Are you finding the suppression ok at the moment, or are you finding that you are getting hungrier?

You could try cutting out the snacks if that's something that seems possible at the moment, to reduce your calorie total to maybe 1400 and see if that makes a difference.

diggitydoo · 02/02/2026 22:38

Yeah I do feel hungrier. I’m just on 5 mg still.

when I first started I didn’t feel like snacking .

I mean they are little snacks though. The ham and cheese was literally postage stamp size. Then 4 strawberries and a spoon of Greek yoghurt
the scotch pancake was one my daughter had made at school so she wanted me to have it

SilenceInside · 02/02/2026 22:47

You could try the intermittent fasting or OMAD approach instead maybe. That has worked for me in the past to get through a slow down or plateau. Just doing something different for a few days sometimes helps, regardless of what the “different” is really.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 02/02/2026 23:14

Go up a dose @diggitydoo or try jabbing every five days.

OP posts:
diggitydoo · 03/02/2026 08:41

I don’t really want to do the intermittent fasting or omad as I have a history of disordered eating and I’m trying really hard to Eat in a normal way. Especially around my kids as I grew up with a mother with an eating disorder.

Which should be possible when my TDEE is 2540 for a sedentary person, which I have been using even though am not actually I’m lightly active at the very least . So eating 1600 is a huge deficit anyway.

I log everything using ChatGPT and I just asked it my average weekly calories, macros and activities over the last month .

Last month – your averages
Calories eaten
Average intake: ~1,620 kcal/day

This includes normal days around 1,450–1,700 and a few higher social meals.

Macros (daily average)

Protein
~115 g/day
≈ 28–30%

Carbohydrates
~150 g/day
≈ 36–38%

Fat
~60–65 g/day
≈ 32–34%

Fibre
~20–25 g/day

So your typical split is roughly:

Protein 30%
Carbs 35–38%
Fat 32–35%

.

Activity (weekly average)

Cycling
~3–4 hours/week

Steps/walking
~3,500–4,000 steps/day
~25,000–28,000 per week

Swimming/gym/misc
~1 hour/week

Estimated additional burn
~2,000–2,300 kcal/week
≈ 285–330 kcal/day

i just don’t get it. Unless ChatGPT is just telling me what I want to hear. But I do tell it portion sizes . I either write how many cups or spoons of something, or I know the capacity of the bowl I eat from, I tell it how much in weight either by knowing what percentage of a packet of something or if I’m unsure I weigh something. The only time I guess is if sometimes I’m out and about and have to grab something or eat something someone else has made. I am logging absolutely everything, even the incidental scotch pancakes from school cookery sessions and slivers of cheese.

I’ve got 2 more 5mg doses in this pen, so I’ll try hold my nerve and hope for a whoosh for 2 weeks. Disappointing though as I can’t really afford to go up again so soon. I’m hoping in my more sane moments that this will all just whoosh off soon, it’s only been 12 days without a loss. I was 143.5 12 days ago and now am 144 this morning ( after going up and down a kilo every day or so) . ChatGPT thinks it’s hormonal fluid retention. I have had to change the brand of my hrt patch as the previous ones I developed an allergic reaction too, and I’ve had sore boobs sine then. And I’ve also been ill, am post viral today with a cold sore. Haven’t been sleeping well.

ho hum. 🤨

SilenceInside · 03/02/2026 08:50

You could try logging your calories in something like MyFitnessPal or one of the other free apps for tracking, and see if that compares to what ChatGPT is coming up with.

It seems extremely unlikely that you are eating more calories than your maintenance level, and you are likely eating in a calorie deficit and it's just taking time to show on the scales. Especially if there are other things going on like illness and hormonal changes.

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 03/02/2026 09:09

@diggitydoo it sounds like you're doing all the right things, if it's only been a short while I'd try and keep the faith and stick with it, it's probably hormonal and will resolve itself soon. The only thing I might do is recheck your TDEE if you've lost weight since you last calculated it, but it's unlikely to have gone down by enough to take you out of a deficit

Iwouldratherbesinging · 03/02/2026 10:40

Really frustrating for you @diggitydoo. I would maybe try a bigger deficit just for a week to see if it makes a difference, just cutting the snacks for a week should be easy, or try having your breakfast later in the day (brunch) and cutting lunch for a few days.
we’ve had a few on this thread over the months who have needed a bigger deficit than what was calculated.
I do get what you mean about omad/if and disordered eating, for me that’s why I avoid calorie counting but love intermittent fasting, it takes away the stress of counting calories. A few months ago I counted calories for just a week to make sure I was on track, doing it for a week was manageable. Could you try something for just one week to see if you can pinpoint what’s causing the gains?

Doggymummar · 03/02/2026 11:58

Have you told chat gpt to use UK measures.
? Just wondered because it's American it might be measuring a different spoon to you or do you say 2 x 25 ml spools of yoghurt for example and is it a flat spoon or a heaped spoon. I would weigh everything spoons can be wildly different wights, and therefore calories

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 03/02/2026 12:12

Well I got my blood results, and while they are fab in terms of weight-related things like cholesterol and HbA1C, which I am obviously pleased about, it does look like they are going to want me to reduce my thyroxine dose, which will probably slow down my weight loss 😭

SilenceInside · 03/02/2026 13:26

Great result on the cholesterol and HBA1C results @RenegadeKeeblerElf . I don't know much about the thyroid results and thyroxine, but hopefully it won't have too big an impact on your weight loss if they do change your dose.

