Can someone have a word with me please? I joined this thread, but STILL have not started the meds. I have probably put on another couple of kilos as a result. I'm just so scared of the side effects and I know I'm being a big baby.

Any words of wisdom for an other thinker?

what is it that you are worried about?
Maybe we can reassure you.

what side effects particularly, because most people really dont seem to be experiencing much more than you could get in a standard month anyway, especially if you dont have the greatest diet. And most side effects have workarounds.

Bloating? Ive had far less than I used to when I ate wheat based products or sugary stuff.
Diahorreah - likewise, theree would normally be 2 or 3 days a week I was worried about my IBS, but I havent had to worry about going out/ needing a loo suddenly for 5 weeks now and its been liberating!
Constipation - yes I had 2 days when I didnt go, but the 1 kiwi fruit a day seems to have knocked me back into a regular mode.
Heartburn / acid indigestion - rennies/ gaviston/peppermint tea. dont eat so late at night.
Headaches - drink more water and take some paracetamol.
Stomach ache - again I had this a couple of times and a slightly broken night. However compared to my previous IBS it was nothing. And it was connected to the constipation. Ibruprofen helped.

Tiredness - I have not experienced this (yet) apart from the 2 days I had the constipation and stomach ache. but 2 days in 5 weeks isnt something I would get worked up about.

My main issue is being a bit farty and burpy on the day of/day after the injection.

I was mostly scared of the actual injection, but it was nothing. I felt silly afterwards. I use mine straight from the fridge so I can eek extra doses.

Its OK to be scared, but maybe our experiences can help

Scrabsqueak · 24/05/2026 12:47

4 jabs at 2.5. Lost half a stone which is not as good as some of you, but I’ve settled to it now. Still great suppression and lots of other noise reduced. Jab 5 due tomorrow. Have put all my previous jabs in stomach, so left right upper and lower. Do I need to change site next time? Eg into thigh? Am quite comfortable with using my stomach and would like to carry on using that site?

3oldladiesstuckinalavatory · 24/05/2026 12:50

Thank you NettleTea. I don't know what I'm worried about. Side effects? Putting something I don't understand the long term effects of directly into my body, all by myself maybe.
I think if the GP had prescribed it, I would be okay. But I ordered it myself.
I am very obese - too obese to weigh myself, but the last time I did over a month ago I was well over a BMI of 33. I have problems with my knees and mobility generally and I'm very scared of that too.
I've got myself into a bit of a pickle!

Scrabsqueak · 24/05/2026 12:54

@3oldladiesstuckinalavatory , I had my pen for about 2 weeks before I plucked up courage to use it. I could not put my finger on what I was scared about, I was just scared, of the unknown I suppose. As so many people have said if you search back on this topic, just wish I had started sooner!
The lowest dose where you start is really quite gentle for side effects in general I believe, certainly has been for me, but it does produce results. Good luck!

3oldladiesstuckinalavatory · 24/05/2026 12:57

Thank you Scrabsqueek.

I also think I'm a bit scared of losing the weight. This is dead weight, which has made my life miserable for the last six years, but in some ways I think it's protected me from facing up to some uncomfortable other issues with my life. All my focus has been on being fat and hating myself for it.

I don't know how I will be when I've stopped binge eating to distract myself from all the other stuff.

I'm not sure if anyone else can relate? I've had years and years of therapy, and still don't know how to stop eating. If this works, what will I even be, in my own head? Will I hate myself for something else? I don't know.

Thepinkwave · 24/05/2026 18:39

I did jab number 7 (2.5mg) on Thursday, two days ago. I decided to change place of injection so I did my leg instead of stomach. Never again, I do not think it is working as well as I get on the stomach.
As per weight, I am going slowly, very slowly, 6kg in 6weeks, never mind, I have never ever been able to stick to a diet so I will take this any day of my life haha!
If I continue like this, next week I will stop being obese and only classed as overweight, which I have not been for at least 18 years, before my first pregnancy. Wish me luck! Hahah

3oldladiesstuckinalavatory · 24/05/2026 20:17

I've just done it. I grabbed and jabbed. I think I probably need to see if there's a May starters thread 😁

Does anyone else have rosacea? I do and I have noticed a reduction in redness the last week or so. That’s a nice bonus side effect:)

mounjaroatlast · 24/05/2026 21:18

5 jabs so far and 7kg off. Still have bad diarrhoea but coping with it. It just means if I have to leave the house, I can’t eat until I get home

MyGardenDaisies · 25/05/2026 08:10

Morning! Happy Monday!

