@Onenotsosmallstep yes she does! I need to remember this when I despair and feel like I'll never get on the chart.

Speaking of... Is there an 'official' chart? I've just checked and I'm BMI 41 now. Surely must be there, or nearly!

I’m still fucked off as I’ve apparently put on another pound! I just don’t get it. :-( i think i’m eating bang on 1600 calories which is apparently a 800 deficit. I’m worried that I’m going a bit insane. Does this sound like 1600 calories ?

Breakfast

Protein wrap, 2 eggs, 50 g smoked tofu (air fried), mushrooms, tomatoes

Meal

Smoked mackerel fillet, small mozzarella ball, 6 airfryer chips, lettuce, mange tout, tomatoes, spinach, onion , boiled egg

Plate

2 baby potatoes, Greek yoghurt coleslaw with carrot and cabbage, ½ corn on cob , 3 slices of roast ham

Snacks

2 slices Wafer thin ham, small cheese cube, scotch pancake + Nutella, 4 strawberries, an Orange

This seems like a huge amount of food to me. All healthy, but lots of it. If I ate one of those meals per day, over 4 days (inc the snack as a meal) and nothing else - I think at best I'd stay the same. I may even gain.

I'm 5f4 (162cm), 12st9 currently (from 17st11) no time for exercise, do about 5000-7000 steps per day at work.

I have a theory that we are sold the idea that not eating is disordered eating, and that is perpetuated by marketing for the food industry.

Because if everyone realised that healthy but non-active people (which are a majority of the population) don't need to eat breakfast - What becomes of Kelloggs and Nutella etc?

And if the answer to losing weight is to not be afraid of not eating meals, then what becomes of the diet food industry who tell you that its better to eat healthy food than just... not eat.

I find that one meal a day (OMAD) is really easy and fits my life well. I keep the meal 'clean' and healthy. Plus done days I skip the meal and fast. My Mum and in-law are horrified. They consider it unhealthy. I think they are just brainwashed into what they are told is healthy, rather than listening to their body. I listen right mine. I sleep well, have loads of energy, feel amazing, and am dropping out of obesity. It cannot logically be unhealthy.

SilenceInside · 04/02/2026 21:18

@PearlTeapot I think the NHS BMI calculator shows you on its chart from BMI 40 or less. Anything above that and it doesn’t show the chart it just tells you your BMI. So you are nearly there!

AmberLime · 04/02/2026 21:22

Another thing I've noticed is how habit-forming eating/drinking is, which could lead to this expectation in a population that you should eat, but its psychological.

For example

I decided that as a New Year Resolution I would fill a 1 litre bottle of water and drink it on my 1h commute to work every day. I'm a captive audience, nothing much to do, makes me drink 1l before work. All good.

It's been a month. I've previously never drank more than my usual 1 cup of coffee before work. I now find myself thirsty 10 minutes into my commute. I'm so used to having this extra water that I crave it.

About 2 weeks ago I decided to also fill the beaker for the commute home. I'm already finding myself thirsty again about 10 mins into my journey home.

I seem to have taught myself this healthy habit, now my mind is perpetuating it. I can't really be thirsty, because I never used to be thirsty before I was having these 2 litre drinks at routines times. So it must be psychosomatic.

I think my relationship with food is also psychosomatic and I just need to train myself into new habits.

Ah yes makes sense! I did it to see and you’re right it didn’t show me a chart. Just said I was 41. So nearly there! Thanks!

@AmberLime we quickly get used to habits don’t we? Last week I had dessert every day and now this week I feel sugar pangs at that time of day.

