@MummyInTheNecropolis it's good to 'see' you, I was thinking about you the other day and wondering how you were getting on! Good to hear maintenance is working well for you, could you share what your dosing regime is like and how you got there? How closely do you have to track calories, if at all?

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 17/04/2026 21:09

When did you start? (sorry for not picking up before)

Just before dear Queen Victoria acceded the throne. 1837.

I've just done 3 years March 2023 and it does feel like a lifetime

Hey everyone,

I'm a few days post taking the 15mg doses I don't want to sound like a whiner but I was hoping the suppression would be really good and restrict my appetite and desire for chocolate a lot more. I hear you on the Easter bunnies balls- my kids got a HUGE amount of Easter chocolate- and it's all just around, waiting to be eaten ignored!

Im getting back into some exercise too & trying to just keep doing what I was doing when the weight loss was going well.

I still need to see how things go, I guess it's still early days getting back on track post surgery but you know when something doesn't feel quite like you were hoping.

Can I ask everyone what they do about the day they jab vs the day they weigh? Are they the same day for you or do you weigh part way through the week.

Happy Friday!

I had the same suppression no matter the dose, it just lasted longer if the dose was higher

Doggymummar · 18/04/2026 08:10

I forgot to jab again yesterday so going to move it to Monday.

Ah thank you @RenegadeKeeblerElf. I only went up to 10mg when losing, when the price hikes came I started stretching out my doses to every 10-14 days to make the pen last a bit longer. I was still losing and didn’t notice any changes in suppression so have carried on dosing once a fortnight. I reached target in December and had one more 10mg dose left so I took that and then reduced to 7.5mg. I was still losing so after that pen I reduced to 5mg and that’s where I am now, 5mg every 2 weeks.

I have to be honest, it hasn’t been easy, the food noise is back big time and I struggle not to binge sometimes (I do often give in, have a big binge, feel bad about it and then get back on track the next day). Luckily it hasn’t caused any weight gain as I’m able to balance it out the rest of the week by eating well and exercising loads. I was hoping that being in maintenance meant I would be able to just eat like a ‘normal’ person, ie. Not have to track calories, eat normal healthy meals with the odd treat when I fancy it. The reality is, as someone who has always had issues with binge eating/food addiction I’m probably never going to have a ‘normal’ relationship with food. I’m trying not to let that get me down though, I’m focussing on the positives, the huge ways my life has changed since losing weight, the fact that I am able to maintain my loss, and that the mounjaro is just enough to keep the binge eating to a minimum.

I don’t track my calories every day, but when I’ve had a bad day/weekend I usually track for the next 2-3 days and try to stick to under 1400. I have 2 5mg pens in the fridge and after they’re finished I would like to try going down to 2.5mg for a month and seeing how I get on. If I gain any weight I’ll just go back up to 5 and stay on it.

OvertiredandConfused · 18/04/2026 12:53

So, I haven’t posted for a while. I’ve been offer Mounjaro for just over 3 weeks ahead of gallbladder surgery at the end of the month. I’d lost just over 8st of my 10st target

I have managed to stick to 1200-1300 calories a day, although it has been MUCH harder! I’ve still gained 3lbs. I’ve also noticed that my mobility has got worse - I’m an ambulatory wheelchair user with MS. So many people told me it was the weight loss that improved my mobility but I was always convinced that it was more than that.

Yesterday I started the 10 day pre-op diet which is brutal. Four cans of weight watchers soup and four diet yoghurts a day. Plus 200ml of milk for drinks and lots of water. 750-790 calories a day. I guess I’ll have to loose weight on that 😂.

I should be able to restart Mounjaro a few weeks after surgery, certainly that’s what’s keeping me going!

GnomeDePlume · 17/04/2026 07:29

@UsernameShmusername2024 10 stone! That's amazing , well done, 🥳 you should feel so proud of yourself.

I have worked out that I have lost a whole person with a healthy BMI. And I'm still obese!

The range of sizes at the same weight is fascinating. At 14 stone 2lbs I'm still in size 22 clothes. But I dont know if this is because I am a funny shape (barrel balanced on sticks) or because I am now too used to clothes which are baggy. 'Fitted' feels constricting.

