We won’t make it to Christmas without a new board.

Well done to everyone for getting this far and thank you for your company.

Here’s to a healthy and happy 2026.

My weigh-in from Friday:

SW- 15 st BMI 30
TW - 13 st
CW - 13 st BMI 27
Loss - 0 lb
Total loss - 28 lbs

Next target weight is 12 st.

My calorie intake in Nutra Check pretty much doubled on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. I've eaten the big roasts without much restraint, apart from cutting back on the quantity of the roasties I'd normally eat. I've also been quaffing too much alcohol - again Baileys more restricted but instead I've found quite a liking for dry sherry ...

But I haven't been eating sweets, chocolate or my worst weakness, crisps. DH makes the best in the world, but I've been keeping quantities low so as not to set off the awful sugar cravings again. I don't need to go back to that.

I'm amazed not to have gained any weight this week. I did do 70 lengths in the pool yesterday, though, as penance.

Isn't this brilliant (I'm talking about our collective experiences here). We're all going into the new year significantly lighter, I for one am much fitter and more mobile, and am feeling better than I have since before I broke my spine. And these threads are really helping. It's great to see others enjoying similar benefits.

Yes, freezing. Able to wear jumpers inside which I haven’t done since hitting peri.

familyornot · 29/12/2025 17:17

Glad to hear it’s not just me then! Freezing, all the time! I’ve had to buy jumpers, I haven’t had to do that in years. I’ve been blaming perimenopause but it seems like it hasn’t been that at all, along with other symptoms I’ve attributed to that which have also disappeared.

Thanks for the electric blanket tip @Chopsy123.

JustPickleRick · 29/12/2025 20:57

Another one here who is constantly freezing 🥶 need to find my oodie! I also need to stop eating crap 🫠 i suspect I will get back on the wagon properly when I go back to work on the 5th.

UnimaginableWindBird · 30/12/2025 09:18

I've spent most of life being too cold, so I haven't noticed a difference since starting MJ.

OneDayIWillLearn · 30/12/2025 09:43

Also very sensitive to the cold but that’s partly just me! I bought myself a furry fleece in the Mountain Warehouse sale (happened to be passing it on the way to Pets at Home) two days ago and I’ve been very much enjoying it! We live in a 300 year old farmhouse though so it is generally hard to keep it as warm as I’d like in winter - electric blankets and thermals are very familiar tools in the fight.

A small NSV this week was picking up two new pairs of jeans in Matalan - went in to buy kids shoes but, partly inspired by this thread and partly driven by how awful I am now feeling in my customary jeggings, I bought two pairs of size 14 jeans (non skinny styles!). It was a bit of a punt as I couldn’t face the changing rooms with two kids in tow but they both fitted absolutely fine - slightly baggy if anything! So I’ve now ordered a pair of size 12 (gasp!!) carrot jeans from M and S. I think they will probably be a pair I need to lose more weight for but I thought it would be nice to have a target.

Kazzaa46 · 30/12/2025 19:58

Is anyone getting more cold type bugs lately?

I had a cough and cold bug in November. I then got another one in December that was like flu, it cleared before Christmas and now just 10 days after recovering, I have another cough and cold.

I know it’s a particularly bad season for bugs this year but I’ve never had 3 similar bugs in the space of 2 months. Not sure if MJ is affecting my immune system or if it’s just coincidence?

Probably a coincidence. As we move from obese to healthy weights, our immune systems will be improving rather than becoming weaker. I think it's just that time of year.

familyornot · 30/12/2025 23:33

I’ve started taking a lot of supplements to support my health. I’m eating a lot less now and so I’ve been worried about nutrients until I can eat healthily 80% of the time, it’s a work in progress but I still grab convenience foods as a habit which are so low in nutrients. I feel a lot better overall but I’m not sure if it’s the vitamins, weight loss or a combination of both. I haven’t had half as many illnesses as I would have at this point in the year, it could be a fluke though.