So sorry about your son @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne I hope they get him sorted soon

Springflowers2 · 05/02/2026 05:37

eibbed999 · 04/02/2026 17:01

I'm sorry you're struggling @Springflowers2 - that is disheartening, especially if you're dealing with fatigue on top of everything else. Cutting your calories too low will be counter productive in the end probably - you'll be hungry, more tired, and maybe eventually regain anyway. Is there a way you can eat something different? I remember you mentioning in the past that isn't always easy for you, and am I right in thinking you're vegan? I'd suggest a couple of days of paleo if not - but as others have said, maybe something to just shake it up a bit? Even - horror of horrors - a couple of days of eating more? I know it's scary, but sometimes it seems to me that a gain sometimes does you good - gets your loss going again. But also, do remind yourself of how well you've done to have lost so much already!

Thanks ..I clearly need to change something..if I go down the path of a few days of eating more ,that would very quickly spiral with me ,in to not being able to stop and overeating .
But eating something different would be possible, and I've been trying to find some acceptable high protein foods ..I am vegan ,yes well remembered 😊..
And getting adequate protein has always been an issue..I've bought some chickpeas and tofu to make a start

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 05/02/2026 07:01

Wow @canaritini you look amazing!!

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne Wishong your son all the best. Hope they sort him out soon.

GnomeDePlume · 05/02/2026 08:36

Weigh in and jab day

SW 140kg BMI 54.7
CW 96.6kg BMI 37.7
GW 63kg BMI 24.6

15 stone 3 lbs in old money.

I was clearing some paperwork and found a record which shows that I had a higher starting weight than I thought. So I started at 22 stone 1lb.

Weightloss has really slowed up now. It is a bit scary to see how much I need to be in control of my eating to even achieve these very modest losses. It is so easy for portion size to creep up a little bit without noticing.

Winter probably doesnt help. I'm not going to our allotment and my job and winter hobby (sewing) are both very sedentary. At least I am going to the gym.

Roll on retirement (3 years, 11 months, I'm not counting, honestly).

SnowWhiteisMyFavourite · 05/02/2026 08:48

Mid-week win! Not my official weigh-in day, but a win is a win! I’m 90kg, just under 200lbs!! That’s a loss of 32kg, and only 8 more to go to reach my second goal weight. I’m feeling very happy 😃

Only negative so far: I’m starting to get a visible turkey neck. I’ve been using neck cream but I don’t think that helps. Is there anything I should/could do, or is this one of the battles I’ll have to lose?

MCR24 · 05/02/2026 09:38

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne I hope your son is ok and they are able to figure out the cause, it must be scary for him.

Weigh in today, the scales finally moved a bit and I've made it to the 10s!

Lost 0.7kg / 1 lb and 8.7 oz

SW: 142.8kg / 22 stone, 6 lb and 13.1 oz
CW: 69.2kg / 10 stone, 12 lb and 9 oz
Total loss: 73.6kg / 11 stone, 8 lb and 4.2 oz
BMI: 50.8 / 24.6
To get to mid BMI: 9.2kg / 1 stone, 6 lb and 4.5 oz

My date to reach target keeps moving further and further away, app now says mid April but I think it will be longer than that really.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 05/02/2026 11:35

I'm at peace with the slow losses.

I'm inching towards my final goal. My first goal was 10st 10lb, and I've got there.

So I'm aiming for 10st 2lb. I only need to lose another 7lb to get there.

That will take about ten weeks, I think.

It's fine. Slow is normal. After 25 months, I'm nearly there.

Keep going, everyone.

I've got one
It seemed to develop over night ..
I'm sure it didn't,but by the time I noticed it it was very obvious.
It did bother me a lot at first ..
But it was a good swap for 10 stone of .
I slap some face cream on when I remember, even with the pot of creamy the bed ,I still forget.
I've got the same wrinkles at the top of my legs ,and I swim a lot too.
It is what is it is ...would I rather go back to my start weight and not be a wrinkle dog
No ,I would not
I'm learning to accept my wrinkle dog status

user593 · 05/02/2026 12:19

@SnowWhiteisMyFavourite I’ve got a bit of neck wobble as well. I’ve been using my normal facial anti aging routine on my neck too. I think it’s helped a bit - or it might just be time. I imagine there’s some fancy laser/pulse treatment you can get to help but I suspect it will continue to improve over time.

mamabeeboo · 05/02/2026 12:55

Hope everyone is doing well here. I know some of you are flying, some are maintaining, but we are all here for it, weightloss isn't linear.

