New thread!

@MJalltheway that must be scary, is that a new thing for you?

OP posts:
MJalltheway · 13/04/2026 12:16

No, I've had it happen for years @HeidiLite, I very rarely get episodes these days (now that I've completely cut out caffeine and most alcohol). It's pretty bloody uncomfortable when it happens but I've never had such a reaction to the beta blockers before. My BP this morning was down to 78/60 at its lowest. I've been lying down for a few hours and now up to 88/70 so heading the right way. Maybe because there's just less of me for the meds to act on?!

HeidiLite · 13/04/2026 16:21

I just went for a final check up after last summer's hernia surgery. During ultrasound, the doc commented how thick and strong my abs are, that he rarely sees that, and asked what kind of sports I do. I'm very flattered.

@MJalltheway it is always worrying when its your blood pressure/heart. I find myself becoming impatient at the length of time it takes medication to work or to know that the adjustment to medication is the right one. I hope you feel back to normal today.

@HeidiLite , a compliment indeed.

Weight static again today despite eating sensible portions and low carb for the last week. I'm going to my new class tonight straight from work, so I will need to make sure I eat something decent for lunch.

26inprogress · 14/04/2026 07:54

Morning lovely losers/ maintainers

@MJallthewayso sorry to hear about your atrial fibrillation, hope you’re feeling better and that it was a one off.

I’ve taken all my items off Vinted for the very reasons you mention, @Polkadotdash, I can’t be bothered with the amount of time invested for v little return ( plus there are so many fakes and scams and the platform are completely disinterested).

Hope your second week is less tiring @PenelopePitstopPersistsand that the team get over themselves.

@myladyjanecompletely agree on sizing, I could kind of get different brands but you’re right, it’s within the same brand, I don’t understand it and haven’t a clue what size I am to be honest! I mostly order online and find myself ordering anything from s-m, 8-12, so bizarre! I need to get my clothes from last summer out, as I was writing this I decided to check my weight last June/July which is when I went a bit mad, thought I’d only dropped about 6 pounds or so but turns out is 21, so I’m now concerned everything will be massive, how I wish I’d listed to @HeidiLiterather than getting carried away!! I really love the stuff I bought too!

I feel absolutely dreadful, thought I had the start of a cold last Thursday but been in bed all weekend, worked from home yesterday and really shouldn’t have, my brain wasn’t working and I’m just starting week 4 of my new role so not being on my a game not an option. I spoke to my boss last night and taking a sick day, far from ideal but I feel dreadful. Not sure if it’s flu or what, feel like I did the first time I had covid.

Jins · 14/04/2026 08:25

Hope you’re feeling better today @MJalltheway. I’m going to be an enabler and suggest that you give in to temptation with making swimwear. It’s actually really easy to make a basic one piece but the fun starts when you make adjustments to get the perfect fit. Loads of video tutorials with the independent pattern companies as well. Here’s a simple free pattern to tempt you

All is relatively calm chez Jins and MIL’s passing seems to have had very little emotional impact. Far less than she used to achieve in her heyday. Here’s hoping the calm remains. DS2 appears to be using his bereavement leave to plot revenge. Good lad!

Tuesday is now my favourite day of the week as I have no obligations to worry about and can spend the day as I wish. No plans so far but I really ought to get on with some eBaying and possibly vinting.

Have a great day all!

Oh @26inprogress my DH has got some kind of lurgy that’s made him stay in bed and that’s really rare for him. I wonder if it the same thing that you have got and I hadn’t even thought of Covid.
@MJalltheway hope you’re ok?

HeidiLite · 14/04/2026 11:13

Another tip from me, if you are on any drugs with weight based dosing, go check your levels. I did lower my thyroxine dose last year, but not enough, TSH just came back as 0.11
No symptoms yet, but I have overmedicated myself before and that was no fun whatsoever.

Oh no. I hope Mr@Polkadotdashis better soon. I think mine is flu, I feel bloody awful!
Hope you’re ok too @HeidiLite, good point on meds!

MJalltheway · 14/04/2026 21:46

Thanks guys, I'm absolutely fine today and back to normal. @26inprogress hope you are feeling better soon!

