Hi starting mounjaro this week is there a thread already set up I can join?

Having stuck at 2.5 for my 2nd pen, im now regretting it as definitely no suppression. Can anyone advise how to extract 3.75 from a 2.5 pen please as I think that's what ill do for jabs 6 and 7 before starting the 5 pen (still at 3.75). I've got the syringe etc but im not sure how to prime the pen , or even if I need to? I've only had 1 x 0.6 dose out of this pen. I hope all that makes sense!

Hi, inject 2.5, and then when moves back to zero prime again and turn the pen dial for 30 clicks and inject that (which is a half dose). When you inject it will return to zero so just repeat (a whole dose then a half dose).

Thanks, so it's ok to do 2 injections straight after tge other? I thought id have to inject 0.9 in one go? And will that then impact on remaining doses, if it only holds 4 doses and im using 2 jabs per week?

anchoviesanchovies · 21/05/2026 12:44

@pomegranatepie sorry you're going through that, I hope your mum is recovering well.

I put half a pound on last week which was no surprise as I weighed Sunday evening after a girls weekend away involving a fair amount of alcohol plus I had 3 meals out last week.

I definitely ate less than I would have done on those meals but it's scary how quickly the calories add up! Thank god for nutracheck as my idea of portion size is clearly all over the place! Even things like the amount of cheese I would normally add to a cheese omelette is about 3 times a "large portion"!

I've been weighing in daily this week (bad I know) just to check my weight is starting to go down again which it is. Think I'm now around 18 pounds off in 4.5 weeks.

Started 5mg properly last week, suppression is already wearing off but I'm still finding it fairly easy to stick to healthy options and not snack. Weirdly I still have very little desire for alcohol (although if I start drinking, as I did at the weekend, I can happily carry on). No side effects on 5. Have a feeling I may have to go up to 7.5 next month which I really wanted to avoid.

I can’t see that it would make a difference if done close together. Effectively you’d be taking 1.5 doses. Maybe check with your provider though if you’re not sure. There are examples of providers advising to up or reduce a dose this way.

@NettleTea very surprised to find that a daily kiwi has made a significant difference for me.
I understand that a day in the rhythm of the bowel is around 3-4 of our days, so it may take a little while to take effect, but after 4 weeks of feeling heavy & uncomfortable, I'm suddenly back to regularity!
Maybe coincidentally, my sleep has also regularised. Back to deep sleep & rem & fewer night wakenings.

Ive had my daily kiwi and a few soft prunes thrown in for good measure in my breakfast yoghurt. hopefully we will see an improvement as yesterday was the same. Im working outside today, so sods law will be that everything decides to happen when Im deep in the woods.......In fact the anxiety about that is almost guaranteed.

Jab number 6 today; second at 5mg.
I've lost 4lb this week giving me a total loss of 15lbs. Really happy with that.
Good luck all on your losses. 🥰

Hi OP, my situation is very similar and we started almost simultaneously (I was one of the first responders).

I'm also taking my second jab at 5mg today.
And like you, I've lost a total of 14lbs (6.8kgs) in 7 weeks.

No complaints about side effects. They're minimal; the worst is how tired I feel - but I think that's due to calorie deficit and losing weight rather than MJ.

The appetite suppression hasn’t been strong enough to make this rate of weight loss feel easy. I’ve still had to use a lot of willpower alongside MJ, which has made it harder to concentrate at work and has led to a few hangry moments at home. Luckily, this is a quieter time of year for me, which is why I chose to start when I did.

In hindsight, I probably should have waited until I got up to a higher dose before cutting calories quite so hard. So if other people are in this position, stay positive! Your approach might take longer but be better

My clothes already feel and look more comfortable; I love that feeling!

Hope everyone else is travelling well!

MyGardenDaisies · 22/05/2026 09:59

Hi!

I’ve decided to go back down to 2.5mg from July as suppression is no different on 5mg but exhaustion annoying.
Also the cost difference is significant.

ive used ChatGPT to calculate how many pens I need to reach my goal and I need 7 more to buy (currently on 2nd, and got 3rd purchased) . If I use discount codes and swap providers I can keep the remaining cost somewhere around 800-900£.

I am basing the calculation on the estimation that my current 1.5kg/week weight loss pace will eventually drop down to about 0.9kg/week

custardlover · 22/05/2026 11:00

I just took my 7th dose at 2.5 but annoyingly I have only lost 1lb this week. Overall it’s 20lbs in 6 weeks which is obviously fab but I feel glum about this past week, plus it was bloody hard going! So I think I’m going to move up to 5. I am nervous about side effects - can those of you who have moved up let me know how you found it please? I have had minimal / no side effects so far really.

MyGardenDaisies · 22/05/2026 12:13

@custardlover i was like you and have exhaustion on 5mg , tired constantly

I had practically no side effects on 2.5 and same on 5 (took my first 5 mg 5 days ago). I am finding if I don’t drink lots of water I feel very mildly nauseous. That’s it.

I understand what you are saying about will power. I have taken my 5th jab today and I have gone up to 3.75mg. Over the first 4 weeks on 2.5mg I have lost 14lbs but this has not come easily. I have had to put in quite a bit of willpower because some days especially during the second half of the week after the jab I have been really quite hungry at times and thinking about food.

custardlover · 22/05/2026 17:45

I wonder whether exercising the will power is actually a very good thing - proving we can do it and - when the time comes for maintenance - can taper off and not feel shocked?

I hope you're right, but I can't see me living long term with this amount of will-power. It's hard to relax and concentrate wholeheartedly on other things.

