happy weekend, losers!

Something odd, my weight has been pretty much stable for months now around 58 kilos. I don't count my calories any more or do anything special, eat pretty much what I want. I do a lot of sports but to build muscle, not to lose weight. Could it be this is my new set point? Could it?

Thelittlestranger · 07/03/2026 08:31

Thanks @HeidiLite - it's the foundational knowledge of pilates that contributes to much so much other exercise I think I'll benefit from. I'm considering my personal training level 3 as well, so I can teach all areas, if I don't get another role in what I'm currently doing. Undecided, and a few months off will help with that I think.

@Jins I was reading that about Voy. Tempted to stop my £15 per month to Oushk, but am going to wait a year before I do. The safety net feeling it gives me is real. I would love to buy one pen, and have a month back on just to lose a few more lbs. But I don't need to as I'm maintaining in my window and I don't want to look thinner. Despite how tempting it is to think about not caring about food for a month.

HeidiLite · 07/03/2026 08:37

@Thelittlestranger any advice for exercises for my waistline? After weightloss I'm quite pillar-shaped and my waist is a size bigger than my hips.

@Polkadotdash that is awful. Better advice will come from others but I’m right behind you and filled with righteous anger. I suspect this lies behind your stalled weightloss more than you think.

Thanks all for your messages re brother. He’s doing ok and obviously enormously relieved. He remains under consultant care so will find out next steps soon but a bit of positivity has returned.

Weigh in and jab day and I’ve lost 2lb this week which is unexpected. I’m going with it as my BMI is 21.3 and there’s still plenty of fat around my midriff. I’d quite like to see how 8.7 looks but any lower than that would be a mistake.

I’ve just read that the ‘new’ pens with less liquid will be rolling out in April. My immediate thought was to buy a couple but can’t really afford to and don’t really need to. I’ve also been reading that Voy are now prescribing off label to BMI 25+ and are also allowing click counting. I’m expecting them to be inundated but I’m also keeping them in mind for the future.

Have a great weekend all.

IME with Voy, they won't take you with that BMI. Mine is slightly higher at 21.8 and they told me I was risking my health by continuing to take MJ even in maintenance.

PrepossessingPenelope · 07/03/2026 09:10

Greetings all, haven't kept up with everything this week.

@Polkadotdash that sounds very unhealthy, having been in an extremely toxic work situation recently I get it. You must prioritise yourself and look after your health. My situation was definitely affecting my health, my systolic blood pressure reading has reduced by 40% since quitting my former job. I also agree that those stress levels will be affecting your rate of weight loss.

My advice to you is to build a case, write everything down, keep a thorough record in case you choose to take action in the future, but also send it to your line manager, less easy to brush off if you have emailed it and good to have it in writing in case things develop.

Weight still on a downward trajectory here which is suprising. I've been really busy and haven't tracked my food. We went to a Chinese restaurant last night, I didn't overeat but I did have a beer.

Have a good weekend all.

DGmaintaining · 07/03/2026 10:56

Morning all!

Have been reading but not posting this week.

@Polkadotdash that sounds so very stressful and vindictive on the part of your line manager. Agree with Heidi’s advice to document everything as it could be he’s doing the same on his side.

@Thelittlestranger Pilates training sounds awesome! What a great skill to add to your repertoire.

@HeidiLite hope all is ok with your son. Also, sounds like you have settled at 58kg. Are you still taking MJ, I can’t remember if you said you were spreading out doses.

@Jins you must feel so relieved with your brothers news.

All good here. Had a slightly less eventful week which was much needed. Went to see Raye in concert on Monday (invited through work) which was v cool. Oh and DH got the job he was interviewing for! So all change here. He’s been running his own business for 18 years and has been thinking about closing it down for a couple of years as he wasn’t bringing in enough money to put aside anything for his pension. But the flexibility of it was a huge advantage during DS’s difficult secondary school years. DH has been primary carer since I returned to full time work 13 years ago. Now the DC older they are going to have to be more independent, as both of us will need to be out of the house by 8 (DS1 often asks for a lift at 8:30/9).

