hi, I thought I would start a new group. I am waiting for my medical review before being issued with my first dose

Grrr shouldn't have stepped on the scales this morning. Random pound heavier than yesterday for no reason that I can think of.

Have injected this morning so fingers crossed it will disappear soon.

DaffodilsSunshine · 08/06/2026 09:13

I’ve only lost 1lb in 3 weeks! I’m not calorie counting every single thing but I am trying to stay around 1400. Think it might be time to move up from 2.5 :-(

taratill · 08/06/2026 09:20

Maybe try 3.75 @DaffodilsSunshine? That seems to be a good dose for me. Despite the random gain this morning I've lost around 2lbs a week on 3.75 where I was stalling at 2.5.

DaffodilsSunshine · 08/06/2026 09:22

I have a 2.5mg with 3 doses left plus gd so I might a needle to get 3 x 3.3mg and try that? :-)

This happens to me randomly too! But I don’t worry as experience has taught me that a bigger loss follows. I just try and stay off the scales for a few days.
Positive thoughts!

Beehivebabe · 08/06/2026 10:18

@taratill hope you’re feeling better. In fact blame the 1lb on not feeling well 😅

Did you get any spare needles with the pen? I have had 5 needles each time so not needed to buy extra.

DaffodilsSunshine · 08/06/2026 10:45

I’ve bought insulin needles to use

taratill · 08/06/2026 11:36

@Beehivebabe , I'll take feeling rough for the weight gain! I'm all over the place with periods with peri at the moment and seem to have started this morning so I'll put it down to that!

I feel OK thanks. Woke up with a sore chest and blocked ears again. Most odd. I'm on a mission though to try to sort the house out. There is dust everywhere which may well be contributing to my chest issues and we have boxes of things where they shouldn't be (still haven't located the remote control for the walking pad) so I'm trying to continue to tackle that having been in a state of lethargy all weekend.

I'm primarily trying to sort son's room out (who's at uni in London). We've banned his lovely girlfriend from coming for a few months as the house has been way too chaotic (think cooking from airfryer in living room and no running water down stairs for 2 months) but they're both coming here for a couple of nights next week so I need to make his room accessible.

I've never needed them. You can get the golden dose just by twisting the pen.

DaffodilsSunshine · 08/06/2026 12:48

Yeah but I want to get 3.3 out of a 2.5 mg pen so the easiest way to do it is with a syringe

taratill · 08/06/2026 13:36

Woo hoo! Important update! I've found the walking pad remote control!

No more pacing the house and garden to get the steps in!

Yay! Good luck with the rest of the sorting out too and feeling better!

We didn’t get in any houses yesterday, it was more scouting out the area. Walked round, went in the local pub (only one haha) and looked round outside the couple of homes we are looking at. We will be ready to go to market in a couple of weeks but I’m not committing until we have an area def In mind!

I have a few spares now, but never got given a new needle box. I guess it will fit loads but at some point will need a new one and how to get rid of the full one.

Beehivebabe · 08/06/2026 13:51

Ooh and I have an important update (to me!) the constipation has eased up…
I have been eating a bit more and drinking more water and having a few prunes every day.
the chia seeds are on this week’s shop so will still try them just in case the past week becomes an isolated week 😅

taratill · 08/06/2026 14:52

I know what you mean about needing to like the area @Beehivebabe , we almost moved a couple of years ago & then changed our minds because we really like the area where we are, that's how come we've ended up having an extension and making other changes.

Really pleased to hear about the constipation too! I'd still recommend the chia seed, they are a brilliant source or protein and keep you ful too.

Right, I'm off to tackle yet more dust! I've done more than 10,000 steps already today just tidying/ sorting. While I'm in the mood I need to keep going. DH is in the office today which makes things massively easier. When he WFH he's always under my feet.

@MoneyJo. Well done on another loss, I’ve lost 2lbs this week so I’m 1lb away from my 3 stone. Feels amazing! I’m going to stick with 5 for my next one too, although I can guarantee Bolt are going to suggest 7.5 😬
@taratill house browsing in person today. Want to move area so it’s a big choice to make!

I’ve just watched an interview with the lead investigator of the Mounjaro studies. She says unequivocally that you should not sprint up the doses, but stay on the lowest effective dose.

Also @MoneyJo - we discussed a little while ago that there was some kind of voodoo magic with MJ which explained weight loss beyond calories in/out. The video I’ve just mentioned also sees her explaining that the science suggests that the medication is recalibrating the ‘defended fat set point’. Quite a long video, but very interesting.

This is a link.

taratill · 08/06/2026 17:14

@Junmaro thanks for that link. I'm going to try to watch that tomorrow.

Still dealing with dust!

Beehivebabe · 08/06/2026 18:23

@Junmaro. Thanks for that, very interesting!
And yes, Bolt did suggest going to 7.5 even though I filled out the check in and have little to no hunger and I’m losing steadily. They do give you the option to choose your own tho so I’ve ordered 5mg again. I really want to keep the dose as low as possible for as long as possible!

MoneyJo · 08/06/2026 19:21

@Junmaro thanks that looks so interesting.

taratill · Yesterday 12:18

@Junmaro I've just listened to that podcast. Really interesting. Especially the view that we will need to be on it for life and not rushing through the doses when losing weight.

The providers who encourage the next dose immediately could do with taking note.

Without any evidence to back it up, my guess is that quick dose escalation when not needed (ie when you’re losing 0.5lb per week plus) won’t serve people well in the long run.

taratill · Yesterday 13:18

I took it that it increases the chance of unpleasant side effects to take more than you need to lose weight and as it is supposed to be long term it gives you somewhere to go with the dosage if you reach one of the 'set points' she was talking about.

SmallTreeDeepRoots · Yesterday 14:02

@Junmaro Really interesting listen - thanks!
