Little NSV - 6 weeks in I am finding myself wanting to wear slightly different shapes and in particular wanting a more fitted top style. I started looking on Vinted and then remembered the cashmere jumpers I bought in, like, 2007-2008, some of which I’ve long since given away or have had moths at them when I didn’t put them in their zip bags, or they shrunk in too-hot washes, but there are 3 that haven’t had that happen, which I had stored properly in zip bags, and to my delight I am wearing one right now and it fits just nicely! The other 2 need a couple of repairs so I shall get darning. But I am right now feeling not just cosy and warm, but very fancy.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 16/03/2026 14:20

I bought a gorgeous cashmere jumper on Vinted a couple of weeks ago.
It was new, but had a very tiny hole that the previous owner had accidentally made.

Anyway, I bought it and matched some darning wool and now it looks perfect.

@Billybingbong I also live in a little village, with one practice nurse.

Luckily ours is great, but if any HCP had made idiotic comments like your nurse made, I'd have raised it with the practice manager.

It's ludicrous that your nurse thinks that you should stop losing weight while you're still over 15st!

And that's without factoring in her bizarre remarks on the BMI scale.

Edited

I sell damaged cashmere on eBay, people are so clever at fix8ng it. I can do it myself but would rather other people did it and they know the quality if the repair.m

I have a really importsnt dr's appointment tomorrow. It's to get the dr to write a report detailing how my obesity affects my daily life. If the report proves that it's a disabilty for me then the swedish version of the dwp may agree to cover the costs of wli.

It's extremely difficult to get approval. But I figure, with my history, it's worth a try. I mean, how can they say it doesn't affect my daily life when I have osteoporosis and the weight is crushing my spine? Or hormone positive breast cancer, where it literally feeds the cancer? Or severe sleep apnea? High blood pressure? Achilles tendonitis? Bursitis in the hips? And that's not even the full list.

user593 · 16/03/2026 15:50

Good luck @MrTiddlesTheCat, that all sounds very stressful! I think they’d be hard pressed to say it’s not debilitating for you, but if it’s anything like the English system these decisions often make little sense!

Springflowers2 · 16/03/2026 16:09

@MrTiddlesTheCat good luck tomorrow, hope it goes well

MCR24 · 16/03/2026 16:40

Good luck @MrTiddlesTheCat

@Billybingbong that's an absolutely ridiculous conversation 😂 no wonder you lost your patience!

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 16/03/2026 17:12

Out of interest @Billybingbong was the nurse who made the ridiculous remarks overweight herself?

First post-holiday weigh in and I’ve lost 2.5lbs!!! Quite proud of that actually and shows what the MJ can do. I was nervous coming home that my on the plane wins with the seatbelt and did down table would be lost but everything was fine and the scares confirmed it when home.

My one year is up in a few weeks and I’d love to hit 7 stone off, just feels like a nice round number.

@TragicMuse I would recommend hitting the sales for clothes if you’re not a vinted person, I bought an entire 2 week holiday wardrobe for about £200 using the Next and Asda sales, including trousers for as little as £5 that can be worn anytime. Next and Asda both seem to have the attitude to get rid of stock by bottoming out prices rather pay to store stuff which suits me.

@Billybingbong, can’t believe the way you were spoken to, but I’m so proud of you standing up for yourself. The nurse needs to educate herself better,

Yes, I'd say very similar to where I am now. Actually, I've only skimmed over the whole conversation, and she did make a few more comments. I don't really want to say too much more, as it would be outing, but the more I think about it, the more I realise it was more about her situation than mine. I kind of get it, but it doesn't make it right, and I am definitely going to raise it at my next appointment.

Billybingbong · 16/03/2026 18:29

Good luck tomorrow @MrTiddlesTheCat, I hope you have a sympathetic doctor and the decision makers see sense. I'll be keeping everything crossed for you.

@TheZingyFish back from holiday with a loss, get you!! Well done, that should stave off any post holiday blues. I too am hoping for 7st for my jabversary in a few weeks. I'm only 1lb away, so am secretly hoping I might get that little bit further and get to 100lb off. We'll see...

Theringcycle · 16/03/2026 18:29

@MrTiddlesTheCat wishing you the very best for your appointment. There are SO many medications that are available through public health that must have a far smaller impact, it astonishes me that these injections are not being taken on board as the amazing health interventions that they are. I have diabetes which is how I can get them on the nhs and I’m extraordinarily grateful and I wish everyone could have the same provision. It alll in my view stems from our weight being seen as our “fault”.

PearlsTeapot · 16/03/2026 18:55

@TheZingyFish well done on your holiday weight, you should be very proud of yourself! And 7 stone is unreal. Amazing xx

@MrTiddlesTheCat good luck tomorrow. Hope your decision maker sees sense xx

I went for a Starbucks earlier (my favourite treat) and when I was drinking it realised I wasn’t even enjoying it. So I tipped half away and felt proud of myself for choosing to save 150 calories over a few quid.

OliviaFlaversham · 16/03/2026 19:02

I’M NOT OBESE ANYMORE!!!

Nowhere else could I shout this so loudly. My BMI is 29.3. It started as 50.4. Started on 1st November 2024 and still got a couple more stone to lose to get within healthy range.

PearlsTeapot · 16/03/2026 19:32

@OliviaFlaversham woohoo I’m thrilled for you! What an achievement. You must have worked so hard.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 16/03/2026 20:10

Wow @Billybingbong, you held your own very well there! That’s just shocking, she really does need to educate herself…

good luck @MrTiddlesTheCat!
@TheZingyFish well done you, I bet that felt so good 🌟
@OliviaFlaversham amazing 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

MrTiddlesTheCat · 16/03/2026 20:19

Congratulations @OliviaFlavershamthat's amazing. Well done.

@TheringcycleYou're right, they should be more widely available. I'm lucky in that my husband earns enough to pay for them, but I couldn't afford them myself. That's why I'm trying to get funding, incase something ever happened to him. My best chance of getting approval is now, while I'm still disabled by my weight, not further down the line when I'm not.

Billybingbong · 16/03/2026 21:34

@OliviaFlaversham wow, how fabulous, bloody well done. That's a very worthy achievement, and absolutely should be shouted from the rooftops!!

Theringcycle · 16/03/2026 21:51

Great stuff @OliviaFlaversham !

Springflowers2 · 17/03/2026 07:06

@OliviaFlaversham .. utterly fabulous ...well done you

TragicMuse · 17/03/2026 10:08

Losers! I have an absurd NSV!

My leggings are baggy!

I’m wearing a tunic thing with leggings and boots. And they’re really quite loose. Not doing that annoying too-tight-compression-tights-itchy thing.

The boots are Duo calf fit ones, also too big but I can live with that for now. I love them enough for it not to matter.

Baggy leggings though! Who knew that was a thing?!

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 17/03/2026 10:35

Baggy leggings though! Who knew that was a thing?!

When my size 14 leggings became baggy, I was puzzled.

In the past I'd basically lived in leggings. They were always snug.

("in the past" = "when I was fat")

I never experienced baggy leggings until I lost nearly 10st.

I can't wear them now. Well, I could, if I bought some smaller ones.
🤣
