From what I have read getting pens once you're below 30 isn't a problem @Wegome26 but not every pharmacy gives them once you're below 25, for maintenance.

Beehivebabe · 10/04/2026 20:35

@MoneyJo. Ok yes that makes sense, as you’re s bit ahead of me I will follow how you get on. I’ll be ordering my 3rd pen on Monday. I weighed today and another 2lbs off, so that’s 22lb loss which I’m over the moon about. Trying to resist weighing more than once a week!

MoneyJo · 10/04/2026 20:42

That's great @Beehivebabe

Dontlletmedownbruce · 11/04/2026 15:36

Well done all. I haven't checked in in a while.

Anyone throw out trousers yet? I fantasise about throwing out trousers... not there yet. I've some cheap shapeless ones I bought a few years ago and didn't want to invest cos I foolishly thought the extra weight would be gone in a few weeks. They are probably too worn for the charity shop. Please share your clothing related victories for inspiration!

MoneyJo · 11/04/2026 17:14

Interesting post @Dontlletmedownbruce - nowhere near ready to throw out trousers BUT... I ordered some size 18 trousers from a company I often wear, knowing they would be tight. They arrived a couple of weeks ago and were too snug to be comfy. Tried them on today and they feel great. I've been a size 20 for years so this feels good.

taratill · 11/04/2026 17:22

Just checking in as not been around for a week or so.

I'm another slow loser around a 1lb a week.

I had a bit of a mare last week as I went away and forgot the pen so I ended up injecting 3 days late and the supression completely stopped. The leaflet says that if you forget and take within 4 days you can just go straight back to the normal day of the week but I'm a bit concerned about that as I'm getting an annoying side affect (rash at the injection site). I'm taking anti- histamines but I'm concerned about this being worse with effectively a higher dose in the system for a few days. This is also the reason I haven't yet increased from 2.5 despite being a slow loser.

SeekingSolutions76 · 11/04/2026 18:24

I started a couple of weeks ago and took my first jab to see how it would work.
the appetite suppression was good but the stomach upset was tremendous. Awful diarrhoea and almost uncontrollable. I have a lot of weight to lose. I am not weighing myself as have had issues in the past and know that I can/will get back to that mindset. I am currently a size 20/22 and 5ft9 so I would estimate at least 5 stone to lose.
i have been on holiday so didn’t take the second jab and two weeks later have only just started to get my appetite back. Met someone today I had not seen since before the first jab and she asked me if I had lost weight.
I am wondering if to try and jab only every two weeks if it’s working and minimises the stomach issues?
I have upped my protein intake and taken to drinking electrolytes everyday as well as lots of water. Water has always been my main drink and I usually drink at least two litres a day anyway but have upped to three litres or more.
how do you control the stomach issues? I stopped chocolate and fatty food. Stopped tea and coffee and any milk.

Seriestwo · 12/04/2026 09:35

Speak to your supplier? I’m not sure about dropping to fortnightly, the half life of the drug will wear off. Maybe drop to 1.75mg? You’d need to get the little diabetes syringes and be careful with measuring and injecting.

Wegome26 · 12/04/2026 13:33

Hi @SeekingSolutions76 I first tried mj in 2024 and had extreme appetite suppression. I ended up not taking anymore injections.
2 years later I’ve tried again and such a difference now where near as much appetite suppression (would like a bit more) and no side effects apart from increase in reflux.
my point is you may find that you don’t have a. Bad reaction to the next jab. Even on this thread I think it was @ShebaQueen had some bad side effects but persevered and it got better.
Knowing what I know now I would carry on but it you are really worried you could try easing yourself in by taking 1.75 turn pen to 30 clicks so you get half the dose. I don’t think once every two weeks will work. Maybe when you are weaning off but not at the beginning with 5st to lose.

MoneyJo · 12/04/2026 13:55

That would be 1.25 wouldn't it, @Wegome26 ?

