@Polkadotdash huge sympathy on the toxic work environment that sounds utterly shit. My work is terrible at the moment, to such an extent that I worry it may not survive long-term, so I'm right with you!

im having a crappy time. Along with the mammoth work stress for me, DH (who is BY FAR the main breadwinner) is also looking for a job with nothing on the horizon (made redundant end of last year). We don't need him to work necessarily, he could just retire very early but it makes a big difference to our retirement plans if he does. He doesn't deal with uncertainty very well, especially around money. So he's now wanting to switch to buying value everything, not book any holidays etc etc. his payoff will fund us for 2-3 years wit no change in lifestyle. 🤦‍♀️
And my back pain continues, I haven't been able to exercise properly for a month now, it's driving me mad. 😢

HeidiLite · 09/03/2026 11:13

@MJalltheway sorry about the work stress. It does not sound like your DH is ready to retire yet, even if finances would allow?

@Jins I set up a profile for DH as well, he's the opposite to me, naturally very slim and finds it a challenge putting on muscle. He has now made a plan with ChatGPT to increase his muscle mass, we will see how it goes.
I had plans to have a DD like him, tall and slim and can eat what she wants without gaining weight, and DS with my muscle mass. Of course we have the exact opposite..

MJalltheway · 10/03/2026 08:32

@HeidiLite i completely agree, however there are other factors in play as well. He's extremely senior job-wise and that level of role are few and far between anyway and usually demand a LOT of travel away from home which he doesn't really want to do any more. So it's then a case of taking a job with a massive step down in level and money and he's not sure he wants that either! Consultancy is the obvious solution but not sure he wants to go that route either! We're a bit in limbo.
I started job hunting properly for me yesterday, got 2 or 3 jobs to apply for so will crack on with that. Even if nothing comes of it, I think I'll feel better just doing something. I also struggle with jobs because I just can't manage full time hours but I get a shit-load done in my part-time hours - companies don't always see/value that though.
physio for my back today, hopefully that will be useful.
tracking my macros/calories in ChatGPT has been very interesting. Even on days where I feel I've had LOADS, it's coming out around 1900 cals. And average across the week is about 1600-1700. Pleased with my fibre and plant variety, I'm easily getting 35+ a week without trying, just with eating my usual food.

Jins · 10/03/2026 08:41

Always the way @HeidiLite. My DH is pretty muscly and always has been but there’s a bit of padding that has sneaked in and a general age related softening.

We had an unexpected evening out yesterday to see Harry Enfield and were going through some phone photos on the way home. DH showed me a pic he’d taken about 9/10 months ago. It’s not a bad photo for him and I’d lost a bit over a stone at the time so was feeling pretty good. I look huge! That made me feel better.

Another wardrobe sort is calling me today. I have a feeling that my spring and summer clothes are going to look ridiculous. I don’t think I’ll be bothering with alterations unless it’s something I really love. I’ve got loads of gorgeous fabrics stashed away and I think it’s time to use them. They always felt too good to use unless I’d lost the flab but I’ve lost it now so it’s time to get a new spring and summer wardrobe planned and made.

HeidiLite · 10/03/2026 08:50

I am still astonished by my weight blindness. DH was also showing me some holiday photos from some years ago where I thought I looked fine. Average. Slim-ish.
I did not.
Am starting to wonder how much my current perception of myself actually matches reality..

I know what you mean @HeidiLite. Dd has rather sweetly put a pic of me and her on her insta profile and she is looking all blonde and gorgeous whereas I look like a toad. I remember that being taking and thinking the top k was wearing was flattering and I looked all funky on holiday (we were in Lisbon on holiday). It’s still a lovely pic because it’s me and her but it makes me a bit sad

i am apparently a gym MACHINE! Been another couple of times, really having fun. Missed my run this morning because I slept like an absolute log so am going at lunchtime but looking forward to it as a treat. Who have I become!

HeidiLite · 10/03/2026 10:42

amazing @myladyjane ! Skinny may be nice but being strong is something else!

OP posts:
meatyryvita · 12/03/2026 08:02

Morning losers! I’ve been reading through everyone’s updates but work has been so busy that I’ve not had a chance to chat.

