@notcomfortable thank you, it’s not really ok. He has cancer and is in active chemo treatment. It’s been 6 years so just normal for us now but he’s deteriorated last week and no one can confirm why and keep changing their minds on what’s wrong. They haven’t even got oncology involved. Today might be a war path day to try and get some answers.

Oh bless you both 🫂 I really can sympathise with you
Look after yourself too, you are just as important

Can’t remember if I’ve asked this already but did any of you find the jump from 2.5mg to 5mg too much or were you ok?
Took my 4th dose of 2.5mg yesterday and currently have a 5mg pen due to arrive next week but I have until today to decide whether to change that or not. I’m feeling the build up of first week nerves all over again!

I had horrible symptoms last week after taking my 1st 5mg. Hardly ate a thing all week and anything I did eat went straight through me.

After a lot of debate I decided to take my 2nd jab this week and it’s been much better. I have slight nausea but I can cope with that.

still have zero appetite and am really struggling to eat anything which I know isn’t great.

My update - Im on Wegovy
SW 12st 9.9lb 22/12/25
CW 11st 9.4lb 20/2/26
lost 1 stone 0.5lb
Target weight - 11stone
I have done 4 doses of 0.25 and 3 doses of 0.5. I squirted the fourth 0.5 dose down the sink.

I have felt so rough on 0.5mg, relentless nausea, crippling heartburn, so, so tired. I'm full all the time. Luckily I've not vomited (I've come close) and I'm managing constipation with tons of water and dried apricots plus kiwi.

My body must respond really well to the drug hence the weight I've lost and my strong reaction to it when I went up a dose. For the past 4 weeks I have felt like a zombie.

Im now going back down to 0.25 as I was losing weight fine on that dose but just presumed the right thing to do was move up.

I have 9lb or so left to lose and this pen will be my last one. I hate how I feel on this medication, I don't look forward to food at all which is so sad. I feel like I'm half functioning most of the time.

My reasons for taking WG was to reduce my blood pressure and to kick start my weight loss after cancer and the drugs I take to stop the cancer coming back. The weight just wouldn't budge. I don't have massive issues with food and my will power is pretty good so I'm hoping I can keep my weight loss stable after I've taken my final dose.

2.9 pounds off this week which takes me to 2 stones in 7 weeks - amazing. I moved up
to 3.75 this week and am going to stick with it for another week. Side effects minimal so reluctant to move up again until I have to.

recruitretain · 20/02/2026 13:41

CatNoBag · 20/02/2026 10:15

If you stick to the lowest dose, the effect will eventually wear off. You start on the lower to dose to give your body time to get used to the medication. When they first started using it, they'd start people off on the full dose, but nearly all would suffer D&V and other side effects. If you increase gradually there's less likelihood of this happening. The lowest dose works initially, but your body adapts.

this is nonsense

if your losing never go up

the effects don’t ware off for everyone, im in a weight loss group managed by a GP and pharmacist they prescribe for us and we meet weekly

most of us on 2.5mg the group had people on 2.5mg for over a year

it’s crazy how much bad information is out there

if losing don’t increase dose !

dont move up

your loosing very fast already

BG2015 · 20/02/2026 13:48

@recruitretain totally agree with you. I should have just stayed on the lower dose, I was losing and my side affects were minimal.

I think I just presumed that each month the effect would wane so you go up to the next dose. If you're losing on your current dose just stick at it.

Worst thing I did moving up.

I'm not disagreeing with you - I've stayed on a low dose myself as I was happy with my weight loss, but I am finding that the balance between the injection and my own will-power has shifted a bit, and I will probably go up at some point (I'm hoping just to 5mg or at most 7.5mg). I've lost about 11lbs in 5 weeks, which is a good amount but also not a huge amount (I lost 5lbs in the first week, which is the usual pattern of a big initial loss for me when I start dieting).

I think each individual needs to consider what is working for them and what isn't. I'm delighted with how things have gone for me so far, but I also want to make sure I'm learning good habits for the long term so taking a lower dose works for me. I have less to lose than some, more than others. All of us are different in how much we have to lose, our motivations and how our bodies react to the drugs, so I think a blanket message telling everyone not to go up isn't really helping (you seem to have commented this on a lot of posts today). You might be in a weight loss group with a GP and a pharmacist, but most of us here aren't, and the advice you're being given is based on you personally, not general received advice that works for everyone.

My DH (the only person who knows I’m doing this) had just told me I’m looking tired and gaunt.

