Day 6 of dose 6 of 2.5 mg and I've really struggled with hunger today. First time since starting. I don't know if it's because I'm getting used to it, am just hungrier as the big losses are catching up with me, or I'm going down with something as I look like a tomato today. Whatever it is, it's driving my anxiety sky high.

Rubytoes · 16/02/2026 19:31

CatNoBag · 15/02/2026 19:00

Check the dates on them when they arrive @Rubytoes. My 5mg one has a use by date of December 2026, and I have a 2.5mg that I got in January with a date of July 2026.

That's a good point, thank you. Haven't noticed the use by dates so far but I've been using immediately so had no need to.

I'm also shuffling back and forth between kg and lb. My sciencey head thinks better in kg, but for sharing updates lbs seems better. I've lost a bit more than a stone, and my clothes are looser, but not to the point of needing different clothes. Most of my tops are already 3 sizes bigger than my old size, because I hated my tummy so much and wanted to hide it under baggy clothes.

totallyfrusted · 16/02/2026 20:27

A quick update from me and I still have the most terrible diarrhea. I took my first 5mg MJ dose last Wednesday and I’ve hardly eaten a thing since and anything I have eaten has gone straight through me.

The nausea has lessened but still there in the background.

not sure what to do now. I weighed myself this morning and have lost over 2kg since Wednesday.

I don’t think I’ll take any dose on Wednesday but wait for things to settle down and then have a rethink about going back to 2.5 dosage.

am gutted this has happened but I really can’t go in like this.

goldylock · 16/02/2026 21:05

@totallyfrusted

You poor thing 🙁. Yes, maybe going back to the 2.5mg is best thing to do.

The side effects you're getting are interfering with your life so best mitigate that.

YellowStockings · 16/02/2026 21:13

@totallyfrusted that sounds awful, sorry. Going back down sounds sensible, I know we're all here to lose weight but 2kg in under a week is too high (particularly re: risk of gallstones etc) and constant diarrhea sounds debilitating.

I can't remember, did you have this on 2.5 too? If so I wonder if it would be worth trying Wegovy instead - it seems to have the opposite effect if anything. Hope you feel better soon!

YellowStockings · 16/02/2026 21:15

@MrTiddlesTheCat could it be hormonal? I was so hungry yesterday, lo and behold my period is here today and I feel much more normal.

totallyfrusted · 16/02/2026 21:16

Thanks all, I did have a couple of days of diarrhea after my second jab but nothing like this.

am trying to drinks lots but even that feels a struggle

It's a possibilty. I'm 53 so should have left all that behind me. But I'm currently on hormone blocking medicine, so heaven knows what's going on with my levels.

FrostyFlo · 16/02/2026 21:23

Anyone really cold in the evenings ?
I'm sat here with my clothes on , an oodie , a blanket , and fingerless gloves . Still freezing !

Perimenoanti · 16/02/2026 21:26

I ordered my first 0.5 pen today after almost two months on 0.25mg. I know its time. My appetite is high. Going to have a piece of dark chocolate.

I switched to Bolt pharmacy for this for the offer.

HollywoodTease · 16/02/2026 21:28

My hands and feet are really cold, have been for a couple of weeks now.

Totallyfrusted have you taken loperamide? I have it for my IBS, it's good stuff....

Perimenoanti · 16/02/2026 21:32

I got some looks from a friend on Saturday who i maybe hadn't seen in three months. I know she checked me out because I look like i lost weight. My favourite hoodie feels like an oversized house dress. But the scales are stalling. Im around 700kcal below TDEE each day. Im frustrated with them not moving despite all the things I did not eat.

I know I just have to keep going.

Judging by my clothes i feel like I have lost much more weight than the scales would indicate. Anyone feel like this too? I heard its possible to lose inches but not lb.

Yes, but it currently a balmy -5 where I am. -19 predicted later this week. 😭

I’ve not heard of that but willing to try anything.

Ive been downing pepto bismol but I don’t think it’s doing anything

Perianth · 16/02/2026 22:08

Another one in thermals and an Oodie but still with chattering teeth. I usually run hot and am forever turning the radiators down or insisting we sleep with the window open, but not any more, much to the delight of my partner, who is always cold. Now we match!