@Jins thank you for the pattern, I will see if I can find some cheapo stretchy stuff to have a go at it.

Been back to my aquarobics class today, could probably do about 70% of it so quite happy my back is continuing to improve. Considering what to do next, whether to aim for picking up all the classes I did before or doing something different in the hope of avoiding further injury. I feel like I've learnt so much about my body and posture and things to watch out for now though.

Picking up a new (used) car tomorrow, switching over to electric. And pondering if we should have solar installed - we don't plan to be in the house very long so it's debatable whether it's worth it. But the huge benefit is getting a bit more energy independence which seems more and more important at the moment!

PenelopePitstopPersists · 15/04/2026 07:16

That's good news @MJalltheway , sorry to hear people are unwell. I haven't gone electric yet because my driveway isn't that great a location for it (right at the back of my property without electricity. I could install it but my charging point wouldn't be seen/could be accessed), but I would really like to when I move.

I've bought so many clothes this week 😬, eight dresses and two jackets. I really need to wind it in.

@HeidiLite I had problems adjusting medication levels recently, it wasn't fun at all, I felt like a zombie.

Jins · 15/04/2026 07:54

I took one look at the pile of junk that has been set aside for eBaying and put it in a box to go to the tip. Decisive and liberating. Had a rummage through my alterations box and felt a bit overwhelmed so didn’t do any of it. I’m not actually sure what I did now but I know I had a nice day 🤣

Weighed in this morning at my new normal of 8st 8.2 so that was good. I’m still a bit chunky round the midriff but I can live with it quite happily. Possibly a very slight improvement in the loose skin on my arms but at my age I’m not expecting miracles in that department.

i nearly went electric 11 years ago when I was changing my car but I’d just set up my consultancy and cash flow wasn’t there. I hadn’t driven an automatic at that point but I have now and I’m in no hurry to switch to electric based on that alone. So I’ll continue with my 11 yo petrol with manual gearbox until it falls apart and if I can’t replace it then I’ll just stop driving. DH can be my chauffeur 🤣

30 days before our holiday. Can’t wait for a bit of R&R

MJalltheway · 15/04/2026 08:12

Our driveway is also in a terrible spot for installing a charger but we're going to have to bite the bullet and get it done. DH has managed with an electric car and no home charger for 4 years (using 3 pin plug) but I'm not going to 😂 Got someone coming round later to give us a quote.
I've driven autos for about 15 years or so, love them! It was a challenge to go back to driving a manual when I was taking the kids out to learn to drive but I've done it regularly now over the last 3 years so I can switch between the two pretty easily.

Rehab massage for me this morning before anything else. My back is improving so much, I might even try a little gym visit this afternoon. DH off for a job interview this morning 🤞

HeidiLite · 15/04/2026 08:22

We have been full electric for several years now. My work also offers free charging, so I swap between cars depending on which one needs a charge. Quite happy with this, with current fuel prices.
One just went in for service and they gave DH a manual, he is spitting fethers as his normal route to work consist of about 2 million roundabouts :D

Weight back below 60, heading the right way.

OP posts:
Zempy · 15/04/2026 08:45

I went automatic in 2015 and will never go back. It’s so much easier and less painful given my dyspraxia and hypermobility.

There is no way I could have a charging point for an electric vehicle where I live, which is a shame.

Feeling bloated and heavy today. Think I need a good 💩

In court all day but luckily it’s an online hearing. Feel like I’m dragging myself around…

Jins · 15/04/2026 09:11

Most people say they’ll never go back from automatic. DH had one for a few months and doesn’t mind it but prefers manual if given a choice. I know I’ll have to make a decision at some point but at the moment my car is good for at least another 40k miles and probably longer so I’m not too worried. If it sees me through until I get my bus pass I’ll be happy.