Thanks. Basically, high thyroid levels cause weight loss, so my losses may have been artificially high for a while. Decreasing my meds will make my levels normal, but potentially remove that artificial boost. So effectively I might have been cheating for the last few months 🤣

SilenceInside · 03/02/2026 13:38

Definitely not cheating! Just a feature of your current medication that may have had a positive effect on your weight loss.

EnterSandfan · 03/02/2026 13:57

I had genuinely never heard of the TDEE calculator before I started following this thread. Soooo glad i know about it now. Years ago I lost weight by literally living in the gym daily and doing several sports (wrecked my knees in the process) but I genuinely thought if I was active and ate just under 2000 calories a day that was the way to lose weight (I thought 2000 just because that was the number of cals people always said women needed). It's no wonder as soon as I wasn't participating in my sports anymore that the weight flew back on and then some😆 At my current weight I need to stick to 1200 cals to lose 2lbs a week, god I wish I'd known that years ago.
Having the opposite problem this week and struggling to eat enough, I guessed at calories for the last couple of weeks but I tracked properly yesterday and only had circa 800 cals so my husband was telling me to eat more. Pizza night tonight though so that's going to be more than enough cals going in!

PearlTeapot · 03/02/2026 16:46

@diggitydoo sounds like illness and hormones are to blame. I'd try Nutracheck for logging everything, it's a brilliant app.

I can't eat more than 1200 or I gain, I'm only 5foot1.

I'm 5' 3" and I need to stick to fewer than 1200, too.

Also, not eating for 18 hours. IF works for me.

If I get stuck I do OMAD for a few days.

I've lost another pound! I'm 10st 10lb now.
If I lose another stone I'll finally be at a healthy BMI.

That's amazing you are doing fab I hate being so close my app says end of April but I wouldn't be surprised if it's more like September

diggitydoo · 03/02/2026 21:21

I’m 5 foot 9 !

thanks all xx

eibbed999 · 04/02/2026 07:28

My nose has been freezing cold for weeks now. I keep holding it in my hands, or putting my face under the covers at night. Honestly, it's hilarious - my hubbie has said he's going to make me a tiny hot water bottle just for my hooter! I know a few of you have mentioned being cold, and I haven't generally felt it - apart from this! It's pretty funny really.

mamabeeboo · 04/02/2026 10:42

@diggitydoo if you don't want to do IF, then how about cut out the snacks? I've noticed that 200cals here and there can be the difference between a loss and a maintain. It's just about trying to keep your insulin low so your body uses its fat stores. But of course I'm mindful of your past ED so please ignore if not helpful. I'd be the first to admit that what works for one person doesn't work for another.

I find the TDEE calculators online also very guesswork-y. And the simple TDEE-500 cals doesn't work for everyone, especially those of us who have yo-yoed up and down. Mine says I would maintain on 2000cals,but I know for a fact I'd gain on it 🤔 my daily cals range from 1000 during IF day to 1600 towards day 6.

Anyway I've got my 5K run in 6 weeks and I haven't ran since November and I'm being a bit of a chicken because it's a bit cold outside 😂 hoping at least another stone will come off in this time.

Springflowers2 · 04/02/2026 11:49

So I have not lost any weight since the end of December now
This is getting me down now
I'm paying a lot of money to just keep my weight the same .
I'm also past the point ..weight wise ...at which I would never of gone on the injections..
I'm only wanting to loose another 3/4 stone ..which when you have lost 10 already does not seem that much ..
I'm thinking if I don't loose weight in February,I may think about coming of the jabs .
I can't work out if I'm eating more (possible)or weight loss has come to an end for me .
I remember past attempts where to get lower than I am currently I had to drop my calories very low ..which I don't particularly want to do .
I've been on chat gtp asking for advice and it says I should be loosing weight on what I'm eating..but I'm really not .
I don't know at this point what's going on

Springflowers2 · 04/02/2026 11:52

Also ,I am incredibly, incredibly tired ..all I want to do is spend my day in bed ,I'm counting the hours till I go go back to bed ..I'm not looking forward to anything or wanting to do anything..I just want to sleep.
This can't be normal...could it be the mounjaro..I have no idea

SilenceInside · 04/02/2026 11:58

@Springflowers2it’s inevitable I think that weight loss slows as you lose the weight. You just can’t create the calorie deficit as easily as before as your daily calorie need reduces. The weightloss curve on a graph is an exponential decay curve, which means you lose weight quickly at the start (normally) and then the rate at which you lose gets less and less until you reach a natural plateau. The way to move out of that plateau is to do something different. Further calorie restriction is hard at this point, as it leaves you on not much food. Adding in exercise is one way to shake things up which is what I’m currently doing as my weight loss has slowed down too. I also need to lose about 10 lbs, which may take me another 3 to 6 months at the rate I’m currently losing.

Thankyou ..I do swim a few times a week ..but that looks like it's not enough.
Yes I clearly need to change something.
I suppose at least I'm not putting weight on ..

SilenceInside · 04/02/2026 12:07

I try to think of this phase as like practice for maintenance, which might include staying on Mounjaro for a while whilst I'm at or around my target weight. I want to taper off, if I can, or stay on a lower dose for a while so that I stay at a non-obese or non-overweight weight for a decent length of time before going it alone without Mounjaro, I think. I just really want to avoid any significant rebound.
