I hope it’s okay to start a new thread as we are getting dangerously close to the end of thread 1

My current stats are

MJ 2.5mg just taken dose three
planning on staying on 2.5mg for my next pen
SW: 13 stone 9.4lbs
Week 1: lost 11 lbs
Week 2: lost 3 lbs
Total weightloss: 1 stone (a small jack russel terrier)
GW: 9 stone 7

We have some newbies joining mid month so let’s cheer them on - we’ve got this ladies!

I'm starving today
Definitely made the right choice going up to 5mg and actively looking forward to injecting it 🤣

Hettar · 26/01/2026 13:29

Hi everyone.

I'm another one whose weight loss has stalled over the last few days. I lost 12lbs over the first 2 weeks and now nothing for 5 days.

This thread really helps as I know I'm not alone.

As other have said, this is the point we're I would give up and just binge food. Why bother sticking to a healthy eating and low calories when you're not losing any weight would have been my thinking.

Thankfully because of the MJ I have no choice to continue.

cravingmilkshake · 26/01/2026 13:37

Hi everyone ,

I took my last 2.5mg MJ on Friday and due to take 1st 5mg on Friday. I’m actually going out on Friday night for dinner - would it be sensible to take it on the Thursday instead ? Just incase any side effects?

thanks

Boyandgirlanddone · 26/01/2026 14:01

@cravingmilkshake I'm going out for a friend's birthday dinner on Friday night too which will be my first big night out since starting 3 and a bit weeks ago. I'm nervous about how I'll be able to keep up...mainly with the drinking. I wasn't a regular drinker anyway but always enjoyed a few cocktails on a night out...I'm not sure I'll be able to manage any at the moment which will definitely irritate the birthday girl! Good luck with your dinner!

@Boyandgirlanddone - I think my diet fails are often down to my lack of willpower combined with other people's expectations. I hate that there is this expectation to drink at every occasion. My family are all big drinkers whereas I've cut down to almost nothing over recent years, but feel like a complete misfit if I say I'm not drinking. Even my Mum (who hardly ever drank when I was growing up) guilts me into having wine when I visit!

Boyandgirlanddone · 26/01/2026 14:21

@CatNoBag same...I haven't drunk much since having kids and feel quite judged for it...like it's some kind of character failing that I don't drink much anymore!

Me personally would take it the friday
You won't notice any side effects within a couple of hours
But if you take it Thursday you could have nausea which might prevent you from going out
Those are just my thoughts
I've already started on 5mg and haven't noticed any side effects

I agree with @notcomfortable. From my experience, and what I’ve read online, if you’re going to have side effects they tend to kick in 24-48 hours after the jab. So I’d keep your jab on Friday, or if you want to move it, move it to Sat morning.

I had this dilemma last week. I stuck to the Friday and took it an hour before going out. Worked out really well, at least as far as being able to party goes, if not for my waistline! The previous jab had worn off and the new one hadn’t kicked in so no side effects and enough appetite to eat a main course and dessert, and also drink a shed load of wine.

Jab kicked in the next morning.

I don’t drink alcohol at all - I never have since trying it at 18+ as I just don’t like it - and I know exactly what you mean, as I’ve had a lifetime of being made to feel like a misfit for it! And people trying to persuade me to have some! It’s so odd! I’m also vegetarian and don’t get people trying to get me to eat meat…

goldylock · 26/01/2026 16:40

Yea, am 5 days post 4th dose of 2.5mg dose and im in the "me mounjaro doesn't work no more" club. The force must be strong in me.

Hunger, taste buds, everything back to normal really. Haven't had any other effects.

Going up to 5mg on Thurs.

Whatstfpoint · 26/01/2026 19:20

Yes like you all say I too would have fallen off the waggon by now. I would have felt pretty hopeless at trying to resist the insane hunger and appetite. It's amazing how wegovy takes a big edge off it. It does get scary at times.