@HeidiLite Im short and formerly stocky but DS seems to have the stocky gene but is 6ft at 13! DD is tall and whippet slender so it all fell as I’d hoped. Shame that strength isn’t so valued in girls as it is in boys but that’s society I guess.

@Jins a new wardrobe of made to measure clothes sounds wonderful!

@MJalltheway best of luck with your job search.

i weighed in today and for the first time since i was 14 and did an ‘eat only fruit and veg all weekend’ diet, i am now officially under 10 stone! Whilst it is wonderful news, casting my mind back to that age when i was constantly fighting my weight makes me feel quite sad/mournful. I was a child and should have just been able to concentrate on fun and friendships.

Have a great day losers.

myladyjane · 12/03/2026 08:29

@meatyryvita it cheers me that dd (16) is all about the ass and is nicknamed ‘man arms’ in her sisters contacts - she does 15 hours plus of sport a week and has just started going to the gym before school for a, stress relief pre GCSE’s and b, as she wants killer glutes and a 6 pack for the summer. She does loads of strength based stuff (she has a coach at athletics who teaches form). Makes me happy how happy it makes her

HeidiLite · 12/03/2026 09:09

@meatyryvita congratulations on 10 stone!
DS is 5'6'' at 12yo but entirely pre-puberty, so projected to grow another 30cm.

I hear you about lifelong weight watching.

But I do think times are better nowadays like @myladyjane writes as being strong is concerned. When I was a teenager, it was certainly only skinny skinny skinny, muscles on women were things to be avoided, you don't want to look manly or bulky, god forbid! Nowadays unfortunately yes skinny is trending, but there are still plenty of fit and strong influencers as well.
DD may be of stockier build than DS, but she is also strong and does a ton of sports. Whenever I discuss food around her, I only talk about nutrition and fueling your body properly, not becoming as small as possible.

Zempy · 12/03/2026 10:19

Congratulations @meatyryvita

Jins · 12/03/2026 11:54

Oh well done @meatyryvita. Breaking the 10st barrier is a fabulous milestone.

I’ve stabilised at 8st 8.2 for the last couple of days and I have no idea where or why the 2lb drop happened but I’ll take it. People have finally noticed that I’ve lost weight as I’m being told I don’t need to lose anymore. So that means there’s still capacity to drop a little more as IME this is what people say when you’re in danger of being in better shape than them 🤣

I’m hearing that off label prescribing is starting to be more common but not who is doing it apart from Voy. I’ve reached the conclusion over the last year that if someone is over 25 BMI and wants to use WLI to get to a mid range BMI then why the hell shouldn’t they? If I’d have had the opportunity to halt and reverse my weight gain over the last 10 years or so I’m certain I’d have jumped on it.

Busy morning so far rearranging books. We have books dotted all round the house and it’s all a bit random so I’ve moved all my cookbooks to the Kallax that used to be for sewing kit and am currently sorting fiction from non fiction so we’ve got a fighting chance of finding what we’re looking for. One of my weirder collections is a particular series of M&S cookbooks from the 80s and there are an awful lot of them! Luckily it seems that there are others with the same hobby as I’ve made a bit of profit from selling my duplicates.

26inprogress · 12/03/2026 17:27

Hi everyone

sorry been a busy week here, have read but not managed to post! Helsinki was wonderful, really loved it, lots of walking, a sauna and cold dip in the frozen sea ( which was quite something!) and cinnamon and cardamom buns. Managed to lose 2 pounds so at my lowest weight. I’m just going to see what happens over the next few weeks and if I continue losing drop my dose. ( I wouldn’t be unhappy losing 4 more pounds!).

@meatyryvitathats amazing, well done you you must feel AMAZING!

@MJallthewaygood luck with the job hunt and back. Hope DH ok, as someone who was made redundant last year I feel his pain, it’s really tricky out there at the moment. Does he have an exec coach he can talk things through with?

@tinyemmyhope you're ok, how did the dietician appt go?

@Polkadotdashthat sounds awful, agree completely with @HeidiLiteadvice, get everything documented . Hope you’re ok and that this week has been better?

woohoo @myladyjanethats brilliant news, so pleased for you! And go you on the exercise too!