In MJ maintenance dose news I’ve had my first week at 1.75mg. I’ve just got my period so weight has gone down to 57.95kg after the ‘purge’, which is my absolute lowest limit for me. So that’s a successful week of maintenance at the new lower dose. I’m still getting a little bit of nausea about 10mins after I’ve eaten…like a delayed appetite suppression. So I’ll go again tomorrow with the 1.75mg dose and see how I do in the second week as the levels in my body will be lower this week. Still aiming for a long term 1.25mg, but happy to take a long time to get there.

what a great idea @Thelittlestranger .
Pilates not my thing but I just love teaching fitness classes and am always trying to recruit other people.
Am thinking about offering my services to my French gym as well - not for the money and not as a regular instructor, but would love to do some substitute classes every now and then. Only problem is that my French is quite abysmal but some of those classes require very little talking anyway.

Surely all you need are some stock phrases?

”oy! You, you’re doing it all wrong!”

”lower”

”higher”

”who farted?”

tinyemmy · 07/03/2026 11:31

Argh weighed in at over a stone over target. I know I've been binge eating in the evening and just need to put a stop to it. I'm in it today. I'm giving it a week and unless I've lost a couple of pounds I'm jabbing next week. I've got an emergency pen in the fridge.

myladyjane · 07/03/2026 11:53

@Zempyto this day my mother still colours with mortification about the time she not only farted in Pilates but came home and told my dad. Now she’s not prim exactly but had quite a ‘proper’ upbringing so this was highly embarrassing. My dad not only phoned me to tell me but called my brother who lived in another country. Happy times……

Thelittlestranger · 07/03/2026 16:55

I'm tempted to add a class for 'Pilates Farters' to welcome those who want to feel more comfortable

What are you going to do to avoid the evening binges? Sometimes I find that a controlled sugar allowance staves off the forbidden feeling of eating something you're not allowed. You can do it, whichever route you opt for. Just need to get back on the bandwagon.

Have you changed supplier? Wondering if I’ll need to soon.

BlueLimes · 07/03/2026 17:23

@tinyemmy its so tough. Could you increase protein? I hope you find something that works for you.
@DGmaintaining i heard Raye was amazing.

myladyjane · 08/03/2026 08:21

Just popping in to say I finally reached my goal! Ironically have lost more last month on a lower pen and slightly more calories (although let’s not get excited - it was about a lb a week).

goal has immediately moved down another 5lb and I’m still bmi 26 but I am genuinely happy here (helps that the extra weight is on the tops of my thighs so the least bad place for it health wise and easy to cover looks wise).

discussed plan of attack with dh - am going to spend another month on 10mg (I have one in the fridge) but order a 12.5 pen then after this 10 is done, very slowly see if I can click count down - I think from my reading if I’m lucky a pen ordered today will still have the extra dose so by my maths I may get 6 doses out of what I need. Will also get a call with pharmulous after this order

thank you weird women in my phone for listening to me.

Thelittlestranger · 08/03/2026 09:05

Congratulations @myladyjane - that's brilliant news. And sounds like a good plan.

Currently having a cuppa in bed. Planning on a run shortly with the dogs, big stretch afterwards and then a fairly relaxed day ahead of me..

BlueLimes · 08/03/2026 09:09

Amazing news @myladyjane delighted for you.
@Thelittlestranger sounds like a lovely day 😊

DGmaintaining · 08/03/2026 09:20

Well done @myladyjane amazing that lowering the dose balanced out your metabolism into weightloss mode! That’s probably not anything the research trials will have discovered, but only something you’ve worked out from really paying attention to your individual needs.

@tinyemmy i think it’s absolutely ok for you to go back to MJ to curb the binges, this is what you’ve prepared for with your spare pen.

@BlueLimes she was great! Such a powerful and emotional performer.

I’ve accidentally overshot my lowest limit - I’m down to 57.35kg today. But I’m expecting to gain next week, I tend to be lightest on day 3 of my cycle as 1 & 2 are very heavy days. So I’ll stick with the 1.75mg today, but if I’m at this weight again next week I’ll go down to 1.5mg a bit earlier than expected.

Jins · 08/03/2026 11:25

Congratulations @myladyjane. I’m thrilled for you.

I’ve been nursing stomach ache for the last few days. Feels a bit trapped windy, nothing serious but annoying. Went to a cheap as chips gig last night. A goth covers/tribute act of all things. Lovely mix of old and young in the audience and such a friendly atmosphere.

Today is laundry, general cleaning and tidying then a chilled evening. It’s DS2’s turn to cook. Think we’re having a fancy shepherds pie.

