked me the other day why everyone keeps talking about my weight. I really don't want that on their radar. Anyone else feel this way? Id imagine ill continue on maintenance for a few months at least anyway. But I dont think im quite there yet. I started at 81.5kg, now at 66 ish. Ill see how 64-63 feels if i get there, and consider stopping i think.

HollywoodTease · 18/05/2026 23:19

I have cold hands and feet all the time now, and the excessive sweating I've been plagued with since I started menopause nearly 10 years ago has pretty much gone away.

Another "side effect" that I have only just realised is that for many years I have intermittently suffered what I assume was carpal tunnel - I would get a shooting pain from my hand up through my left hand into my wrist and my index finger would cramp into a claw. Not a regular thing and not bad enough to see my doc, painful and debilitating when it happened (would also not be able to grip) but only maybe 2-3 times a month. Hasn't happened since I started the jabs.

HollywoodTease · 19/05/2026 10:30

Jab #18 and after another weekend away involving some drinking I have maintained again 🫤

I thought I could get away with the odd one or two here and there but it appears not.

I've also been feeling some hunger this past week or so.

I have one golden dose and another 5mg pen in the fridge, I think I'm going to move up to 7.5 for my next order.

CatNoBag · 19/05/2026 13:32

I've been missing from here lately! Spent the last month and a bit travelling, doing some life admin, seeing family etc after living like a hermit for 3 months! I more or less stuck to the routine for the first two weeks away, but then gave myself some grace for a few weeks and skipped a couple of jabs (I ran a marathon halfway through, so my body needed some R&R!). I was pleased to see that after six weeks away from home, I've come back a pound lighter. I was expecting possibly a 2lb gain (based on the opportunities I had to weigh myself whilst away), so I'm delighted with that. I was exercising less and having treats, but walking and generally moving a LOT more than I normally do outside of that, so I guess that's helped keep things steady.

I'm getting back to my usual day to day now with diet and exercise. A bit of a slow restart but I'll hopefully have my routine back to normal by the end of this week. I'm still counting 40 clicks on a 5mg pen, but might go up to the full 5mg soon. I'll see how it goes over the next week or two. In an ideal world, I'd like to get down to 11st something by the end of June, which is ~8lbs away. I haven't seen 11st on the scales for a good few years, so that's a big target for me. Last time I was there I was in the shape of my life, but definitely still had room to improve, so I'm excited to see what I can achieve if I get there again (albeit with more grey hairs and fully menopausal!). I'd stopped eating sweet treats (cakes, biscuits etc, still having fruit and natural sugars) up until my marathon run, and think I might go back to that for a bit as I don't miss it once I've gotten it out of my system and it's one less thing to try and account for in my calories.

Anyway, checking back in with my stats!

Plateau this week. I don’t think I’m eating enough. I now have an alarm at 12:15pm each day to remember to eat lunch.

Always a bit disappointing when the scales don’t change. On the positive side, it’s mind boggling that I’ve lost 31lbs in 20 weeks, without any effort or struggle! MJ is literally magic.

Seeing 10st 8lbs on the scales is nice. Also, I can see cheekbones emerging 😂

CatNoBag · 19/05/2026 15:30

Thanks @bec81 - I used to run long distance races semi regularly, but then lockdown, bad health and injuries got in the way. I'm excited to get back in shape again and hopefully take a bit less time to drag myself around a running route with less of me to carry. I was despairing at ever getting back to where I was as no matter how hard I tried the weight wasn't budging. Still a long way off my best times for all distances, but chipping away at it now I'm that bit lighter!

In the 170s this morning and tantalisingly close to a 4 stone loss!

2 Jan SW 16st 9
CW 12 st 10.5

Normal BMI is 11 st 5 (I’m 5ft 7) so 1 st 5 to go - I would never have thought at the start January that would be possible within 6/7 months

FrothyCothy · 19/05/2026 20:46

Am not enjoying 1mg Wegovy much - finding I don’t have much in the way of suppression so am hungry, or thinking about food more, while at the same time feeling nauseous if I don’t eat and overly full for hours if I do. And tonight added dreaded sulphur burps into the mix. Have been stuck around the same weight for the last month as well. We’re away next week and I’m not going to jab before we go, thinking a bit of a diet break and reset might help me refocus for the summer on my return.

ThisAmusedPoet · 20/05/2026 06:21

Hi all
Been a bit absent the past few weeks! Busy work, a weekend away and some really stressful times. I’ve basically been bouncing around the same few lbs. but this week I got back on it a bit more seriously and I’ve lost again.
I’ve found 7.5mg a bit tricky in terms of side effects. Nothing debilitating but just more constipation and bloating. A good reminder also that water really helps. Reading around people’s experiences on the internet, I might do better if I go up to 10mg. I’ve got another 5 weeks of 7.5 though so still a ways from that decision. 10mg seems so big!
I’ve also entered the weight band where I always found it hardest to lose more. Here I look much better but I am still overweight bmi. I’d like to be well into that “normal” band so still aiming to lose a good 5kg more at least. But it feels so so hard for my body to shed those last few. It clings so stubbornly and my willpower/motivation is not so good! Let’s see if MJ can help!

Still very chuffed to have lost almost 19kg/over 41lbs since January! That’s crazy.

SW 1/1/26 - 93.3kg
Jan (2.5mg) 86.5kg -6.8kg
Feb (5mg) 82.5kg -4kg
March (5mg) 79.4kg -3.2kg
April (7.5mg) 75.6kg -3.8kg
MJ20 (7.5mg) 20/5/26 - 74.5kg -1.1kg

GW: 68kg
Total loss: -18.8kg

HollywoodTease · 20/05/2026 10:56

Thinking out loud. I took my latest jab yesterday.

I have 5x5mg left.

If I do 2.5mg from my golden dose today (I break the pen and click to 1 to get it out usually) I could then do 7.5mg by counting clicks for the next 3 weeks by which time I will have ordered a new 7.5mg pen anyway.

Or do I stick with 5, use willpower to curb my appetite and just see what happens?

I am away again for the next 2 consecutive weekends, but have decided that I won't be drinking this time to see if (as I suspect) it's those empty calories and potential extra carbs that are causing me to plateau.

🤔🤔

Surprised to see a fairly big loss on the scales this morning. Have been hovering around 66.8 - 66.6kg for the last few weeks. Jumped on the scales this morning to find myself down to 65.5kg. I did increase to 1mg this week, but have been drinking more wine and going back for seconds more than I had been in previous weeks, and doing some, but certainly less, excersise.

Part of the reason I don't really drink these days is just that - to lose weight I need to account for every calorie I consume and get as much bang for my buck as possible. Alcohol just doesn't tick that box (same with cakes etc). I'm not a big drinker anyway, so it isn't a huge challenge and I'm positively hammered if I have any more than 2 glasses of wine these days, plus it seems to set off my hot flushes a lot more and disturb my sleep. All in all, it isn't difficult to talk myself out of it!