ShebaQueen · 12/04/2026 14:01

Hi @SeekingSolutions76 I would persevere if you can possibly bear it. As @Wegome26 says, I found the first week really tough, I didn't have any diarrhoea, but felt really nauseous, frequently gagged on food and had horrific heartburn, and headaches that I imagined must be like a migraine (never had one previously). I was really anxious about the second jab, but was spurred on by a good weight loss in week 1. Miraculously, I felt almost normal in week 2, with appetite suppression pretty good, even on days 6 & 7. I'm now into week 7 and have lost 7.5kg overall. I am still on 2.5 and dithering about whether to stick there for another month or move up to 5.
It sounds like you are doing all the right things, I have never drunk so much water and I am eating pretty low carb with as much protein as I can manage. Milky coffee makes me feel really sick now, so lattes are a thing of the past! You could try ginger or peppermint tea - both helped me a little bit. I also read lots of tips about where to inject (stomach seems to be the most recommended) and what time of day was best (lots of people said morning, whereas I had originally jabbed at night, hoping to sleep off any side effects). I am not sure that any of these make a difference, for me, time was the best solution, it was a waiting game and my body just gradually got used to it.

Good luck whatever you decide!

Yes of course whoops no idea why I put 1.25 😳😂

LostTheGoodScissors · 13/04/2026 10:47

I’m about to do my 6th injection and, if I’m honest, I’m feeling a bit disheartened. The last few weeks haven’t shown anything on the scales, even though I’m eating around 1000–1200 calories a day. I’m not able to run or get to the gym at the moment because of an injury, but I am walking loads, sometimes up to 20,000 steps, so it’s frustrating that things aren’t shifting.
That said, I’m going to stick with it. My clothes are definitely fitting better, which has to count for something. I just wish the scales would catch up a bit for the motivation.

CatLady93 · 13/04/2026 10:49

@LostTheGoodScissorsHey :) unless you’re extremely petite - 1000/1200 calories a day with walking etc is extremely low. It will be massively shocking your body and putting it in survival/starvation mode. Have you worked out what your calories should be to be in a deficit to lose weight safely? Said with love!! X

LostTheGoodScissors · 13/04/2026 13:57

My understanding is that ‘starvation mode’ is mainly an old wives tale. There isn’t any good research to back it up, unless you know of any I’ve not seen. Obviously, metabolism changes as you lose weight and eat less, but that’s not going stop you losing weight if you’re in a calorie deficit. I know how many calories I need and track my calories meticulously. I’ve always just needed a lot fewer calories than other people and put on weight very easily. It’s bloody annoying.

SeekingSolutions76 · 13/04/2026 20:21

Thank you for all the comments. I am going to start agin on Saturday and aim for weekly injections.
Just seen some photos to myself and I hate them. Hate myself and just need to lose weight both for health concerns and vanity reasons.
good luck everybody.

I have another NSV! My wedding ring fits again 😊 I've just been wearing my engagement ring for the last few years because my wedding ring wouldn't go past my knuckle!

You’ve reminded me to go and hunt for mine - not worn for at least 10 years!

Hopefully you can again!

Beehivebabe · 13/04/2026 22:13

@MoneyJo. That’s amazing! Such a nice feeling :)
funny enough I’ve had to buy a small plain band to wear as both my wedding rings are too loose and I’m worried about them falling off! Found a nice one in Next today.

MoneyJo · 13/04/2026 22:16

That's lovely @Beehivebabe

taratill · 14/04/2026 07:47

Well after 5 weeks I have lost a stone! Another 4 to go!

I was 4 days late with my injection last week because I went away and forgot to take it with me.

Does anyone know if I am able to now inject today (the original day) because I'm going away again, this time abroad on a mini break and I don't want the faff of taking it with me?

DH has started to say he can notice I'm losing, especially my face isn't as fat and I've lost a couple of inches on my waist which means that a pair of jeans that I couldn't do up before I started now need a belt!!!

Well done everyone on the losses. Regarding wedding rings I had mine resized bigger last year so I'm sure it will be too big soon!

I wore a pandora ring for ages when mine was too tight.

Beehivebabe · 14/04/2026 08:05

@taratill well done on your loss! Re taking the jab late, my leaflet tells me that if I normally jab on a Sunday I can take the next dose as normal from
Monday to Wednesday but not Thursday onwards and you need to skip a dose. No idea why this would be an issue as you could just start taking it on the new day going forward, i think. It says taking too much can cause low blood sugar and make you sick. Whether it will who knows.

Ah thanks, that would somewhat scupper my plans.

I can't see any harm in it though logically. I've stayed on 2.5 when I could have gone to 5. So it would be just like taking 5 over the course of week instead.

I don't know what to do, I might just give it a go. But then if I get SE's it might ruin my holiday. Decisions decisions!

Seriestwo · 14/04/2026 08:21

Stick to the 2.5 and you’ll be fine. It might mean a bit of side effect but there will still be drug in your system. I’m trying to state on 2.5 for that reason. For as long as possible .It give a bit of leeway.