Kazzaa46 · 31/12/2025 06:05

Thank you both. I’m eating so much better than before, I exercise, I take supplements etc and really thought I’d have a better immune system now.
I spent Christmas Day with family including primary school age kids so I likely picked it up then. Feel like I jinxed it because after getting better just before Christmas, I said there’s no way I’ll get another respiratory bug now after having 2 in a row 🙈

GhostOrchid · 31/12/2025 09:54

Bit the bullet and did my post-Christmas weigh in today. I jab and officially weigh in Fridays but skipped last Friday’s weigh in (not the jab) as it was Boxing Day. I’ve been sensible this Christmas, certainly compared to previous years. I just had one roast potato with my Christmas dinner, a small portion of trifle etc, but I’ve not been tracking and have eaten and snacked a lot more than I usually would, although Mounjaro has also made me want to have a few clean days where I really haven’t eaten much and have had no alcohol.

Anyway, was stunned to see I’m actually another 2lbs down. Can’t quite believe it. Best I was hoping for was to have maintained. Will weigh in again this coming Friday to check progress.

outofofficeagain · 31/12/2025 10:21

Christmas weigh in for my today too (no idea what day it is, and I’m under 200lbs for the first time in about 10 years!

i’ve lost 1kg this week but know I haven’t been eating well from a nutrition point of view so will be addressing that this week.

OP posts:
familyornot · 31/12/2025 10:31

Well done @GhostOrchidand @outofofficeagain- that’s amazing progress! I’m focusing on getting below 200lbs, 6 months ago that seemed like an impossible target but it’s so close now.

I haven’t weighed myself this week, I’m going to do it on Friday so going forward I know I don’t have any big food days to contend with. Ironically I’ve eaten less this year than any other year but I’m absolutely full to bursting and feeling like I’ve gorged myself on cheese and chocolate. Interestingly, I’ve got through the whole of Xmas without a migraine which is unheard of, I know my migraines are connected to my diet (some definite triggers but most likely sugar/carb overload). So this jab has changed my life for the better in more than one way.

I don’t feel very strong like I used to when I was exercising so I’m looking forward to getting back to that, I haven’t been able to because my size was holding me back (damaging my joints) but I think I’ve lost enough to make a start. Such a different feeling going into new year this year than last!

Sleetingnow · 31/12/2025 13:13

I plucked up the courage to weigh myself today and there's been no change since I last weighed on 18th Dec. I'm using my in-laws scales which might not be accurate, but I'm pleased and relieved to have not put anything on, cos I haven't been eating particularly well! I haven't indulged as much as I would have in previous years though I guess.
Also after stressing about how to field questions about my weight loss from family members (which is quite noticeable I would say at 2.5 stone) no one has said anything, I'm quite upset hahaha!!

threescoops · 31/12/2025 19:32

I had a very sobering moment this morning after a bath - as I bent down to rub body lotion into my shins I was horrified to notice wrinkled baggy skin hanging down from my inner upper arms, looked like the arms of a woman much older than my 67 years. I’m sure it wasn’t like that before I lost 36 lbs over the last 4 months. Wonder if it will stay like that? Was looking forward to feeling more comfortable in sleeveless dresses this summer but had better not ever bend down

Atalosswhat2do · 01/01/2026 09:59

Kazzaa46 · 01/01/2026 12:05

@Atalosswhat2do congratulations that’s amazing 🤩

I’ve been starving the last two days. Sweet cravings have been creeping back. I don’t know if it’s from overindulgence over Christmas or 5mg is no longer working. I had a massive carb craving yesterday morning but I am due on in a week so this could also be the reason but even before this, I’ve found I’m wanting bad foods again.

I’ve jabbed today which is one day early as I did try this once before and it brought back my suppression so fingers crossed. This was the end of my current pen but I have another 5mg in the fridge so I’m going to have to keep to this dose for now.

