I hope it’s okay to start a new thread as we are getting dangerously close to the end of thread 1

My current stats are

MJ 2.5mg just taken dose three
planning on staying on 2.5mg for my next pen
SW: 13 stone 9.4lbs
Week 1: lost 11 lbs
Week 2: lost 3 lbs
Total weightloss: 1 stone (a small jack russel terrier)
GW: 9 stone 7

We have some newbies joining mid month so let’s cheer them on - we’ve got this ladies!

1st weigh-in, 2nd dose today.

SW 99.8 kg
CW 99.45 kg
WL 0.4 kg
1st GW 90kg

Not unexpected as I've been away for 4 days out of the 7 so although there's been a fair bit of walking and I've tried to make healthy food choices I've not been able to track calories and there's also been quite a lot of alcohol!

I'll admit to being a bit disappointed, as although sensible me knows this isn't a miracle cure or even a quick fix to see so little movement in the first week is kind of disheartening.

Still, onwards and downwards as they say! I'm at home this week so tracking etc will be easier.

blackandwhitefluffycat · 27/01/2026 11:07

@MJ2026 from what you say it’s definitely working if you’re feeling better and you’ve noticed a difference in your clothes etc! Don’t be disheartened by what the scales say! Where you are in your cycle can definitely affect it, as it does for me.

goldylock · 27/01/2026 11:30

@MJ2026

I can empathise. Having a similar journey.

As an example, I played 3 hours of tennis last night (we're talking hard hitting, moving around the court), played 1.5 hrs the night before, with a walk before. Went to the gym Saturday. The exercise is normal.

I am fat fit. The extra weight makes it harder to move. I imagine/day dream how it will feel when that extra weight I've been lugging around is gone.

And it will be gone.

I haven't had a snack since I started 2.5mg 4 weeks ago. So now am questioning actually how bad was my diet (I didn't think it was that bad, bar crisp fiend).

And am down 4 lbs. My clothes are looser. And am more toned. So, am not going to rely on the scales. I have fat over muscle, and muscle weighs heavier. I also carry my weight around my stomach.

So, this is my battle: To not get disheartened. The scales are moving, if only very slowly. And to move up to 5 mg this week. Am also going to start retaking Starflower oil, as I know hormones are playing a part in this also.

Keep going!

Alltheyellowbirds · 27/01/2026 11:31

I’ve just ordered my second pen. Went up to 5, hope I made the right call. I don’t plan on ramping up any faster than necessary from this point, but I do want to progress from the initial loading dose and see what happens.

Havent really had side effects thus far so fingers crossed.

Been reading everyone's updates! Sorry to those who are finding this bit tricky!

I'm half-way through the second week which is also the run up to my period. Finding myself feeling hunger/cravings much more this week. It's taking real willpower - the WLI are definitely not dampening that for me.

Today I've had:

  • A (homemade) caramel latte
  • A kiwi
  • A small portion of cocoa/greek yoghurt chia seed and oat pudding
  • a decent sized bowl of homemade lentil and veg soup
  • a medium portion of homemade chicken bhuna and rice.

I don't feel like the food intake is small, but I AM HUNGRY. Maybe it's the lack of sugar?

What are you all eating?

I always have bluberries, turkish yogurt and granola for breakfast. Today I had and egg and caviar (very swedish) roll from the hospital cafe. Tonight I'll have 2 tortilla wraps with bbq chicken, cucumber, avocado, and pickled red onion.

My dietician says I should also have a mid morning and mid afternoon snack of a piece of fruit or a crispbread with a slice of cheese or similar. But most days I don't have either since starting mj as im just not hungry.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 27/01/2026 13:14

I googled which animal I'd lost in the first 2 weeks. A tree-kangeroo! I'd be impressed if I had a scooby what it was.

Thank you for relying. It really helps knowing I’m not alone. All I’ve seen on SM is people who have lost tons of weight and just my expectation was I would be fast too. I know someone who has finished medical school awaiting a job. I spoke to him and he reassured me a bit. Of course he only and is strictly guidelines but gave me what I needed to hear. He told me the first 4 weeks are the dose to get essentially get your body used to the medication. That some people are lucky and lose weight but not everyone will. So that’s helped me a bit. He said the next dose will be the one to watch so fingers crossed. Now in 4 weeks time I could be back here with another similar update and cursing him for his lies 😁 Hopefully not but just gonna take my 5mgs next dose and keep doing what I’m doing.