I felt insanely hungry at the office today even after breakfast and lunch. I went to get something from pret because I knew I couldn't keep going another four hours till dinner. But I am able to have a small dinner only and no snacking. I'd previously still have had my normal dinner just as a reward for whatever. Literally just for comfort. But now I feel im doing myself something good by eating something small and healthy. Never before entered such a thought my mind.

ChilledProsecco · 26/01/2026 20:15

I weighed myself after my weekend away & have gained 0.3kg, so am back on track with my diet.

Didnt eat or drink crazy amounts - 1/2 bottle of Prosecco all weekend, walked 15k steps on Saturday & but had a takeaway. Unfortunately there were no cooking facilities so we had to eat out at brekkie & I ate more than I would have done normally.

Weekly weigh-in as usual on Thursday. I’ll see what I can lose between now & then.

JHound · 26/01/2026 20:22

It’s interesting as I took my first dose (2.5mg) on Saturday and despite slight bloating Sunday have felt zero impact.

Will see how future doses go.

intentionals · 26/01/2026 20:23

Have spent the day in bed and dashing to the loo. Thought the worst of the side effects were over. This is 2.5mg. Haven’t eaten anything all day and feel sick.

I am starting to think this isn’t for me. I wasn’t really expecting to feel anything in the first month and it has kind of hit me like a train. Not sure what to do

Have you taken pepto bismol? It really will stop the side effects
But equally it does sound like you've had a rough couple of weeks on the injections, it might just not be for you? Wegovy is suppose to be less brutal in terms of side effects if that is something you want to explore x

Whatstfpoint · 26/01/2026 20:31

I thought overall MJ is said to have less side effects? Not the case?

Not from what I've heard cos wegovy is working on one receptor whereas mounjaro is working on two receptors

The videos I’ve watched on WLI on YouTube or whatever all say that MJ has fewer side effects. Newer drug, more sophisticated design etc. Who knows, maybe it’s different for different people?

Edited

Maybe so!
I just Googled it and it says they have the same side effects but a higher chance of having side effects on mj because mounjaro targets two receptors while wegovy only targets the one so any side effects should be more tolerable 🤷‍♀️
When i first started mj last year I had four days of sickness and diarrhea but I've not had a single side effect since! Not a headache nothing, but I really do feel for those who are having them. Definitely talk with your prescriber @intentionals you might just be unlucky with it x

FrothyCothy · 26/01/2026 20:55

End of week 3 for me.

SW: 111kg (17st 6.7)
CW: 107.5kg (16st12.9)

-3.5kg (7.8lbs)

Slow but steady. Treats definitely slipped in more over the weekend but have averaged about 1500cals per day, 3 trips to the gym, so not all bad.

YouBelongWithMe · 26/01/2026 21:05

Been reading everyone's updates! Sorry to those who are finding this bit tricky!

I'm half-way through the second week which is also the run up to my period. Finding myself feeling hunger/cravings much more this week. It's taking real willpower - the WLI are definitely not dampening that for me.

Today I've had:

  • A (homemade) caramel latte
  • A kiwi
  • A small portion of cocoa/greek yoghurt chia seed and oat pudding
  • a decent sized bowl of homemade lentil and veg soup
  • a medium portion of homemade chicken bhuna and rice.

I don't feel like the food intake is small, but I AM HUNGRY. Maybe it's the lack of sugar?

What are you all eating?

Wasitabadger · 26/01/2026 21:07

I have had my first jab of MJ this evening.
SW 103.6
GW 80kg.
I have protein shakes in the fridge to increase my protein intake. Temptations have been removed and fortunately I have a supportive husband. It is our 10th anniversary as a couple in June and I want to feel healthier and more comfortable for our holiday. I have been increasing my steps the last two weeks and returning to yogalarties on Friday.

Would protein shakes help (the chocolate and white chocolate ones) they are currently £1.50 with a club card at Tesco.

YouBelongWithMe · 26/01/2026 21:23

I like the Aldi ones which have 20g protein in them. Will try pick some up tomorrow.

It's so annoying because thr hunger levels feel disproportionate to what I've actually eaten, which I reckon was about 1600-1700 calories.