Happy new year 🥳

GhostOrchid · 02/01/2026 13:22

First official weigh in of 2026 and I’m down another half pound since NYE, and 2.5lbs since my last official weigh in two weeks ago. Very pleased with that given the season and lack of tracking. I will resume tracking when I’m back at work on Monday.

SW: 109kg
CW: 95.4kg.

Next interim goal: 86kg

In old money, I’m just over 15 stone, so next mini targets are to get into the 14s and get my BMI down below 35 (currently 35.5), so into obese category 1.

When I was in my 20s my resting weight was around 14 stone 4, so it feels good not to be too far from that. After that it will start to feel like uncharted territory. I did get down to about 13 stone when in I was in my mid 20s, but stayed there only briefly as it all went back on again very quickly.

Feeling excited for what’s ahead.

And sorry for flipping between metric and imperial but I find kg more impersonal for recording my master weight somehow, but it’s useful to convert to imperial and it does offer more ways to slice and dice the data. Plus losing 3lbs sounds more impressive than losing 1.3kg. 😝

Chopsy123 · 02/01/2026 15:06

Well done everyone for staying on track during the Christmas period! You’ve all done incredibly well this year so let’s raise a glass of fizzy water to toast our ongoing successes in 2026! 🥂

Chopsy123 · 02/01/2026 15:12

It’s jab day today and I fecked up! 🤣

I’m on 3mg and was using the last of my 5mg pen to squeeze out what was left and then move onto my new 5mg pen.

Instead of using a syringe like I’d done with my previous pens to get the golden dose, I decided to try and twist the end. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

It twisted alright but then was weird when I tried to inject so I’ve no idea how much went in. It definitely wasn’t 3mg worth. So I opened the new pen and decided that as 30clicks is 2.5mg, I’ll take 20 clicks instead. So less than 2mg. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Honestly, I have no idea of what I was thinking so gawd knows how much suppression I’ll get this week. I’ve probably had around 2.5mg total so hopefully, they’ll be some suppression. And at least I’ll be back on the normal foods. (I’ve definitely eaten too much cheese!) 😂

Weekly weigh in day tomorrow… 🤞

bluepaperwaspofbxl · 02/01/2026 16:04

Happy New Year everyone!
@Kazzaa46 I have the lurgy again. I think there are some really nasty bugs out there currently and lots of people have been unwell during December. I was being v careful and put a mask on for the busy shopping trips, determined not to get ill and it was pointless anyway, as one of our guests caught something at a carol service and came down with it on Boxing Day. My boy caught it first and the rest of us followed.
Not weighing in until I’m better as I’m feeling puffed up and crappy.

I do the exact same thing! Kg is just a number, while XX stone sounds really bad to me for some reason 😅

Kazzaa46 · 02/01/2026 21:20

@bluepaperwaspofbxl hope you feel better soon. It’s rubbish isn’t it, I’m coughing and sniffling all over the place.

Injecting a day early seems to have helped. I have better suppression today. Not ultra strong but enough to curb cravings for bad food.

bluepaperwaspofbxl · 02/01/2026 22:37

@Kazzaa46 Thanks and well done for resisting. Hope you’re on the mend soon too. I’ve got to stop grazing and get rid of the Christmas stuff that’s left in the house.

JustPickleRick · 03/01/2026 10:25

I too braved the scales today after being away and eating off plan so to speak. I thought i would have put on but no 😂 still 9 stone 6 but lost 0.6 Oz so i'll take that as a win! Was absolutely expecting to put weight on and I was okay with that as i'll be back to my routine now i'm home.

I had lots of compliments back home about my weight loss from family and friends, not one of them asked if it was via jabs which was really nice. I've found its more acquaintances who are quick to ask if its jabs as they're quick to judge!

Hope you've all had a fab Christmas and new year. Massive well done to everyone who is posting losses!

I got some resistance bands and rope things that go over the door for Christmas so I can start toning up without having to go the gym. They mimic the gym equipment so i'm excited to get started🥳