Not sure really, I think maybe have something I really enjoy planned for Saturday evenings. At the moment I'm having a pudding that is healthy and then adding granola to it which makes it calorific and then once I get the taste I'm all over all of the sweets food where as I think if I chose something I really wanted, for example lemon drizzle cake but just once per week maybe I could then be just healthy rather than this halfway house. Although I think I picked the halfway house so I had something I enjoyed every evening but the brain was in a "I've gone over calories so might as well go all the way over"

Also, the why needs to be so important. I'd lost my why, but I'm hoping I've got it back!

Thank you @BlueLimesim trying to prioritise protein. I have been trying to plan my day out and then sticking to it. The first day I managed it in a long time was yesterday.

Congratulations @myladyjane 🎉

Thank you @DGmaintainingI have you get back to the weight you're happy with soon.

Get well soon @Jins

HeidiLite · 08/03/2026 15:55

congratulations @myladyjane , slow and steady for the win! and yes the goal weight kept shifting for me. but the first goal was still the most significant.

Over here, went to deal with the pets of the friend stuck in Doha, but they are on their way home, woohoo! Gym (back and chest). then DS had a basketball game as usual, the poor opposing team was not in the right league (as they lost 81-31). Now just sitting outside as it's still nice and sunny.

Ah @tinyemmy hope you are ok. When you say a stone over target, do you mean since you stopped the jabs?

Polkadotdash · 08/03/2026 16:35

And thank you everyone for your kind words about my work scenario. I’ve spent most of the weekend feeling quite burnt out by it all. These things get to me so much. I’m good at what I do but I’m not successful and it eats me up. People always overlook me for promotion but expect me to be there to make things work. I’m really bad at standing up for myself. I worry so much about losing my job and our precarious financial situation getting much much worse so I just end up keeping quiet. It’s good to have an outside view that it’s not ok to treat me like that when I’m constantly being told at work that it’s perfectly normal to. And it is one of the reasons that I live on biscuits and chocolate to cheer myself up.

HeidiLite · 08/03/2026 16:55

@Polkadotdash it's very typical unfortunatrely that people who are good at their jobs are overlooked for others who just make noise. This one just popped up on my SM: too good to be promoted

Ah @tinyemmy hope you are ok. When you say a stone over target, do you mean since you stopped the jabs?

The weight gain started when I was still on the jabs, I'm December I just started eating more junk, but the binge eating has come back since I've been off the jabs.

I put on about 3lbs in December when in the jabs, then another couple leading up to my ski holiday and then nearly half a stone on my ski holiday.

I am very close to jabbing again just to get it back under control. I have been monitoring what I eat and I binge ate 5 out of 7 days last week. I'm aiming for less binge days this week. I've got an appointment with a dietician on Wednesday and I think depending on that conversation I might jab. I was also waiting for my ADHD titration to complete as I was asked to come off them for that plus the slowing down of digestion will change how they work but I'd hope the medication would help the binge eating and it hasn't as it's worn off by the evening which is when I binge eat.

Good luck with your work. It sounds toxic, you're better off moving departments or companies if you cannot find a senior ally??

Jins · 09/03/2026 08:23

Evening binge eating is almost certainly what put me into the situation of needing MJ. It’s something that I expect to have to deal with in the future but luckily it’s under control while I’m still jabbing.

I was showing DH my Renpho metrics yesterday and the FOMO hit him hard. I set up a second profile and we both got a shock. He’s never carried excess weight since I’ve known him but has always fallen into a higher BMI as he’s very tall and muscular and it gets a bit inaccurate outside ‘normal’ range. His metrics came through with BMI 29 and high readings for both body and sub cut fat and a visceral fat reading of 11. I pointed out that based on his stats and his BP and cholesterol treatment he’d be a shoo in for MJ. For someone that is constantly training for one physical challenge or another and who looks the fittest in our group it’s been a bit of a surprise and there may have been a bit of sulking 🤣🤣🤣. Anyway in his case the solution is easy and totally in his hands as his tv snacking is at the heart of it.

Stomach ache appears to be constipation related which puts me back in familiar territory. It’s my own fault as I’ve been tempted by fruit which is not allowed and I’ve also had some dates which are the bane of my life as I love them but my system can barely cope with one. So I’m planning a couple of low residue days to try to get back on track and I’m pinning my ‘safe’ food list from my consultant in obvious locations. I’ve had such positive benefits from using MJ that I think I’ve ignored the underlying cause of my gut problems and become overconfident. Hopefully I’ll get on top of it soon.

Anyway another working week starts and I hope it’s kind to everyone but especially @Polkadotdash.