That's interesting..I'm in mainly size 20 clothes at just 16 stone and 5 foot ten ,and a lady I follow on social media is 5 foot 7 ,15 stone 7 and wears size 16 clothes ..she genuinely does as she shows the labels ..so I find it very confusing.i know I do like things baggy on me ..but that's a big size difference for half a stone ,and plus I'm taller ..I've actually just bought some size 22 summer t shirts .. because I won't have anything, coat wise to hide under in the summer ,and I can't face anything fitted..it takes a lot of adjusting to a new body

Springflowers2 · 18/04/2026 13:09

MummyInTheNecropolis · 18/04/2026 07:11

Morning all, just popping on to say hello and congratulate you all on your brilliant progress. Weigh in day for me yesterday and I stayed the same again which I’m really pleased with. I hit my target in December so have managed to maintain for 15 weeks now after losing 13.5 stone.

Also wanted to offer some hope for those worried about loose skin/flabby bits/weird body shapes! Despite maintaining and not losing anymore weight I have noticed major changes to my body recently. I have exercised a lot throughout, I walk loads (20k steps daily), run and do yoga and Pilates. Since January I also introduced strength training with weights and this seems to be having the biggest impact. I now do a 30-45 min daily workout with dumbbells and resistance bands, I have become so much stronger and can actually see defined muscles in my arms and legs. I do still have some loose skin on my thighs which are my worst area but everywhere else has improved so much. I no longer have bingo wings, my stomach is still slightly wobbly but so much better than before and my bum is a lot firmer!

I’ve also dropped from a size 10 to a size 8 despite the fact that my weight hasn’t changed - it’s purely due to the changes in my body composition. I started out as a size 24 (which were getting tight on me)! So to be wearing size 8 jeans is just unbelievable - I regularly have to pinch myself!

Anyway, I hope this helps some of you to know that changes are possible and it’s not all down to numbers on the scales!

How do you motivate yourself to do all that exercise..I keep thinking about joining the gym ,but it would mean going at 6 am before my swim .
I'm motivated to swim because I always have regardless of size .
But I don't know if I would get up at 6 am when it's winter and freezing.
But all that exercise your doing is amazing..I wish I could motivate myself to do the same

Springflowers2 · 18/04/2026 13:15

No loss here this week
Still 16 stone .
So worked out my BMR is 1700 calories as I'm . 5 foot 10 .
So I'm not eating anywhere near that ,..I average about 800 /1000 calories per day.
So does that mean my metabolism is very slow ,or is BMR based on some kind of daily movement and not literally, you layin bed all day and still burn 1700 calories.
I just can't find the motivation to do more than a swim day

Springflowers2 · 18/04/2026 13:18

So if I'm right ,you need to eat 3500 calories less to loose one pound ,and I'm eating 700 calories less per day ,so I should be loosing a pound a week at least.
And I'm not doing.
Something is a miss somewhere..

Springflowers2 · 18/04/2026 13:26

It could be playing catch up from the weight I lost when I was stressed,
I'd forgotten about that
I didn't actually put any of that back on ..so maybe it will stall for a bit .
I wish I could loose weight consistently, instead of all these stops and starts I keep having

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 18/04/2026 13:54

How much did you lose then @Springflowers2?

It's good that you haven't put it back on.

OP posts:
SilenceInside · 18/04/2026 13:54

@OvertiredandConfused I wonder if the 3lbs gain is related to the change in mobility, so maybe related to inflammation and retaining water as a result? The 10 day pre op diet sounds like a big challenge. I guess it’s designed to be a very low fat, low carb, low calorie diet. Hope it all goes well for you and the surgery too.

Fffreeeeezing · 18/04/2026 13:59

Week 57 and have stayed exactly the same, 16st 7lb, 128lb loss.

As expected as every month I have a whoosh followed by a 1lb off, followed by a STS or a 1lb, then maybe a 1lb or 2 off before the next whoosh.