He’s probably right. Since going up to 5 on MJ I’ve hardly eaten a thing. I know I have to but I just can’t. I don’t know what I want and everything just makes me feel so queasy and I feel full all the time.

i think I may go back down to 2.5 next week. I’ve given it a good go and I’m loosing weight but far too quickly.

im paranoid my hair is going to start falling out and I’ll end up with gallstones. I am taking multi vitamins which I hope are helping but I am beginning to feel a bit like a zombie

BG2015 · 20/02/2026 15:38

@totallyfrustedim the same! The weight loss is great but I feel awful.

I think thats the most sensible thing to do

The side effects can be brutal, but they should also ease. If it isn't easing up then go back down a dose, spread your doses out or count the clicks so you aren't taking the full 5mg
I couldn't be arsed figuring out the clicks that's why I suggested going longer between doses.

I last injected last week before I went on holiday. I'm going to spread out my doses as I don't want to go higher than 5mg, just personal preference

Sorry to hear what you’re going through @bookwormcrazy😕

Also important to note, I was on this medication last year so I may just not be responding to sife effects as my body is used to it, I'm not sure
I had 4 days of diarrhoea and sickness when I first took 2.5 last year but I had no other issues going up and got as far as 10mg

It’s mad isn’t it.

I want to feel really great and enjoy the weight loss but I just don’t have the energy.

everything is feeling like an effort today.

JHound · 20/02/2026 21:46

Took first dose of 5mg this morning. Feel nothing yet.

Perimenoanti · 21/02/2026 09:29

I finally had my whoosh and lost 5lb over night to a new low. Im hoping for more whooshing as I feel bloated from water. Will take a long walk today, hoping that will help get things moving.

As a reward I tried on new trousers that I bought a month ago and were too tight. They fit nicely now. I will bin some old and baggy ones. I need this today.

InstantRegret · 21/02/2026 09:39

That’s amazing @Perimenoanti👏

How are you feeling now @JHound? I’m due to take my first 5mg next week and I’m scared 😬
I woke up thinking I should stick to 2.5mg but it’s too late to change my order now 🤦‍♀️

Morning all
Checking In
W6D2
SW 14st 11lbs
CW 13st 12lbs
So close to my first stone! It’s felt pretty slow but very manageable. I’m envious of those of you who have had much bigger losses but at least it’s all heading in the right direction.

Moved up to 3.33mg from a 5mg pen yesterday by counting clicks but I’m not sure it’s done much. Now I’m wondering if I ought to take the other 1.66mg later in the week.

I had an interesting read of one of the other groups threads when they were reaching a similar stage to us and lots of them seemed to be counting clicks or split dosing but very few of us seem to be.

Maybe I’m a cheapskate but I want to keep my dose as low as I can for as long as possible.

@Perimenoanti well done, that's a great loss!

Weigh day for me today and lost 1.5lb, taking me to a stone and a half overall since the beginning of January.

I had 7.5mg left of my pen so decided to take 3.75mg today and will do the same next week (instead of 3 x 2.5mg), just to ease myself into three 5mg pen I have waiting for me.

cautiouslyoptimistic3 · 21/02/2026 10:34

Amazing update @Perimenoanti💪

Still no loss here this week so far and gone the other way. Will see where I am on Monday on jab day and put a better plan together for next week. Am contemplating being stricter with time restricted eating - so maybe eat in a 6 hr window. And cut out the pasta which has snuck in this week. My protein hasn’t been good either this week.

Sorry for those really struggling with the side effects.

@NewPantsforaNewYear I read the other threads too and find their journeys fascinating, informative and really uplifting - as they too tackle the lows and overcome them. I think the thinking has changed a lot recently it feels - whereas before it was go up fairly quickly, now people are encouraged to stay on as low as possible for as long as they can. If this next month of 2.5 doesn’t work for me I can see me contemplating split dosing and go up gradually. I had hoped to be one of those where 2.5 works thoughout - now I feel that I will end up one of those rare people for whom MJ doesn’t work. RIght now petrified of doing the golden dose.

Anyone else get light headed? All morning I have to stabilise myself when I stand up because I feel wobbly for a few seconds. I have been struggling to get sufficient calories in since going up to 0.5mg, maybe I need to look at that

Yes me, I was putting down to lack of calories as well.

i bought myself a high protein meal from M&S for dinner last night as I was getting a bit desperate. I couldn’t get through the whole meal but ate about half. It’s probably the most calories I’ve had for a week and I do feel better this morning.

they are not the cheapest but I may get a couple more as it means I don’t have to worry think about what I’m going to eat.

Thank you. Im close to tears at times. I feel so lucky to be able to access WLI. The prospect of being able to undo lots of damage and live a different life feels real. I had a shit life. Im so lucky to be earning enough to afford therapy and WLI. Buying my way out of trauma and into emotional and physical health. Its a big Fuck You to my childhood abusers.
