I like the Aldi ones which have 20g protein in them. Will try pick some up tomorrow.

It's so annoying because thr hunger levels feel disproportionate to what I've actually eaten, which I reckon was about 1600-1700 calories.

Hormones have so much to answer for. Sending positive thoughts that it may help. I shall ask my husband to get some Aldi ones for me to try.

It's actually Lidl, before he goes! The banana one is great. My DH says the aldi ones are not so good for protein.

Thank you, banana sounds nice. There was only chocolate/strawberry type flavours at Tesco.

GreenLemonade · 26/01/2026 21:56

Can I join? I’ve just started week 3 — jab day was yesterday. I’m currently on 2.5mg MJ. So far, I haven’t had any side effects, although I do find the effects only last around four days. I love how suppressed my appetite is during the first half of the week, so I’m planning to increase the dose to 5 mg next month to hopefully prolong it.

My stats:

  • SW: 84 kg / 13 st 3 lb (BMI 31.6)
  • CW: 80 kg / 12 st 8 lb (BMI 30.1)
  • TW: 60 kg / 9 st 6 lb (BMI 22.6)

I’m really pleased with my progress so far. I’ve lost 8.5 lb in just two weeks, even though there were a few days when I didn’t stick to my diet perfectly. One memorable slip-up was a four-course fine-dining restaurant meal with three glasses of wine (oops🫣).

I aim for 1,000–1,200 kcal per day and manage to stick to it most of the time. Honestly, I don’t think I’d be able to do this without MJ.

I have a holiday planned in June, and I’m really hoping my weight loss will be noticeable by then!

I get this insane hunger when I have lost a bit of weight and my boday wants to claim it back, so to speak. Because it thinks I'm starving. There is a theory around that. This hunger would last 4-5 days and then settle. It's also a reason why my previous attempts to lose a lot of weight have not been successful. I simply couldn't sit this out for every 2kg I lost. I think I had a bit of this kind of hunger on wegovy too, but it has been easier to satisfy and overall I am still able to lose weight. Depending on your stats, you could aim to eat to maintain just for a day or two. I think it's also called refeed.

Have spent the day in bed and dashing to the loo. Thought the worst of the side effects were over. This is 2.5mg. Haven’t eaten anything all day and feel sick.

I am starting to think this isn’t for me. I wasn’t really expecting to feel anything in the first month and it has kind of hit me like a train. Not sure what to do

Sorry to hear this and to anyone else suffering with side effects.

i know someone who had bad side effects from WG so changed to MJ and has been fine with that. I imagine it’s different for everyone.

Been reading everyone's updates! Sorry to those who are finding this bit tricky!

I'm half-way through the second week which is also the run up to my period. Finding myself feeling hunger/cravings much more this week. It's taking real willpower - the WLI are definitely not dampening that for me.

Today I've had:

  • A (homemade) caramel latte
  • A kiwi
  • A small portion of cocoa/greek yoghurt chia seed and oat pudding
  • a decent sized bowl of homemade lentil and veg soup
  • a medium portion of homemade chicken bhuna and rice.

I don't feel like the food intake is small, but I AM HUNGRY. Maybe it's the lack of sugar?

What are you all eating?

Ill be doing my 4th jab on Wednesday night, but only started tracking food in the last couple of days. I dont want to be tied to apps every time I put food on a plate and I'm very conscious of phone use in front of my kids. But I was starting to worry about my macros, and perhaps rightly so, so I started logging on my fitness pal.
Yesterday I logged 1160 cals (810 net after exercise), with only 62g of protein, and thats with an extra whey protein scoop. Today I didbt work out, logged 1000 cals, 49g protein (including scoop of whey protein and a shot of kefir). I need to figure out getting more protein in.

intentionals · 26/01/2026 23:00

Thank you - just been throwing up. Think I have officially had my last injection - I don’t want anyone to think this is normal as I would say from reading the posts that my side effects have been extreme for 2.5mg. But I have lost a stone and that is good going and will put me on the right track for losing more! Good luck everyone xx

blackandwhitefluffycat · 26/01/2026 23:02

I’m often eating eggs for lunch, soup or natural yogurt with fruit.
Various things for dinner, such as lentil cottage pie today, but a small portion. Total calories 800-1000 (I need to go low as since HRT/ peri I put weight on at 1400-1500).

I’m exercising twice a day too and still have plenty of energy.

I’m making sure I get enough protein but I’m not going overboard. I have massive quads, I’d be quite happy if I lost some muscle from those!

I don’t use any apps; I note down my food and calories in a notebook when I’m near it.

Im sorry to hear that @intentionals it sounds like it was incredibly harsh on your system, you must be disappointed. Good luck with the rest of your journey.

Curious as to why the Aldi ones aren't great for protein?
My partner goes to the gym, has done for years and is in the middle of doing a personal training apprenticeship for the gym and that's all the gym fanatics use?
I think they are brilliant. Cheap and really filling
There's also Arla ones in Tesco which were on clubcard last time I checked, the strawberry and raspberry milk one is divine

I feel so sorry for you but in all honesty, I think it is the best decision for you and one I would've taken myself
Its obviously really reactive for you for whatever reason
Take care of yourself xx

I actually have no idea. The way he spoke it sounded like there was less protein in them, but have had a quick Google and it seems they're comparable. He's also a gym enthusiast (in fact he literally manages one for work) and sometimes I just nod along assuming he's right. It's probably a flavour preference for him 🤣

Gosh you've really been through it. Think it sounds best for you. All the good wishes for your next bit.