@Springflowers2 clothes sizing comparisons are just odd and make zero sense. I’m just under 5ft 5, 16st 7 and I’m just starting buying size 16’s, currently wearing a size 18 pair of M&S jeans that are rigid denim (as in zero stretch) and they are hanging off me so I’ve just bought exactly the same ones off Vinted in a 16. I’ve discovered I have really small shoulders so am struggling with tops that mostly fit but the arms look too big around the shoulders. I’m definitely melting downwards like a candle, I assume this is why my legs look🤮.

When it comes to comparing ourselves with other peoples sizes/weights, never a truer phrase was said than “comparison is the thief of joy”

GnomeDePlume · 18/04/2026 14:02

The answer is that

A. we arent steam engines so that formula is just an average
B. not all calories are absorbed but how much gets absorbed will depend on the food and the individual

So for you it may be a little more than 3500 calories plus your body may be efficient at extracting the calories from the food you eat.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 18/04/2026 13:54

How much did you lose then @Springflowers2?

It's good that you haven't put it back on.

Altogether 11 stone .
About 5 pounds the other week

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 18/04/2026 14:45

Thanks for sharing that @MummyInTheNecropolis , sounds like you have got a fairly good balance going on. I think it's always going to take a while for us to develop a good relationship with food but it sounds like you are doing well. I'm a way off from maintenance yet but I like hearing about the different ways people approach it.

Springflowers2 · 18/04/2026 14:47

So ,I have decided
I'm joining the gym
I'm terrified
But I go there swimming every morning,so I know it well ,it's just a matter of getting up earlier in the morning to gym before swim
By putting on here I can't back out
I don't think I can keep it up , eating 1000 calories a day ,long term
I do actually want to eat more ,so excerise is needed

SilenceInside · 18/04/2026 15:20

@Springflowers2 will you do an induction with a PT or similar so they can do you a programme? I wouldn’t know where to start with what weights to do these days.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 18/04/2026 15:32

You're very brave @Springflowers2

Kudos to you for making this decision.

I'd consider a gym, but it's fifteen miles away in the next village, and my stupid husband has the car. TBF it's his Motability car, but when we were together, I drove it, of course.

Anyway. I've never in my life been in a gym. I think I've been too overweight to consider it, really. Not enough energy.

It was never because I was self-conscious about my size. Always just due to having no energy.

I bought a little exerciser for myself, though.

This little thing:

I think, by using this, and taking Diosmin/Hesperidin capsules, and walking briskly every day, my legs have got slimmer and stronger.

Oh god
I was on crutches for 3 months after going mad on one of these ,I got RSI
From doing hours a day on it ..that's how I went on monjroro,as I'd been doing hours a day on it to loose 2 pounds a week ,then I ended up on crutches and it went to the dump ..so I took the plunge with monjroro..and thank god I did ,
But I expect you have a lot more sense than me broom ,and don't have the all or nothing mentality I seem to have

I used to go to the gym every day ,I even went on my wedding day
And when I was fatter than now
But a long time ago
But I've lost all my confidence now 😭
So it's going to be hard to go back

You can't join without an induction.
I'm already paying monthly to swim every day ,so it's not a huge amount more to do the gym as well
I've been thinking about it for a while ,but just to scared really .
No idea why ..if I can get in a swimming costume at a size 32 ,the gym in actual clothes should be a breeze

I started very slowly, increased very gradually and I only do things that I enjoy. I absolutely hate the gym so don’t go to one. I love being outside so started couch to 5k around this time last year and kept it up, I run 5k at least twice a week and really enjoy it. I also love yoga so I go to a lovely local class once a week and do it at home every day. I do other classes at a little fitness studio near me (it’s nothing like a gym thankfully, just one room full of women of all shapes and sizes and we have a laugh together). One of my favourite classes is a strength training one with dumbbells so I’ve now bought my own set and work out with them at home every other day following YouTube videos. I also love walking so walk everywhere, I do 20,000 steps a day and go on long hikes every couple of weeks.

Because I enjoy it all so much I don’t really feel like I have to motivate myself much. I look forward to going out for a walk or a run and I love seeing the improvements I’m making (I got a new PB at parkrun this morning and I’ve been on a high all day because of it)!
