Another NSV. Weekly shop today is about £40 down on my "usual" as I've bought fresh ingredients to batch cook and freeze, and I haven't bought crisps, biscuits or wine!

If that stays the same my mounjaro's going to pretty much pay for itself! 😮

I thought mine would go down but it hasn’t because though im eating less I’m buying more expensive things like prawns and salmon and avocado and fewer cheapies like bread 😭

It will be worth it when I’m super slim with radiant skin and bouncy hair!

goldylock · 31/01/2026 16:10

Had 2 good things happen today, re: MJ; one being a bit of a realisation moment today...

I popped into a pharmacy today (one of those chain discount pharmacies) and, 5mg mounjaro is e75 cheaper there than current pharmacy.

I get my prescription sent straight to the pharmacy of my choice from a list (I don't see the prescription) but I can't see those pharmacy shop chains on their list but I've sent a query to them to see if it can be sent to them next time. e75 is too much wonga to let it slide.

Secondly, I was up early to watch the Australian Open Women's tennis final at my friend's house (equally a tennis nutter). We made omlettes with cheese and tomatoes and coffee.

It's 8 hours later, and am still stuffed. OK, I know protein is longer to digest, but I'd have been hungry by now if I'd eaten an omelette sans MJ.

So, seems like MJ works best with more protein. I just copped that today....

I was eating weetabix, going "why my appetite not suppressed."

Going to have to up the protein, but protein (to me) is the least fun food group!!

Feeling really fed up looking at everyone losing in their first week. Started Wed first jab and my hunger has been just as bad as ever. No noticeable change. No chance I’m going to lose anything this first week! I was holding on to this being the answer and now I am feeling like I’m going to be the one person it doesn’t work for.

I'm sure it also depends on the amount of weight you have to lose .
( I have a lot 6/7 stone ! gulp ) and had a good first loss week and are now have taken my 4th Jab , I only lost a lb last weigh in .
How much are you hoping to lose ?

blackandwhitefluffycat · 31/01/2026 16:33

@goldylock I eat a lot of protein so maybe that’s why my appetite has been so suppressed from the start. It makes sense though as pre MJ carbs made me hungrier quicker.

This week I discovered (through a holiday related group I’m on) that MJ in the USA costs around 1000 dollars per pen! 😱 So we’re very lucky here. I do recall when MJ prices went up people in multiple other countries saying that the increased price was still cheap compared to what they pay!

goldylock · 31/01/2026 16:46

@blackandwhitefluffycat

Oh my goodness. 1000 dollars 😳
😳😳

No wonder there is a sort of "wonderment" about MJ over there, because regular people cant afford to try it. So it's sort of mystical.

Still mystical this side of the world, but less so I think (am in Ireland/euros) but yea, 1000 dollars....Jeenie mac...

Yea, I am going to struggle upping to more protein. I am quite a bland eater. But the thoughts of eating a plain chicken breast to up protein makes me wanna chug.....i suppose at least can have omelettes!

Octagoneaway · 31/01/2026 17:43

So today I’m day 9 after my 4th 2.5 jab. I didn’t think I was getting much appetite suppression, but I’ve been to the shop and will confess to buying Doritos 🤦‍♀️, so it must have been doing something. I’m thinking about wine too, but I have to work tomorrow, so should be able to resist that. Then as soon as I get home I’ll do my first 5mg jab and hopefully be back on track.

And I’ve lost 4.5kg in a month. Really pleased with that as a great start!!!

Peachypips78 · 31/01/2026 18:43

InstantRegret · 31/01/2026 15:13

Me too @Peachypips78 ! No suppression at all yet. Could easily scoff a family size choc bar if I allowed myself. Relying on will power not to.
It’s early days though, try to stay positive 😃
I’ve just done a big food shop with lots of healthy food though so that’s progress for me as my diet up to now has been truly awful!

Mine too. Esp the last month! I just ate a brownie and maybe a minute change- I found it far too sweet and didn’t enjoy it as much 😮😮😮😮

I need to lose 3.5 stone ugh. I’ll still be in the overweight bracket at that - top of normal is 10.5 stone but I don’t look well at that weight! So 11.5 is my goal.
In fact- I need to make it official:

Start weight: 14st 13
Current weight: 14st 13
Goal weight: 11 st 7

Week one, day four.