@intentionals what you've been through sounds miserable and I think it makes complete sense to stop if it’s affecting you so badly. I hope you feel better soon, and good luck with whatever you decide to try next.

CatNoBag · 27/01/2026 08:41

I've been managing to get between 70-90g of protein just from food (sometimes hitting the magic 100g+), whilst keeping my calorie intake at about 1200-1500. I have Fage 5% yogurt for breakfast with flaxseeds/hemp hearts & nuts (and fruit), lunch either soup with lentils, beans or chickpeas or something with eggs or beans on dry toast. Dinner - chicken or fish or more beans/chickpeas with lots of vegetables and minimal carbs. I tend to sprinkle seeds on things like soup and add cashews to curries etc. I've been trying to cut out UPF for a while, so if I can I'll stick to basic ingredients, but I do have some whey protein powder if I need some extra.

I'm like @blackandwhitefluffycat, plenty of energy for exercise though I am tracking everything on MFP, mostly because I am prone to adding a dash of this and a dash of that when cooking, so tracking the food keeps me on track in that respect!

I'm also on HRT and in medical menopause after having everything out and found that my usual tricks to lose weight just weren't cutting it anymore.

bookwormcrazy · 27/01/2026 08:42

@intentionalsi am so sorry you’re having a rough time. You have to do the right thing for you and obviously this isn’t it.

MJ2026 · 27/01/2026 09:27

I am just back from my gp. I lost 4lbs in 4 weeks. I’m really sad. I am in calorie deficit I am exercising every day. I am tracking and prioritising my protein and fibre. I am taking 3 litres of water every day and I am on electrolytes. I would have sworn I lost at least 1/2 a stone. My clothes are hanging off me. My stomach area is so different. I’m feeling better and more confident. I am someone who avoided mirrors to the past couple of weeks checking myself before I leave the house. I think I’m down a dress size. But on the scales I’m not losing a lot. My GP is great and has been with my before when I was on ozempic where I gained weight and weygovy where the scales never moved. It’s just disheartening as I see so many people lose so much the first few weeks. I thought I’m one of them. My gp and I had an arrangement I wouldn’t know my weight as I can get bogged down with it. But I was so excited by my body I badgered him into telling me. I really shouldn’t have. Lesson learned. He is happy with the progress I’m sure after the head scratching he had with me on ozempic where I was defining meds and gaining weight seeing the scales move down is a huge positive for him. I’m going to the 5mg and he will meet me next month again to check everything. I did a video of myself at the start - again from someone who won’t look at herself in a mirror- so I think that might be the way to go for me. Not thinking or bringing any attention to the scales and just I dunno watch my body hopefully continue to change. Sorry for the long reply I am just feeling down.

Alltheyellowbirds · 27/01/2026 09:42

@MJ2026 Im so sorry, that’s really disappointing for you. But the fact that you’re clearly thinner and clothes are hanging off you must mean something is happening! I wonder if it might be a good idea to weigh more frequently? Weight fluctuates up and down so much due to water levels etc, who knows if the day before you visited the doc you might have been four pounds lower?

That said, although I lost a lot in my first week I have not lost a pound since, so I also am feeling frustrated!

Newstartplease24 · 27/01/2026 09:47

Hi all, sorry about the disappointing results.
a book called owning your menopause (if relevant to you) is good for contextualising exercise and nutrition as for your own health. Might help

rough day yesterday but feel better today. Anyone struggling with constipation - I sometimes use psyllium husks when on a diet, you can buy them as capsules and take with a lot of water. It’s just extra fiber and it’s a gentle way of keeping things moving

CatNoBag · 27/01/2026 09:48

That's very difficult @MJ2026 . Even when you feel lighter and better within yourself, it's good to have that validation on the scales. I've been feeling good, more energetic and LIGHTER, which I am having lost 6lbs, but it feels like much more so I can see where you're coming from in having an expectation of a lower number on the scales.

Is it possible that your starting weight was higher than you think it was? Alternatively, is your period due? The changes you describe don't sound like a 4lb loss. Either way, well done on the progress, keep going! Even if it really is 4lb in a month you'll get to your target if you keep this up.

MJ2026 · 27/01/2026 09:59

My period is due next week. So perhaps that had an effect. It’s not necessarily about the starting weight but more I expected a bigger loss on the scales then 4lb. Or in my head 1lb a week with all the effort and work I’ve been put in. I’ve been overweight my entire life. And been on all the other injections Saxenda when it was first licensed with unimaginable side effects. Ozempic where I had great results like I’m feeling right now but because the scales said I was gaining weight the GP couldn’t stand over it. (I should mention everyone around me and even the staff in the practice could seen the weight loss but the scales was saying differently) I think the scales is not the best measurement for me. But it’s so hard because that’s the common method of measurement. Even in the past few days when someone has commented that I look like I’ve lost weight the next question is usually ‘how much or how much to do want to lose’. I am kicking myself for asking the doctor for the numbers. I was just so excited. I think the psychology of a WL journey is sometimes as hard to work through. I’ll be ok I’m going to keep going. I’m just reminding myself I lost 4lb! That on ozempic the scales were going the opposite way. And who knows what 5mg will do for me. Thanks guys for the support I can’t explain what it means to be able to offload like this. I really appreciate it.