BooptotheFloof · 27/01/2026 13:57

I’ve just ordered my second pen - and after a lot of overthinking I’ve gone for another 2.5

Im already 18lbs down (with 40 still to go but I am happy with 2-3lbs a week I think - might see how I feel later in the month!)

I’ve lost a red eared slider turtle apparently

Side effects - I have a random one - I am dreaming so much more than normal - I think because my body is digesting slower but I’m so tired when I wake up as I’ve been busy all night 😂

2026istheyear · 27/01/2026 14:15

@BooptotheFloof I am also having more and very vivid dreams - an interesting side effect!

CatNoBag · 27/01/2026 14:31

In terms of visualising the weight lost, I like to think in terms of packs of butter (because I'm losing fat!), 1kg = 4 packs of butter, 1lb = just over two packs of butte. So far, I've lost 12 packs of butter 😁

CatNoBag · 27/01/2026 14:35

If I reach my target - that's 98 packs of butter!

BooptotheFloof · 27/01/2026 14:53

Wowzers I’ve lost 33 packs of butter! I love that comparison 😂

I like to visualise the weight loss by my kids weights 😂
My daughter weighs 15kg
So back last year when I lost 30kg, I lost two hers! I couldn't believe it

blackandwhitefluffycat · 27/01/2026 16:53

Another lb off today so 17lbs total - which is a European wildcat! Or 34 packs of butter!

Etherealcelestialbeing · 27/01/2026 16:53

Ok I need recommendations please!!

Constipation is getting silly now - I haven’t had a BM for a week now, since I had the bad diarrhoea last Tuesday. I am drinking soooo much water and have eaten seeds, fresh fruit and veg and prunes every day for the last 5 days.
Can anyone recommend a product to try please? I have had bad experiences in the past with dulcolax and senokot.

I daren’t weigh this week as I’m sure I won’t have lost!

Have you tried sauerkraut? Eat it as a side or a snack.

Go to the Dr's, they can prescribe something I'm sure

So I've already lost 28 packs of butter (7 kg)? That's a heck of a lot of butter. I see some changes in my body shape already but not that much. My brain is now running away with images of my body covered in butter, trying to work out where it would go. 😲😂

GreenLemonade · 27/01/2026 17:18

Funny you talk about visualising.

I uploaded a photo of myself to ChatGPT and asked it to generate an image of me at my target weight. I wish I hadn’t done it. The generated image looked great, but now I can’t help comparing it to what I see in the mirror, and it makes me feel awful about my appearance. Before that, I actually thought I looked okay.

goldylock · 27/01/2026 17:25

@Etherealcelestialbeing

Chew as much gum as you can from bottle of Extra sugar free gum and also drink water at the same time.

It's weird isn't it?! I tend to lose weight from my face, shoulders and chest before anywhere else (and of course it's my belly I'm desperate to lose), I've probably lost one pack of butter just from my face so far 😂

Whatstfpoint · 27/01/2026 18:02

I have lost 86pc of my large British shorthair male so far 😃

mumlove1234 · 27/01/2026 18:11

I took my 4th dose today and I am so cold!! I am never cold always moaning about the heat in the office but gosh my hands are like blocks of ice today.

My loss to date is 4.4kg (9.8lbs) but the majority of that was in the first week. I am
hoping next pen I get some better losses as it’s so expensive I don’t want to be on this forever, hoping for 12-18 months and can then stop. I am going to stay on 2.5mg pen as I have lost and hoping as previous poster has said that the second pen brings good losses. I know that realistically I wouldn’t have lost what I have so far if not for mj but guess I was thinking it would be big losses each week. Slow and consistent is best though.

I haven’t had issues with this but my DH did - until he discovered prune juice! It works for him!

BG2015 · 27/01/2026 18:14

@mumlove1234ive been cold too, particularly my feet. Not noticed it so much lately but it’s been a definite side affect for me