@Zempy🤣on the phrases for Heidi’s class!!

@DGmaintainingwow it is all going on. Congrats to DH and hope it works out well for you all.

sorry if I’ve missed anyone!!

oh and I think I may ( finally!) have a job 🎉🍾. Had a face to face ‘chat’ with the Chief People Officer who I’d met before and the team yesterday in a coffee shop, it was most def not a chat 😱🤣but went well and they want to offer. I honestly can’t tell you how relieved I am. I’ve not worked for 8 months! Pre MJ I would have piled on the weight but not this time, I’ve chosen to exercise and get fit, so very grateful! To celebrate I’m getting my hair cut and coloured tomorrow and have booked a person shopper at Selfridges on Monday as I’m going to be in the office 4 days a week, not going to know what’s hit me!!

Have a brilliant weekend when it arrives everyone!

meatyryvita · 12/03/2026 17:34

@26inprogress Congratulations!!!! So very happy for you. Oh what fun you're going to have with the personal shopping :-).

Zempy · 12/03/2026 17:49

@26inprogress Congratulations!

I am loving all the good news!

MJalltheway · 12/03/2026 18:16

Wonderful news @26inprogress , congratulations to you! Enjoy the personal shopper!
and congratulations @meatyryvita as well!
@Jins a day rearranging books actually sounds like my idea of heaven! We've got rid of most of our bookcases now so I just end up with random piles of books everywhere. I was idly scrolling through Rightmove the other day and stopped and bookmarked a house just on the basis of their amazing built-in bookcases 😂
I've managed 2 days in the office this week and have retreated back to WFH, my back just ends up so sore in the office. Really miserable about it. 😭

On the other hand, I have a maintenance consult at long last with Pharmulous tomorrow so will see what they offer.

myladyjane · 12/03/2026 19:27

@26inprogress amazing! Super well done!

@meatyryvita well done on the under 10s too (sorry was on train earlier and it pulled I to my station so only did my first message).

@MJalltheway that’s not good re the back. I hope it eases soon as you’ve had a nasty time with it haven’t you. Be interested in hearing how you get on with pharmulous- I am with them and need to get a maintenance call in quite soon I think

BlueLimes · 12/03/2026 19:54

@meatyryvita thrilled for you. You have been such a cheerleader for everyone.
@26inprogress amazing news. Audi on the lowest weight.
@MJalltheway sorry to hear your back is still not good.

HeidiLite · 12/03/2026 20:02

great news @26inprogress !

Thelittlestranger · 12/03/2026 21:17

Congrats @meatyryvita !

And on the job news front @26inprogress !

I start my pilates teacher training tomorrow. Quite nervous in case there is a load of nubile young things in the class.

I've also realised I need to keep an eye on my sweet tooth. The wine is upping as is the chocolate. I'm just about keeping the weight in check, but it doesn't feel easy at the moment that's for sure.

OP posts:
Zempy · 13/03/2026 06:42

Weighed in at 8:0 again. I do feel slightly underweight now, BMI is 19. I reduced my dose to 5mg and have consumed two beige buffet lunches, but no increase on the scale yet.

Am out with DD tomorrow and her diet is 90% cake so that might help. I never thought I would be in this position… never.

HeidiLite · 13/03/2026 06:52

yes 19 is quite low. Enjoy the cake! I am also quite amazed, I eat normally, not counting calories and not really restricting anything. I do drink very little and never had much of a sweet tooth, but otherwise, normal diet. And the weight is stable without any effort, 57.7 this morning.

OP posts:
Thelittlestranger · 13/03/2026 08:02

I don't think you could sum up better, the difference between maintenance with jabs, and maintenance without, than in the last three posts.

One still losing
One finding it easy
One finding it an ongoing task

Which one isn't jabbing do you think?! 🤣 🙄

HeidiLite · 13/03/2026 08:14

as long as the jabs agree with me, I am not stopping. will extend and go lower with dose, but for once in my life I'm not fighting my weight. It's just such a huge portion of my brain and willpower I can free up to deal with other stuff instead.