@totallyfrusted sympathies - that sounds really miserable. If you are only really able to manage water, maybe try some electrolytes? Hope you feel more human again soon.

cautiouslyoptimistic3 · 16/02/2026 22:17

@totallyfrustedhope things improve for you. Moving down sounds like a sensible approach.
@Perimenoantithats definitely a thing - either a whoosh will happen soon and the scales reflect how you are feeling. Or that your body composition is changing. It’s all positive progress - and it’s the size that we want changing whatever it says on the scales.
im behind everybody as started towards the end of January. 4th jab done today. I’ve lost 0.8kg this week - the loss seems to happen on one or two days and then static the other days - I tend to jump on the scales most days. Planning on sticking with the 2.5 as suppression is good for a few days and I’m too scared of side effects.

Perimenoanti · 16/02/2026 23:08

@cautiouslyoptimistic3 yeah. I have a bit of water retention in my legs but still. Hopefully the whoosh will come soon. If my body composition changes its definitely not from exercise.

Up until last week, yes! Been better this week thankfully

I did measurements last week and will repeat in 4-5 weeks to see if there’s progress there especially if the scales stall. It confirmed what I’d thought - the only place shrinking is my boobs 🙄

HollywoodTease · 17/02/2026 01:25

totallyfrusted · 16/02/2026 21:35

Peptobismol is good but I think it only really works at the top end of the digestive system.

Loperamide is available otc if you're in the UK, it's the generic ingredient in Immodium. It generally dries things up (sorry if tmi) within an hour or so.

If you're getting cramps too, buscopan might help but take it about an hour after the loperamide otherwise it'll just flush right through!

In the meantime keep sipping water and as a PP said if its been going on for a few days you might need electrolytes - diarolyte is good but so is very diluted fruit squash if that's all you have!

Thankfully I've found the absolute opposite so far, since I started MJ in mid-Jan I've only had 2 IBS flares and both were very obviously a reaction to what I'd eaten (a rich hollandaise sauce on salmon the first time and a doner kebab the second!) Previously I would be rushing to the loo at least once or twice a week if not more. Keeping my fingers crossed that nothing changes in that respect when I go up to 5 later today!

HollywoodTease · 17/02/2026 01:29

I found a pair of £5 jeans in the next size down in Sainsburys today. Very snazzy, with zebra stripes.

I tried them on, managed to get them over my hips just but there's a good 4-5 inches needed to fasten them at the waist yet. So I'll be trying them on every week on weigh-in day and posting another small win when I can fasten them!

Checking in after jab no 5. I’m tensely waiting for side effects to show up as it’s my first 5mg dose and I suffered quite badly some weeks on 2.5. I lost nearly all suppression recently so I’m hoping that wil come back with the higher dose.

I’m eating so clean now - it’s like the MJ takes away all the resistance not to. No hankering after sugary treats, no rumbling stomach when I eat small portions or skip breakfast. I’m having to think about how to get all the food groups in the small amounts I’m actually eating.

SW: 13 st 6
CW 12 st 9
GW 11st then reassess

What are people doing about jabs whilst abroad? I’m wondering whether to skip a week when I go away. Avoid the hassle of transporting medication, struggling with side effects etc.

I travelled with my pen recently.

originally I thought I would just take a dose 2 days early and then 2 days late and leave the pen at home. But then I was reading comments from people who randomly got bad side effects on their 3rd week or whatever and worried about taking a dose early and being sick on a plane.
so at the last minute I shoved the pen in my handbag.

please make sure you check advice. But for me, the guidance out of the UK was to keep it in your carry on luggage. And I had a print out of my prescription with it. It took a little bit to find this on the app but I did.

I was thinking I would be asked about it at security but no one mentioned it anytime.

I was going somewhere cold so was confident that it wouldn’t exceed 27 degrees or fall to freezing anywhere. But next time, I’d buy a little insulated bag all the same to keep it
in.

it was much less of a thing than I expected it
to be: but then I realised there are of course a lot of people who travel with medication.

How are you all planning on surviving pancake day?

How are you all planning on surviving pancake day?

I can't lie, I'm not a massive pancake fan
So even if I was home I'd manage to avoid it
I don't see the harm in having one, you might even find they are too sweet and the 1 is fine
I don't restrict anything tbh

How are you all planning on surviving pancake day?

I'm planning on having these for lunch: https://thehappyfoodie.co.uk/recipes/herby-pea-pancakes/ (I WFH, so a home cooked lunch is doable), then we'll see if I still fancy a pancake for dinner. We've both sworn off sugar, so it will be a Breton style galette with egg, ham and maybe some mushrooms etc if it does happen!

Herby Pea Pancakes

This recipe for plant-packed pea pancakes from the Food For Life cookbook is free from ultra-processed ingredients and has 8 plants per portion.