Just weighed on Renpho and there’s a slight uptick on muscle mass so I’m pleased with that. Must remember to get a record before my holiday to see what happens while I’m away

Polkadotdash · 15/04/2026 10:08

Morning all. I’m in such a funk today and I dont know what to do about it. I feel low and anxious and I just wanted to hide in bed this morning and not face the day. I don’t know if it’s hormones, stress, work, fatness or all of the above.
I tried again to speak to Get a Drip about my lack of weight loss but I couldn’t get past an AI assistant thing, so I’ve cancelled my subscription. The 10mg pen was too close to £300 for my liking.

Polkadotdash · 15/04/2026 10:11

Is anyone else having problems with mumsnet posting? It keeps losing half of my posts.
So as I was saying I feel stuck in a loop of not losing weight, needing to sell more on Vinted to pay for the next dose up, finding Vinted sellers stressful and every time my phone pings I’m anxious that it’s going to be another shitty message from a stranger, so I need to get the promotion to make ends meet but then I’m terrified of being promoted because I’m tired and old and not a go-getter so I will fail. It’s just all getting on top of me.

Oh @PolkadotdashI’m so sorry to hear you’re feeling so down. Rubbish CS from Get a drip too. How about speaking to your GP to see if they can help, they may have some ideas on tests they can do to check if there’s anything that’s affecting wl? Cortisol levels can impact weight loss and stress has a big bearing on this.

Try to strip it back- you’ve lost weight, I know not as much as you’d hoped, and I understand less than you hoped over the last few months but you’re lower than you were a year ago, you have been selected for interview for a role- this is great news, they clearly think you’re a contender. As someone who’s only recently back at work after 8 months, I know how easy it is to put pressure on yourself but try to channel that into preparing for the role ( easy to say I know)
Ultimately do you think maybe you need to take time off sick. It sounds like you’re having a really rough time atm and maybe you need some breathing space?

Sending hugs and really hope you’re ok. I’ve been in a similar position to you and it’s horrible, is there anyone you can speak to about how you’re feeling- DH/ a friend? I always find getting things off my chest and breaking them down helps?

Polkadotdash · 15/04/2026 11:57

Thank you @26inprogress for your kind words. I’m not very good at talking to my friends about things, especially not money. And my DH is still in bed with the lurgy so I don’t want to burden him. I mostly just bottle things up so I’m glad to have you all to offload on to 🙂
I looked back at my stats and I’m actually only 4lbs lighter than I was this time last year. I think this is why I’m finding all the clothes that I optimistically bought in spring last year, thinking that between the weight loss and the womb loss that I would comfortably be a size 14 in the summer, hasn’t actually worked out. At least it’s given me a load of stuff to sell.
I don’t want to ask the GP about it really. I have had a hard enough time getting them to talk to me about the after effects of the hysterectomy let alone my vanity quest to be a size 12-14.

HeidiLite · 15/04/2026 11:59

that sounds tought @Polkadotdash , just one thing on top of the other, no wonder you're feeling a bit down.
Promotion might bring something fresh and exciting to your life? But even if you do fail, so what - you will definitely fail 100% on things you never try.

OP posts:
MJalltheway · 15/04/2026 14:53

Big hugs @Polkadotdash. Are you on HRT following hysterectomy? The sudden hormonal changes can pile on and give you all sorts of symptoms as well.
I can totally relate to the frustration, I tried saxenda a year before I tried Mounjaro and lost absolutely nothing on it. I felt stupid and ridiculous for having to have to resort to medication in the first place and even worse when it didn't even work.

Jins · 15/04/2026 15:44

Poor you @Polkadotdash. I really feel for you. No advice I’m afraid but I’m right behind you

Not on HRT. They basically said because I kept one ovary that I should just wait and see how I get on. I’m starting to wonder if that time has come.

And thank you all for your solidarity. Yesterday was a really hard day for me. I’m hoping I feel a bit better today.

Sounds like it may be worth talking to them @Polkadotdash. Hope your day has been better, when is your interview?
im so miffed with Bolt, despite sending proof of 3 pens ordered from Oushk in December and having a 10 from them I ordered in January they’re insisting ( after ordering and paying a week ago) I restart at 2.5, would rather use someone else who’s cheaper so I’m off to try Pharmulous. Luckily I’ve got 2 5mg pens 😫

eta did somebody have a referral code? Happy to use if so!