Just took 7th jab. Haven’t checked my weight in a couple of days as I’ve been running on 6h sleep and got a cold, so feeling bloated and knackered.

This week’s goal is to eat more vegetables and fibre, and drink more water. It’s PMS territory so will see if 5mg help with the appetite more than 2.5mg did last month.

Should have taken my 5th dose this weekend but unfortunately my Mounjaro journey is having to take a break for the moment. I was admitted to hospital in the early hours of Saturday morning with acute pancreatitis. No idea as to what has caused this but have been advised to not go back on just yet until I have had some more scans. Have been put on a low fat diet which I am following.

I've lost 8lbs which I am happy with

I'll keep popping in to see how you are all doing

mounjaroatlast · 25/05/2026 12:02

Mounjaro can cause pancreatitis, but the nurse told me it was rare, so sounds like you have been unlucky. I hope you feel better soon.

The hospital said it is rare and they are keeping an open mind on it but have suggested that I don't continue for the moment

I am uncomfortable again today will see how I am tomorrow as I can contact the hospital department for 5 days otherwise back to the useless GP surgery

Cocachanel · 25/05/2026 15:48

@Purplebunnie I'm so sorry to hear this - Pancreatitis can be absolutely excruciating. Definitely ask them to investigate as much as possible whole you are there - much harder once you've left hospital.

Oh dear, sorry to hear this. Hope they get to the bottom of the cause for you. Take care x

Sorry about hay!!! Hope you recover soon.
if I can ask… What BMI do you currently have? Have you been adhering to the correct dosage as per instructions (eg not messing around with clicks)

BMI is now 39 and no absolutely not messing around with the clicks. The pen looks as if it has enough for another dose of 2.5.

It may not be the Mounjaro it may be something else that has caused it but I'm taking the consultants advice and not continuing. I'm not blaming the Mounjaro

pomegranatepie · 25/05/2026 20:14

Hope you feel better soon @Purplebunnie, pancreatitis can be horrendous.

I skipped my jab last night, as we were camping, and today was the first time I have felt properly hungry for ages. So I realise the 2.5 is actually still having a good affect on me, and am going to give it another week.

Purplebunnie · 25/05/2026 20:31

@pomegranatepie I was supposed to have my fifth dose on Saturday. I can tell you now I'm not eating hospital food my appetite has come back.

MyGardenDaisies · 26/05/2026 07:55

@Purplebunnie sorry to hear that, hope you recover soon!

Morning everyone!

Up 0.9kg from last week and I know it’s just constipation, inflammation and absolute lack of sleep, as I’ve been in the same deficit and kept activity same too.

Anyone else struggling with the heat? Home is so hot I’ve slept 5h last few nights and feel so swollen and full 🫠

NettleTea · 26/05/2026 08:25

Ive not slept too badly, but was working yesterday in the heat, drank loads of water, did alot of poo-ing after the constipation, and my weight hasnt changed one bit this morning since Sundays weigh in. Which is the same as last weeks Sunday weigh in. I got my new pen last week, which they gave me the 2.5mg again, as said I was still losing weight, but we shall see. Im tracking everything and weighing everything, just to try to ensure I can recognise what a normal portion ought to be looking like. I am sure things will change but every time I went to the loo yesterday I was thinking 'yay, there goes that hold up!' sorry about the TMI

thinkofsomethingdifferent · 26/05/2026 23:23

Today was supposed to be golden dose day for me on the 5 but my mum wanted to go out for a curry for her birthday. Knowing this would make me soooo ill, I’ve delayed my jab until tomorrow. 1lb down this week, total loss after 10 weeks is 19lbs.

custardlover · 26/05/2026 23:41

I’m finding the heat a misery and I’m sure it’s making me hold on to water! Trying to drink loads but I am also blocked up so to speak. I hope it all flushes away together in a dramatic loss!

EducatingEater · 27/05/2026 06:50

Hope everyone is managing well at the moment. I'm trying to take in as much water as possible at the moment and I'm getting through a good couple of litres of not a bit more since Monday morning which is much more than I normally would.

However I know it's not enough still because I'm barely weeing in the way that I would be of I were doing the same at home (away for the week). I'm also only eating one meal of solid food these past couple of days because of the heat too and it's not like the normal amount.

My knees are absolutely killing me too as they often do here due to the furniture (I dont get on with their settee) and my feet were very swollen already when I tried to put my shoes on on mondsu to leave the house so assuming I'm retaining the water too.

Ho hum. Monday saw just under 4lb off after a 2 week maintain so still happy.

Hope all are OK