I'm really trying to focus in general at my well-being, not just weight. I have stopped looking at my phone before bed and instead I am reading, and my sleep has improved so much over the last week. I sleep better, sleep deeper and I wake up fully refreshed.

I'm a fasting fan and I know that insulin plays a bigger role in weightloss than the calorie model. A guy came on DOAC and talked about it, so would recommend if anyone has time, to listen (on 2x speed because he talks very slowly!) and it might give some of you a few ideas - it definitely has for me.

This guy says if you're doing OMAD to eat lunch rather than struggle through the day until dinner. Because, assuming you're eating a good level of protein, it should see you through to the rest of the day and would make life easier. And I don't know why I didn't think of that before, it makes complete sense.

Anyway, I hope this helps someone. I know I keep banging on about fasting, sorry🤐

Re the turkey neck sufferers - I really noticed my new turkey neck after about a 4/5 stone loss, I moisturise my neck religiously both morning and evening and it’s definitely righted itself, took a while but there is hope - plus I’m 58 so I didn’t expect it to improve. Hang on in there!

MCR24 · 05/02/2026 13:12

@mamabeeboo I'd prefer my OMAD to be at lunchtime too but for practical reasons (work facilities, short lunch and other people at home) I'll need to stick with it in the evening. I'd love to not have to cook after work and gain some time back!

PearlTeapot · 05/02/2026 16:40

I'm still in throes of snacking every day between lunch and dinner and can't seem to stop. Hoping once I'm home I'll build new habits and also won't have access to all the junk I have here. I have sensibly nearly eaten it all 😁so none to take home with me.

Including a 20 pack of kinder buenos one of the staff bought me for my birthday!

It’s vain I know but my neck has been really bothering me. I’ve started taking my (admittedly long winded) skincare routine down to my new found collarbones so you’ve given me hope here @Iwouldratherbesinging. At 41 I have a definite turkey wattle 🤦‍♀️

user593 · 05/02/2026 18:26

@Onenotsosmallstep I’m 41 too and it’s really been bothering me as well but I’m hopeful it will correct itself 🤞 I’m going to speak to my facialist next week to see if she has any tips. I’ll let you know if I get any useful info!

GnomeDePlume · 05/02/2026 18:44

I think I have a NSD (Non Scale Defeat)?

Since being on monjaro my blood tests have gone a bit haywire - I have an autoimmune clotting disorder for which I take warfarin. Latest test results mean my warfarin dosage is going up and I am going to be back on frequent blood tests, weekly to start with.

Conversation with warfarin nurse today and she was the first HCP to be faintly annoyed by my weightloss!

Iwouldratherbesinging · 05/02/2026 18:44

I did spend a few months doing facial exercises but then gave up, but I do the ‘push your tongue against the roof of your mouth’ a lot. The prai neck cream was all the rage a while ago but I didn’t feel it works any better than what I’m currently using.
I use a retinol facial oil at night plus whatever serum I have and a collagen cream and hyaluronic acid serum in the morning.
i also bought one of those cheap little hand held led vibrating things which feels like it might be doing something

have you had an update about your son @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne? Thinking of you 💐

I've got one of those but it isn't for my face..........

It's been very useful since my stupid husband walked out.

Update on DS.

He's regained the use of his legs and been discharged again. He'll be followed up in neurology out-patients. Surely it would've made more sense to investigate and diagnose him while he was on the premises. Weird. And I'm 100% sure it'll happen again.

Paisley hospital paid for a taxi to get him home, at midnight (!) which must have been very expensive, at it's a hundred miles away.