Peachypips78 · 31/01/2026 18:47

Thank you for making me realise that I am not going to lose a stone overnight everyone 🤣

I know! 😱

I’m vegetarian which makes it even blander (eggs, natural yoghurt, lentils)! 😂

I’ve been wondering whether I’ve been eating too many eggs, as in the USA they recommend limiting eggs to less than I’m eating, however that’s old advice in the UK. There doesn’t seem to have been a decent study done on eating them; from what I can work out some studies showed they caused high cholesterol/ heart disease, but they didn’t take into account how they were eaten (I.e. whether as part of regular fry ups or boiled!).

If you can find it (DH used to make his own in the bread maker) seitan is really high in protein. You can add all sorts of flavouring to it as well.

FrothyCothy · 31/01/2026 20:12

Oh hang on, unless you’re celiac in which case ignore that!

I eat veggie about 3 days a week. Like today, no meat.

Not consciously, just happens that way.

Must look more into lentils!

AddUpToNothing · 31/01/2026 21:04

Evening all, checking in for jab number 5 tonight. Had the golden dose, managed to withdraw it without any issues. So ended up taking 3.33mg this evening, so will see how I get on this week before moving up to 5 next week.

It was a loss of 2lb this week, so a total of 9lb this month. While obviously I’d have like to hit that magic target of a stone during the first month, I’m still happy with my loss - a whole baby lighter!!

I have been counting my calories this week after staying the same weight last week. Just to check that I am in a deficit and whether I need to go lower. How many calories is everyone aiming for?

I thought that had been debunked years ago, and it turned out the cholesterol in the eggs doesn’t translate to human cholesterol levels.

cravingmilkshake · 31/01/2026 21:11

I took my first 5 mg last night , and 24 hours later , I’ve been sick twice and so bloated .

I had chicken breast with paprika and a stack load of broccoli for lunch, 3 litres of water , 80 grams of spaghetti and some bolognese and it’s sat at the top of my stomach all night until I’ve been sick .

laying in bed now , still a bloating pain , and hoping I fall asleep through it or it subsides soon.

horrible .

Oh god you poor thing. And thanks for the heads up - I’ve got my first five in a week so ill be careful not to not eat too much the first day or two until I know how it’s going down!

Not worldwide it seems. US sites are saying up to 7 a week is ok, and I’m eating more than that.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 31/01/2026 21:44

My dr has just approved 2.5 mg for the next 3 months for me.

Oh no I’m so sorry @cravingmilkshake. That’s exactly what happened to me last week and it’s awful. I now completely avoid eating anything rich before bed on day 2-4 after the jab as it just sits in my throat. Hope it passes soon for you 🤞

Octagoneaway · 31/01/2026 23:23

Ok, so I definitely need to work on my self control whilst I’m on mj. I’ve not done well at all this evening, I kept snacking. Looking forward to the next dose tomorrow, and need to work on creating good habits for when I’m finished.

JHound · 01/02/2026 02:44

Second jab today. I think last week was a minor placebo effect but overall did not notice much impact. I have read online people said 2.5MJ is just to start you getting used to it and many felt no impact until they have been on MJ for 4 weeksz

JHound · 01/02/2026 02:46

notcomfortable · 31/01/2026 06:33

Good morning all
Sorry I haven't been active, still training for my new job and 12 hour shifts are kicking my ass.
I have another loss this morning of one kg 🥳 so that's 4kg lost so far.
I do have a 5mg pen and I think once I go through that, I will be done. I think because I don't have as much to lose this time around, its just been a hard slog and I don't really want to pay 124 odd pounds just to feel exactly the same, when I think I could manage on my own. Plus my hair is still falling out so I think its the best choice I can make
I will stay active as much as possible until then 🫶

The hair loss is scaring me - I don’t have much to lose to start with!

Howmuchhowlong · 01/02/2026 04:43

I'm scared of hair loss and muscle loss too. On my 3 weigh ins I've lost 2lbs a week on average, so sticking with 2.5 for as long as I continue to lose