I'm hoping when I'm lighter I'll feel like re-starting exercise and that might help a bit.
I was also thinking that maybe a maintenance dose might help a 5:2 fasting diet. (2 days on 800-1000 cals, and just don't be stupid on the other 5 days)That kept my weight stable once upon a time, but the fasting days were pretty tough on pure will-power. I got the hangries by the evening.

Thesehills · 23/05/2026 06:29

Hey Everyone.

Week seven jab today and sixth weigh in.

Week 1 - 7lbs
Week 2 - 2lbs
Week 3 - 2lbs
Week 4 - 2lbs
Week 5 - 1lb
Week 6 - 1lb

Starting weight: 15 stone 7lbs
Todays weight: 14 stone 6lbs

I'm a bit fed up with only 1lb loss again this week but thinking of the wins I've noticed my clothes feel slightly big and more comfortable and I walk the dog up the hill without puffing as much.

I've banged on for two weeks now about upping my dose from 2.5 to 3.75 so a dose and 30 clicks of my second 2.5 pen, today is the day. Fingers crossed for no side effects. I've had no feelings of hunger this week but again I have had two or three evenings battling something sweet after dinner which is a habit of mine and where in the past I've fallen flat on my face.

Great support from everyone, good to catch up. Well done everyone.

Enjoy this wonderful sunshine and have a great weekend.

MyGardenDaisies · 23/05/2026 09:04

Morning!
-8.4kg in 5w5 days on Mounjaro. I’ve reached 50lbs weight loss overall 🙌

10kg more and I’m pre-pregnancies, which finally feels achievable!

Re appetite - I think it’s good to feel some appetite otherwise eventually the contrast will be a lot. I’m also keeping calories as high as possible whilst still losing weight, rather than larger deficit and quicker loss, as I know I realistically could live off my current calories on maintenance eventually when in a smaller body.

pomegranatepie · 23/05/2026 10:27

Jab number 7 tomorrow, and I am debating going up a bit from 2.5, as I have only lost 1lb this week, which is a little disappointing (I am still weighing daily, and had lost 2lbs mid week but it crept up a bit towards the end of the week)
Week 1 loss 8lb
Week 2 loss 1.9lbs
Week 3 loss 2.5lbs
Week 4 loss 2lbs
Week 5 loss 1.5lbs
Week 6 loss 1lbs

So 1stone 4lbs in six weeks, and I am now just over a BMI of 26, healthy weight is in my sights! I started at a BMI of just under 30 (lost a bit pre MJ) so this feels like huge progress in the great scheme of things, I mustn't obsesses too much about the weekly detail really.
My cholesterol was high before I started, and I am hoping this will have made an impact (especially after what happened with my mum's stroke this week - she is recovering brilliantly thankfully, but it was a clot caused by her high cholesterol) so I am going to book a blood test soon to see where I am now.
I'm comfortably in my old size 14 clothes, my sex drive has come back (delighted husband) I can do my yoga far easier, and I can really see the difference in my face.
Still a way to go, and food noise is still reasonably low, but satiety is not quite so powerful, I really wanted to keep costs down by staying on 2.5, but maybe upping the dose will help me get in my size 12 party dress by my 50th.

2.5 is doing nothing for me now, I’ve had 2 takeaways in a row ffs. Going up to the 5mg pen on Monday but starting at 3.75. This will be my 6th week on 2.5mg and I would say since week 5 I’ve noticed the effects waning. Praying 3.75 brings back the silence of no food noise and feeling full

22sra · 23/05/2026 19:53

I’ve been away with work Monday to Friday this week. So it’s been difficult to track what I’m eating and drinking at times. I know my protein has been under almost everyday and some days I’ve struggled to drink enough water. I’ve also had some alcohol. But I’m 0.2kg down and due 5th jab tomorrow.
What I did notice is that I’ve had vertigo symptoms. I thought it was due to the travel, multiple flights, different climate etc. But I’m wondering if it’s linked to MJ and me not eating and drinking correctly. I returned last night but still don’t feel 100% today. Has anyone else experienced this?

It’s so hard when you’re away with work isn’t it? And away all week is even worse!
I get a little bit queasy and light headed but not quite vertigo - had it to the extreme when I had an iced latte protein shake on an empty stomach today - I am really sensitive to caffeine so it sent me all whooshy!

22sra · 23/05/2026 21:49

Yes, it’s been a long week to say the least! 😴
Hmm… my caffeine intake has increased this week so maybe that’s not helping. I normally only have 1-2 cups of coffee or tea and then switch to decaf. But it’s been strong coffees and espressos. Maybe I’m more sensitive to the caffeine on this than I thought.
Hope it settles soon as now I’m back with the kids it’s even more exhausting when it’s feels like the room is spinning 😵‍💫

NettleTea · 24/05/2026 08:20

weigh in this morning at the end of week 4 and no movement on the scales. It had been lower yesterday but was back up again this morning. This is my usual point where everything stops so hopefully this wont be the case

24/05/2026 88.1 kg
17/05/2026 88.1 kg
10/05/2026 89.9 kg
03/05/2026 90.5 kg
26/04/2026 92 kg
21/04/2026 94 kg

loss so far 5.9 kg /13 lbs 6.3% of body weight

on a plus I cranked that 5th dose out of the pen and I seem to have solved the constipation issue, thanks to the kiwi a day advice - Im hoping that is what has held up the loss this week, but know that things are up and down with this journey

3oldladiesstuckinalavatory · 24/05/2026 12:10

Can someone have a word with me please? I joined this thread, but STILL have not started the meds. I have probably put on another couple of kilos as a result. I'm just so scared of the side effects and I know I'm being a big baby.

Any words of wisdom for an other thinker?
